Teaching Steps: 教学步骤
Teaching steps is the most important part in the English teaching, I have
decided the following steps to train their abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially reading and speaking abilities .
Step1 Warm-up and Lead-in
First let the students watch a video and then show the students some pictures of earthquake. Ask the students: What抯 happening? What do you think of the earthquake? Do you have an earthquake drill?
In this part, let the students say more about what they can see. In this way, they will know today抯 lesson about an earthquake.
Step2 Presentation
1. Learn new words. Look at the screen and study these new words: earthquake, warn, inside, calm, brave, helpful, power, keep and under. According to this way, the students can master these new words very well.
2. Play a game
Divide the class into four groups. Let each group look at the pictures, say the words as quickly as possible. After playing this game, they can remember these words easily.
3. Work in pairs. Look at the pictures and ask and answer the questions.
Where are the people?
What are they doing? Why?
4. Look at the title of the passage and think about what to do in the earthquake.
Stay away from windows and heavy furniture.
Let the students discuss and tell us their ideas.
Step3.Reading practice
Fast reading
Give students two minutes. Read the passage quickly and choose the best answers . This step is employed to make the students get the general idea of the passage.
Careful reading
(1)I抣l let students read the first paragragh. I抣l write the key points on the blackboard while they are reading. After reading, I抣l ask students to tell the sentences Tor F
(2)I抣l let students read the second paragragh and then answer the questions.
(3)Let the students read the third paragragh and then choose the best answer.
(4) Read the whole passage and decide if the following actions is right (√) or wrong(×).
Step4 Retell the passage.
Using the following key words to try to retell the passage, Give the students two or three minutes to prepare, and then get them retell the passage in three groups.
By retelling the passage and get the students to practise their reading and speaking abilities again.
Step5. Language points
Look at the blackboard , explain the important sentences. The students can master the passage well according to this.
Step6.Writing prictice
燱rite some instructions about what to do in an earthquake.
Now work in pairs. Check and share their instructions.
By doing this activity, improve the students writing abilities.
Step7.Summarize
Look at the blackboard, read the phrases and important sentences and then show them some exercises and help them to finish them.
Step 8Homework
1. Ask students to learn the sentences and phrases in Activity 1 by heart.
2. Ask students to write a short speech.
