【教学目标】
To be able to understand the conversation about living alone at home.
To learn about adverbial clauses of concession and result.
They can make a list about what their plans of staying at home.
【文化意识】
Help the students to know what the children in western countries do when they stay at home alone, and at the same time be more independent.
【情感态度】
Make them pay more attention to their abilities on living alone at home, and be high quality middle school students.

Key vocabulary — meeting, shut, platform, lock, passenger, address, a couple of, wake sb. up, text message
Key structures --- So am I.

Step 1 Warming-up & free talk
Greetings
( show a picture of the movie 揌ome alone)
T: Boys and girls, do you know these pictures?
S: Yes. It抯 about a movie.
T: What抯 the name of the movie?
S: Home alone.
T: Have you ever been home alone?
S: Yes, I have. / No, I don抰.
T: How do you look after yourself when you are alone at home?

Step 2 Presentation
Show a picture of Activity 2&3
Q1: Today I will introduce another girl, Betty, to you. Can you tell me what is the picture about?
S: It’s about Betty and her parents staying at the station.
Q2: Can you say something more about the picture?
S: ……
【设计意图】通过对图片的观察,为下一步的听力练习打下基础。
Listen to the tape, answer the questions.
Q1.Where are Betty and her parents? (They are at the station.)
Q2.Is Betty travelling with her parents? (No, she isn’t.)
Listen to the tape again, complete the sentences of Activity 3.
Q1.Will you be OK at home on your own.
Q2.I’ll miss you, too, and I’ll call you every day.
Q3.I’ll keep it tidy so that you’ll be proud of me when you get home.
【设计意图】 听过两遍听力,学生们对于独自在家的做法有了一定的了解。
Step 3 Show some pictures of the new words, lead them to say something of the words as quickly as they can.
meeting (have a meeting) , shut (shut the door/ shut up) , platform (on the platform) , lock (lock the door), passenger, address (leave one’s address), wake sb. up, a couple of (apples), text message (send/ receive a text message)
Choose the correct answer. (Activity 5)

Step 4 Learn the dialogue
Listen to the tape of the dialogue, try to answer the questions.
Q1. Where are Betty’s parents leaving for? (Lhasa.)
Q2. What does Betty’s mum ask Betty to eat? (Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.)
Q3. What will wake Betty up when her parents are away? (Her clock.)
Read the dialogue and fill in the blanks. Then talk about the answers in groups. (Activity 4)
【设计意图】先听后读对话填空,会对对话有了进一步的理解。
Step 5 Knowledge points

【设计意图】知识点的学习让学生们对本课对话的理解,起到了推波助澜的作用。
Step 6 Act out the dialogue.
Ask the students to practice acting the dialogue, then let two groups to come
to the front to act out the dialogue.
【设计意图】 对话表演,是学生们在学习课本的基础上,加上自己的想象力和创造力,为对话增加适当的内容。也是学生们对本课所学内容的一种应用。
Step 7 Homework
Memorizes the words, main phrases and sentences in this unit.
Make a short speech to talk about what you can do at home alone.
【设计意图】先记忆再实践的作业,使学生们对可上所学知识的巩固进一步得以应用,因此会印象更加深刻。

【教学反思】
把教学过程还给学生,教师作学生学习的引导者和合作者,是教授本节课的主导思想。Home alone从内容到思想都与学生的日常生活有着或多或少的联系,所以学生们在学习本课内容时还算比较得心应手。课堂效果较好。
学生预习准备比较充分,比较容易接受本课的内容和知识点,但学生们的表演能力尚有欠缺,今后的教学过正中还要加强对学生各方面能力的培养。
