First talk about some famous athletes such as: Ma Lin, A table tennis player
Guo Jingjing, A diver. Liu Xiang, A hurdler. Gao Ling, A badminton player
How much do you know about them
Some background knowledge about them
Ma Lin(马林):
He was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. He started to play table tennis at an early age of 6 and was inducted (吸收) into the national team in 1994 when he was only 14. He won the 2000 World Cup to become China’s first men’s singles world champion. In the 2004 Athens Olympic Games(雅典奥运会), Chen Qi & Ma Lin, known as China’s new “golden pair”(黄金搭档), won the mixed doubles (混合双打)and became the Olympic Champion. At present, he is considered to be the strongest player in the world.
Liu Xiang(刘翔):
He, the 21-year-old Shanghai native, is considered to be a hero, a superhero. He is the pride of China. Because he is the first Chinese athlete to take Olympic gold in the short distance race, which used to be dominated (占据) by Americans and Europeans. He also became the first Asian(亚洲人) in history to win the men’s 110m hurdles (男子110米跳栏)at the Olympic Games in Athens on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004.
Gao Ling(高凌):
She took up badminton in Wuhan at age of 6, and began regular training in Hubei
provincial sports school in 1989 and joined the national team in February 1997. She and Zhang Jun(张军) became the Olympic champion of the mixed doubles in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games (悉尼奥运会). Again, Gao Ling and Zhang Jun won the mixed doubles and became the Olympic champion in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games
Guo Jingjing(郭晶晶):
She was born in the province of Hubei. She won diving competitions at every level as a youngster(少年), and has won almost every honor available in the world of diving. In the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, she became the Olympic champion of women’s singles and she and Wu Minxia won the Olympic gold of the women’s doubles in Athens.

Part 1: Setting the scene
Describe the situation at the beginning and what happened.

The stages of writing a story
Stage 1:
Decide the 5Ws(Who, When, Where, What, Why) and 1H(How).
Stage 2
Draw a timeline of the main events, put them in the order of the time when they happened.
For example:
The story of Christopher Reeve

Fell from the horse and broke his back
Survived and got involved with the charity work
Died on Oct.10,2004
Stage 3
Write a story in three or four paragraphs.
beginning: 1 paragraph
development: 1 or 2 paragraphs

Check your story to see:
