There are many kinds of pollution around us, including air pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution and light pollution. They are bad for our health in many ways. In order to protect the environment, we need to take proper action.

1. 核心词汇 (词性&词义)
(1)noise n. 噪音;响声
noise是名词,意为“噪音;响声”,常构成短语make noise(s),意为“发出噪音”。
noisy形容词,意为“嘈杂的;喧闹的”,noisily副词,意为“吵闹地”。
The noise jumped me out of my chair. 噪音把我从椅子上惊起。
Turn the TV down. It’s too noisy. 让电视的声音开小一些,太吵了。
(2)consider v. 认为;觉得
consider是及物动词,意为“认为;觉得”。常用短语:consider sb. / sth. (as) sth. 意为“认为某人 / 某物是……”。另外,consider后还可接that从句。
consider还可以表示“考虑”的意思,相当于think about,其后可接名词、代词、动词-ing形式、从句或“疑问词+不定式”作宾语,但其后不能直接跟动词不定式作宾语。
He considered that we could protect the environment. 他认为我们能保护好环境。
We have considered how to solve the environmental problems. 我们一直考虑如何解决环境问题。
(3)advice n. 建议;意见
advice是不可数名词,意为“建议;意见”。表示“一条建议”用 a / one piece of advice,表示“一些建议”常用some advice。
advise动词,意为“建议”,后接名词、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语,也可用于advise sb. (not) to do sth.结构,意为“建议某人(不要)做某事”。
I’ll give you some advice on how to reduce pollution.
我将给你一些如何减少污染的建议。
(4)manage v. 能解决,应付;设法做成,努力完成
manage是动词,意为“能解决,应付;设法做成,努力完成”。manage后常接动词不定式,表示“设法做成某事”。
manage to do sth. 意为“设法做成了某事”,强调结果。
How do you manage noise pollution? 你们是怎样解决噪音污染的?
(5)drive sb. mad 让某人受不了
drive sb. mad意为“让某人受不了”,sb.放在动词drive后面,应该用人称代词宾格形式。
make sb mad意为“使某人发疯”如:The noise pollution here almost made him mad. 这里的噪音污染几乎使他发疯了。
The light pollution there will drive me mad. 那里的光污染会让我发疯的。
(6)keep...from… 阻止……做……
keep…from… 意为“阻止……做……”,其中from后接名词、代词或动词-ing形式,from不能省略。
prevent sb. from doing sth. 意为“制止 / 防止某人做某事”,在现代英语中from常可省略,但在被动句中,from不能省略。
stop sb. (from) doing sth. 意为“阻止某人做某事”,from在主动句中可省略。
The blood kept us from going out. 洪水使我们无法外出。
2. 必备句型
(1)It’s one’s duty to do sth. 做某事是某人的义务和职责
It’s everyone’s duty to love and protect the environment.
爱护和保护环境是每个人的责任和义务。
(2)take many measures to do sth. 采取措施做某事
We should take many measures to stop pollution.
我们应该采取许多措施停止污染。
(3)As we know.... 众所周知,……
As we know, water is very important to man.
  众所周知,水对人类来说是非常重要的。
(4)need to do sth. 需要去做某事
We need to protect Earth because it is our home.
我们需要保护地球因为它是我们的家。
(5)try one’s best to do sth. 尽某人的最大努力做某事
Let’s do our best to make it more beautiful.
  让我们尽力让它更美丽。

From the picture we know that people are cutting down many trees. The trees are getting fewer and fewer. More and more farmland is becoming sand. This has caused sandstorms. Our living environment is getting worse and worse. The environmental problem is serious. Something must be done at once. We must build the Green Great Wall to stop the wind from blowing the earth away. Everybody should do something to protect our living environment. We must try to plant more trees, stop anyone from cutting down trees and make more people know how important it is to protect our environment.
