设计说明
本单元主要复习时间状语从句。通过观察句子,分析句子的结构和意义,归纳各种时间状语从句的用法。并通过选词或选句填空,提高学生对单词、短语、句型、语法等知识的实际运用能力。然后通过听录音、问答、写作训练,让学生动脑、动耳、动口、动手,巩固时间状语从句的用法,运用与节日相关的知识。

Step 1 Lead-in
Language practice
While we’re staying with our friends, we’re going to spend one day in Qingdao.
Before we begin dinner, my father gives thanks for the food.
When it is all over, everyone helps wash the dishes.
And my family always go somewhere interesting as soon as the holiday begins.
We have celebrated the festival since the first pioneers from England arrived in
America.
After they landed, their first winter was worse than any English winter.
Step 2 Grammar
时间状语从句
一、什么是时间状语从句
 一个句子在另一个句子中充当时间状语,那么这个句子就叫做时间状语从句,另一个句子叫做主句。when, while, after, until, since等词常用来引导时间状语从句。一般来说,时间状语从句可以在主句之前,也可以在主句之后。
After we had a short rest, we went on working. 稍事休息之后,我们继续工作。
She waited until all the guests left. 她一直等到所有的客人都离开。
二、几种常见的时间状语从句
1. when引导的时间状语从句

When my mother is free, she takes me to the country.
当我母亲有空的时候,她带我去乡下。
Miss Smith often listens to the music when she is cooking.
史密斯小姐在做饭的时候经常听音乐。
2. while引导的时间状语从句

Please look after my pet dog while I am in Beijing.
我在北京期间请照看好我的宠物狗。
While we were playing basketball, it began to rain.
当我们正在打篮球的时候,天开始下雨了。
3. before引导的时间状语从句

Before I did my homework, I played the piano.
在我做作业之前,我弹钢琴了。
4. after引导的时间状语从句

My parents usually take a walk after they have dinner.
我父母在吃过晚饭之后经常去散步。
5. as soon as引导的时间状语从句

We’ll begin the party as soon as Lingling arrives.
玲玲一到,我们就将开始这个聚会。
I called my mother as soon as I got to the railway station.
我一到火车站就给我母亲打了电话。
6. until引导的时间状语从句

We played on the beach until it was late. 我们在海滩上一直玩到很晚。
They won’t leave until they finish the work. (主将从现)

7. since引导的时间状语从句

I have known Mr Brown since he came to China.
自从布朗先生来到中国,我就认识他。

Around the world
Public holidays in the US
Apart from Independence Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving, the US has several other important holidays during the year. Martin Luther King Day in January celebrates the birthday of the great civil rights leader. Columbus Day in October remembers Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas in 1492.
