2. Most of the time, we make promises to other people.

Tom always makes promises, but never keeps them.汤姆总是许下诺言，但从未遵守它们。

3.When we make resolutions at the beginning of the year，we hope that we are going to improve our lives.
我们在一年的开头下决心时，我们希望会改善我们的生活。
（1）beginning名词，意为“开头；开端”，其动词形式为begin（开始）。
常用短语：at the beginning意为“首先；起初；从头开始”；at the beginning of 意为“在……开始”； from beginning to end意为“自始至终”。
A good beginning is half done.好的开始是成功的一半。
I disliked this dog at the beginning.起初我不喜欢这只狗。
At the beginning of this term，I found it hard to learn math.

（2）improve此处用作及物动词，意为“改善；提高”，名词形式为improvement。

4. Some people write down their resolutions and plans for the coming year.一些人写下来年的决心和计划。
write down意为“写下；记下”，是“动词+副词”型短语，名词作其宾语时可位于write down之后，也可位于write和down之间；如果人称代词作其宾语，人称代词必须放在write和down的中间。
