第一节(共

小题;每小题

A
moved
to
the
Spanish
capital,
Madrid,
nearly
two
months
ago.
I
am
here
for
a
year
teaching
English
in
a
secondary
school
as
a
language
assistant.
Before
I
arrived
I
thought
I
would
be
able
to
adapt
to
Spanish
culture
very
easily,
but
my
previous
expectations
have
been
very
different
from
the
reality
of
Spanish
life.
Firstly,
I
didn’t
realize
how
difficult
it
would
be
to
adapt
to
the
Spanish
day
and
the
timings
of
meals.
Spanish
“midday”
is
at
14:00,
meaning
lunch
is
never
before
then.
My
expectation
was
that
I
would
be
eating
lunch
at
12:00
to
13:00,
but
most
days
it’s
15:30
before
I
eat
lunch.
Can
I
really
still
call
this
lunch?!
The
same
applies
to
dinner
or
tea.
In
the
UK,
dinner
is
between
18:00
and
19:00,
but
now
the
dinner
time
is
21:30.
The
thing
I
didn’t
realize
is
that
this
affects
the
Spanish
sleeping
routine.
Eating
dinner
so
late
of
course
means
that
Spaniards
/?sp?n??d/
go
to
bed
so
much
later.
It
is
such
a
British
thing
to
go
to
bed
at
22:00!
Queuing
(排队等候)
/kjui?/
politely
is
also
something
that
is
very
British.
I
only
realized
it
when
I
arrived
in
Spain.
I
took
it
for
granted
that
queuing
patiently
is
as
the
normal
thing
as
in
Britain
or
countries
like
China,
Japan
and
America.
But
this
definitely
isn’t
the
case
in
Spain.
If
there’s
a
free
table
in
a
restaurant,
you
can
quickly
take
it,
even
if
there
are
other
people
who
have
been
waiting
longer
than
you.
Finally,
the
reality
of
the
Spanish
diet
is
very
different
from
my
expectations.
Food
products
that
are
so
normal
in
the
UK
aren’t
nearly
as
popular
here.
21.According
to
the
passage,
when
is
lunch
time
in
the
UK
probably?
A.At
14:00.
B.At
12:00
to
13:00.
C.After
15:30.
D.At
15:30.
22.What
does
the
underlined
word
“this”
in
Paragraph
2
refer
to?
A.Eating
dinner
so
late.
B.Going
to
bed
so
early.
C.Eating
dinner
so
early.
D.Going
to
bed
so
late.
23.How
many
aspects
of
cultural
differences
between
Spain
and
Britain
are
mentioned
in
the
passage?
A.2.
B.3.
C.4.
D.5.
B
I
decided
to
ski
to
the
North
Pole.
It
was
after
I
saw
an
advertisement
in
a
newspaper
looking
for
people
to
join
a
team
to
ski
350
miles
to
the
North
Pole.
Back
in
1996,
there
had
never
been
a
woman
from
the
UK
who
had
accomplished
this
challenge.
I
wondered
what
it
would
be
like
to
survive
in
temperatures
cold
enough
to
freeze
your
flesh
in
seconds,
so
I
sent
off
for
the
application
form.
The
application
form
full
of
pictures
of
male
explorers
arrived.
The
words
“Are
you
man
enough
for
the
ultimate(极限的)challenge?”
made
me
angry
and
even
more
determined
to
get
on
the
team.
Over
500
individuals
applied
for
a
place
in
the
team,
and
the
selection
process
included
physical
and
psychological
tests
designed
to
pick
the
best
group.
In
one
test,
there
was
a
huge
rope
ladder
we
had
to
climb,
and
I
froze
at
the
top
because
I
had
a
fear
of
heights.
I
thought
my
hopes
were
fading
as
most
other
applicants
sailed
past,
leaving
me
behind.
But
two
others
helped
me
over,
and
later
I
found
out
that
the
organizers
were
not
looking
for
amazing
individuals,
but
great
team
players,
and
this
moment
had
shown
them
who
would
take
care
of
others
in
the
team.
I
had
revealed(显示)my
weakness,
and
in
a
place
like
the
Arctic,
you
have
to
be
yourself,
as
there
is
nowhere
to
hide.
These
personalities
of
asking
for
help
and
showing
weakness
are
necessary
for
women
to
master.
I
realized
that
by
being
myself,
I
could
succeed.
I
was
selected
for
the
team.
I
realized
that
I
could
achieve
more
than
I
ever
imagined.
More
importantly,
by
sharing
my
story
with
others,
I
could
inspire
them
to
take
a
step
into
the
new
world
and
reveal
more
of
their
abilities.
24.How
did
the
author
react
on
seeing
the
advertisement?
A.She
got
angry. B.She
got
frightened.
C.She
was
hesitating.
D.She
was
determined.
25.What
did
the
organizers
view
as
the
most
important
in
the
selection
of
new
hands?
A.Personal
quality.
B.Individual
ability.
C.Spirit
of
teamwork.
D.Courage
to
challenge.
26.What
does
the
author
think
of
women’s
showing
weakness?
A.Merciful.
B.Shameful.
C.Beneficial.
D.Disturbing.
27.What’s
the
intention
of
the
author
in
writing
this
passage?
A.To
inspire
us
to
prepare
for
our
future
goal.
B.To
advise
women
how
to
turn
to
others.
C.To
make
suggestions
to
her
team
members.
D.To
encourage
people
to
explore
the
unknown.
C
Many
people
like
traveling.
Travel
in
Canada
has
become
exciting
as
a
number
of
lakes
including
“Great
Lakes”
in
Canada
make
it
attractive.
In
fact,
Canada
has
more
lakes
than
any
other
country
which
contains
fresh
water.
In
addition
to
lakes,
Canada
has
a
number
of
beaches
as
it
has
a
long
coastline
on
its
north,
east,
and
west.
Travelers
from
around
the
world
come
in
large
numbers
to
enjoy
sunbath
at
various
beaches.
Niagara
Falls
lie
on
the
border
of
Canada
and
the
US.
It
is
now
popular
for
its
beauty
and
is
a
valuable
source
of
hydroelectric
power.
Niagara
Falls
are
most
attractive
during
summer
season
when
weather
condition
is
charming
and
attractive.
At
the
Canadian
side,
floodlights
illuminate(照亮)
both
sides
of
the
fall
for
several
hours
after
dark
and
the
whole
scene
becomes
magnificent.
When
traveling
to
Canada,
travelers
can
enjoy
doing
shopping
at
Toronto
which
is
considered
a
leading
city.
It
symbolizes
American
culture
and
the
spirit
of
independence.
Migrants
form
European,
Latin
American,
Asian
and
Caribbean
races
inhabit
the
place
and
make
it
a
plural
society.
Ottawa,
on
the
other
hand,
is
the
capital
of
Canada
and
center
of
political
activities.
Vancouver
is
an
enlightening
city
in
Canada
which
was
named
after
British
Captain
George
Vancouver,
who
explored
the
area
in
the
1790s.
The
city
is
a
leading
industrial
place
in
Canada.
Another
tourist
attraction
in
Canada
is
the
capital
city
of
British
Columbia,
Victoria.
The
city
is
located
on
the
southern
tip
of
Vancouver
Island.
Travel
in
Canada
is
being
made
easy
as
transportation
facilities
are
of
higher
standard.
Besides,
very
few
people
know
that
Canada
is
a
high-paying
country
in
terms
of
wages
per
hour.
In
addition
to
a
popular
tourist
destination,
Canada
is
an
economic
powerhouse
of
North
America,
particularly
in
agriculture
products.
Canada
dairy
industry
exports
milk
products
around
the
world.
28.

displays
the
Canadian

countries
D.

31.
Captain
George
Vancouver
is
referred
to
in
the
fourth
paragraph
in
order
to
_____.
A.
tell
us
a
history
story
B.
compare
Vancouver
and
Victoria
C.
remind
us
to
keep
him
in
mind
D.
introduce
the
city
of
Vancouver
D
There
are
two
types
of
people
in
the
world.
Although
they
have
equal
degree
of
health
and
wealth
and
other
things,
one
becomes
happy
and
the
other
becomes
unhappy.
This
arises
from
the
different
ways
in
which
they
consider
things,
persons,
events
and
the
resulting
effects
upon
their
minds.
People
who
are
to
be
happy
fix
their
attention
on
the
convenience
of
things:
the
pleasant
parts
of
conversation,
the
well
prepared
dishes,
the
goodness
of
the
wine
and
the
fine
weather.
They
enjoy
all
the
cheerful
things.
Those
who
are
to
be
unhappy
think
and
speak
only
of
the
opposite
things.
Therefore,
they
are
continually
dissatisfied.
By
their
remarks,
they
sour
the
pleasure
of
society,
hurt
many
people,
and
make
themselves
disagreeable
everywhere.
If
this
turn
of
mind
was
founded
in
nature,
such
unhappy
persons
would
be
the
more
to
be
pitied.
The
intention
of
criticizing
and
being
disliked
is
perhaps
taken
up
by
imitation
(模仿).
It
grows
into
a
habit,
unknown
to
its
owners.
The
habit
may
be
strong,
but
it
may
be
cured
when
they
realize
its
bad
effects
on
their
interests
and
tastes.
I
hope
this
little
warning
may
be
of
service
to
them,
and
help
them
change
this
habit.
Although
in
fact
it
is
mainly
an
act
of
the
imagination,
it
has
serious
results
in
life
since
it
brings
on
deep
sorrow
and
bad
luck.
Those
people
offend
many
others;
nobody
loves
them,
and
no
one
treats
them
with
more
than
the
most
common
politeness
and
respect.
This
frequently
puts
them
in
bad
temper
and
draws
them
into
arguments.
If
they
want
to
get
some
advantages
in
social
position
or
fortune,
nobody
wishes
them
success.
Nor
will
anyone
start
a
step
or
speak
a
word
to
favor
their
hopes.
If
they
do
something
wrong,
no
one
will
excuse
them,
and
many
will
join
to
criticize
their
wrongdoings.
These
should
change
this
bad
habit
and
be
pleased
with
what
is
pleasing,
without
worrying
needlessly
about
themselves
and
others.
If
they
do
not,
it
will
be
good
for
others
to
avoid
any
contact
with
them.
Otherwise,
it
can
be
disagreeable
and
sometimes
very
inconvenient,
especially
when
one
becomes
mixed
up
in
their
quarrels.
32.
People
who
are
unhappy
_______.
A.
always
consider
things
differently
from
others
B.
usually
misunderstand
what
others
think
or
say
C.
always
discover
the
unpleasant
side
of
certain
things
D.
usually
are
affected
by
the
results
of
certain
things
33.
The
phrase
“sour
the
pleasure
of
society”
most
nearly
means
“_______”.
A.
make
others
unhappy
B.
tend
to
scold
others
openly
C.
have
a
good
taste
with
social
life
D.
enjoy
the
pleasure
of
life
34.
We
can
conclude
from
the
passage
that
_______.
A.
we
should
pity
all
such
unhappy
people
B.
people
can
get
rid
of
the
habit
of
unhappiness
C.
such
unhappy
people
are
dangerous
to
social
life
D.
unhappy
people
can’t
understand
happy
persons
35.
If
people
keep
the
unhappy
habit,
the
author
suggests
we
should
____.
A.
prevent
any
communication
with
them
B.
show
no
respect
and
politeness
to
them
C.
persuade
them
to
recognize
the
bad
effects
D.
quarrel
with
them
until
they
realize
the
mistakes
