Step 1 Lead-in
Ask and answer.
T: Boys and girls, do you know Deng Yaping? (Show a photo of Deng Yaping to the class.)

Deng Yaping was a great table tennis player in the 1990s. She won many world competitions, including four gold medals in the Olympics.
Deng was born in Zhengzhou in 1973. She began to play table tennis at the age of five. She stopped playing when she was twenty-four. Then she studied in Tsinghua University and Cambridge University.
Deng is a symbol of success.

enough此处作副词,意为“足够地”,位于所修饰的形容词或副词之后。常用于“主语+ be (not) + 形容词+enough + to do sth.”句型之中,表示“……(不)足够……去做某事”。
They were strong enough to do the work.
他们身体足够强壮能做这项工作。

①enough也可以作形容词,通常位于名词之前作定语,但time enough(足够的时间)仍然常用。

(1)whatever代词,意为“无论什么;不管什么”,相当于no matter what。

 give up是“动词+副词”型动词短语,名词作宾语时,放在up 前后均可,代词作宾语时,必须放在up之前。
