三、例题精讲
序数词是表示顺序及“第几”的词。如：
first第一，second第二，third第三。下面我们来看看序数词的构成：
1. 第一——第三单独成词，分别是first，second，third。
2. 第四——第十九均在相对应的基数词后面加-th，特殊的有：fifth, eighth, ninth, twelfth。
3. 整十的序数词是把对应的基数词的最后一个字母y变为i，再加-eth。
4. 当我们表示“第几十几”时，只需将基数词的个位数变为序数词，而十位数不变。如：第26为twenty-sixth。但是个位数是1，2，3的序数词的个位分别是first, second, third。如：第33 thirty-third。
我们再来看看序数词的用法:
1. 序数词的前面要加定冠词 the。如：This is the first lesson. 这是第一课。但是当序数词的前面有my（物主代词），this（指示代词）等修饰时，则不必再用the。如：his second friend 他的第二个朋友。
2. 序数词常用缩写形式，即：“阿拉伯数字+个位序数词的后两个字母”。如：31我们可以缩写为31st，twenty-fifth我们可以缩写为25th。
3. 序数词可以表示“几月几号”中的“几号”。如：10月15日 October fifteenth，11月26日 November twenty-sixth。
4. 序数词可以用来表示顺序、编号等，但是应该放在名词的前面。如：第五课 the fifth lesson。而基数词应放在名词的后面，即Lesson Five。
