B
I
was
11
years
old
when
I
asked
my
mom
for
piano
lessons
in
2010.
We
were
in
the
fallout
of
the
recession
(经济衰退).
She
said
a
polite
“no”.
That
didn’t
stop
me.
I
drew
the
piano
keys
on
a
piece
of
paper
and
stuck
it
on
my
desk.
I
would
click
notes
on
an
online
keyboard
and
“play”
them
back
on
my
paper
one.
I
spent
six
months
playing
without
touching
a
real
piano.
Once
my
mom
saw
that
I
was
serious,
she
borrowed
money
and
bought
me
10
lessons.
I
still
remember
the
first
one.
I
was
moved
by
how
real
the
sound
of
the
piano
was.
I
sat
my
grade
one
after
eight
lessons.
Once
I
started
secondary
school,
we
couldn’t
afford
lessons
again.
I
passed
grade
three,
then
grade
five,
practicing
only
on
my
piece
of
paper.
One
evening,
when
I
was
about
13,
my
mom
said
she
had
a
surprise
for
me;
it
was
an
electronic
keyboard,
bought
with
more
borrowed
money.
It
was
the
first
time
I’d
played
for
her.
She
was
in
shock.
My
school
didn’t
offer
music
A-level.
I
found
the
Purcell
School
for
young
musicians.
The
tryouts
(选拔)
were
difficult.
Some
of
the
questions
includes
an
estimation
(评价)
of
the
composer
(作曲家)
or
when
it
was
written.
However,
I
was
finally
offered
a
place.?At
Purcell,
I
spent
two
years
working
as
hard
as
I
could.
I
performed
to
raise
money
and
bought
my
first
piano.
When
I
left
Purcell,
I
was
awarded
the
senior
piano
prize
and
senior
academic
music
prize.
I
am
now
at
the
Guildhall
School
in
London.
I
feel
proud:
it’s
been
10
years
since
I
drew
my
paper
piano,
and
I’m
at
one
of
the
world’s
leading
music
schools.?

With
their
school
still
closed
and
boredom
coming
in,
a
group
of
teenagers
decided
to
do
something
meaningful.
Since
April,
students
from
Lake
Highland
Preparatory
School
in
Florida,
US,
launched
a
free
online
tutoring
service
to
help
younger
students
with
their
schoolwork.
Since
then,
Orlando
Student
Tutoring
has
lined
up
about
50
students,
all
of
them
children
doing
assignments
from
home.
Their
services,
using
Zoom,
are
open
to
any
student
who
is
interested.
They’ve
received
signups
from
across
central
Florida
and,
much
to
their
surprise,
requests
from
students
in
other
states
such
as
California
and
Pennsylvania.
“We’ve
been
very
happy
to
actually
help,”
said
Jeffrey
Zhou,
17.
“I
didn’t
expect
we’d
get
as
many
students
as
we
did.”
The
core
group
of
tutors
are
members
of
Lake
Highland’s
robotics
club.
“We
were
all
just
so
bored,”
said
Pavan
Kanumalla,
17,
who
helped
get
the
tutoring
program
running.
Knowing
the
pandemic(流行病)
had
done
real
damage
to
many
others,
they
were
“feeling
guilty
about
being
bored
in
quarantine
(隔离期),”
he
said.
While
not
sure
what
to
do
at
first,
the
group
settled
on
tutoring
and
was
soon
designing
a
website
and
lining
up
other
students
to
serve
as
tutors.
“We’re
just
trying
to
have
the
biggest
influence
we
can,”
Kanumalla
said.
Brooks
Ellson,
17,
also
joined
in
as
a
tutor.
He
helped
a
third
grader
who
needed
help
with
math,
saying
it
felt
good
“just
to
offer
something,
to
give
back.”
And,
he
admitted,
it
was
something
to
help
fill
the
long
days.
The
students
plan
to
continue
over
the
summer,
offering
fun,
summer-camp
type
classes
to
younger
kids.

D
While
it’s
no
surprise
that
heavy
drinking
comes
with
health
problems,
women
will
experience
more
serious
symptoms(症状)
from
alcohol

including
an
increased
risk
of
alcohol-related
death,
according
to
a
new
study.
The
researchers
found
that’s
even
more
alarming
considering
the
number
of
women
who
are
drinking
alcohol
too
much
is
on
the
rise,
according
to
the
National
Institute
on
Alcohol
Abuse
and
Alcoholism
(NIAAA).
Even
though
men
are
not
only
more
likely
to
drink
alcohol
but
also
more
of
it,
alcohol
hits
women
harder.
The
Centers
for
Disease
Control
and
Prevention
(CDC)
says
that
“gender
differences
in
body
structure
and
chemistry
cause
women
to
take
in
more
alcohol,
and
take
longer
to
metabolize
and
remove
it
from
their
bodies,”
adding,
“These
differences
also
make
it
more
likely
that
drinking
will
cause
long-term
health
problems
in
women
than
men.”
Heavy
drinking
also
impacts
heart
health.
The
CDC
states
that
studies
show
women
who
drink
overmore
have
a
higher
risk
of
damaging
the
heart
muscle
than
men.
Keith
Humphreys,
a
professor
studying
alcohol
drinking
at
Stanford
University
explains
that,
one
of
the
reasons
why
alcohol
has
a
more
effect
on
women
is
because,
on
average,
they
weigh
less
than
men.
According
to
the
NIAAA,
“Alcohol
resides
predominantly
in
body
water,
and,
women
have
less
water
in
their
bodies
than
men.
This
means
that
after
a
woman
and
a
man
of
the
same
weight
drink
the
same
amount
of
alcohol,
the
woman’s
blood
alcohol
concentration
will
tend
to
be
higher,
putting
her
at
greater
risk
for
harm.”But
it’s
not
just
about
size.
Research
shows
women
also
have
fewer
Alcohol
Dehydrogenase
Enzymes(脱氢酶),
which
help
the
body
metabolize
alcohol.
The
U.S.
Dietary
Guidelines
for
Americans
has
suggested
that
when
drinking
alcohol,
it
should
be
done
properly:
up
to
two
drink
per
day
for
women
and
one
drink
per
day
for
men
of
legal
drinking
age.

Your
Path
to
Greatness
Do
you
know
there
is
something
greater
for
you?
Do
you
have
ideas
on
what
that
may
be,
but
can’t
make
them
happen?
Here
are
four
steps
to
help
you
get
started:
?
36
Many
times
we
live
based
on
others’
expectations.
Own
your
path.
It
can
be
hard
to
do,
but
allow
yourself
to
focus
on
your
heart.
Look
within
yourself
deeply,
and
decide
what
you
want
and
what’s
true
for
you.

Take
action.
There
is
no
better
time
to
create
the
life
you
want
than
right
this

!
37
To
get
started,
you
just
need
to
put
one
foot
in
front
of
the
other.
Baby
steps
are
key!
If
you
want
to
start
going
to
the
gym,
going
from
1
day
a
week
to
5
days
a
week
right
away
is
extreme.
Instead,
start
slow
and
go
once
or
twice
a
week.
After
you
do
that
for

?
Be
determined.
Even
if
you
are
working
hard
towards
your
goal,there
may
be
bumps
on
the
road—don’t
give
up.
39
So
if
you
are
trying
to
eat
better,
and
you
have
a
day
when
you
aren’t
sticking
to
the
plan,
don’t
give
up.
Accept
that
moment,
and
then
keep
moving
on.

Have
the
right
support.
40
List
the
right
support
to
cheer
you
on
in
the
process.
It
could
be
a
friend
or
a
family
member.
Or,
a
3rd
party
like
a
coach
can
give
you
an
outsider
opinion.
Whoever
it
may
be,having
someone
you
can
believe
in
will
be
just
what
you
need
to
keep
you
on
track.
A.
Don’t
do
it
alone.
B.
Follow
your
own
heart.
C.
Timing
is
never
perfect.
D.
Depend
mainly
on
yourself.
E.
Action
always
speaks
louder
than
words.
F.
Over
time,
you
will
achieve
your
goal
by
taking
realistic
and
smaller
steps.
G.
These
bumps
help
you
grow
and
make
you
stronger
every
time
you
get
past
them.

“Don’t
judge
a
book
by
its
cover.”
This
old
saying
is
useful
when
you
are
making
41
in
high
school.
Now
look
around
you
and
carefully
42
.
See
the
quiet,
“strange”
girl
who
sits
next
to
you?
See
the

43

boy
with
his
head
down
who
sits
at
the
lunch
table
all
by
himself?
Did
you
44
think
they
could
be
your
new
best
friends?
Why
not?
All
you’ve
45
about
them
is
what
others
are
telling
you,
but
it
might
not
even
be
the
46

This
is
where
the
whole
“Don’t
judge

book

thing
47
.
To
judge
is
to
48
an
opinion
or
evaluation.
In
school,
the
act
of
judging
another
person
or
being
judged
yourself
is
49
.
Here’s
some
50
before
you
get
into
judging
another
person:
Get
to
know
people
51
you
totally
52
them
or
keep
away
from
them.
And,
whatever
you
do,
do
not
53
anything
others
say
about
people
unless
they
are
54
to
them.
Are
you
being
judged?
If
you
are
being
judged,
55
to
the
person
who
is
doing
it.
This
will
give
the
person
no
56
but
to
get
to
know
who
you
really
are.
After
you
have
done
that,
their
57
about
you
will
change
as
time
goes
by,
for
better
or
worse.
58
it’s
for
the
better,
great.
You
met
someone
new.
If
it’s
for
the
worse,
don’t
get

It’s
only
one
person’s
opinion.
Be
yourself,
and
try
not
to
be

by
other
people.

作文
One
possible
version:
Hello,
everyone!
I’m
happy
to
speak
about
how
to
be
a
modern
middle
school
student.
I
think
each
of
us
can
make
it.
Firstly,
be
a
good
child
at
home.
We
should
understand
our
parents
and
help
do
some
housework
when
we
are
free,
especially
during
holidays.
Secondly,
be
a
good
student
at
school,
where
we
ought
to
obey
the
school
rules,
respect
our
teachers
and
try
our
best
to
learn
our
lessons
well.
Thirdly,
be
a
good
citizen
in
society.
What’s
the
most
important
is
that
we
should
behave
politely
in
public
places.
Besides,
we
should
show
respect
to
the
old
as
well
as
love
to
the
young.
Thanks
for
listening.
