课时分层作业(三)
Ⅰ.阅读理解
A
After
finishing
my
teaching
for
a
school
year,I
thought
that
I
should
go
back
to
Montreal,Quebec,my
hometown
for
a
visit.My
main
goal
was
to
relax
in
preparation
for
the
challenges
of
my
retirement
in
the
coming
year.
Through
my
stay
in
Montreal,I
met
lots
of
Chinese
who
are
struggling
to
succeed
and
then
lead
a
better
life
in
Canada.
Some
travelled
thousands
of
miles
to
get
knowledge.When
I
spoke
with
some
of
them
about
the
major
barrier
they
had
to
face
after
they
arrived
in
Canada,they
all
talked
about
the
two
official
languages
of
Canada.But
I
was
impressed
by
their
ability
to
express
their
ideas
while
switching
between
English
and
French.
Almost
all
of
those
people
said
they
often
felt
homesick.They
miss
their
families
and
friends.Though
Montreal
has
lots
of
Chinese
restaurants,they
long
for
a
home?cooked
meal.
I
met
some
tourists
who
were
trying
to
realize
their
childhood
dreams
of
experiencing
the
life
in
a
developed
country.When
I
asked
them
if
Montreal
had
lived
up
to
their
expectations,they
hesitated.They
said
that
reality
never
agrees
with
fantasies.However,they
were
glad
to
have
the
opportunity
to
visit
Montreal
and
didn't
regret
taking
the
trip.
Not
all
the
Chinese
people
I
met
were
happy.I
once
met
a
young
lady
who
met
with
a
gentleman
through
the
Internet.However,to
her
disappointment,he
disappeared
after
he
promised
to
marry
her
in
Montreal.
I
was
served
by
another
Chinese
person
who
could
not
handle
the
challenges
of
studying
in
an
English
environment
and
ended
up
working
in
a
restaurant
with
minimum
pay.
Exploring
different
parts
of
the
world,without
any
doubt,is
an
enriching
experience.However,one
should
be
realistic
when
it
comes
to
leaving
his
hometown
to
set
up
a
new
life
in
a
foreign
country.One
should
take
the
time
to
examine
the
advantages
and
the
shortcomings
of
the
venture
before
they
decide
to
chase
an
uncertain
dream
of
achieving
success
or
leading
a
better
life.

B
I
am
a
full?time
student
at
College
of
the
Redwoods.During
this
period
it
is
hard
to
find
time
to
do
anything
other
than
work.But
after
much
thought
I
decided
to
spend
my
extra
time
volunteering
at
the
Sequoia
Humane
Society.
After
my
first
day
of
volunteering,I
had
a
mixture
of
feelings:I
felt
guilty
because
I
didn't
do
anything
to
help
others
in
the
past
25
years;I
felt
happy
because
I
was
helping
animals,and
I
felt
sad
because
these
animals
did
not
have
a
home
with
a
family.
The
main
reason
for
people
volunteering
at
animal
shelters
(收容所)
is
that
it
helps
the
animals.It
also
helps
the
workers,because
they
have
so
many
things
to
do—such
as
feeding
and
cleaning—and
they
just
don't
have
enough
time
to
give
each
animal
proper
attention
and
exercise.Volunteers
help
out
by
taking
dogs
on
long
walks
so
dogs
can
get
exercised.
Walking
and
playing
with
the
animals
helps
them
become
better
suited
for
adoption,increasing
the
chance
that
they
will
find
a
home
and
live
happily
with
their
owners.
As
a
person
who
has
had
pets
all
my
life,
I
know
the
joy
and
happiness
that
a
pet
brings
to
a
person,a
family,and
the
world
in
general.Even
on
the
most
stressful
day,I
know
when
I
get
home
my
dog
will
be
sitting
there
ready
to
play
with
me
and
take
my
mind
off
from
whatever
is
causing
the
stress
I
am
experiencing.Volunteering
at
an
animal
shelter
gives
someone
the
opportunity
to
experience
what
I
have
all
the
time—a
warm,loving
animal
that
just
wants
to
have
fun
and
make
you
happy.So
make
the
time
to
make
an
animal
happy.Start
volunteering
today!
5.Which
of
the
following
about
the
author
is
TRUE?
A.He
is
a
college
student.
B.He
is
a
full?time
volunteer.
C.He
has
no
pet
dogs.
D.He
owns
an
animal
shelter.
A [细节理解题。根据文章第一句话可知作者是一名大学生。]
6.From
the
second
paragraph,we
can
know
that
the
author's
reaction
at
the
first
day
of
volunteering
was
a
strange
mixture
of

A.joy
and
anger
B.guilt,joy
and
sadness
C.guilt
and
joy
D.happiness,sadness
and
excitement
B [细节理解题。根据文章第二段“...had
a
mixture
of
feelings:I
felt
guilty
...I
felt
happy
...and
I
felt
sad...”可知B项正确。]
7.Volunteers
walk
the
animals
at
the
shelter
to
help
animals

A.draw
people's
attention
B.gain
people's
pity
C.get
special
care
D.get
enough
exercise
D [推理判断题。根据第三段最后一句“Volunteers
help
out
by
taking
dogs
on
long
walks
so
dogs
can
get
exercised.”可知答案。]
8.The
underlined
word
“adoption”
in
Paragraph
4
probably
means

A.walking
and
playing
with
these
animals
B.feeding
and
cleaning
these
animals
C.giving
these
animals
a
home
with
a
family
D.taking
these
animals
out
to
the
public
C [词义猜测题。根据该词所在句子的后一部分“...increasing
the
chance
that
they
will
find
a
home
and
live
happily
with
their
owners.”可知,adoption表示“收养”。]

I
remember
my
first
Christmas
adventure
with
Grandma.I
was
just
a
kid.
I
went
to
town
on
my
bike
to
visit
her
on
the
day
when
my
big
sister
told
me,“There
is
no
Santa
Claus,and
even
dummies
know
that!”
My
grandma
always
told
the
truth,always.I
fled
to
her
that
day
because
I
knew
she
would
stand
on
my
side.
Hearing
my
story,Grandma
was
ready
for
me.“No
Santa
Claus?”
she
shouted.“Ridiculous!Don't
believe
it.Such
rumors
have
been
going
around
for
years,and
it
makes
me
mad,plain
mad!Now,put
on
your
coat,and
let's
go.”
“Go?
Go
where,Grandma?”
I
asked.We
drove
to
Kerby's
General
Store.As
we
walked
through
its
doors,Grandma
handed
me
ten
dollars.That
was
a
bundle
in
those
days.“Take
the
money”,she
said,“and
buy
something
for
someone
who
needs
it.”
Then
she
went
away
and
waited
in
the
car.
I
was
only
eight
years
old.I'd
often
gone
shopping
with
my
mother,but
never
had
I
shopped
for
anything
all
by
myself.The
store
seemed
big
and
crowded,full
of
people
scrambling
(抢夺)
to
finish
their
Christmas
shopping.
For
a
few
moments
I
just
stood
there,confused,holding
that
ten?dollar
bill,wondering
what
to
buy
and
who
on
earth
to
buy
it
for.Then
I
suddenly
thought
of
Bobby
Decker.He
was
a
kid
with
bad
breath
and
messy
hair.Bobby
Decker
didn't
have
a
coat.I
knew
that
because
he
never
went
out
to
play
during
the
winter.His
mother
always
wrote
a
note,telling
the
teacher
that
he
had
a
cough,but
all
we
kids
knew
that
Bobby
Decker
didn't
have
a
cough;
he
didn't
have
a
good
coat.Yes,I
would
buy
Bobby
Decker
a
coat!
My
eyes
were
fixed
on
a
red
coat
which
looked
real
warm
and
he
would
like
that.
“Is
this
a
Christmas
present
for
someone?”
the
lady
behind
the
counter
asked
kindly,as
I
laid
my
ten
dollars
down.“
Yes,ma'am,”
I
replied
shyly.“It's
for
Bobby.”
Paragraph
1:
That
evening,Grandma
helped
me
wrap
the
coat
in
Christmas
paper
and
ribbons.
Paragraph
2:
Fifty
years
hasn't
reduced
the
excitement
of
those
moments.

to
live
if
you
are
short
of
money
or
unemployed.However,
for
those
with
much
income,
a
city
provides
colorful
environment
which
enables
people
to
enjoy
their
modern
life.In
that
case,
I
believe
the
advantages
of
urban
living
far
outweigh
from
its
shortcomings.
Regarding
shopping,
as
for
me,
rather
than
click
on
the
Internet
to
get
what
I
want,
I
prefer
to
windowshop.All
kinds
of
shopping
malls
and
supermarkets
located
in
city
centre
really
content
me.What's
more,
a
large
city's
service
even
covers
numbers
of
the
surrounding
towns
and
benefits
many
people.
In
terms
of
entertainment,
city
residents
are
usually
spoiled
for
choice,
from
amusement
park
to
sport
stadium,
whoever
you
are
will
find
exactly
you
need.Maybe
going
to
concert
tonight
and
visiting
museums
tomorrow.City
always
contains
various
activities
and
full
of
energy.
City
also
provides
better
opportunities
with
so
many
choices
and
challenges.Cities
with
universities
offer
high?standard
education
so
that
graduates
from
these
places
always
get
ideal
job
with
considerable
salary.Every
day
in
the
business
district,
you
can
see
a
fierce
competition
among
those
large
companies,
while
there
are
exactly
places
that
may
give
birth
to
talents.
Many
people
may
complain
about
the
traffic
jam
or
pollution
in
the
city,
but
I
think
with
some
useful
measures
to
take,
our
city
will
be
more
habitable
rather
than
stressful.

If
your
child
has
mobile
Internet
access,it
will
be
more
difficult
to
monitor(监督)and
control
his
or
her
Internet
use.Kids
are
turning
to
the
Internet
for
everything
from
hanging
out
with
friends
to
shopping,which
makes
it
harder
for
parents
to
keep
track
of
their
online
activities.Fortunately,there
are
many
choices
for
controlling
what
your
kids
see
on
their
computers,laptops,and
mobile
devices.
Content
blockers
and
filters
are
great
tools
to
use
for
younger
kids.They
allow
you
more
control
over
where
they
go
and
what
they
do
online.A
content
blocker
can
block
some
unhealthy
websites
or
limit
a
child's
search
to
the
kind
of
sites.A
content
filter
can
scan
sites
and
pictures
and
block
those
sites
that
contain
certain
words,key
phrases,or
contents.
Consider
tracking
software
for
older
teenagers.This
software
enables
you
to
see
which
sites
your
children
have
visited,tracking
their
path
online.This
tool
gives
young
people
more
freedom
to
explore
the
Internet,but
it
also
allows
you
to
check
that
they
are
using
the
Internet
responsibly.Let
your
teenagers
know
that
you
trust
them,but
that
you
will
be
regularly
checking
that
they
are
visiting
appropriate
sites
online.
Even
if
you
use
content
blockers,filters,and
trackers,you
know
that
a
lot
of
kids
figure
out
ways
to
get
around
these,so
it's
important
to
remain
alert(警惕的).Remember
that
not
all
adult
sites
can
be
identified
by
blocker,filter,or
tracker
software.That's
why
it's
important
to
talk
to
your
kids
about
what
to
do
when
something
inappropriate
or
scary
comes
up.Nothing
can
replace
involvement
and
supervision(监督)by
adults.Keep
monitoring
how
your
kids
use
the
Internet
on
a
regular
basis
without
getting
into
the
role
of
the
Internet
traffic
police.
