3. instead和instead?of都有“代替”的意思,但两者的用法不同。
instead作副词,通常用于句首或句末。instead?of是短语介词,除了“代替”的意思,还可表示“而不是”,通常用于句中,后面可接名词、代词或动名词等。
instead和instead?of常可相互转换,如: He didn’t do his homework. Instead, he watched TV.
= He watched TV instead of doing his homework.
他没有做作业,而是看电视了。
4. No deal表示不同意,可译成“这不行”。deal在这里的意思是“协议”。在口语表达中,我们常用deal表示“达成协议”的意思。例如:
