Teaching design of PEP7-unit 5 lesson 1
Ⅰ.Analysis of the teaching material
This lesson is the first period of PEP7 Unit5. The content of this lesson is familiar to students of Grade Six, for they have learned the related topic of the lesson in the unit 5 Meet your family of Grade Four. The topic is related firmly to students’ daily life and the persons they are familiar with. Thus, the designing of this lesson should be acceptable under the case of no information gap. The key point is word teaching and it aims to have students master the six words about jobs and the sentence patterns “What does he/she do ” and “What are you going to be ”. The content is familiar to students’ daily life and easy to attract their attention and arouse students’ learning interest. In the teaching of the lesson, I use thoroughly the teaching resources and lead students to learn by using and by much inputting. I lead the students gradually to study and become the center of the class. I design various tasks and activities to create enough chances for students to communicate, which aims to arouse students’ active attitude and interest of learning English.
Ⅱ.Analysis of students’ learning
The teaching target of this lesson are the students in Grade 6.They have had the abilities of expressing their ideas freely after three years’ learning English. They love playing and acting, especially competing. I design a series of games and activities according to students’ psychological characteristics to make them experience happiness and joy of learning English. I put the method of learning by using and doing as well as the task-based method into effect to arouse their learning zeal and enthusiasm.

Understand the following words: singer, writer, TV reporter, actor, actress, artist and the sentence structures “What does he/she do ” and “What are you going to be ”.
Ability aim
Understand and use the key words and sentence structures in the real situations flexibly.
Emotion aim
Cultivate students’ consciousness of loving labor and respecting people of different professions and strengthen the confidence to dare to dream and to realize the dreams by hard working.

Step 1 Warm-up and Revision
Greetings and introduce the teacher herself to students to lead out the topic of the lesson.
Let’s chant together What’s your father of PEP3-untit5 in Grade 4.
Step 2 Presentation and Practice
Present the picture of a singer and lead the word “singer”from the students and teach the word.
Show a picture of a man who is writing and teach the word “writer”. And lead the students to say more about writers by giving several famous books. Ask students to pay attention to the suffix “er”.
Present some pictures and lead out TV reporter and teach the word.
Show the picture of Liuxiao Lingtong and Zhao Wei to lead out the word “actor”and “actress”. Teach the words and ask students to pay attention to the article “an” and “a”.
Show the picture of Xu Beihong and his painting to teach the word “artist”.
Read these words several times after the teacher and ask them to read together to consolidate.
Show several pictures of famous people and ask them to remember as much as they can in 10 seconds. Then check together by using the sentence pattern “What does he/she do ” “He/She is a/an…”.
Read some sentences and guess the jobs.
Have a competition.
Divide the whole class into two groups and give out some cards of letters. Show a picture of a singer and the students who have the cards of these letters should come to the front quickly to spell the word. The winner will be the group who finish spelling the word correctly and more quickly. Carry out three turns and give some gifts to the winner.
Play a game: passing the ball to do a survey and fill the table.
Pass the ball with music. When the music stops, the student who get the ball should stand up and answer other students’questions: Tom,Tom,what does your father do
Tom,Tom, what does your mother do
Then the student passes the ball and the game continues.

Groupwork: work in groups and practice the sentence pattern .Then invite some students to report the results.
Step3 Wrap-up
Summarize the reports of the students.
T: Different people have different jobs. They are all the same important. And different people have different dreams. Just work hard for your dreams.
You can realize the dream one day. Wish you all realize your dreams and enjoy the life.
Sing the song “My family”.
