A
tsunami
is
a
series
of
ocean
waves
that
send
surges
(汹涌)of
water,
sometimes
reaching
heights
of
over
100
feet,
onto
land.
These
walls
of
water
can
cause
widespread
destruction
when
they
crash
ashore.
These
fear
inspiring
waves
are
typically
caused
by
large,
undersea
earthquakes
at
plate
boundaries.
When
the
ocean
floor
at
a
plate
boundary
rises
or
falls
suddenly,
it
displaces
the
water
above
it
and
launches
the
rolling
waves
that
will
become
a
tsunami.
Tsunamis
may
also
be
caused
by
underwater
landslides
(山崩)or
volcanic
eruptions.
I
hey
may
even
be
launched,as
they
frequently
were
in
Earth
s
ancient
past,
by
the
impact
of
a
large
meteorite(陨石)
falling
into
an
ocean.
Tsunamis
race
across
the
sea
at
up
to
500
miles
an
hour—about
as
fast
as
a
jet
airplane.
At
that
pace
they
can
cross
the
entire
area
of
the
Pacific
Ocean
in
less
than
a
day.
And
their
long
wavelengths
mean
they
lose
very
little
energy
along
the
way.
In
deep
oceans,
tsunami
waves
may
appear
only
a
foot
or
so
high.
But
as
they
approach
the
shoreline
and
enter
shallower
water
they
slow
down
and
begin
to
grow
in
energy
and
height.
The
tops
of
the
waves
move
faster
than
their
bottoms
do,
which
causes
them
to
rise
steeply.
A
tsunami
is
usually
composed
of
a
series
of
waves,
called
a
wave
train,
so
its
destructive
force
may
be
increased
as
successive
waves
reach
the
shore.
People
experiencing
a
tsunami
should
remember
that
the
danger
may
not
have
passed
with
the
first
wave
and
should
await
official
word
that
it
is
safe
to
return
to
their
locations.
Some
tsunamis
do
not
appear
on
the
shore
as
massive
breaking
waves
but
instead
as
a
quickly
surging
tide
that
floods
coastal
areas.
The
best
defense
against
any
tsunami
is
early
warning
that
allows
people
to
look
for
higher
ground.
1.Which
of
the
following
may
not
cause
a
tsunami?
A.A
sudden
big
landslide
underwater.
B.An
underwater
earthquake.
C.
The
eruption
of
an
underwater
volcano.
D.
The
falling
of
a
jet
plane
into
the
ocean.
2.From
the
text,
we
can
know
that
.

caused
a
tsunami

a
tsunami
breaks
out,
it
usually
comes
one
after
another
D.a
tsunami
can
always
be
predicted
ahead
of
time
3.Sometimes
a
tsunami
is
called
a
wave
train
because
.
A.it
is
as
long
as
a
train
when
it
comes
to
the
shore
B.it
moves
faster
and
faster
like
a
train
C.it
has
more
than
one
wave
when
it
breaks
out
D.it
slows
down
when
it
comes
near
the
shoreline
4.According
to
the
text,
how
can
we
avoid
a
tsunami?
A.To
build
a
system
predicting
it
in
advance.
B.To
wait
for
the
end
of
the
first
wave.
C.To
escape
by
plane
or

答案以及解析
一、
1.答案:enjoying
2.答案:Having
been
flooded
3.答案:having
caught
4.答案:Having
spent
5.答案:having
been
given
6.答案:客观填空
concerned
7.答案:客观填空
trembling
8.答案:客观填空
lasting
9.答案:客观填空
fearfully
解析:考查词形转换。句意:这个相机和我上次买的相比贵得吓人。修饰形容词应用副词。
10.答案:Judging
解析:句意为:从媒体报道判断,结果还不明确。judging
from/
by...为固定短语,意为“根据……来判断”,常放在句首作状语。
二、答案:1.D;
2.A;
3.C;
4.A
解析:1.考查细节理解。结合第二段的第一句话和第三段的第一句话可知,A、B、C三项都能引起海啸,而D项文中没有提及。
2.考查细节理解。根据第三段中的"as
they
frequently
were
in
Earth’s
ancient
past"可知,在远古时期,由陨石的降落而造成的海啸是经常性的,所以A项正确。
3.考查细节理解。根据第六段中的"A
tsunami
is
usually
composed
of
a
series
of
waves,
called
a
wave
train"可知,海啸之所以被称为"波列"是因为海啸由一系列的波浪组成,所以选C。
4.考查推理判断。根据最后一段中的"The
best
defense
against
any
tsunami
is
early
warning"可知,防止海啸的最好的方法是建立预警机制,所以选A。
三、答案:trees;
where;
To
get;
as;
completely;
using;
left;
are
encouraged;
a;
what
解析:
1.?trees考查名词。这里指的是森林里众多的树,故填tree的复数形式。
2.?where考查定语从句
“where
animals
live
wild
and
can
be
hunted”是定语从句,修饰先行词area,关系副词where在从句中作地点状语。
3.?To
get考查非谓语动词。to
get
to
class是不定式短语作目的状语。
4.?as考查固定搭配。the
same...as...是固定搭配,意思是
“和……一样"。
5.?completely考查词形变化。空格中所填单词在句中修饰形容词different,需用complete的副词形式。
6.?using
考查非谓语动词。
using
nature
as
a
teaching
tool是现在分词短语作状语,表示伴随情况或方式,分词动作use与逻辑主语之间是主动关系。
7.?left考查非谓语动词。left
by
animals是过去分词短语作后置定语,修饰marks,分词动作leave与逻辑主语之间是被动关系。
8.?are
encouraged考查时态语态。主语students是谓语动词动作encourage的承受者,需用被动语态;这里用一般现在时表示经常性情况。
9.?a考查冠词。a
dead
animal此处意思是“一个死去的动物"。
10.?what考查名词性从句。“what
we
are
doing
to
the
environment”是宾语从句,what在从句中作do的宾语。Unit

Seeing
a

(喷发)is
a
wonderful
experience,and
you
can
really
feel
the
beat
by
climbing
to
the
summit(山顶)of
Pacaya
for
a
close-up
view.
There
are
guided
tours
every
day
up
this
highly
active
volcano
from
Antigua.
Giving
travellers
a
chance
to
see
Mother
Nature
at
her
most
powerful.
Pacaya
is
an
easy
drive
from
Antigua,a
beautiful
city
with
many
colourful
houses
along
its
old
streets
that
are
turned
into
art-works
during
its
Holy
Week
festival.
No
matter
when
you
come
to
Antigua,
you
won't
miss
the
Pacaya-tour
companies.
But
climbing
Pacaya
is
no
easy
job:
it
is
2,560
metres
high
and
reaching
the
summit
takes
two
to
three
hours
of
seemingly
one-step-forward
and
two-step-back
movements.
As
you
climb,
you
hear
the
dull
sounds
of
eruptions
high
above.
Steaming,
hot
remains
from
recent
eruptions
begin
to
line
the
path
as
you
near
the
active
summit:
the
McKenney
Cone(火山锥).
Just
as
though
you
were
going
to
walk
over
to
the
edge
of
the
cone,
the
road
turns
to
the
left
and
up
to
the
relative
safety
of
the
old,
inactive
summit.
Many
tours
are
timed
so
that
you
arrive
at
the
cone
of
the
volcano
in
plenty
of
time
for
I
sunset
and
the
full
contrast
between
the
erupting
red
lava(溶$)
and
the
darkening
sky.
On
a
good
day
the
view
from
the
summit
is
extremely
exciting.
The
active
mouth
boils,
sending
red
lava
over
its
sides,
and
once
in
a
while
shoots
hot
streams
up
to
100
metres
into
the
air.
There
is
a
strong
bad
smell
in
the
air
even
if
you
take
care
to
be
upwind
of
the
cone.
As
evening
turns
deeper
into
the
night,
the
burning
lava
quietly
falls
down
the
side
of
the
volcano.
For
you,
too,
it
is
time
to
get
down.

of
Pacaya.
C.To
introduce
guided
tours
to
Pacaya.
D.To

2.Climbing
to
the
McKenney

will
_____.
A.walk
directly
to
the
active

B.hear
the
continuous
loud
noise
from

???
Can
you
survive
an
unannounced
storm?
Although
there
is
expert
broadcasting
and
we
are
equipped
with
cellphones,
there're
still
some
examples
when
the
violent
weather
takes
us
by
surprise.
???
While
most
Atlantic
hurricanes
form
off
the
coast
of
Africa
giving
plenty
of
early
warning,
sudden
Caribbean
and
Gulf
of
Mexico
hurricanes
form
and
move
rapidly
in
less
than
a
day's
time,
endangering
everyone
and
everything
in
their
path.
???
There've
been
oil
workers
trapped
off
the
shore
when
sudden
storms
appeared.
Field
archeologists
have
been
stuck
in
coastal
areas
without
storm
warning.
It
wasn't
but
a
few
decades
ago
that
a
Texas
National
Guard
group
was
trapped
on
the
beach
by
rain-forced
flooding
and
had
to
ride
out
a
major
hurricane
during
a
training
exercise.
There've
been
a
few
cases
when
travelers
were
trapped
on
an
island
or
in
a
coastal
area
and
unable
to
escape
in
time.
???
Escaping
from
the
storm-threatened
areas
is
generally
a
choice
for
most
of
us—but
not
for
all.
Each
year
thousands
of
islanders
across
the
Caribbean
face
the
danger
of
hurricanes
without
so
much
as
a
public
shelter
to
hide
in.
Most
ride
out
the
storm
in
their
homes.
???
But
there're
a
few
things
you
can
do
to
prepare
yourself
for
some
unexpected
emergencies.
Being
prepared
for
the
unexpected
may
be
your
best
and
only
defense.
If
you're
headed
outdoors
for
a
few
days
or
weeks,
you
should
always
carry
a
flashlight
with
extra
batteries,
a
GPS
device,
and
a
basic
medical
box.
???
If
you're
traveling
in
your
car,
remember
you
may
suffer
from
high
winds.
You'd
better
not
stay
inside
to
avoid
being
blown
away
along
with
your
car.
Keeping
your
head
and
your
courage
up
is
essential
to
survival
in
any
type
of
danger.
Let
common
sense
guide
you
and
always
be
prepared
for
the
worst.

Zebra
crossings
—the
alternating
dark
and
light
stripes
on
the
road
surface
—are
meant
to
remind
drivers
that
pedestrians
may
be
trying
to
get
across.
Unfortunately,
they
are
not
very
effective.
A
1998
study
done
by
the
Department
of
Traffic
Planning
and
Engineering
at
Sweden's?Lund
University
revealed
that
three
out
of
four
drivers
maintained
the
same
speed
or
even
sped
up
as
they
were
approaching
a
crossing.
Even
worse,
only
5%
stopped
even
when
they
saw
someone
trying
to
get
across.
???
Now
a
mother-daughter
team
in
Ahmedabad,
India
has
come
up
with
a
clever
way
to
get
drivers
to
pay
more
attention
—a
3-D
zebra
crossing
with
a
visual
illusion
(错觉).
???
Artists
Saumya
Pandya
Thakkar
and
Shakuntala
Pandya
were
asked
to
paint
the
crosswalks
by
IL&FS,
an
Indian
company
that
manages
the
highways
in
Ahmedabad.
The
corporation
was
looking
for
a
creative
solution
to
help
the
city’s
residents
to
cross
the
busy
accident-prone
(易出事故的)
roads
safely.
Thakkar
and
Pandya,
who
had
previously
seen
images
of
3-D
zebra
crossings
that
gave
drivers
the
illusion
of
logs
of
wood
on
the
streets
in
Taizhou,
China,
decided
to
test
if
a
similar
way
would
work
in
India.
???
Sure
enough,
in
the
six
months
that
the
3-D
crosswalks
have
been
painted
across
four
of
the
city's
most
dangerous
highways,
there
have
been
no
accidents
reported!
The
artists
say
that
while
it
may
appear
that
the
zebra
crossing
could
cause
the
drivers
to
brake
suddenly
and
endanger
the
vehicles
behind,
such
is
not
the
case.
Because
of
the
way
the
human
eye
works,
the
illusion
is
only
visible
from
a
distance.
As
they
get
closer,
the
painting
looks
just
like
any
other
ordinary
zebra
crossing.
The
creators
hope
that
their
smart
design
will
become
increasingly
common
throughout
India
and
perhaps
even
the
world.
So
let's
look
forward
to
it.
1.What
can
we
learn
from
the
first
paragraph?
A.Most
drivers
will
slow
down
at
zebra
crossings.
B.Common
zebra
crossings
don't
function
well.
C.Drivers
have
to
stop
when
approaching
zebra
crossings.
D.About
95
%
of
the
drivers
choose
to
speed
up
when
approaching
zebra
crossings.
2.Why
do
drivers
seeing
the
3-D
zebra
crossings
slow
down?
A.Because
the
drivers
consider
the
safety
of
pedestrians.
B.Because
the
drivers
don't
want
to
brake
suddenly
and
endanger
the
vehicles
behind.
C.Because
the
drivers
are
afraid
of
being
fined
for
breaking
the
traffic
rules.
D.Because
the
drivers
mistake
them
for
logs
of
wood
on
the
streets.
3.What
is
the
last
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.The
theory
of
the
3-D
zebra
crossings.
B.The
popularity
of
the
3-D
zebra
crossings.
C.The
shortcoming
of
the
3-D
zebra
crossings.
D.The
positive
effect
of
the
3-D
zebra
crossings.
4.What
is
the
author's
attitude
towards
the
3-D
zebra
crossings?
A.Approving.
B.Doubtful.
C.Cautious.
D.Objective.

at
a
gathering
on
July
14th.
The
scientists
discussed
the
space
agency’s
plan
to
find
life
in
outer
space.
???
NASA
continues
to
look
for
life
in
the
solar
system.
That
search
is
centered
mostly
on
Mars
and
the
icy
moons
of
Jupiter
and
Saturn.
But
the
scientists
mainly
discussed
the
search
for
life
outside
the
solar
system.
???
NASA
Administrator
Charles
Bolden
opened
the
talk.
He
said
it
is
not
probable
that
humans
are
alone
in
what
he
calls
"the
limitless
vastness
of
the
universe".
???
The
scientists
spoke
about
improvements
in
search
equipment.
They
noted
the
Kepler
Space
Telescope.
They
said
the
tool
had
been
critical
in
expanding
knowledge
about
exoplanets
(外部行星).
???
An
exoplanet
is
a
planet
that
orbits
a
star
outside
the
solar
system.
Kepler
has
discovered
most
of
the
5,000
possible
exoplanets,
of
which
almost
two
thousand
have
been
confirmed.
???
An
Earth-size
exoplanet
orbits
what
is
called
the
"habitable
zone"
of
a
star.
The
habitable
zone
is
an
area
which
could
support
liquid
water
on
the
exoplanet.
Liquid
water
is
considered
essential
for
life
as
we
know.
???
Kepler
research
has
led
scientists
to
believe
that
there
may
be
billions
of
planets
in
the
galaxy.
???
Sara
Seager,
a
professor
of
planetary
science
and
physics,
says
space
scientists
think
it
is
"very
likely
that
every
single
star
in
the
Milky
Way
galaxy
has
at
least
one
planet".
???
Another
major
step
toward
discovery
is
the
planned
launch
of
three
new
telescopes.
Officials
expect
to
deploy
(调度)
the
equipment
starting
in
2017.
???
These
telescopes
will
help
scientists
to
learn
if
an
exoplanet
has
atmospheric
water
vapor
or
carbon
dioxide.
???
Ms.
Seager
says
these
three
telescopes
will
give
scientists
the
ability
to
find
life
on
other
planets.
But
she
adds
they
will
also
need
luck.
It
is
a
very
big
universe.
1.When
NASA
scientists
say
they
are
closer
than
ever
to
finding
life

How
to
cope
with
(应付)
yes
men
???
Have
you
ever
had
someone
in
your
organization
who
was
always
agreeable?
It
is
a
type
of
person
who
always
agrees
with
everyone
else.

???
We
have
most
likely
all
met
a
yes-man
at
one
time
or
another.
Yes-men
are
eager
to
please,
but
find
it
very
difficult
to
voice
their
opinions.
So
what
can
you
do
as
a
leader
to
cope
with
them?
???
Talk
to
them.
The
first
step
is
[n
honest
and
objective
(客观的)
conversation
about
their
behavior.
②?Try
to
get
them
to
see
how
they
respond
in
these
situations
so
they
can
start
to
see
themselves
objectively
as
well.
????③?Start
with
a
recent
time
when
they
agreed
with
a
decision,
and
ask
their
opinions.
Keep
asking
"Why?"
or
"How
come?"
Admit
their
views
and
let
them
know
that
the
rest
of
the
team
is
waiting
to
hear
what
they
will
say.
???
Find
out
why
they
always
agree.
Maybe
they
are
just
very
agreeable
people.?④?Find
out
the
causes
and
work
with
them
to
reduce
the
external
(外部的)
factors
to
have
their
voice
heard.
???
Tell
them
they
need
to
disagree,
constructively,
when
they
have
the
next
chance.
When
that
time
comes
about,
don't
embarrass
them
by
putting
them
on
the
spot.
Instead,
ask
them
what
they
think,
avoid
yes-no
questions,
and
use
"why"
and
"how
come"
questions
to
get
their
thoughts
out
there
for
the
benefit
of
the
team.
Thank
them
for
their
ideas.

A.?Ask
what
their
opinions
are.
B.?They
should
provide
value
for
the
organization.
C.?Or
they
feel
like
they
will
say
something
stupid.
D.?Even
if
all
the
ideas
presented
conflict
with
each
other!
E.?Sometimes
the
men
do
not
realize
hat
they
agree
with
everything.
F.?Yes-men
are
a
challenge
in
any
organization
that
values
individual
contributions.
G.?This
will
build
their
confidence
and
allow
them
to
continue
doing
what
you
have
started
in
the
future.

答案以及解析
A
答案:ADC
解析:1.A
提示:通读全文,发现这是一篇关于
Pacaya
的旅游情况的介绍,是为了吸引游客到此观光。
2.D
提示:从第二段中“含teaming,hot
remains
from
recent
eruptions
begin
to
line
the
path
as
you
near
the
active
summit:
the
McKenney
Cone,"
中可以判断出答案为D。
3.
C
提示:从最后一段中“Many
tours
are
timed
so
that
you
arrive
at
the
cone
of
the
volcano
in
plenty
of
time
for
sunset
and
the
full
contrast
between
the
erupting
red
lava
and
the
darkening
sky.
”可以判断出,答案为C。
B
答案:1.C;
2.B;
3.A;
4.C
解析:1.细节理解题。根据第二段的“While
most
Atlantic
hurricanes
form
off
the
coast
of
Africa
giving
plenty
of
early
warning”可知,
大部分的大西洋飓风是在非洲沿岸形成的,所以选C。
2.段落大意题。根据第三段的关键词“oil
workers”“Field
archeologists”“a
Texas
National
Guard
group”和“travelers”可知这段主要讲的是被飓风困住的人,所以选B。
3.段落大意题。根据最后一段的“But
there’re
a
few
things
you
can
do
to
prepare
yourself
for
some
unexpected
emergencies."
可知这段主要给出了一些应对预料之外的紧急情况的建议,所以选A。
4.文章出处题。文章介绍了飓风给人们带来的危害,同时给读者提供了一些应对突如其来的飓风的建议,这些和人们的生活密切相关,所以选C。
C
答案:1.B;
2.D;
3.D;
4.A
解析:1.推理判断题。第一段第二句说“不幸的是,它们不是很有效”。
也就是说,普通的斑马线并不起作用,绝大多数司机根本就不减速。故选B。
2.细节理解题。第三段最后一句说,先前见过3D斑马线的Thakkar和Pandya决定在印度用相同的方法进行测试看看它们是否有用,这种斑马线让司机以为街上放着大木头。由此可知,司机看到3D斑马线减速是因为他们误认为街上有大木头,故选D。
3.段落大意题。最后一段第一句是该段主题句,意思是“可以肯定的是,在这个城市最危险的四条公路上使用3D斑马线之后的六个月里,再没有被报道发生过事故!”由此可知,木段讲述了3D斑马线的作用,即到目前为止效果不错,没有事故发生。因此推断本段主要讨论了3D斑马线的积极效果,故选D。
4.推理判断题。最后一段最后一句说,“所以让我们一起期待吧。”作者期待更多的3D斑马线出现在街上,因此推断作者对于3D斑马线持支持的态度,故选A。
D
答案:1.D;
2.C;
3.C;
4.B;
5.A
解析:1.考查句意理解。通读全文可知,美国国家航空航天局的科学家们的这句话表达了科学家们的信心,并不是说他们已经掌握了确切证据,所以选D项。
2.考查细节理解。由第一段最后一句话可知,C正确。
3.考查细节理解。从第七段内容可以得出,这些行星之所以重要,是因为它们处于恒星外的"宜居带"上。
4.考查推理判断。从第九段的内容可以推断出B项正确。科学家认为在银河系可能有比恒星更多的行星。
5.考查主旨大意。新闻的主题一般在第一段,而文章正是围绕第一段展开的,所以选A。美国国家航空航天局的科学家有信心在地球外找到生命。
答案:
1.客观填空
D
2.客观填空
E
3.客观填空
A
4.客观填空
C
5.客观填空
G
解析:
1.
本段是讲应声虫的特点。D选项"即使提出的所有的点子都互相矛盾",与空前句相承接,符合语境,故选D。
2.
本段是建议与应声虫讨论他们的行为,E选项"有时候他们没意识到他们对每件事都同意"符合语境,故选E。
3.?A选项"询问他们的观点是什么"与空后句中的"and
ask
their
opinions"相照应,符合语境,故选A。
4.
空前句是推测应声虫总是同意的原因,C选项提供了另一种可能,符合语境。
5.?空前句"Thank
them
for
their
ideas",而G选项说明这样做的好处,且G项中的This指代上文的做法,前后衔接紧密。故选G。

13.A;
14.C;
15.B;
16.D;
17.A;
18.C;
19.B;
20.D
解析:1.根据文中的"When
I
asked
Dad
why
his
hat
was
put
on
backwards"知,作者看到父亲反戴着(wearing)帽子。
2.联系下文可知,父亲对他的行为做解释。
3.根据常识,牲畜每天都要喝水,所以水箱每日(daily)都要装水。
4.根据"it
took
a
long
time
to
fill"可以推知,父亲这期间开始做其他的事情。go
ahead
doing
sth."开始做某事"。
5.联系overflow可知,此处指水不断地流会出现溢出的危险(danger)。
6.水箱满了,然后水溢出来,这样水就会被浪费(wasted)。
7.根据下文中的"When
he
finished
his
8
and
began.
..
where
it
was
supposed
to
be"可知,父亲说明他反戴帽子的原因(reason)。
8.根据语境,此处是说当他做完杂务,脱掉工作服。同时第一段中的"where
my
father
was
doing
chores"也是提示。
9.当他做完杂务,脱掉工作服的时候,他会注意到(notice)帽舌不在它应该在的地方。
10.根据上文中的"he
would
turn
the
water
on"可知,
此处指水(water)仍然在流。
11.根据下文中的"Some
may
have
even
been
lifesaving"
等信息可以推知,这么多年来,父亲研发(develop)了好多其他的方法。
12.根据句中的helpful以及全文的意思可知,这些方法都很有价值(valuable)。
13.根据make
mistake可知,人们经常犯错误,忘记(forget)事情。
14.根据父亲的例子可知,发明这些方法能够使我们更有效地(effectively)工作。
15.当我们面对问题(problem)的时候,我们当然可以发明一些方法来防止这种事情再次发生。
16.不要因为错误而责备(blaming)别人或自己。blame
sb.
for
sth."因为某事责备某人"。
17.根据句子的结构来判断,空处引导宾语从句,并在从句中作宾语,故选what。
18.根据下文的三个并列句并结合父亲的做法可知,这些方法能像一张检查单那么简单(simple)。
19.根据语境可知,作者在工作中经常使用(employ)它们。
20.既然是经常使用的方法,再结合放置钥匙这样的常识,可知每次放钥匙的地方应该是同一个(same)地方,这样才方便寻找。
答案:
1.客观填空
kindness
2.客观填空
would
be
3.客观填空
joyful
4.客观填空
of
5.客观填空
shocked
6.客观填空
to
do
7.客观填空
hardest
8.客观填空
what
9.客观填空
deciding
10.客观填空
hopefully
解析:
1.
考查词形转换。根据空前的of可知,空处应用名词。
2.?考查时态。这里是从过去看将来发生的事情,因此用过去将来时。
3.?考查词形转换。空前的how修饰形容词,故空处填joyful,在这里作表语。
4.?考查介词。inform
sb.
of
sth."通知某人某事",为固定搭配。
5.?考查词形转换。分析句子结构可知,空处修饰人,故填shocked,意为"震惊的"。
6.?考查非谓语动词。根据句子结构来判断,此处应用不定式作定语。
7.?考查形容词的最高级。从空前的the可以看出,这里应用hard的最高级形式,意为"最难的"。
8.?考查宾语从句。分析句子结构可知,空处引导宾语从句,作figure
out的宾语,并且在从句中作宾补,故填what。
9.?考查固定用法。end
up
doing
sth."以......结束",为固定用法。
10.?考查词形转换。这需要用副词修饰整个句子,故填hopefully。

A
tsunami
is
a
series
of
ocean
waves
that
sends
surges(汹涌)of
water,
sometimes
reaching
heights
of
over
100
feet,
onto
land.
These
walls
of
water
can
cause
widespread
destruction
when
they
crash
ashore.
???
These
fear-inspiring
waves
are
typically
caused
by
large,
undersea
earthquakes
at
plate
boundaries.
When
the
ocean
floor
at
a
plate
boundary
rises
or
falls
suddenly,
it
displaces
the
water
above
it
and
launches
the
rolling
waves
that
will
become
a
tsunami.
???
Tsunamis
may
also
be
caused
by
underwater
landslides(山崩)or
volcanic
eruptions.
They
may
even
be
launched,
as
they
frequently
were
in
Earth’s
ancient
past,
by
the
impact
of
a
large
meteorite(限石)throwing
into
an
ocean.
???
Tsunamis
race
across
the
sea
at
up
to
500
miles
an
hour
—about
as
fast
as
a
jet
airplane.
At
that
pace
they
can
cross
the
entire
expanse
of
the
Pacific
Ocean
in
less
than
a
day.
And
their
long
wavelengths
mean
they
lose
very
little
energy
along
the
way.
???
In
deep
oceans,
tsunami
waves
may
appear
only
a
foot
or
so
high.
But
as
they
approach
shoreline
and
enter
shallower
water,
they
slow
down
and
begin
to
grow
in
energy
and
height.
The
tops
of
the
waves
move
faster
than
their
bottoms
do,
which
causes
them
to
rise
steeply.
???
A
tsunami
is
usually
composed
of
a
series
of
waves,
called
a
wave
train,
so
its
destructive
force
may
be
increased
as
successive
waves
reach
shore.
People
experiencing
a
tsunami
should
remember
that
the
danger
may
not
have
passed
with
the
first
wave
and
should
await
official
word
that
it
is
safe
to
return
to
vulnerable
locations.
???
Some
tsunamis
do
not
appear
on
shore
as
massive
breaking
waves
but
instead
as
a
quickly
surging
tide
that
floods
coastal
areas.

二、
答案:1.D;
2.A;
3.D;
4.C
解析:1.细节理解题。结合第二段的第一句话和第三段的第一句话可知,A、B、C三项都能引起海啸,而D项文中没有提及。
2.推理判断题。从第三段可知,在远古时期,由于陨石的降落而造成的海啸是经常性的,所以推出结论A。
3.细节理解题。根据第一段的“sometimes
reaching
heights
of
over
100
feet”和第五段的“tsunami
waves
may
appear
only
a
