Melbourne
Girls’
College
is
getting
rid
of
all
its
bins
and
asking
students
to
take
their
rubbish
home
in
a
bold
bid
to
encourage
them
to
move
towards
zero
waste.
Starting
next
Monday,
the
Richmond
college
will
over
five
weeks
phase
out
receptacles
in
classrooms
and
the
yard,
leaving
1400
students
and
140
staff
to
find
their
own
home
for
chip
packets
and
juice
boxes.
  Even
the
school’s
20
recycling
bins
will
be
removed,
because
the
collapse
of
SKM
Recycling
means
the
college's
plastic
and
glass
recycling
is
now
sent
to
landfill.
Paper
can
still
be
recycled
via
the
school,
because
recycling
for
that
is
still
operating.
  As
part
of
the
shift,
volunteer
students
will
conduct
daily
non-compulsory
food
inspections
in
which
children
bringing
‘‘zero
waste’’
lunch
boxes
will
be
rewarded.
Students
using
only
reusable
packaging
will
receive
a
token(礼券)
that
will
go
into
a
draw
to
win
prizes
such
as
keep
cups.
Teacher
Paula
McIntosh
says
the
new
policy
will
help
persuade
families
to
buy
fewer
packaged
items
and
reuse
containers.
She
said
the
campaigning
of
Swedish
teenage
climate
activist
Greta
Thunberg
had
inspired
the
school,
showing
that
the
acts
of
one
person
"can
lead
to
enormous
change".
Student
environment
leader
Lucy
Skelton,
17,
says
most
issues
around
carrying
rubbish
home,
such
as
smell
and
mess,
can
be
solved.
Ms
McIntosh
acknowledges
that
some
parents
may
not
have
the
time
or
means
to
avoid
food
in
single-use
packaging.”
She
says
she
got
the
no-bins
idea
from
national
park
guidelines,
which
ask
visitors
to
take
rubbish
home
with
them.
  School
sustainability
co-ordinator
Andrew
Vance
says
his
marine
biology
students
were
horrified
when
they
used
a
microscope
to
discover
micro
plastics
in
Port
Phillip
Bay
water.
  "It
was
shocking,"
Mr
Vance
says.
"We
felt,
'Oh
my
gosh,
what
can
we
do
about
this
problem?'
"

In
the
book
The
Best
Little
Girl
in
the
World,Kessa
has
a
serious
eating
disorder
(进食障碍)
called
anorexia
nervosa.But
she
is
not
alone.Many
people
have
this
eating
disorder.
In
the
beginning
of
her
story,Kessa
is
a
normal
15-year-old
girl.She
is
good
at
many
things,especially
dancing.She
has
danced
for
many
years
and
loves
it.One
day
her
dance
teacher
tells
her
to
continue
eating
right,but
maybe
lose
a
few
pounds.Once
Kessa
hears
this,she
takes
things
too
far.Instead
of
cutting
down
on
snacks
and
junk
food,she
decides
not
to
eat
at
all.She
does
not
eat
breakfast,lunch,or
dinner.She

start
getting
as
much
help
as
possible
to
cure
(治疗)
their

to
deal
with
her
disorder
as
it
is
for
her.
Every
day
she
exercises
to
lose
more
pounds
and
plans
what
and
when
she
will
eat.Her
parents
try
everything,but
Kessa
decides
not
to
have
any
fat
on
her
body.
Kessa’s
doctor
and
parents
finally
take
her
to
the
hospital.She
is
now
so
thin
that
she
can
hardly
walk.There,she
is
given
good
care.
In
the
rest
of
the
book,Kessa
goes
through
a
lot
of
trouble
in
order
to
cure
her
eating
disorder.This
book,I
think,can
help
to
prevent
people
from
doing
this
to
themselves.It
shows
the
trouble
that
people
go
through
just
to
be
slimmer,and
all
the
terrible
things
they
must
experience
to
be
cured.It
is
a
book
I
think
every
teenager
should
read.
4.What

Kessa
do
to
lose
weight?
A.
She
stops
eating.
B.
She
eats
less
junk
food.

She
has
three
small
meals
a
day.
D.
She
dances
many
more
hours
a
day.
5.What
do
we
know
about
Kessa’s
eating
disorder?
A.
It
is
caused
by
her
dance
teacher.

It’s
too
serious
to
be
cured.

her
suffer
a

Mourning
the
loss
of
your
full
head
of
hair?
We
have
some
good
news
for
you!
__1__
According
to
a
new
research,
people
tend
to
consider
bald(秃头的)
men
as
more
dominant,
stronger
and
taller
than
those
with
hair.
In
a
study,
participants
rated
photos
of
men
with
hair
and
men
with
shaved
heads
according
to
levels
of
dominance
and
agreeability.
__2__
Besides,
when
participants
saw
pictures
of
the
same
men
with
hair
and
with
their
hair
digitally
removed,
the
latter
were
considered
as
more
dominant,
taller
and
stronger
than
they
truly
were.
What
gives?
__3__
It
is
just
like
people
with
deeper
voices
are
seen
as
more
competent
and
trustworthy.
In
U.S.
society,
shaved
heads
are
often
found
on
men
in
traditionally
male
professions,
so
dominance
may
appear
through
stereotypical(模式化观念的)
associations
with
these
figures.
The
researcher's
advice:
If
age
has
caused
you
to
start
losing
your
hair,
you
might
consider
shaving
your
head
completely.
__4__
Instead
of
spending
millions
each
year
trying
to
cure
their
hair
loss,
the
theory
of
this
research
to
men
experiencing
male
pattern
baldness
is
to
shave
their
heads.
__5__
If
so,
these
natural
hair
loss
treatments
are
definitely
worth
a
try.
A.A
full
head
of
hair
is
not
as
good
as
you
thought.
B.Being
bare
up
there
could
actually
be
a
huge
plus.
C.Then
you
can
spend
more
money
on
other
valuables.
D.Doing
so
could
actually
increase
your
reliability
with
others.
E.Still,
we
don't
blame
you
if
you're
holding
out
hope
of
a
full
head
of
hair.
F.Turns
out,
the
bald
men
were
considered
more
dominant
than
the
hairy
ones.
G.These
results
suggest
our
culture
usually
considers
baldness
a
sign
of
maturity
and
leadership!

to
themselves.”由此可知,作者写本文的目的在于警示其他人要从女孩的故事中吸取教训。
第二节
(15分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
1.B 顺承关系。B项中的Being
bare
up和上文中的the
loss
of
your
full
head
of
hair相呼应,a
huge
plus也与空后内容一致,故选B项。
2.F 顺承关系。根据语境可知,空处应是对研究结果的说明,F项(结果是,秃头的人被认为比头发浓密的人更有领导力)与上下文衔接紧密,故选F项。
3.G 诠释关系。根据下文可知,空处会提到产生这种认知的原因,G项(这些结果表明我们的文化通常认为秃头是成熟和领导力的标志)符合语境,故选G项。
4.D 条件关系。分析语境及选项可知,D项中的Doing
so指的就是上句中的shaving
your
head,故选D项。
5.E 转折关系。根据语境可知,空处前后存在转折关系,E项中的if
you're
holding
out
hope
of
a
full
head
of
hair与下文中的If
so相呼应,故选E项。
第三部分

3.
C 根据该空后的“for
years
Zach
had
been
in
a
wheelchair”可知,Zach得了一种“病(disease)”。
4.
B 根据下文描述Zach需要电动轮椅可知,他之前使用的是“手动(controlled

I
searched
the
information
about
Wuhan,such
as
the
famous
tourist
sites
and
the
delicious
food.
And
I
learned
a
lot
from
others’
experiences.
I
couldn’t
wait
to
go
there
and
experience
the
unique
scenery
and
culture.
Would
you
like
to
come
together?
I’m
sure
we’ll
have
great
fun.
Looking
forward
to
your
reply.
Yours,
Li
