1) 说明被修饰名词的____________,如:

= a result that is surprsing 一个惊人的结果
= a song that is tiring 一首烦人的歌曲
性质和用途
2) 表示被修饰名词____________的动作,如:
我们能看到冉冉升起的太阳。

正在做实验的那个学生是我们的班长。



We can see the rising sun.
= We can see the sun that is rising.
The student making the experiment is our monitor.
= The student who is making the experiment is our monitor.
正在进行
1) 做定语的-ing 形式表示的动作要与主句谓语动词同时发生,如果两者不能同时发生的话,则需使用定语从句。
昨天来的教授将会给我们一个演讲。
The professor coming here yesterday will give us alecture.
The professor who came here yesterday will give us a lecture.
2) having dong/ having been done 不做定语
The temple having been destryed by the earthquake will be built soon.
The temple which has been distroyed by the earthquake will be built soon.
3) V-ing, 过去分词,不定式做定语时的区别:
The meeting which is being held now is very important.
The meeting which was held yesterday is very important.
The meeting which is to be held tomorrow is very important.
明天要举行的会议非常重要。
昨天举行的会议非常重要。
正在举行的会议非常重要。

-ing形式作宾语补足语
1) 动词-ing形式作宾语补足语常放在宾语后面,表示一个正在进行的主动性的动作,强调一个正在进行的动作或一种状态。如:

当我们回到学校时, 发现一个陌生人站在大门口。
When we returned to the school, we found a stranger ___________at the entrance.
我发现地板上放着一个包。

2) 能用-ing形式作宾语补足语的几类动词:
a. 感官动词,常见的有see, hear, feel, smell, find, notice, observe, look at, listen to等。

b. 使役动词,常见的有have, set, keep, get, catch, leave等。如:

-ing形式作表语时放在系动词之后,用来泛指某种动作或行为,以说明主语的身份、性质或情况。如:
