第四部分 阅读理解
Shoppers are now spending more than 100 billion dollars a year on line. Much of that money
comes from teens. However, kids are increasingly becoming the victims of online cheatings. Experts say it’s because teens are savvy (有见识的) about technology, but they lack the wisdom to spot a deal that is too good to be sure.
15-year-old Ari Whiteman, for example, was trying to sell a Playstation online. He found a buyer through Amazon Marketplace. The buyer offered to buy it for 50 dollars more than what Ari put it on for. Ari made sure that the buyer was the one that got it. Then the buyer e-mailed Ari directly, which looked professional.
“There is ads on here. It looks so real with the Amazon!” Says Ari.
Ari shipped off the Playstation, but never got paid. In total, he lost about $350. Finally in contacting Amazon they indicated that the purchase was likely fraudulent. They said that there was nothing they could do and this kind of things happens all the time.
Cheatings like this total almost 3 billion dollars a year. In fact, thieves often copy the websites of major retailers in order to steal credit card numbers. So how can you spot a false website?
If its address line says yourstore. com, chances are that you are okay. But if it’s got a lot of numbers, there is a good chance that you are on a wrong site. Be careful of sites with links that don’t work. Sometimes they will put just enough work there to make it look real. But then you will click on “today’s special”, “learn about us”, or “job opportunities” – all the links are dead.

Chart 1 shows the daily average amount of time the students of the school spend on different after-class activities. The students put the most time-93 minutes-into their homework, and next in line is watching TV, which takes up 46 minutes. They put in about the same amount of time listening to music and working on the computer, 34 minutes and 30 minutes each. While 25 minutes is spent on sports, only 12 minutes goes into housework.
As is shown on Chart 2, only 10% of the time is taken up with sports activities. I think the school should encourage the students to do more exercise after class. This way, they may be healthier and more energetic.
