英式英语与美式英语的区别主要体现在四个方面:
一、发音和语调方面
美式发音区别于英式发音的最大特色就在于美式发音中除了Mrs外,会把单词里每个r音都体现出来(不论在哪个位置),尤其强调单词末尾r的卷舌音,比如teacher,car,neighbor。而英式发音一般不会将每个r都读出来。
二、词汇方面
美式英语和英式英语在词汇方面有许多不同,比如:汽油,美国叫gasoline,英国叫petrol(汽油曾经是二战的时候美军用于识别混入的德国士兵的口令,喊汽油叫petrol的人统统抓起来)。
三、拼写方面
一般来说美式英语拼写比英式英语简单一些。如:美式英语里通常将英式英语里的字母组合our中的u省去,favourite(英式),favorite(美式);neighbour(英式),neighbor(美式);colour(英式),color(美式)。
四、时态区别
美国人倾向于使用一般过去时去描述刚刚发生的事情,而英国人则更可能使用现在完成时来描述过去刚刚发生的事情。

Colour还是color?
两种英语的另外两个方面的区别是拼写和发音。美式英语的拼写看上去更简单一些:center,
color和program是美式拼法,而centre,
