美国人在每年四月（April)的第一个星期日要过复活节。复活节(Easter)是基督教徒纪念耶稣复活的日子，在此期间，人们往往要举行隆重的纪念活动，人们见面时说的第一句话通常是“主复活了！”这一天，许多人要互送和吃染了色的巧克力蛋（chocolate eggs），孩子们则吃兔子糖，讲有关兔子的故事。彩蛋和兔子都是复活节的吉祥物。复活节的晚上，每个家庭都要准备复活节家宴，传统主菜有烤羊肉、 熏火腿、 煮鸡蛋、 带十字的热馒头以及复活节兔形蛋糕等等。

Halloween 万圣节
万圣节(Halloween)是美国传统的富有戏剧性的孩子们的节日。据说，在10月31日那天晚上，所有的鬼都有会出现，而且面目丑陋的女巫也会出现，她身后还跟着一群黑猫和一些稻草人(scare crows)。于是，过节的人们也把自己打扮成妖魔鬼怪的模样相互逗乐。这一天最高兴的还是孩子们。晚上，他们会拿上一只南瓜灯笼（Jack-o’-lantern)。这种灯笼是把南瓜瓤掏空后，在其表面刻出一个类似人脸的图案，然后把点燃的蜡烛放在瓜内。烛光从瓜内透射出来，十分好看。孩子们穿上奇形怪状的衣服，带着各种各样的面具，打着五光十色的灯笼，挨家挨户地敲门。当主人刚把门打开，孩子们便会齐声叫道:“Trick or treat ”是请客还是捣蛋实际上这是一种游戏，主人早己准备好了可口的点心来招待过批可爱而又淘气的小家伙。
