【原文】W:
Are
you
going
to
find
a
job
this
summer?
M:
Yes,
of
course.
Otherwise,
how
am
I
going
to
pay
the
school
fees
for
my
third
year
in
college?
W:
I
am
thinking
of
working
too
but
my
parents
insist
I
have
to
spend
some
time
with
them
during
the
summer.
You
know,
I
haven’t
seen
them
for
two
years.
M:
Why
haven’t
you
been
home
for
so
long?
W:
My
parents
were
volunteering
in
an
organization
in
South
America
for
the
last
couple
of
years.
M:
In
that
case,
it’s
probably
more
important
for
you
to
visit
them
this
summer.
W:
That’s
true,
but
I
didn’t
want
to
spend
the
whole
summer
at
home.
I
want
to
make
some
money
and
pay
off
my
tuition
fees
too.
M:
Well,
you
can
always
get
a
loan.
The
rate
is
not
high
and
the
procedure
is
easy.
W:
Loan?
I
hate
the
idea
of
borrowing.
I
would
rather
make
my
own
money
and
pay
it
off.
M:
I
know,
but
it’s
common
for
people
to
pay
their
school
fees
once
they’ve
graduated.
W:
Yes,
but
that’s
exactly
what
I
didn’t
want
to
get
myself
into.
So
what
do
I
do
about
money?
M:
Well,
why
not
do
both?
You
can
work
a
part-time
job
when
you
are
at
home.
W:
I
was
thinking
about
that
but
my
parents
think
I
should
be
at
home
with
them
full-time.
M:
Well,
I
think
you
have
to
make
a
decision
then.

第二部分
阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节
单项选择(共15题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
A
short
while
ago,
I
lost
access
to
my
WeChat
account.
I
am
not
sure
why
it
wouldn’t
let
me
log
in;
perhaps
it
was
my
ancient,
out-of-date
phone.
But
I
wasn’t
too
upset
because
it
offered
me
an
opportunity
to
take
a
break
from
social
media
---
something
more
and
more
people
are
doing.
In
the
United
States,
Twitter
is
losing
millions
of
users
each
month
and
Facebook
has
seen
a
44
percent
decline
among
its
younger
users.
Some
of
these
users
may
have
deserted
Twitter
and
Facebook
for
other
social
media
platforms,
while
many
others
have
quit
because
they
felt
that
social
media
was
having
a
negative
effect
on
their
happiness
and
overall
quality
of
life.
Stars
such
as
Taylor
Swift
and
Ed
Sheeren
have
taken
a
break
from
social
media
because
they
were
tired
of
many
Internet
trolls(网络喷子)
leaving
negative
comments.
Ordinary
people
(like
me)
are
turning
away
from
it
because
of
the
feeling
that
they
were
spending
more
time
online
and
enjoying
it
less.
It
is
not
unusual
for
people
to
spend
two
or
three
hours
a
day
posing
or
reading
posts,
to
the
point
where
it
becomes
an
addiction.
And
it
is
an
addiction.
There
is
a
chemical
in
your
brain
known
as
dopamine(多巴胺)
which
is
sometimes
called
the
“reward
molecule”
and
its
release
gives
you
a
feeling
of
pleasure.
For
instance,
when
you
post
a
photo
on
WeChat
and
get
a
hundred
likes,
you
feel
happy.
That’s
dopamine
at
work.
In
my
case,
being
off
WeChat
left
me
with
a
feeling
of
anxiety
for
a
few
days.
No
doubt
I
missed
my
dopamine.
And
I
got
e-mails
from
friends
wondering
if
I
was
fine
or
if
I
was
just
being
anti-social.
But
I
soon
began
to
feel
quite
peaceful
and
started
to
worry
less
about
what
other
people
were
doing
and
concentrate
more
on
my
personal
life.
And
it
is
an
added
bonus
that
I’m
getting
better
sleep
at
night.
I’m
not
advocating
that
all
of
you
quit
social
media,
but
spending
less
time
on
these
platforms
does
bring
you
advantages.
You
could
start
by
leaving
your
phone
at
home
when
you
go
to
school
(For
some,
that’s
already
a
school
rule).
And
it
is
also
a
good
idea
to
charge
your
phone
outside
of
your
bedroom
at
night,
as
you
are
unlikely
to
get
a
good
night’s
sleep
when
the
notification(通知)
bell
keeps
ringing.
Someday
I
may
reconnect
with
my
WeChat
account,
but
I'
m
not
in
a
hurry.
Life
can
be
more
relaxing
and
just
as
interesting
without
it.

【答案】21.
A
22.
C
23.
B
24.
C
【解析】
这是一篇议论文。文章主要讲了由于某些原因,作者暂时无法登陆微信,远离了社交媒体,这反而让作者感到轻松快乐。作者告诉人们“暂时远离社交媒体是明智的选择”,并就其原因进行了分析。
【21题详解】
推理判断题。根据下文内容,尤其是第二段“Some
of
these
users
may
have
deserted
Twitter
and
Facebook
for
other
social
media
platforms,
while
many
others
have
quit
because
they
felt
that
social
media
was
having
a
negative
effect
on
their
happiness
and
overall
quality
of
life.”(其中一些用户可能已经放弃了Twitter和Facebook,转而使用其他社交媒体平台,而另一些人放弃社交媒体是因为他们觉得社交媒体对他们的幸福感和整体生活质量产生了负面影响)和第三段“Stars
such
as
Taylor
Swift
and
Ed
Sheeren
have
taken
a
break
from
social
media
because
they
were
tired
of
many
Internet
trolls(网络喷子)
leaving
negative
comments.
Ordinary
people
(like
me)
are
turning
away
from
it
because
of
the
feeling
that
they
were
spending
more
time
online
and
enjoying
it
less.”(泰勒·斯威夫特和艾德·希林等明星已经有一段时间没有使用社交媒体了,因为他们已经受够了网络上的恶意评论。普通人(像我)正逐渐远离网络,因为他们觉得自己花在网上的时间更多了,而从中得到的乐趣却更少了)以及第四段“It
is
not
unusual
for
people
to
spend
two
or
three
hours
a
day
posing
or
reading
posts,
to
the
point
where
it
becomes
an
addiction.”(人们每天花两到三个小时来发帖子或阅读帖子是很平常的事,甚至到了上瘾的地步)可知下文主要讲了社交媒体的缺点,由此推知,作者在开头提到了自己与微信的脱节,是为了介绍了社交媒体的缺点。故选A。
【22题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段“In
the
United
States,
Twitter
is
losing
millions
of
users
each
month
and
Facebook
has
seen
a
44
percent
decline
among
its
younger
users.
Some
of
these
users
may
have
deserted
Twitter
and
Facebook
for
other
social
media
platforms,
while
many
others
have
quit
because
they
felt
that
social
media
was
having
a
negative
effect
on
their
happiness
and
overall
quality
of
life.”(在美国,Twitter每个月都有数百万用户流失,而Facebook的年轻用户减少了44%。其中一些用户可能已经放弃了Twitter和Facebook,转而使用其他社交媒体平台,而另一些人放弃社交媒体是因为他们觉得社交媒体对他们的幸福感和整体生活质量产生了负面影响)可知美国社交媒体的现状是越来越多的人对社交媒体失去兴趣。故选C。
【23题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第四段“It
is
not
unusual
for
people
to
spend
two
or
three
hours
a
day
posing
or
reading
posts,
to
the
point
where
it
becomes
an
addiction.
And
it
is
an
addiction.
There
is
a
chemical
in
your
brain
known
as
dopamine(多巴胺)
which
is
sometimes
called
the
“reward
molecule”
and
its
release
gives
you
a
feeling
of
pleasure.
For
instance,
when
you
post
a
photo
on
WeChat
and
get
a
hundred
likes,
you
feel
happy.
That’s
dopamine
at
work.”(人们每天花两到三个小时来发帖子或阅读帖子是很平常的事,甚至到了上瘾的地步。这是一种瘾。在你的大脑中有一种叫做多巴胺的化学物质,它有时被称为“奖励分子”,它的释放会给你一种快乐的感觉。例如,当你在微信上发布了一张照片,得到了100个赞,你会感到高兴。这是多巴胺在起作用)可知第四段对人们沉迷于社交媒体背后的原因进行了分析。故选B。
【24题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“I’m
not
advocating
that
all
of
you
quit
social
media,
but
spending
less
time
on
these
platforms
does
bring
you
advantages.”(我并不是主张大家都放弃社交媒体,但是少花点时间在这些平台上确实会给你带来好处)和最后一段“Someday
I
may
reconnect
with
my
WeChat
account,
but
I'
m
not
in
a
hurry.
Life
can
be
more
relaxing
and
just
as
interesting
without
it.”(有一天我可能会重新连接我的微信帐户,但我不着急。没有它,生活会更轻松,一样有趣)可推知作者对社交媒体的态度是“暂时远离它们是明智的选择”。故选C。

No
one
has
a

naturally
so

that
it
does

attention
and

and
no
one

One
of
the

There

corners

in
life,
against
which
we
may
run,
and
at
which
we
may
break
out
in
impatience,
if
we

Look
at
Roger
Sherman,
who
rose
from
a
humble
occupation
to
a
seat
in
the
first
Congress
of
the
United
States,
and
whose
judgment
was
received
with
great
respect
by
that
body
of
distinguished
men.
He
made
himself
master
of
his
temper
and
cultivated
it
as
a
great
business
in
life.
There
are
one
or
two
instances
which
show
this
part
of
his
character
in
a
light
that
is
beautiful.
One
day,
after
having
received
his
highest
honors,
he
was
sitting
and
reading
in
his
sitting
room.
A
student,
in
a
room
close
by,
held
a
looking?glass
in
such
a
position
as
to
pour
the
reflected
rays
of
the
sun
directly
in
Mr
Sherman's
face.
He
moved
his
chair,
and
the
thing
was
repeated.
A
third
time
the
chair
was
moved,
but
the
looking?glass
still
reflected
the
sun
in
his
eyes.
He
laid
aside
his
book,
went
to
the
window,
and
many
witnesses
of
the
rude
behavior
expected
to
see
the
ungentlemanly
student
severely
punished.
He
raised
the
window
gently,
and
then—shut
the
window
blind!
I
can
not
help
providing
another
instance
of
the
power
he
had
acquired
over
himself.
He
was
naturally
possessed
of
strong
passions,
but
over
these
he
at
length
obtained
an
extraordinary
control.
He
became
habitually
calm
and
self?possessed.
Mr
Sherman
was
one
of
those
men
who
are
not
ashamed
to
maintain
the
forms
of
religion
in
their
families.
One
morning
he
called
them
all
together
as
usual
to
lead
them
in
prayer
to
God.
The
“old
family
Bible”
was
brought
out
and
laid
on
the
table.
Mr
Sherman
took
his
seat
and
placed
beside
him
one
of
his
children,
a
child
of
his
old
age.
The
rest
of
the
family
were
seated
around
the
room,
several
of
whom
were
now
grown?ups.
Besides
these,
some
of
the
tutors
of
the
college
were
boarders
in
the
family
and
were
present
at
the
time.
His
aged
mother
occupied
a
corner
of
the
room,
opposite
the
place
where
the
distinguished
Judge
sat.
At
length,
he
opened
the
Bible
and
began
to
read.
The
child
who
was
seated
beside
him
made
some
little
disturbance,
upon
which
Mr
Sherman
paused
and
told
it
to
be
still.
Again
he
continued
but
again
he
had
to
pause
to
scold
the
little
offender,
whose
playful
character
would
scarcely
permit
it
to
be
still.
At
this
time
he
gently
tapped
its
ear.
The
blow,
if
blow
it
might
be
called,
caught
the
attention
of
his
aged
mother,
who
now
with
some
effort
rose
from
the
seat
and
tottered
across
the
room.
At
length,
she
reached
the
chair
of
Mr
Sherman,
and
in
a
moment,
most
unexpectedly
to
him,
she
gave
him
a
blow
on
the
ear
with
all
the
force
she
could
gather.
“There,”
said
she,
“you
strike
your
child,
and
I
will
strike
mine.”
For_a_moment,_the_blood_was_seen_mounting_to_the_face_of_Mr_Sherman.
But
it
was
only
for
a
moment
and
all
was
calm
and
mild
as
usual.
He
paused;
he
raised
his
glasses;
he
cast
his
eye
upon
his
mother;
again
it
fell
upon
the
book
from
which
he
had
been
reading.
Not
a
word
escaped
him;
but
again
he
calmly
pursued
the
service,
and
soon
sought
in
prayer
an
ability
to
set
an
example
before
his
household
which
should
be
worthy
of
their
imitation.
Such
a
victory
was
worth
more
than
the
proudest
one
ever
achieved
on
the
field
of
battle.

【解析】
本文是一篇记叙文,我们可以通过训练培养我们的脾气。没有人天生就有一个好脾气,好到这个脾气都不用加以注意和培养。也没有人的脾气坏到无可救药,通过合理培养,坏脾气也能变好,文章列举了美国国会的议员罗杰·谢尔曼的故事说明可以通过训练控制自己的情绪。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段三四句可知:我就遇到过这样一位绅士,加以训练,最好的脾气甚至可以出现在他这样一个天生急躁易怒,鲁莽粗暴的人身上;通过照顾病人,尤其是通过对精神病患者的照顾,他完全掌控了自己的脾气,以至于人们自然而然误以为他从不失控。第二段第一句承上启下,串联第二段二三句,它们告诉我们:你的性格主宰着你,又一而再再而三地困扰着你,没有什么事情比这更持续不断,更让人痛苦烦恼,更让他人难以忍受的了。在人生的每个转角,我们都会碰到很多困难,遇到这些困难时如果我们选择失去耐心,大可以爆发。本句意为“掌控好自己脾气的人和未能掌控好脾气的人因此所获得的幸福具有天壤之别。”把这两段内容连在了一起。故A项正确。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。文章从第三段开始讲述美国国会的议员罗杰·谢尔曼的故事说明可以通过训练控制自己的情绪。所以本文是通过举例说明的方法组织全文。故B项正确。
【27题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段最后两句“最后,她总算来到谢尔曼先生的椅子旁边。顿了顿,让谢尔曼先生没有预料到的是,她用力地往他耳朵上一巴掌打了过去,边说着:“好啊,你打你的孩子,我打我自己的。”以及最后一段前三句“顿时,谢尔曼先生涨红了脸;但是片刻之后,一切又恢复了往常的平静。谢尔曼先生停下来,抬了抬他的眼镜;看了看老母亲,转而视线又回到了他刚在看的书上。他什么也没说,只是继续平静地进行仪式。”可知,罗杰·谢尔曼通过巨大的毅力容忍了她的母亲。故C项正确。
【28题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章倒数第三段第二句“他天性情感充沛,但最后却很好地掌控了这一切。他养成了冷静沉着的习惯,自控力很强。”可知,罗杰·谢尔曼非常冷静。对自己的行为会导致的结果非常清楚。所以在最后两段中才能容忍母亲的行为。故D项正确。
【29题详解】
猜测句意题。根据倒数第二段最后一句“顿了顿,让谢尔曼先生没有预料到的是,她用力地往他耳朵上一巴掌打了过去,边说着:“好啊,你打你的孩子,我打我自己的。”可知,他的母亲打了他,这让他非常难看,情绪处于失控的边缘。横线句与C项语意相近。故C项正确。
C
Old
problem,new
approaches
While
clean
energy
is
increasingly
used
in
our
daily
life,global
warming
will
continue
for
some
decades
after
CO2
emissions
(排放)
peak.
So
even
if
emissions
were
to
begin
to
decrease
today,we
would
still
face
the
challenge
of
adapting
to
climate
change.
Here
I
will
stress
some
smarter
and
more
creative
examples
of
climate
adaptation.
When
it
comes
to
adaptation,it
is
important
to
understand
that
climate
change
is
a
process.
We
are
therefore
not
talking
about
adapting
to
a
new
standard,but
to
a
constantly
shifting
set
of
conditions.
This
is
why,
in
part
at
least,the
US
National
Climate
Assessment
says
that:“There
is
no
‘one?size
fits
all’
adaptation.”
Nevertheless,there
are
some
actions
that
offer
much
and
carry
little
risk
or
cost.
Around
the
world,
people
are
adapting
in
surprising
ways,especially
in
some
poor
countries.
Floods
have
become
more
damaging
in
Bangladesh
in
recent
decades.
Mohammed
Rezwan
saw
opportunity
where
others
saw
only
disaster.
His
not?for?profit
organization
runs
100
river
boats
that
serve
as
floating
libraries,schools,and
health
clinics,and
are
equipped
with
solar
panels
and
other
communicating
facilities.
Rezwan
is
creating
floating
connectivity(连接)
to
replace
flooded
roads
and
highways.
But
he
is
also
working
at
a
far
more
fundamental
level:his
staff
show
people
how
to
make
floating
gardens
and
fish
ponds
to
prevent
starvation
during
the
wet
season.
Elsewhere
in
Asia
even
more
astonishing
actions
are
being
taken.
Chewang
Norphel
lives
in
a
mountainous
region
in
India,
where
he
is
known
as
the
Ice
Man.
The
loss
of
glaciers
(冰川)
there
due
to
global
warming
represents
an
enormous
threat
to
agriculture.
Without
the
glaciers,
water
will
arrive
in
the
rivers
at
times
when
it
can
damage
crops.
Norphel's
inspiration
came
from
seeing
the
waste
of
water
over
winter,
when
it
was
not
needed.
He
directed
the
wasted
water
into
shallow
basins
where
it
froze,
and
was
stored
until
the
spring.
His
fields
of
ice
supply
perfectly
timed
irrigation(灌溉)
water.
Having
created
nine
such
ice
reserves,
Norphel
calculates
that
he
has
stored
about
200,000m3
of
water.
Climate
change
is
a
continuing
process,
so
Norphel's
ice
reserves
will
not
last
forever.
Warming
will
overtake
them.
But
he
is
providing
a
few
years
during
which
the
farmers
will,
perhaps,
be
able
to
find
other
means
of
adapting.
Increasing
Earth's
reflectiveness
can
cool
the
planet.
In
southern
Spain
the
sudden
increase
of
greenhouses
(which
reflect
light
back
to
space)
has
changed
the
warming
trend
locally,
and
actually
cooled
the
region.
While
Spain
as
a
whole
is
heating
up
quickly,
temperatures
near
the
greenhouses
have
decreased.
This
example
should
act
as
an
inspiration
for
all
cities.
By
painting
buildings
white,
cities
may
slow
down
the
warming
process.
In
Peru,
local
farmers
around
a
mountain
with
a
glacier
that
has
already
fallen
victim
to
climate
change
have
begun
painting
the
entire
mountain
peak
white
in
the
hope
that
the
added
reflectiveness
will
restore
the
life?giving
ice.
The
outcome
is
still
far
from
clear.
But
the
World
Bank
has
included
the
project
on
its
list
of
“100
ideas
to
save
the
planet”.
More
ordinary
forms
of
adaptation
are
happening
everywhere.
A
friend
of
mine
owns
an
area
of
land
in
western
Victoria.
Over
five
generations
the
land
has
been
too
wet
for
cropping.
But
during
the
past
decade
declining
rainfall
has
allowed
him
to
plant
highly
profitable
crops.
Farmers
in
many
countries
are
also
adapting
like
this—either
by
growing
new
produce,
or
by
growing
the
same
things
differently.
This
is
common
sense.
But
some
suggestions
for
adapting
are
not.
When
the
polluting
industries
argue
that
we've
lost
the
battle
to
control
carbon
pollution
and
have
no
choice
but
to
adapt,
it's
a
nonsense
designed
to
make
the
case
for
business
as
usual.
Human
beings
will
continue
to
adapt
to
the
changing
climate
in
both
ordinary
and
astonishing
ways.
But
the
most
sensible
form
of
adaptation
is
surely
to
adapt
our
energy
systems
to
emit
less
carbon
pollution.
After
all,
if
we
adapt
in
that
way,
we
may
avoid
the
need
to
change
in
so
many
others.

本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了世界各地应对全球变暖的方法。
【30题详解】
词句猜测题。划线句句意为"并没有一种万全之策",下一句的Nevertheless表示转折,再根据there?are?some?actions?that?offer?much?and?carry?little?risk?or?cost.(有些行为提供了很多,但风险或成本很小)可知,没有放之四海而皆准的方法,即适应是根据具体情况而不断做出调整,而非一成不变,故选A项。
【31题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段第二句“Mohammed
Rezwan
saw
opportunity
where
others
saw
only
disaster.
(穆罕默德·雷兹万看到了机会,而其他人只看到灾难)”以及该段其它内容可知,在洪水这一灾害面前,Rezwan
看到了机遇,他充分利用不利的情况,故选C项。
【32题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段的“The
loss
of
glaciers(冰川)there
due
to
global
warming
represents
an
enormous
threat
to
agriculture…Norphel’s
inspiration
come
from
seeing
the
waste
of
water
over
winter,
when
it
was
not
needed.
He
directed
the
wasted
water
into
shallow
basins
where
it
froze,
and
was
stored
until
the
spring.(由于全球变暖那里的冰川的消失对农业是一个巨大的威胁,Norphel的灵感来自看到在冬天不需要水时水的浪费,他把浪费掉的水引进低洼的盆地,在那里水结冰,一直储存到春天)
”可知,“冰人”的减轻全球变暖的影响的方法是将冰储存起来,以备春天用,而这种方法并没有改变和保护冰川的融化和灌溉的时间,故排除B、C和D项。故选A项。
【33题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段“Increasing
Earth’s
reflectiveness
can
cool
the
planet….
By
painting
buildings
white,
cities
may
slow
down
the
warming
process.(
增加地球的反射率可以使地球降温。通过将建筑物刷成白色,城市可以减缓变暖的进程)”以及第六段“painting
the
entire
mountain
peak
white
in
the
hope
that
the
added
reflectiveness
will
restore
the
life-giving
ice(把整个山峰涂成白色希望增添发射性,恢复救命的冰)”可知,通过将墙涂成白色,利用反射原理可以缓解全球气候变暖,下文Peru的措施证明了这一点,太阳反射也许能够减轻全球变暖的问题。故选D项。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第七段“When
the
polluting
industries
argue
that
we’ve
lost
the
battle
to
control
carbon
pollution
and
have
no
choice
but
to
adapt,
it’s
a
nonsense
designed
to
make
the
case
for
business
as
usual.
(当污染企业争辩说,我们已经失去了控制碳污染的战斗,别无选择,只能适应时,这是一种旨在证明一切照旧的胡说八道。)”以及最后一段“But
the
most
sensible
form
of
adaptation
is
surely
to
adapt
our
energy
systems
to
emit
less
carbon
pollution.
(但最明智的适应方式无疑是调整我们的能源系统,以减少碳污染的排放)”可知,目前一些污染工业说他们已经失去了对碳污染的控制,但作者认为,这个说辞是“胡说”,故可直接选择与“失去控制、适当妥协”意义相反的选项,即与污染积极斗争,以减少碳排放,防止工业污染中二氧化碳的排放,故选D项。
【35题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后两句“But
the
most
sensible
form
of
adaptation
is
surely
to
adapt
our
energy
systems
to
emit
less
carbon
pollution.
After
all,
if
we
adapt
in
the
way,
we
may
avoid
the
need
to
change
in
so
many
others.(但最明智的适应方式无疑是调整我们的能源系统,以减少碳污染的排放。毕竟,如果我们以这种方式适应,我们就可以避免很多其他方面的改变。)”可知,作者认为最合理的应对全球变暖的方法是以减少二氧化碳的排放,此举将避免在其他很多方面改变。故选B项。

【解析】
这是一篇说明文。文章主要以Austen为例,说明了虽然Austen今天享有的全球赞赏的背后,存在着一个可悲的事实——在她那个时代,Austen的名字从未出现在她的书中。由此说明了历史中女性作家因为不受重视和社会偏见在文学创作中不得不使用笔名的社会现象,这种偏见即使在20世纪也仍在现实中存在。
【36题详解】
根据上文But
behind
the
global
admiration
she
enjoys
today
lies
a
sad
fact.可知但在她今天享有的全球赞赏的背后,存在着一个可悲的事实。由此可知,本句承接上文说明这个关于Austen可悲的事实是什么。故F选项“在她那个时代,Austen的名字从未出现在她的书中”符合上下文语境,故选F。
【37题详解】
根据后文Tom
Paine,
a
Founding
Father
of
the
United
States,
kept
his
identity
hidden
for
a
short
time
after
the
publication
of
his
famous
Common
Sense.可知美国开国元勋Tom
Paine在他著名的《常识》出版后,短暂地隐瞒了自己的身份。由此可知,本段是在说明政客们隐藏身份的事情。故C选项“出于安全考虑,政客们也经常选择隐藏身份”符合上下文语境,故选C。
【38题详解】
根据后文Charlotte
Bronte,
author
of
Jane
Eyre,
once
sent
her
poetry
to
Robert
Southey,
a
famous
poet.
Southey
simply
responded:
“Literature
cannot
be
the
business
of
a
woman's
life.”可知《简·爱》的作者Charlotte
Bronte曾将她的诗歌寄给著名诗人Robert
Southey。Southey只是简单地回答说:“文学不能成为女人的生活。”由此可知,当时女性作家并不受人重视。故B选项“女性的写作很少受到重视”符合上下文语境,故选B。
【39题详解】
根据后文Mary
Shelley's
Frankenstein
had
come
out
without
her
name
in
1818.Mary
Anne
Evans
wrote
Middlemarch
and
her
other
novels
under
the
pen
name
George
Eliot.可知Mary
Shelley的《弗兰肯斯坦》在1818年问世时没有署名。Mary
Anne
Evans以George
Eliot的笔名创作了《米德尔马契》和其他小说。由此可知,此处是在说明Charlotte
Bronte和许多其他女性作家一样选择隐藏自己身份,用笔名来署名自己的小说。故G选项“她们加入了一长串觉得自己必须隐藏的女性作家的行列”符合上下文语境,故选G。
【40题详解】
根据后文Joanne
Rowling,
author
of
the
Harry
Potter
novels,
was
advised
to
become
J.K.Rowling.
That's
because
boys
might
dislike
the
feeling
of
picking
up
a
book
by
a
woman.可知《哈利·波特》系列小说的作者Joanne
Rowling曾被建议成为J.
K.
Rowling。这是因为男孩可能不喜欢拿起女人写的书的感觉。由此可知,即使20世纪,性别平等取得了巨大进步,但是某些偏见在现实中还是存在的。故D选项“然而,实际上,某些偏见是无法消除的”符合上下文语境,故选D。

phone.
But
I
wasn’t
too
upset
because
it
offered
me
an
opportunity
to
take
a
break
from
social
media
---
something
more
and
more
people
are
doing.
In
the
United
States,
Twitter
is
losing
millions
of
users
each
month
and
Facebook
has
seen
a
44
percent
decline
among
its
younger
users.
Some
of
these
users
may
have
deserted
Twitter
and
Facebook
for
other
social
media
platforms,
while
many
others
have
quit
because
they
felt
that
social
media
was
having
a
negative
effect
on
their
happiness
and
overall
quality
of
life.
Stars
such
as
Taylor
Swift
and
Ed
Sheeren
have
taken
a
break
from
social
media
because
they
were
tired
of
many
Internet
trolls(网络喷子)
leaving
negative
comments.
Ordinary
people
(like
me)
are
turning
away
from
it
because
of
the
feeling
that
they
were
spending
more
time
online
and
enjoying
it
less.
It
is
not
unusual
for
people
to
spend
two
or
three
hours
a
day
posing
or
reading
posts,
to
the
point
where
it
becomes
an
addiction.
And
it
is
an
addiction.
There
is
a
chemical
in
your
brain
known
as
dopamine(多巴胺)
which
is
sometimes
called
the
“reward
molecule”
and
its
release
gives
you
a
feeling
of
pleasure.
For
instance,
when
you
post
a
photo
on
WeChat
and
get
a
hundred
likes,
you
feel
happy.
That’s
dopamine
at
work.
In
my
case,
being
off
WeChat
left
me
with
a
feeling
of
anxiety
for
a
few
days.
No
doubt
I
missed
my
dopamine.
And
I
got
e-mails
from
friends
wondering
if
I
was
fine
or
if
I
was
just
being
anti-social.
But
I
soon
began
to
feel
quite
peaceful
and
started
to
worry
less
about
what
other
people
were
doing
and
concentrate
more
on
my
personal
life.
And
it
is
an
added
bonus
that
I’m
getting
better
sleep
at
night.
I’m
not
advocating
that
all
of
you
quit
social
media,
but
spending
less
time
on
these
platforms
does
bring
you
advantages.
You
could
start
by
leaving
your
phone
at
home
when
you
go
to
school
(For
some,
that’s
already
a
school
rule).
And
it
is
also
a
good
idea
to
charge
your
phone
outside
of
your
bedroom
at
night,
as
you
are
unlikely
to
get
a
good
night’s
sleep
when
the
notification(通知)
bell
keeps
ringing.
Someday
I
may
reconnect
with
my
WeChat
account,
but
I'
m
not
in
a
hurry.
Life
can
be
more
relaxing
and
just
as
interesting
without
it.

22.
What
is
the
current
situation
of
social

in
the
United
States
according
to
the
passage?
A.
All
Americans
have
their
Twitter

Facebook.
B.
Famous
people
have
deserted
Twitter
and
Facebook
for
other
social
media.
C.
An
increasing
number
of
people
are
losing
interest
in
social

D.
Social
media

to
people’s
happiness
and
life
convenience.
23.
The
fourth
paragraph
mainly
talks
about
_________.
A.
how
dopamine
works
when
you
are
posting
or
reading
posts.
B.
the
reason
behind
people’s
addiction
to
social
media.
C.
why
WeChat
is
so
popular
among
ordinary
people.
D.
what
you
can
do
if
you
want
to
get
many
likes
on
WeChat.
24.
What
is
the
author’s
attitude
towards
social
media?
A.
To
turn
away
from
them
as
soon
as
possible.
B.
To
choose
a
social
media
platform
that
suits
you.
C.
To
keep
away
from
them
temporarily
is
a
wise
choice.
D.
To
quit
them
will
make
your
life
more
relaxing
and
interesting.
B
No
one
has
a
temper
naturally
so
good,
that
it
does
not
need
attention
and
cultivation,
and
no
one
has
a
temper
so
bad,
but
that,
by
proper
culture,
it
may
become
pleasant.
One
of
the
best
disciplined
tempers
ever
seen,
was
that
of
a
gentleman
who
was
naturally
quick,
irritable,
rash,
and
violent;
but,
by
taking
care
of
the
sick,
and
especially
of
mentally
deranged(疯狂的)
people,
he
so
completely
mastered
himself
that
he
was
never
known
to
be
thrown
off
his
guard.
There
is
no
misery
so
constant,
so
upsetting,
and
so
intolerable
to
others,
as
that
of
having
a
character
which
is
your
master.
There
are
corners
at
every
turn
in
life,
against
which
we
may
run,
and
at
which
we
may
break
out
in
impatience,
if
we
choose.
Look
at
Roger
Sherman,
who
rose
from
a
humble
occupation
to
a
seat
in
the
first
Congress
of
the
United
States,
and
whose
judgment
was
received
with
great
respect
by
that
body
of
distinguished
men.
He
made
himself
master
of
his
temper
and
cultivated
it
as
a
great
business
in
life.
There
are
one
or
two
instances
which
show
this
part
of
his
character
in
a
light
that
is
beautiful.
One
day,
after
having
received
his
highest
honors,
he
was
sitting
and
reading
in
his
sitting
room.
A
student,
in
a
room
close
by,
held
a
looking?glass
in
such
a
position
as
to
pour
the
reflected
rays
of
the
sun
directly
in
Mr
Sherman's
face.
He
moved
his
chair,
and
the
thing
was
repeated.
A
third
time
the
chair
was
moved,
but
the
looking?glass
still
reflected
the
sun
in
his
eyes.
He
laid
aside
his
book,
went
to
the
window,
and
many
witnesses
of
the
rude
behavior
expected
to
see
the
ungentlemanly
student
severely
punished.
He
raised
the
window
gently,
and
then—shut
the
window
blind!
I
can
not
help
providing
another
instance
of
the
power
he
had
acquired
over
himself.
He
was
naturally
possessed
of
strong
passions,
but
over
these
he
at
length
obtained
an
extraordinary
control.
He
became
habitually
calm
and
self?possessed.
Mr
Sherman
was
one
of
those
men
who
are
not
ashamed
to
maintain
the
forms
of
religion
in
their
families.
One
morning
he
called
them
all
together
as
usual
to
lead
them
in
prayer
to
God.
The
“old
family
Bible”
was
brought
out
and
laid
on
the
table.
Mr
Sherman
took
his
seat
and
placed
beside
him
one
of
his
children,
a
child
of
his
old
age.
The
rest
of
the
family
were
seated
around
the
room,
several
of
whom
were
now
grown?ups.
Besides
these,
some
of
the
tutors
of
the
college
were
boarders
in
the
family
and
were
present
at
the
time.
His
aged
mother
occupied
a
corner
of
the
room,
opposite
the
place
where
the
distinguished
Judge
sat.
At
length
he
opened
the
Bible
and
began
to
read.
The
child
who
was
seated
beside
him
made
some
little
disturbance,
upon
which
Mr
Sherman
paused
and
told
it
to
be
still.
Again
he
continued
but
again
he
had
to
pause
to
scold
the
little
offender,
whose
playful
character
would
scarcely
permit
it
to
be
still.
At
this
time
he
gently
tapped
its
ear.
The
blow,
if
blow
it
might
be
called,
caught
the
attention
of
his
aged
mother,
who
now
with
some
effort
rose
from
the
seat
and
tottered
across
the
room.
At
length,
she
reached
the
chair
of
Mr
Sherman,
and
in
a
moment,
most
unexpectedly
to
him,
she
gave
him
a
blow
on
the
ear
with
all
the
force
she
could
gather.
“There,”
said
she,
“you
strike
your
child,
and
I
will
strike
mine.”
For_a_moment,_the_blood_was_seen_mounting_to_the_face_of_Mr_Sherman.
But
it
was
only
for
a
moment
and
all
was
calm
and
mild
as
usual.
He
paused;
he
raised
his
glasses;
he
cast
his
eye
upon
his
mother;
again
it
fell
upon
the
book
from
which
he
had
been
reading.
Not
a
word
escaped
him;
but
again
he
calmly
pursued
the
service,
and
soon
sought
in
prayer
an
ability
to
set
an
example
before
his
household
which
should
be
worthy
of
their
imitation.
Such
a
victory
was
worth
more
than
the
proudest
one
ever
achieved
on
the
field
of
battle.

in
the
last
paragraph
mean?
A.
Mr
Sherman's
face
was
covered
with
blood.
B.
Mr

C
Old
problem,new
approaches
While
clean
energy
is
increasingly
used
in
our
daily
life,global
warming
will
continue
for
some
decades
after
CO2
emissions
(排放)
peak.
So
even
if
emissions
were
to
begin
to
decrease
today,we
would
still
face
the
challenge
of
adapting
to
climate
change.
Here
I
will
stress
some
smarter
and
more
creative
examples
of
climate
adaptation.
When
it
comes
to
adaptation,it
is
important
to
understand
that
climate
change
is
a
process.
We
are
therefore
not
talking
about
adapting
to
a
new
standard,but
to
a
constantly
shifting
set
of
conditions.
This
is
why,
in
part
at
least,the
US
National
Climate
Assessment
says
that:“There
is
no
‘one?size
fits
all’
adaptation.”
Nevertheless,there
are
some
actions
that
offer
much
and
carry
little
risk
or
cost.
Around
the
world,
people
are
adapting
in
surprising
ways,especially
in
some
poor
countries.
Floods
have
become
more
damaging
in
Bangladesh
in
recent
decades.
Mohammed
Rezwan
saw
opportunity
where
others
saw
only
disaster.
His
not?for?profit
organization
runs
100
river
boats
that
serve
as
floating
libraries,schools,and
health
clinics,and
are
equipped
with
solar
panels
and
other
communicating
facilities.
Rezwan
is
creating
floating
connectivity(连接)
to
replace
flooded
roads
and
highways.
But
he
is
also
working
at
a
far
more
fundamental
level:his
staff
show
people
how
to
make
floating
gardens
and
fish
ponds
to
prevent
starvation
during
the
wet
season.
Elsewhere
in
Asia
even
more
astonishing
actions
are
being
taken.
Chewang
Norphel
lives
in
a
mountainous
region
in
India,
where
he
is
known
as
the
Ice
Man.
The
loss
of
glaciers
(冰川)
there
due
to
global
warming
represents
an
enormous
threat
to
agriculture.
Without
the
glaciers,
water
will
arrive
in
the
rivers
at
times
when
it
can
damage
crops.
Norphel's
inspiration
came
from
seeing
the
waste
of
water
over
winter,
when
it
was
not
needed.
He
directed
the
wasted
water
into
shallow
basins
where
it
froze,
and
was
stored
until
the
spring.
His
fields
of
ice
supply
perfectly
timed
irrigation(灌溉)
water.
Having
created
nine
such
ice
reserves,
Norphel
calculates
that
he
has
stored
about
200,000m3
of
water.
Climate
change
is
a
continuing
process,
so
Norphel's
ice
reserves
will
not
last
forever.
Warming
will
overtake
them.
But
he
is
providing
a
few
years
during
which
the
farmers
will,
perhaps,
be
able
to
find
other
means
of
adapting.
Increasing
Earth's
reflectiveness
can
cool
the
planet.
In
southern
Spain
the
sudden
increase
of
greenhouses
(which
reflect
light
back
to
space)
has
changed
the
warming
trend
locally,
and
actually
cooled
the
region.
While
Spain
as
a
whole
is
heating
up
quickly,
temperatures
near
the
greenhouses
have
decreased.
This
example
should
act
as
an
inspiration
for
all
cities.
By
painting
buildings
white,
cities
may
slow
down
the
warming
process.
In
Peru,
local
farmers
around
a
mountain
with
a
glacier
that
has
already
fallen
victim
to
climate
change
have
begun
painting
the
entire
mountain
peak
white
in
the
hope
that
the
added
reflectiveness
will
restore
the
life?giving
ice.
The
outcome
is
still
far
from
clear.
But
the
World
Bank
has
included
the
project
on
its
list
of
“100
ideas
to
save
the
planet”.
More
ordinary
forms
of
adaptation
are
happening
everywhere.
A
friend
of
mine
owns
an
area
of
land
in
western
Victoria.
Over
five
generations
the
land
has
been
too
wet
for
cropping.
But
during
the
past
decade
declining
rainfall
has
allowed
him
to
plant
highly
profitable
crops.
Farmers
in
many
countries
are
also
adapting
like
this—either
by
growing
new
produce,
or
by
growing
the
same
things
differently.
This
is
common
sense.
But
some
suggestions
for
adapting
are
not.
When
the
polluting
industries
argue
that
we've
lost
the
battle
to
control
carbon
pollution
and
have
no
choice
but
to
adapt,
it's
a
nonsense
designed
to
make
the
case
for
business
as
usual.
Human
beings
will
continue
to
adapt
to
the
changing
climate
in
both
ordinary
and
astonishing
ways.
But
the
most
sensible
form
of
adaptation
is
surely
to
adapt
our
energy
systems
to
emit
less
carbon
pollution.
After
all,
if
we
adapt
in
that
way,
we
may
avoid
the
need
to
change
in
so
many
others.
