1.The Great Barrier Reef
is located on the Northeastern coast of Australia. About almost 2300 km long (1430 miles), it is the largest living organism (生物) on the planet. The Australian Government has designated (命名) the reef as a Marine Park. (海洋公园)
It’s one of the natural wonders of the wonders of the world. It is the largest coral formation (珊瑚群) in the world and can be seen from outer space! In fact, it is not one reef but a chain of thousands.
More than 10,000 species (物种) live on The Great Barrier Reef . There are more than 1,500 kinds of fishes and 200 kinds of birds. The beauty of the reef also attracts thousands of visitors each year. They dive, or see the reef by glass-bottom boat .
