The
bell
rang
at
four
o'clock.
All
the
children
in
Donna's
class
36
into
the
corridor
and
joined
the
masses
rushing
out
of
school
because
it
was
Friday
and
the
37
was
here!
Tonight
was
a
football
practice
night
and
tomorrow
there
was
a
big
match

the
semi-final
of
the
Inter-school
38
.
Donna
got
changed
and
went
out
onto
the
football
pitch.
A
crowd
of
boys
were
hanging
around
the
field,
39
for
Mr
Jones,
the
sports
teacher,
to
arrive.
Just
then,
a
tall,
heavy
man
in
sports
kit
40
across
the
field.
He
came
over
to
the
football
pitch
and
41
to
everyone.
“Mr
Jones
is
sick,”
he
said.
“I'm
Mr
Stanley.
From
now
on,
I'm
42
the
team.”
Everybody
looked
unhappy.
They
knew
Mr
Jones
was
a
good
teacher
and
he
was
always
43
.
They
had
never
seen
Mr
Stanley
before.
“Right,”
said
Mr
Stanley.

44
and
we'll
see
what
you
can
do!”
The
team
made
a
line
ready
to
45
their
shots
at
goal.
Donna
stood
behind
Stevie
and
waited
for
her
turn.
Then
she
heard
Mr
Stanley
shouting
and
46
his
arms.
His
face
was
bright
red
and
he
sounded
really
47
.
“Oh,
you!”
he
shouted
at
Donna.
“Clear
off!
We
don't
want
any
girls
48
around
here
getting
in
the
way!”
Donna
stared
at
Mr
Stanley.
Stevie
said,
“But,
Sir

Donna
is
49
.
She's
brilliant!”
“NO
GIRLS
ON
MY
TEAM!”
shouted
Mr
Stanley
even
louder.
“But
that's
not
fair!”
“NO
BUTS!”
His
face
seemed
about
to
50
.
Donna
stood
at
the
side
of
the
field
51
watched
her
team
during
training.
It
started
to
rain
and
everyone
got
cold.
By
half
past
six
it
was
raining
so
hard
that
they
had
to
stop.
“Bye,
see
you
tomorrow
at
the
52
!”
they
shouted
as
they
left.
Donna
walked
slowly
home
in
the
rain.
She
felt
sad
and
53
.
It
just
wasn't
fair.
She
always
played
for
the

Mr
Jones
didn't
54
.
She
had
played
in
all
the

so
far

Dear
Anne,
I
like
your
column
very
much.
I
met
a
girl
four
years
ago
at
a
gym.
She
was
the
one
who
originally
approached
me
and
we
became
good
friends.
Then
one
day,
she
made
me
really
angry,
so
angry
that
I
just
left
and
we
never
saw
each
other
again.
Looking
back,
I
really
regret
ending
things
that
way.
It
was
a
cowardly
act
on
my
part,
but
I
had
a
terrible
temper
at
that
time
and
let
the
smallest
thing
get
to
me.
Recently,
I've
started
thinking
about
her
again
and
I
looked
up
her
e-mail
address.
I
thought
about
writing
to
say
“Hi”
and
apologize
for
what
I
did
but
I'm
not
sure.
She
could
still
be
angry
with
me,
or
maybe
she
has
forgotten
me.
I
feel
very
lonely
and
I
want
to
see
her
again.
What
should
I
do?
Tom
Dear
Tom,
She
may
still
be
angry
with
you,
and
she
may
have
forgotten
the
friendship
between
you,
but
that
doesn't
mean
she
doesn't
deserve
an
apology.
Tom,
how
many
of
us
have
wished
for
the
day
that
someone
who
treated
us
badly
saw
the
light
and
finally
owned
up?
But
we
rarely
get
that
kind
of
expected
result.
So
sure,
e-mail
her
and
say
“Hi”.
Tell
her
you
have
been
thinking
about
her
and
just
want
to
apologize
for
getting
angry
and
being
a
coward
by
walking
out
on
her.
But
you
should
remember
if
she
thinks
you're
apologizing
just
because
you
are
lonely,
she
might
dismiss
your
sincerity.
Therefore,
don't
mention
that.
If
she
wants
to
see
you
again,
she'll
make
sure
that
happens.
Even
if
she
doesn't
want
to
be
your
friend,
I
can
assure
you,
she'll
appreciate
the
gesture.
And
it
might
make
you
think
twice
next
time
you
get
angry.

to

Tom
that
________.
A.
an

is
better
late
than
never
B.
he
should
think
twice
before
he

angry

B
People
often
say,
“The
hand
that
rocks
the
cradle
rules
the
world.”
and
“Behind
every
successful
man
there
is
a
woman.”
Both
these
sayings
mean
the
same
thing.
Men
rule
the
world,
but
their
wives
rule
them.
Most
American
women
like
making
their
husbands
and
sons
successful,
but
some
of
them
want
more
for
themselves.
They
want
good
jobs,
and
when
they
work
they
want
to
be
paid.
They
also
want
to
be
as
successful
as
men.
The
American
women's
liberation
movement
was
started
by
women
who
didn't
want
to
stand
behind
successful
men.
They
wanted
to
stand
beside
men
and
have
the
same
chances
for
success.
They
didn't
want
to
be
told
that
certain
jobs
or
offices
were
closed
to
them.
They
refused
to
work
side
by
side
with
men
who
did
the
same
work
for
a
higher
pay.
A
liberated
woman
must
be
proud
of
being
a
woman
and
have
confidence
in
herself.
If
somebody
says
to
her,
“You
have
come
a
long
way,
baby.”
She
will
smile
and
answer,
“Not
nearly
as
far
as
I'm
going
to
go,
baby.”
This
movement
is
quite
new,
and
many
American
women
don't
agree
with
it.
But
it
has
already
made
some
important
changes
in
women's
lives
and
in
men's
lives,
too.
61.
From
the
first
paragraph,
we
can
learn
that
________.
A.
American
women
usually
take
care
of
their
children
by
themselves
B.
women
in
the
United
States
are
powerful
C.
women
play
a
very
important
role
in
men's
lives
D.
if
there
is
no
woman,
there
is
no
man
62.
From
the
passage
we
know
that
most
American
women
today
are
_____.
A.
fighting
for
their
rights
to
work
side
by
side
with
men
B.
working
hard
at
home
to
help
their
husbands
and
sons
be
successful
C.
working
side
by
side
with
men
in
all
kinds
of
jobs
D.
very
confident
about
their
future
63.
The
liberated
women
want
to
do
all
the
following
EXCEPT
___________.
A.
stay
at
home
to
help
their
husbands
be
successful
B.
have
the
same
chances
for
success
as
men
C.
get
the
same
pay
when
doing
the
same
work
as
men
D.
seek
for
office
and
do
some
important
jobs
as
men
64.
By
saying
“Not
nearly
as
far
as
I'm
going
to
go”,
a
liberated
woman
is
stating
that
_______.
A.
she
has
nearly
got
to
her
destination
B.
there
is
a
little
more
than
what
she
wants
C.
she
will
never
get
to
her
ideal
destination
D.
it
is
not
far
enough
and
she
will
go
a
lot
further
65.
In
this
passage,
the
author
suggests
that
in
the
United
States
_______.
A.
most
women
can't
get
a
good
job
B.
many
women
still
don't
want
to
go
out
of
their
home
to
work
C.
all
families
are
still
supported
by
men
D.
all
liberated
women
have
achieved
a
lot
C
There
is
an
English
saying,
“Laughter
is
the
best
medicine.”
Until
recently,
few
people
took
the
saying
seriously.
Now
however,
doctors
have
begun
to
look
into
laughter
and
the
effects
it
has
on
the
human
body.
They
have
found
that
laughter
really
can
improve
people's
health.
Tests
were
carried
out
to
study
the
effects
of
laughter
on
the
body.
People
watched
funny
films
while
doctors
checked
their
heart,
blood
pressure,
breathing
and
muscles.
It
was
found
that
laughter
has
similar
effects
to
physical
exercise.
It
increases
blood
pressure,
makes
the
heart
beat
quicker
and
makes
people
breathe
deeper;
it
also
works
several
groups
of
muscles
in
the
face,
the
stomach,
and
even
the
feet.
If
laughter
exercises
the
body,
it
must
be
beneficial.
Other
tests
have
shown
that
laughter
appears
to
be
able
to
reduce
the
effect
of
pain
on
the
body.
In
one
experiment
doctors
produced
pain
in
groups
of
students
who
listened
to
different
radio
programmes.
The
group
that
tolerated
(忍耐)
the
pain
for
the
longest
time
was
the
group
which
listened
to
a
funny
programme.
The
reason
why
laughter
can
reduce
pain
seems
to
be
that
it
helps
to
produce
a
kind
of
chemical
in
the
brain
which
diminishes
both
stress
and
pain.
As
a
result
of
these
discoveries,
some
doctors
in
the
United
States
now
hold
laughter
clinics,
in
which
they
help
to
improve
their
patients'
condition
by
encouraging
them
to
laugh.
They
have
found
that
even
if
their
patients
do
not
really
feel
like
laughing,
making
them
smile
is
enough
to
produce
beneficial
effects
similar
to
those
caused
by
laughter.

68.
Why
do
doctors
hold
laughter
clinics?

Because
they
want
to
earn
more
money.
B.

they
think
they
will
help
the
patients
recover
from
illnesses.
C.
Because
they
want
to
improve
their
patients'
health.
D.

they
want
their

an
Englishman
objects
to
this
type
of
existence,
but
if
this
is
so,
he
differs
from
most
inhabitants
of
the
world
today.
In
the
past
blocks
of
flats
have
been
associated
with
the
lower
income
groups,
and
many
of
them
lacked
the
obvious
provisions,
such
as
central
heating,
constant
hot
water
supply,
electrically
operated
lifts,
and
so
on.
Some
even
didn't
have
facilities
for
disposal
of
dust
and
rubbish
or
storage
places
for
baby
carriages
on
the
ground
floor.
Many
lacked
playgrounds
for
children
on
the
top
of
their
buildings,
and
drying
grounds
for
washing.
It
is
likely
that
the
dispute
regarding
flats
versus
(对抗)
individual
houses
will
continue
to
rage
on
for
a
long
time
as
far
as
Britain
is
concerned.
And
it
is
unfortunate
that
there
should
be
hot
feelings
on
both
sides
whenever
this
subject
is
raised.
Those
who
oppose
the
building
of
flats
base
their
cases
primarily
on
the
assumption
(设想)
that
everyone
prefers
an
individual
home
and
garden
and
on
the
high
cost
per
unit
of
accommodation.
They,
however,
ignore
the
higher
cost
of
providing
full
services
to
a
scattered
community
and
the
cost
in
both
money
and
time
commuting
to
work
for
the
suburban
resident.

It
can
be
inferred
from
the
passage
that
____.
A.

D.

What
can

learn
about

A.

My
View
on
Money
In
modern
society
it
seems
impossible
to
live
without
money.
For
instance,
a
country
needs
money
to
develop
its
economy
and
to
improve
people's
living
standards.
For
a
person
suffering
from
poverty
or
a
serious
disease,
he
has
to
go
hungry
or
to
wait
to
die.
Money
is
even
regarded
as
a
symbol
of
wealth
and
status.
Perhaps
sometimes
money
is
very
important.
With
lots
of
money
we
can
live
comfortably.
But
I
don't
think
it
is
all-powerful.
There
are
still
things
like
friendship
and
love
more
valuable
than
money.
There
are
also
certain
things
that
money
cannot
buy,
such
as
health,
youth
and
happiness.
For
a
millionaire
suffering
from
a
serious
cancer,
money
cannot
serve
its
purpose.
Money
is
only
a
medium
of
exchange,
a
symbol
of
our
work
or
achievement.
Therefore,
we
should
earn
money
by
honest
and
legal
means.
Only
when
money
is
obtained
by
hard
and
honest
work
can
it
make
us
really
happy.

For
many
years,
women
could
only
be
seen
on
the
seat
behind
the
men
operating
the
two-wheeled
motorcycle.
Now
more
and
more
women
are
taking
the
front
seat.
More
than
twenty
million
people
in
the
United
States
ride
motorcycles.
Since
1998
the
number
of
female
bikers
has
risen
sharply.
Lady
Sport
Riders
began
in
1999
in
Washington.
The
women
formed
the
organization
to
share
their
love
of
motorcycle
riding.
But
later
it
wanted
to
be
more
than
just
an
organization
for
women
to
gather
and
ride
motorcycles,
so
it
started
to
organize
events
that
help
national
health
organizations
and
women's
shelters.
It
also
permits
women
to
share
a
strong
sisterhood,
and
gives
financial
awards
to
poor
students.
Like
other
motorcycle
clubs,
the
members
of
Lady
Sport
Riders
also
help
their
community.
Different
from
male
riders,
female
riders
ride
for
more
than
fun.
This
sport
gives
women
a
sense
of
freedom
and
control.
Female
riders
have
helped
change
motorcycle
culture.
More
than
five
years
ago
manufacturers
began
making
equipment
especially
for
women.
Some
bikes
now
have
smaller,
softer
seats
and
controls
that
are
easier
to
reach.
Modern
clothes
for
riding
now
look
good
and
still
provide
protection.
In
the
past,
women
rode
motorcycles
that
traveled
at
a
moderate
speed.
Now
theirs
are
as
powerful
as
the
ones
men
ride.
Safety
is
very
important
when
riding
because
the
risk
of
injury
is
high.
So
the
women
wear
protective
clothing
and
equipment
at
all
times,
especially
for
the
head.
Lady
Sport
Riders
believes
women
have
earned
their
place
in
the
sport
of
motorcycle
riding.
When
speaking
of
male
motorcyclists,
the
members
of
the
club
say,
“They
Made
the
Game.
We
Came
to
Play!”
56.
What
can
we
learn
from
the
first
paragraph?
A.
Motorcycle
riding
used
to
be
considered
a
male
sport.
B.
The
number
of
female
motorcyclists
is
now
larger
than
that
of
male
riders.
C.
Female
motorcyclists
are
more
skilled
at
riding
than
male
riders.
D.
More
and
more
women
have
an
adventurous
spirit.
57.
In
the
beginning,
Lady
Sport
Riders
was
organized
to
.
A.
allow
women
to
take
up
motorcycling
B.
offer
help
to
national
health
organizations
C.
share
their
great
interest
in
the
sport
of
motorcycling
D.
supply
financial
help
to

students
58.
What
do
men
motorcyclists
mainly
expect
to
get
from
motorcycling?
A.
Strength
and
power.
B.
A
sense
of
freedom.
C.
Money
and
fame.
D.
Pleasure
from
this
sport.
59.
Compared
with
the
past,
the
present
equipment
makes
riding
more
______
for
women.
A.
difficult
B.
pleasant
C.
risky
D.
expensive
60.
What
is
the
purpose
of
the
passage?
A.
To
talk
about
the
development
of
motorcycle
riding.
B.
To
talk
about
the
characteristics
of
the
sport
of
motorcycling.
C.
To
introduce
a
female
motorcycle
club
to
readers.
D.
To
talk
about
the
role
women
have
played
in
the
sport
of
motorcycling.

About
97%
of
the
world's
water
is
salty
and
is
found
in
our
oceans
and
seas.
But,
as
we
can't
drink
seawater,
how
can
it
be
important?
Every
part
of
our
seas
and
oceans
contains
an
amazing
number
of
animals
and
fish
that
live
at
different
ocean
depths.
Most
of
the
different
species
of
animals
and
fish
depend
on
simple
plants
for
their
food.
These
simple
plants
called
algae
(海藻)
drift
near
the
surface
of
the
ocean
and
use
sunlight
to
turn
carbon
dioxide
and
water
into
food
and
oxygen.
In
fact,
algae
produce
over
half
of
the
oxygen
people
breathe.
How
important
seawater
is!
Each
plant
or
animal
in
our
seas
and
oceans
is
an
important
link
in
a
food
chain.
The
algae
are
eaten
in
large
amounts
by
microscopic
animals,
which
are
in
turn
consumed
by
larger
animals.
These
food
chains
are
delicately
balanced.
The
bad
news
about
the
food
chains
in
the
oceans
is
that
they
are
under
threat
because
of
man.
People
once
thought
that
the
oceans
were
so
big
that
it
didn't
matter
if
we
dumped
rubbish
into
them
or
caught
huge
quantities
of
fish
and
whales
for
food.
But
we
now
know
this
is
not
true
and
fish
stocks
in
the
oceans
have
started
to
drop.
Thankfully,
the
world
is
taking
steps
to
protect
the
future
of
our
oceans
by
introducing
international
agreements
to
protect
marine
habitats.
Most
countries
have
introduced
fishing
restrictions
to
protect
fish
stocks
in
the
oceans
and
new
techniques
are
being
pioneered
to
cope
with
pollution.
Finally,
the
importance
of
protecting
oceans
is
being
made
known
to
more
people.
This
is
just
the
beginning
of
a
long
process
to
protect
the
oceans
for
our
future.
We
depend
on
the
oceans
for
fish
which
are
an
important
part
of
the
human
diet.
How
important
seawater
is!

Now,
we
know
that
if
we
do
not
get
enough
vitamins,
we
are
at
risk
of
developing
a
number
of
diseases.
As
a
result,
vitamin
supplements(补品),though
expensive,
are
popular
with
people
who
worry
that
they
are
not
getting
enough
vitamins
from
the
foods
they
eat.
But
contrary
to
what
many
people
think,
medical
experts
have
found
little
evidence
that
most
supplements
do
anything
to
improve
health
or
protect
against
disease.
In
fact,
medical
experts
warn
that
taking
too
many
of
some
vitamins
can
be
harmful.
For
example,
too
much
vitamin
E
can
cause
bleeding.
People
should
discuss
what
vitamins
they
take
with
their
doctors,
as
some
vitamins
can
produce
harmful
side
effects
when
mixed
with
medicines.
Experts,
however,
do
say
that
sometimes
vitamins
can
help
prevent
disease.
People
who
know
they
lack
a
particular
vitamin
should
take
vitamin
supplements.
Some
older
adults,
for
example,
may
not
have
enough
vitamin
B-twelve.
This
is
because,
as
people
get
older,
their
body
loses
its
ability
to
take
it
from
foods.
Also,
people
who
spend
much
time
inside
may
need
some
extra
vitamin
D
as
the
skin
makes
this
vitamin
from
sunlight.
Different
vitamins
are
found
in
different
foods.
Vitamin
A
is
found
in
fish
liver
oil.
It
also
is
in
the
yellow
part
of
eggs.
Sweet
potatoes,
carrots
and
other
darkly
colored
fruits
and
vegetables
contain
substances
that
the
body
can
change
into
vitamin
A.
Vitamin
B-twelve
is
found
in
green
leafy
vegetables
and
other
foods,
like
fruits.
Vitamin
K
can
be
found
in
pork
products.
In
fact,
for
most
people,
a
balanced
diet
can
ensure
enough
of
the
vitamins
our
bodies
need.
So,
it
is
important
for
us
to
eat
a
mixture
of
foods
every
day
to
ensure
that
we
get
enough
vitamins
our
bodies
need.
71.

How
many

B.
How

C.

benefits
that

B.

B.

only
on

for

C.
not
to

Good

As

Chinese

Many
overseas
Chinese
are
embarrassed

all

The

China

We

We

57.
C。细节推断题。根据第二段“The
women
formed
the
organization
to
share
their
love
of
motorcycle
riding.”可知答案。
58.

from
male
riders,
female
riders
ride

more

fun.”可以看出和男车手不同的是女车手参加这项运动不仅仅是为了娱乐,由此可以判断,男车手参加这项运动的主要目的是为了从运动中获得乐趣。
59.

bikes
now
have
smaller,
softer
seats
and
controls
that
are

food
chains

delicately
balanced.”可知答案B错误;根据最后一段中的“This
is
just
the
beginning
of
a
long
process
to
protect
the
oceans
for
our
future.”可知答案D错误。
64.
B。细节推断题。根据最后一段可知很多国家通过限制捕鱼数量来保护鱼类,但不是禁止捕鱼;其他几种措施在最后一段中都可找到。
65.
A。主旨推断题。根据文章的第一段,以及第二段和最后一段的末句可知文章的中心是在说明海水的重要性。
66.
C。细节推断题。答案A、B、D都是针对着某一特殊的领域,Homes
&
Gardens涉及到家庭装饰,Delicous针对着饮食,ON
THE
WHEEL针对着汽车,而只有TIME涉及到各个领域。
67.
D。细节推断题。题目中强调的是Mrs
Smith喜欢把自己的家装饰得独特,而且她有个年幼的孩子,所以她可能想了解如何照顾好孩子,因此答案为D。
68.
B。推理判断题。Delicious是以饮食为话题的杂志,每期都会有Jamie
Oliver提供的菜单,因此他的职业有可能是厨师。
69.
C。主旨推断题。文章为广告类,根据文章对于各种杂志内容和特点的介绍,以及所给出的价格,可知其目的是为了让读者订阅。
70.
D。推理判断题。从每一种杂志所提供的内容判断,这些杂志都是为成年人出版的。
71.
C。推理判断题。根据文章的第一句话:现在我们可以看出如果体内缺乏足够的维生素,我们就有生病的危险,可以推断前面提到的内容应该是足够的维生素会对人体带来的好处。
72.
D。细节推断题。根据第一段可知有些人认为自己缺乏维生素,而缺乏维生素会导致人生病,所以他们想通过补充维生素来保持健康。注意答案C的迷惑性,并不是食物无法提供人们所需的维生素,而是人们担心他们不能从食物中获得足够的数量。
73.
D。细节推断题。根据第二段中的“People
should
discuss
what
vitamins
they
take
with
their
doctors,
…”可知答案。

The
English,
as
a
race,
are
very
different
in
many
ways
from
all
other
nationalities,
including
their
closest
neighbors,
the
French,
the
Belgians
and
the
Dutch.
It
is
claimed
that
living
on
an
island
separated
from
the
rest
of
Europe
has
much
to
do
with
it.
Whatever
the
reasons
are,
it
may
be
fairly
stated
that
the
Englishman
has
developed
many
attitudes
and
habits
which
distinguish
him
from
other
nationalities.
Broadly
speaking,
the
Englishman
is
a
quiet,
shy,
reserved
person
who
is
fully
relaxed
only
among
people
he
knows
well.
In
the
presence
of
strangers
or
foreigners
he
often
seems
restrained,
even
embarrassed.
You
have
only
to
witness
a
city
train
any
morning
or
evening
to
see
the
truth
of
this.
Serious-looking
businessmen
and
women
sit
reading
their
newspapers
or
having
a
light
sleep
in
a
corner,
and
no
one
speaks.
In
fact,
to
do
so
would
seem
most
unusual.
An
Englishman,
pretending
to
be
giving
advice
to
overseas
visitors,
once
suggested,
“On
entering
a
railway
carriage,
shake
hands
with
all
the
passengers.”
Needless
to
say,
he
was
not
being
serious.
There
is
an
unwritten
but
clearly
understood
code
of
behavior
which,
if
broken,
makes
the
person
immediately
suspected.
In
many
parts
of
the
world
it
is
quite
normal
to
show
openly
extremes
of
enthusiasm,
emotion,
excitement,
etc,
often
accompanied
by
appropriate
gesture.
The
Englishman
is
somewhat
different.
Of
course,
an
Englishman
feels
no
less
deeply
than
anyone
of
a
different
nationality,
but
he
tends
to
display
his
feelings
far
less.
This
is
reflected
in
his
use
of
language.
Imagine
a
man
commenting
on
the
great
beauty
of
a
young
girl.
A
more
emotional
man
might
describe
her
state
“Oh,
she
is
a
goddess”,
whereas
an
Englishman
might
just
say
“Oh,
she's
all
right.”
An
Englishman
who
has
seen
a
highly
successful
and
enjoyable
film
recommends
it
to
a
friend
by
commenting,
“It's
not
bad
you
know”,
or
on
seeing
some
very
unusual
scenery
he
might
convey
(表达)
his
pleasure
by
saying,
“Nice,
yes,
very
nice.”
The
overseas
visitor
must
not
be
disappointed
by
this
apparent
lack
of
interest
and
involvement.
Instead,
he
must
realize
that
“all
right,”
“not
bad,”
and
“nice,”
very
often
have
the
sense
of
“first-class,”
“excellent,”
“beautiful”.
This
unique
style
of
language
use
is
particularly
common
in
England,
and
is
known
as
restrained
statement.
56.

to
the

the
English

_______.
A.
habits
B.
attitudes
C.
character
D.
all
of
the

57.
The
underlined
word
“restrained”
in
the
second
paragraph
probably
means

”.
A.
calm
and
controlled
B.
polite
and
friendly
C.
nervous
and
quiet
D.
silent
and
kind
58.
In
Britain,
if
you
don't
want
other
people
to
think
you
are
strange,
you'd
better
_________.
A.
talk
with
others
as
much
as
possible
B.
behave
just
like
the
English
do
C.
say
nothing
about
yourself
D.
shake
hands
with
everyone
you
meet
59.
If
an
Englishman
says
“all
right”,
it
may
mean
“________”.
A.
not
bad
B.
correct
C.
quite
right
D.
wonderful
60.
From
the
passage,
we
can
infer
that
an
Englishman
_________.
A.
doesn't
like
to
show
his
feelings
so
much
B.
has
less
emotion
than
people
of
other
nationalities
C.
finds
it
easy
to
express
his
emotion
D.
likes
to
have
a
joke
with
strangers
B
Down-to-earth
means
being
honest,
open,
and
easy
to
deal
with.
It
is
a
pleasure
to
find
someone
who
is
down-to-earth.
A
person
who
is
down-to-earth
is
easy
to
talk
to.
He
or
she
accepts
others
as
equals.
A
down-to-earth
person
may
be
an
important
member
of
society,
of
course,
but
they
do
not
let
their
importance
go
to
their
heads,
and
they
do
not
consider
themselves
to
be
better
than
others
who
are
less
important.
Someone
who
is
filled
with
self-importance
and
pride,
often
without
cause,
is
said
to
have
his
nose
in
the
air.
There
is
no
way
a
person
with
his
nose
in
the
air
can
be
down-to-earth.
Americans
use
another
expression
that
is
similar
in
some
way
to
down-to-earth.
The
expression
is
both
feet
on
the
ground.
Someone
with
both
feet
on
the
ground
is
a
person
with
a
good
understanding
of
reality.
He
has
what
is
called
common
sense.
He
may
have
dreams
but
he
does
not
allow
them
to
block
his
knowledge
of
what
is
real.
The
opposite
kind
of
person
is
one
who
has
his
head
in
the
clouds.
A
man
with
his
head
in
the
clouds
is
a
dreamer
whose
mind
is
not
in
the
world.
Sometimes
such
a
dreamer
can
be
brought
back
to
reality;
sharp
words
from
the
teacher,
for
example,
can
usually
get
a
daydreaming
student
to
put
both
feet
back
on
the
ground.
The
person
who
is
down-to-earth
usually
has
both
feet
on
the
ground.
But
the
opposite
is
not
always
true.
Someone
with
both
feet
on
the
ground
may
not
be
as
open
and
easy
to
deal
with
as
someone
who
is
down-to-earth.
When
we
have
both
our
feet
firmly
on
the
ground,
we
are
realistic
and
we
act
honestly
and
openly
toward
others,
and
our
lives
are
like
the
ground
below
us,
solid
and
strong.
61.
If
a
person
has
his
nose
in
the
air,
he
____.
A.
is
down
to
the
earth
B.
is
easy
to
deal
with
C.
always
thinks
he
is
more
important
than
others
D.
is
confident
62.

A.

and
doesn't
have
any
dreams
B.
has
some
dreams
but
he
is
realistic
C.
is
honest,
open
and
easy
to
deal
with
D.
is
honest,
open
but
hard
to
deal
with
63.
From
the
second
paragraph,
we
know
that
sharp
words
from
a
teacher
can
usually
________.
A.
help
a
student
get
down
to
the
earth
B.
wake
a
student
up
C.
help
a
daydreaming
student
come
down
to
the
ground
D.
help
a
daydreaming
student
to
become
more
realistic

B.
a

From
the
passage,
we
can
infer
the

the
most
popular
kind
of
person.
A.
down-to-earth
B.

From
their
beginnings
New
England
towns
had
a
special
democratic
system
of
government.
At
a
stated
time
all
the
citizens
would
assemble
at
a
town
meeting,
where
they
would
discuss
local
problems
and
express
opinions
freely.
They
also
elected
the
town's
officials
at
these
gatherings
and
made
decisions
about
the
taxes
they
would
pay
and
about
other
community
matters.
These
meetings
were
usually
held
at
the
town
hall,
which
was
located
in
the
central
square.
In
the
eighteenth-century
town
meetings,
only
men
who
owned
property
and
who
were
church
members
actually
voted,
although
everyone
present
was
allowed
to
express
their
opinions.
Later,
all
citizens
were
allowed
to
vote.
Thus
the
town
meeting
became
truly
democratic.
Town
meetings
are
still
common
in
New
England
communities.
In
recent
years
the
town
meeting
idea
has
been
widely
imitated.
There
are
open
sessions
of
this
kind
on
radio
and
television.
Occasionally
a
meeting
of
this
type
is
called
by
a
government
agency
in
order
to
give
an
opportunity
for
free
and
open
discussion
on
current
problems
and
policies.
66.
At
a
town
meeting,
people
do
the
following
things
EXCEPT
__________.
A.
express
their
opinions
about
the
government
B.
elect
officials
of
the
towns
C.
make
a
decision
about
whom
they
should
marry
D.
discuss
some
community
matters
67.
In
the
18th
century,
who
had
the
right
to
vote?
A.
All
the
citizens.
B.
All
the
men
except
those
who
were
church
members.
C.
The
rich.
D.
The
rich
men
and
the
church
members.
68.
Why
has
the
town
meeting
been
widely
imitated?
A.
Because
many
people
are
interested
in
it.
B.
Because
it
is
very
democratic.
C.
Because
many
people
enjoy
themselves
at
town
meetings.
D.
Because
sometimes
government
agencies
call
them.
69.
According
to
the
passage,
which
of
the
following
statements
is
NOT
true?
A.
Citizens
can
elect
the
officials
in
the
town
meeting.
B.
In
recent
years,
town
meetings
are
often
called
by
a
government
agency.
C.
People
can
say
what
they
want
to
say
at
the
town
meeting.
D.
Nowadays
this
kind
of
meeting
is
also
held
on

Most
Americans
believe
that
someone
isn't
grown-up
until
the
age
of
26
and
they
should
complete
their
education,
have
a
full-time
job,
have
a
family
to
support
and
be
financially
independent.
They
also
believe
that
becoming
a
real
grown-up
is
a
process
which
begins
at
about
the
age
of
20
and
takes
about
five
years,
according
to
the
report
from
the
University
of
Chicago's
National
Opinion
Research
Center.
The
findings
are
based
on
a
representative
sample
of
1,398
people
over
the
age
of
18
who
were
surveyed
in
person.
The
survey
found
that
people
expect
the
transitions
to
grown-up
status
to
be
completed
at
the
following
ages:
age
20.9
self-supporting;
age
21.1
no
longer
living
with
parents;
age
21.2
having
a
full-time
job;
age
22.3
education
completed;
age
24.5
being
able
to
support
a
family
financially;
age
25.7
getting
married;
and
age
26.2
having
a
child.
“There
is
a
large
degree
of
agreement
across
social
groups
on
the
relative
importance
of
the
seven
transitions,”
said
Tom
Smith,
director
of
the
survey.
The
only
obvious
pattern
of
differences
is
on
views
about
supporting
a
family,
having
children
and
getting
married.
Older
adults
consider
these
more
important
than
younger
adults
do.
This
probably
shows
in
large
part
a
change
in
values
across
generations
away
from
traditional
family
values.
The
most
valued
step
toward
reaching
adulthood,
the
survey
found,
is
completing
education,
followed
by
full-time
employment,
supporting
a
family,
financial
independence,
living
independently,
and
marriage.

74.
From
the
passage,
we

that
_________.
A.

is
just
a

of
age
B.
being
grown-up

a

D.

Tibet
lies
high
in
the
mountains,
where
there
are
few
trees
for
fuel
and
the
ground
is
too
hard
to
dig
a
grave.
Therefore,
for
centuries,
one
of
the
most
common
ways
for
Tibetans
to
dispose
of
dead
bodies
has
been
by
sky
burials.
Basically,
this
means
allowing
vultures(秃鹰)to
eat
the
corpses.
In
many
cultures,
allowing
animals
to
eat
the
bodies
of
relatives
would
show
a
lack
of
respect
for
them.
But
Tibetan
views
on
dead
bodies
are
different.
Tibetans
believe
that
the
body
is
simply
a
container
for
the
spirit,
and
it
is
only
the
spirit
that
is
important.
After
a
Tibetan
dies,
the
body
is
not
touched
for
three
days.
The
spirit
is
allowed
to
leave
peacefully.
Lengthy
prayers
are
said
for
the
spirit,
and
then
the
body
is
taken
for
sky
burial.
Sky
burials
take
place
outside
temples,
with
monks
in
attendance.
People
might
travel
for
days
with
the
dead
to
reach
an
auspicious(吉利的)temple.
In
the
whole
of
Tibet
there
are
only
three
temples
that
are
considered
particularly
auspicious.
The
burial
itself
takes
place
quickly,
with
little
ceremony.
First
the
body
is
stripped
naked
and
placed
on
holy
stones.
It
is
then
cut
into
small
pieces
and
the
bones
are
broken.
When
everything
has
been
made
easy
to
digest,
the
monks
say
prayers
for
the
deceased
and
move
back.
Vultures
flock
to
the
remains,
and
within
a
short
time,
there
is
nothing
left.
Tibetans
believe
that

Studying
Abroad
Attending
schools
abroad
has
many
advantages.
Firstly,
by
looking
at
our
own
country
from
outside,
we
can
widen
our
vision
and
broaden
our
minds.
Secondly,
we
can
visit
famous
scenic
spots
and
make
friends
with
the
local
people.
Thirdly,
we
can
use
the
foreign
language
in
our
daily
life
so
that
our
ability
in
the
second
language
may
be
improved
quickly.
However,
there
are
also
some
disadvantages
in
attending
a
foreign
school.
The
most
serious
problem
is
the
language
barrier.
Most
students
do
not
have
adequate
knowledge
of
the
language
spoken
there.
On
arriving
there,
they
find
it
difficult
to
understand
what
the
teachers
are
saying.
Furthermore,
the
cost
of
living
is
much
higher
than
that
in
our
country,
so
most
students
have
to
find
part-time
jobs
to
support
themselves.
Faced
with
these
difficulties,
many
students
find
themselves
unable
to
pay
full
attention
to
their
studies
and
learn
little.
On
the
whole,
it
is
a
good
thing
to
study
abroad.
However,
one
must
not
lose
sight
of
the
disadvantages.

51.
A。the
same

as
固定搭配。
52.
C。前文描述了Rain的上升势头给Jay一定的冲击,所以Jay的位置受到影响。
53.
D。前文提到了Jay的位置受到影响,后文用一传言作为例证。switch
“更换”。
54.
A。目的应该是赢得“市场”,所以用markets。
55.
A。result
in
以……为结果。resulting
in
“Korean
Fever”
in
Mainland
China
意为“在中国大陆引起了‘韩流'”,说明Rain在中国获得了巨大的成功。
56.
D。从第一段的最后一句话可知A、B正确,从下文可以看出C也正确。故选D。
57.
A。从上下文可知,这里主要是要表达英国人“受抑制的”性格,故A项最符合题意。
58.
B。根据第二段的内容可得出答案。
59.
D。依据为最后一段中的:…
he
must
realize
that
“all
right,”
“not
bad,”

“nice,”
very
often
have
the
sense
of
“first-class,”
“excellent,”
“beautiful.”
This
unique
style
of
language
use
is
particularly
common
in
England,
and
is
known
as
restrained
statement。

A。全文都在谈论英国人拘谨的性格,尤其在陌生人面前。因此我们可以判断英国人是不太喜欢流露感情的。故选A。
61.
C。从第一段中的
“Someone
who
is
filled
with
self-importance
and
pride,
often
without
cause,
is
said
to
have
his
nose
in
the
air.”可得出答案。
62.
B。根据第二段中的“Someone
with
both
feet
on
the
ground
is
a
person
with
a
good
understanding
of
reality.”和“He
may
have
dreams
but
he
does
not
allow
them
to
block
his
knowledge
of
what
is
real.”可得出答案。
63.
D。从第二段中的“…
sharp
words
from
the
teacher,
for
example,
can
usually
get
a
daydreaming
student
to
put
both
feet
back
on
the
ground.”可推知答案。
64.
D。“Someone
with
both
feet
on
the
ground
may
not
be
as
open
and
easy
to
deal
with
as
someone
who
is
down-to-earth.”这一句话是解释。
65.
A。通过全文,尤其是最后一段可得出作者是大力提倡做人要脚踏实地,且这种人最受欢迎。
66.
C。文中提到是付税费,而不是生活方面的费用。
67.
D。依据为第二段中的“In
the
eighteenth-century
town
meetings,
only
men
who
owned
property
and
who
were
church
members
actually
voted,
…”。
68.
B。从文章的第一句和最后一段可看出市政会议之所以受欢迎是因为其民主性。
69.
B。从文章的最后一段中的“Occasionally
a
meeting
of
this
type
is
called
by
a
government
agency…”可知这种会议是偶尔召开,而不是经常开。
70.
A。文章开头就点明了主题,主要介绍了英格兰的新市政会议。
71.
D。根据第一段中的“Most
Americans
believe
that
someone
isn't
grown-up
until
the
age
of
26
and
they
should
complete
their
education,

a
full-time
job,

support
and
be
financially
independent.”可推知D选项概括最全面。

C。根据第二段中的“…;age
24.5
being
able
to
support
a
family
financially;…”可推出答案。
73.
A。根据上下文可以推测status在本文中意为“身份”。故选A。

A
Some
people
say
that
the
best
way
to
reduce
the
size
of
your
waist
is
to
do
stomach
exercise.
Many
people
believe
that
when
specific
muscles
are
exercised,
the
fatty
tissues
(组织)
in
the
immediate
area
are
burned
up.
The
truth
is
that
exercise
burns
fat
from
all
over
the
body
and
not
from
one
specific
area.
Of
course,
if
you
reduce
the
fat
throughout
your
body,
you
will
certainly
see
results
around
your
waist
too.
Some
people
believe
that
you
need
to
exercise
twice
a
week
in
order
to
keep
a
sufficient
level
of
physical
fitness.
However,
studies
directed
by
American
scientists
show
that
unexercised
muscles
lose
their
strength
very
quickly.
Within
48
to
72
hours,
you
must
use
the
muscles
again
to
reestablish
(重建)
the
good
physical
effects.
And
what
does
that
mean
to
you?
American
scientists
concluded
that
while
daily
exercise
is
most
helpful,
exercising
every
other
day
or
three
days
a
week
will
keep
a
sufficient
level
of
physical
fitness.
Is
it
true
that
you
burn
more
calories
running
one
mile
than
walking
the
same
distance?
The
answer
is
no.
The
truth
is
that
you
use
the
same
amount
of
energy
whether
you
walk
or
run
the
mile,
since
in
both
cases
you
are
moving
the
same
weight
the
same
distance.
The
speed
does
not
matter.
Of
course,
if
you
run
rather
than
walk
for
30
minutes,
you
will
cover
more
distance,
and
therefore
burn
more
calories.
If
your
breathing
doesn't
return
to
normal
within
5
minutes
after
you
finish
exercising,
you
have
exercised
too
much.
Five
minutes
or
so
after
exercising,
your
breathing
should
be
normal,
your
heart
shouldn't
be
beating
loudly,
and
you
shouldn't
be
tired.
56.
If
you
want
to
reduce
the
fat
around
your
waist,
you
should
____.
A.
do
stomach
exercise
B.
exercise
the
waist
C.
exercise
all
the
muscles
of
your
body
D.
run
fast
for
30
minutes
57.
From
the
second
paragraph,
we
learn
that
____.
A.
we
only
need
to
exercise
twice
a
week
B.
we
should
exercise
three
times
a
week
C.
muscles
lose
their
strength
after
48
hours
D.
we
should
exercise
every
other
day,
or
three
days
a
week
58.
It
can
be
inferred
from
the
third
paragraph
that
_________
.
A.
you
will
lose
more
weight
running
one
hour
than
walking
one
hour
B.
whether
you
run
one
mile
or
walk
the
same
distance,
you
use
the
same
amount
of
energy
C.
you
will
lose
more
weight
running
one
mile
than
walking
the
same
distance
D.
both
A
and
B
59.
If
you
have
exercised
too
much,
_______.
A.
your
breathing
will
take
longer
than
5
minutes
to
return
to
normal
after
you
finish
exercising
B.
your
breathing
will
return
to
normal
within
5
minutes
after
finishing
exercising
C.
your
heart
will
not
be
beating
loudly
D.
you
will
be
too
tired
to
move
60.
This
passage
tells
us
that
_________.
A.
it
is
better
to
do
more
running
than
walking
B.
the
more
exercise
you
do,
the
healthier
you
will
be
C.
the
unexercised
muscles
must
be
used
again
within
48
to
72
hours
D.
in
order
to
lose
weight,
you
have
to
run
fast
B
We
have
all
experienced
days
when
everything
goes
wrong.
A
day
may
begin
well
enough,
but
suddenly
everything
seems
to
get
out
of
control.
Sometimes
a
single
unimportant
event
may
cause
a
number
of
things
to
happen.
Let
us
suppose
that
you
are
preparing
a
meal
and
keeping
an
eye
on
the
baby
at
the
same
time.
The
telephone
rings
and
this
causes
your
troubles
to
begin.
While
you
are
on
the
phone,
the
baby
pulls
the
tablecloth
off
the
table,
destroying
your
half-prepared
meal.
You
hang
up
hurriedly
and
attend
to
your
baby.
Meanwhile,
the
meal
gets
burnt.
As
if
this
is
not
enough
to
bring
you
to
tears,
your
husband
arrives
home,
unexpectedly
bringing
three
guests
to
dinner.
Things
can
also
go
wrong
on
the
road.
During
rush
hour
one
evening
two
cars
collided
and
the
drivers
began
to
argue.
The
woman
driver
behind
the
two
cars
happened
to
be
a
learner.
She
got
into
a
panic
and
stopped
her
car.
This
forced
the
driver
following
her
to
stop
suddenly.
This
driver's
wife
was
sitting
beside
him
holding
a
large
cake,
and
as
she
was
thrown
forward,
the
cake
went
right
through
the
window
and
landed
on
the
road.
A
truck
driver
seeing
a
cake
flying
through
the
air
slammed
on
the
brakes.
The
truck
was
carrying
empty
beer
bottles
and
hundreds
of
them
slid
off
the
back
of
the
truck
onto
the
road,
causing
a
terrible
traffic
jam.
It
took
the
police
an
hour
to
get
the
traffic
on
the
move
again.
In
the
meantime,
the
truck
driver
had
to
sweep
up
hundreds
of
broken
bottles.
Only
two
dogs
were
enjoying
themselves,
for
they
were
happily
having
what
was
left
of
the
cake.
61.
If
you
want
to
answer
the
phone
without
any
trouble,
you'd
better
___________
.
A.
pull
out
the
telephone
line
when
you
are
with
your
baby
B.
put
your
baby
on
the
bed
and
keep
an
eye
on
him
/
her
C.
not
hurry
to
answer
the
phone
D.
make
sure
your
baby
is
not
near
the
table
62.
Who
is
responsible
for
the
accidents
that
happened
on
the
road?
A.
The
two
drivers
who
were
arguing.
B.
It
wasn't
mentioned
in
the
passage.
C.
The
woman
driver.
D.
The
truck
driver.
63.
From
this
story
we
learn
that
________.
A.
there
are
many
road
accidents
every
day
B.
the
accidents
mentioned
in
the
passage
are
very
strange
C.
no
one
knows
why
this
kind
of
accident
happens
D.
the
accidents
mentioned
in
the
passage
are
very

64.
The
writer's
purpose
in
writing
this
passage
is
to
___________.
A.
remind
us
not
to
answer
the
phone
when
we
are
busy
B.
tell
us
driving
is

when
we
meet
an
accident
D.
remind
us
not
to
carry
a

65.
The
main
idea
of
this
passage
is
that
________.

The
concept
of
health
holds
different
meanings
for
different
people
and
groups.
These
meanings
have
also
changed
over
time.
This
change
is
no
more
evident
than
in
Western
society
today,
when
notions
of
health
and
health
promotion
are
being
challenged
and
expanded
in
new
ways.
For
much
of
recent
Western
history,
health
has
been
viewed
in
the
physical
sense
only.
That
is,
good
health
has
been
connected
to
the
smooth
mechanical
operation
of
the
body,
while
ill
health
has
been
attributed
to
a
breakdown
in
this
machine.
Health
in
this
sense
has
been
defined
as
the
absence
of
disease
or
illness
and
is
seen
in
medical
terms.
In
the
late
1940s
the
World
Health
Organization
challenged
this
physically
and
medically
oriented
(导向的)
view
of
health.
They
stated
that
health
is
a
complete
state
of
physical,
mental
and
social
well-being
and
is
not
merely
the
absence
of
disease
(WHO,
1946).
Health
and
the
person
were
seen
more
holistically
(mind
/
body
/
spirit)
and
not
just
in
physical
terms.
The
1970s
was
a
time
of
focusing
on
the
prevention
of
disease
and
illness
by
emphasizing
the
importance
of
the
lifestyle
and
behavior
of
the
individual.
Specific
behaviors
which
were
seen
to
increase
risk
of
disease,
such
as
smoking,
lack
of
fitness
and
unhealthy
eating
habits,
were
targeted.
Creating
health
meant
providing
not
only
medical
health
care,
but
also
health
promotion
programs
and
policies
which
would
help
people
maintain
healthy
behaviors
and
lifestyles.
While
this
individualistic
healthy
lifestyle
approach
to
health
worked
for
some
(the
wealthy
members
of
society),
it
was
of
little
benefit
to
people
experiencing
poverty,
unemployment,
underemployment
or
who
had
little
control
over
the
conditions
of
their
daily
life.
During
the
1980s
and
1990s
there
has
been
a
growing
swing
away
from
seeing
lifestyle
risks
as
the
root
cause
of
poor
health.
While
lifestyle
factors
still
remain
important,
health
is
being
viewed
also
in
terms
of
the
social,
economic
and
environmental
contexts
in
which
people
live.
This
broad
approach
to
health
is
called
the
socio-ecological
view
of
health.
At
the
Ottawa
Conference
in
1986,
a
charter
was
developed
which
outlined
new
directions
for
health
promotion
based
on
the
socio-ecological
view
of
health.
This
charter,
known
as
the
Ottawa
Charter
for
Health
Promotion,
remains
as
the
backbone
of
health
action
today.
In
exploring
the
scope
of
health
promotion
it
states
that:
Good
health
is
a
major
resource
for
social,
economic
and
personal
development
and
an
important
dimension
(尺度)
of
the
quality
of
life.
Political,
economic,
social,
cultural,
environmental,
behavioral
and
biological
factors
can
all
favor
health
or
be
harmful
to
it.
(WHO,
1986)

After
giving
a
talk
at
a
high
school,
I
was
asked
to
pay
a
visit
to
a
spe?cial
student.
An
illness
had
kept
the
boy
home,
but
he
had
expressed
an
interest
in
meeting
me.
I
was
told
it
would
mean
a
great
deal
to
him,
so
I
agreed.
During
the
nine-mile
drive
to
his
home,
I
found
out
something
about
Matthew.
He
had
muscular
dystrophy
(肌肉萎缩症).
When
he
was
born,
the
doctor
told
his
parents
that
he
would
not
live
to
five,
and
then
they
were
told
he
would
not
make
it
to
ten.
Now
he
was
thirteen.
He
wanted
to
meet
me
because
I
was
a
gold-medal
power
lifter,
and
I
knew
about
overcoming
obstacles
and
going
for
my
dreams.
I
spent
over
an
hour
talking
to
Matthew.
Never
once
did
he
complain
or
ask,
“Why
me?”
He
spoke
about
winning
and
succeeding
and
going
for
his
dreams.
Obviously,
he
knew
what
he
was
talking
about.
He
didn't
mention
that
his
classmates
had
made
fun
of
him
because
he
was
different.
He
just
talked
about
his
hopes
for
the
future,
and
how
one
day
he
wanted
to
lift
weights
with
me.
When
we
had
finished
talking,
I
went
to
my
briefcase
and
pulled
out
the
first
gold
medal
I
had
won
and
put
it
around
his
neck.
I
told
him
he
was
more
of
a
winner
and
knew
more
about
success
and
overcoming
obstacles
than
I
ever
would.
He
looked
at
it
for
a
moment,
then
took
it
off
and
handed
it
back
to
me.
He
said,
“You
are
a
champion.
You
earned
that
medal.
Someday
when
I
get
to
the
Olympics
and
win
my
own
medal,
I
will
show
it
to
you.”
Last
summer
I
received
a
letter
from
Matthew's
parents
telling
me
that
Matthew
had
passed
away.
They
wanted
me
to
have
a
letter
he
had
written
to
me
a
few
days
before:
Dear
Dick,
My
mum
said
I
should
send
you
a
thank-you
letter
for
the
picture
you
sent
me.
I
also
want
to
let
you
know
that
the
doctors
tell
me
that
I
don't
have
long
to
live
any
more,
but
I
still
smile
as
much
as
I
can.
I
told
you
someday
that
I
would
go
to
the
Olympics
and
win
a
gold
medal,
but
I
know
now
I
will
never
get
to
do
that.
However,
I
know
I'm
a
champion,
and
God
knows
that
too.
When
I
get
to
Heaven,
God
will
give
me
my
medal
and
when
you
get
there,
I
will
show
it
to
you.
Thank
you
for
loving
me.
Your
friend,
Matthew

beautiful,

lady
complained
to
her
psychiatrist
(精神病医师)
that
she
felt
that
her
whole
life
was
empty;
it
had
no
meaning.
So
the
psychiatrist
called
over
the
old
lady
who
cleaned
the
office
floors,
and
then
said
to
the
rich
lady,
“I'm

you
how
she

All

So
the
old
lady
put
down
her

sat
on
a
chair
and
told
her
story,
“Well,
my
husband
died
of

and
three

my

son
was
killed
by
a

I

I

I

I
couldn't
eat;
I
never
smiled
at
anyone;
I

my
own

Then
one
evening,
a
little
kitten

me
home

Somehow
I

that
kitten.
It

so
I

to

the
kitten

I

it

Then
it
purred
comfortably
and
rubbed
against

and
for

I
smiled.
Then
I
stopped
to
think;
if
helping
a
little
kitten
could
make
me
smile,
maybe
doing
something
for
people
could
__________.
So
the
next
day,
I
baked
some
biscuits
and
took
them
to
a
neighbor
who
was
sick
in
bed.
Every
day
I
tried
to
do
something
nice
for
someone.
It
made
me
so
happy
to
see
them
happy.
Today,
I
don't
know
of
anybody
who
sleeps
and
eats
better
than
I
do.
I've
found
happiness,
by
giving
it
to
others.”
When
she
heard
that,
the
rich

cried.
She
had
everything
that
money

but
she
had
lost
the
things
which

had
this
little
poem
that
I
would
recite
to
myself
at
least
four

was
Dad's

my
18-year-old
unasked
question.
“The

to
me
that
things

so
hard
that
I
could
not

Dad

Then

The

,
yet
profound

words

became
26
of
my

well.
About
a
month
after
this

my

I
27
a
gift
in
the
mail
from
a
friend
of
mine.
It
was
a
book
of
daily
sayings
of
wisdom
with
one
28
for
each
day
of
the
year.
  It
has
been
my
29
that
when
you
get
something
with
days
of
the
year
on
it,
you
naturally
turn
to
the
page
that
lists
your
own

I
31
opened
the
book
to
November
10
to
see
32
words
of
wisdom
this
book
had
in
store
for
me.
I
was
33
when
I
looked
at
the
page,
and
then
tears
of
disbelief
and
appreciation
34
down
my
face.
There,
on
my
birthday,
was
the
exact
same
poem
that
had
helped
my
father
35
all
these
years!
It
is
called
the
Serenity
(平静)
Prayer:
God,

me
the
serenity
to
accept
the
things
I
cannot
change;
the
courage
to
change
the
things
I
can,
and
the
wisdom
to
know
the
difference.

Once
upon
a
time,
there
was
a
wonderful
old
man
who
loved
everything
on
the
land
——
animals
and
plants.
One
day
while
walking
through
the
woods,
the
old
man
found
a
cocoon
of
a
butterfly.
He
took
it
home.
A
few
days
later,
a
small
opening
appeared;
he
sat
and
watched
the
butterfly
for
several
hours
as
it
struggled
to
force
its
body
through
that
little
hole.
Then
it
seemed
to
stop
making
any
progress.
It
appeared
as
if
it
had
gotten
as
far
as
it
could
and
it
could
go
no
farther.
Then
the
man
decided
to
help
the
butterfly,
so
he
took
a
pair
of
scissors
and
cut
the
remaining
bit
of
the
cocoon.
The
butterfly
then
came
out
easily.
But
it
had
a
swollen
body
and
small,
shriveled
wings.
The
man
continued
to
watch
the
butterfly
because
he
expectedthat,
at
any
moment,
the
wings
would
and
expand
to
be
able
to
support
the
body,?or?they
would
be
smaller.
Neither
happened!
In
fact,
the
butterfly
spent
the
rest
of
its
life
crawling
around
with
a
swollen
body
and
shriveled
(枯萎)wings.
It
never
was
able
to
fly.
What
the
man
in
his
kindness
and
hurry
did
not
understand
was
that
the
struggle
required
for
the
butterfly
to
get
through
the
tiny
opening
was
nature's
way
of
forcing
fluid
from
the
body
of
the
butterfly
into
its
wings
so
that
it
would
be
ready
for
flight
once
it
achieved
its
freedom
from
the
cocoon.
Sometimes
struggles
are
exactly
what
we
need
in
our
life.
If
we
were
allowed
to
go
through
our
life
without
any
difficulties,
it
would
cripple
(无能)
us.
We
would
not
be
as
strong
as
what
we
could
have
been.
And
we
could
never
fly.
36.The
old
man
cut
the
cocoon
in
order
to
____.
A.
kill
the
butterfly
B.
play
with
the
butterfly
C.
make
the
butterfly
come
out
easily
D.
have
the
butterfly
37.The
reason
why
the
butterfly
could
not
fly
is
that
_____.
A.
the
old
man
broke
its
wings
B.
it
was
too
small
C.
newly
born
butterflies
can't
fly
D.
it
came
out
of
its
cocoon
without
enough
struggle
38.What
can
we
know
from
the
passage?
A.
That
old
man
was
fond
of
everything
except
the
butterfly.
B.
It
was
the
old
man
that
stopped
the
butterfly
flying.
C.
The
old
man
realized
his
mistake.
D.
It's
not
hard
for
the
butterfly
to
come
out
of
the
cocoon.
39.
What
does
the
author
want
to
tell
us
by
writing
the
passage?
A
.We
should
help
others.
B.
Without
others
help
we
can
still
succeed.
C.
Struggles
in
our
life
can
make
us
stronger.
D.
Butterflies
can
fly
without
people's
help.
