第二部分 阅读理解
(共两节,满分35分)
(共15题;每小题2分,满分30分)
A
When
you
are
learning
a
foreign
language,
one
of
the
hardest
things
to
grasp
is
how
and
when
to
use
colloquial
idioms
(口语习语)
and
expressions.
Often
used
in
both
spoken
and
written
language,
these
idioms
are
very
important.
Using
one
of
these
phrases
correctly
when
speaking
or
writing
to
an
English
speaker
is
very
impressive.
Here
are
some
wonderful
British
idioms.
Use
them
wisely!
1.
When
pigs
fly!
This
expression
is
one
of
my
favorites
and
I
use
it
all
the
time.
It
is
used
primarily
when
speaking,
meaning
that
something
is
extremely
unlikely
or
impossible.
For
example,
“I
will
forgive
him
when
pigs
fly!”
“When
do
you
think
you
will
get
a
gym
membership,
Louise?”
“When
pigs
fly!”
2.
A
penny
for
your
thoughts?
This
question
is
used
in
a
situation
where
someone
appears
thoughtful
or
is
very
quiet
seeming
lost
in
thought.
But
remember
that
you
don’t
actually
have
to
pay
them
a
penny
if
they
do
tell
you
what
is
going
on!
For
example,
“You’ve
been
a
bit
quiet
this
evening,
Pete.
A
penny
for
your
thoughts?”
3.
It’s
the
bee’s
knees.
This
expression
means
that
something
is
of
excellence
or
of
very
high
quality.
For
example,
“Try
this
chocolate.
It’s
the
bee’s
knees.”
4.
To
feel
a
bit
under
the
weather.
I
use
this
expression
in
many
different
situations
but
most
use
it
to
refer
to
feeling
ill,
or
unwell.
You
would
not
use
this
phrase
if
you
were
feeling
extremely
unwell.
It
is
only
for
those
times
when
you
are
feeling
a
little
ill,
or
suffering
from
something
slightly
like
a
cold
or
a
cough.
However,
this
can
also
be
used
to
talk
about
feeling
emotionally
low
21.
What
would
you
say
if
you
think
something
will
never
happen?
A.
When
pigs
fly!
B.
It’s
the
bee’s
knees.
C.
A
penny
for
your
thoughts?
D.
To
feel
a
bit
under
the
weather.
22.
What
does
“A
penny
for
your
thoughts?”
mean?
A.
Can
I
help
you?
B.
Do
you
need
money?
C.
How
are
you
feeling?
D.
What
are
you
thinking
about?
23.
What
is
the
author
most
likely
to
continue
to
write
at
the
end
of
the
last
paragraph?
A.
A
study.
B.
An
example.
C.
Another
idiom.
D.
The
meaning
of
the
idiom.
B
The
Green
Desert
garden
centre,
which
covers
more
than
5,000
square
metres
of
land,
contains
an
impressive
collection
of
over
3,000
palm
trees(棕榈树).
The
centre
is
owned
and
run
by
Ali
Al
Hamsa,
who
started
the
business
nearly
20
years
ago.
He
explained
how
to
grow
a
palm
tree
from
seed:
‘You
have
to
start
before
the
spring.
Place
the
palm
seeds
under
centimeters
of
special
soil,
so
that
they
can
start
to
grow.
This
should
be
done
early
in
the
year,
preferably
in
January
or
February,
but
it
depends
on
the
temperature.
If
you
have
enough
water
and
good
soil,
the
palm
will
grow
very
quickly.’
Palm
trees
vary
greatly
in
size.
You
can
buy
small
ones
for
the
house,
or
grow
them
larger
for
planting
in
the
garden.
The
price
varies
greatly
and
is
based
entirely
on
the
height
of
the
palm
tree.
Some
palms
at
the
garden
centre
are
small,
only
30-40
centimetres
in
height,
but
nothing
under
of
metre
is
ever
sold.
This
is
because
smaller
palms
are
not
yet
established.
Once
a
palm
tree
reaches
about
100
centimetres,
it
will
be
well
established
and
will
be
able
to
survive
the
move
from
the
garden
centre
to
someone’s
home
or
garden,’
says
Ali
Al
Hamsa.
‘A
tree
which
is
not
established
may
suffer
during
transportation
from
the
garden
centre
environment,
which
it
is
used
to,
to
its
new
home,
whether
indoors
or
in
the
garden.
People
who
buy
palm
trees

in
fact,
any
plant
from
a
garden
centre

are
often
totally
unaware
of
how
a
plant
can
suffer
when
it’s
moved.’
It
is
no
surprise
that
palm
trees
have
become
increasingly
popular
in
the
home.
Not
only
do
they
provide
a
tropical(热带的)
atmosphere,
they
have
also
proved
to
be
tolerant
of
a
wide
range
of
indoor
conditions
from
air
conditioning
to
central
heating.
Surprisingly,
an
established
indoor
palm
needs
only
a
little
sunlight
for
its
leaves
to
retain(保持)
their
color;
also,
it
needs
only
a
little
water
once
a
week
to
survive.
If
the
roots
of
a
palm
drink
a
lot
of
water,
the
plant
will
grow,
but
this
is
not
ideal
when
the
palm
is
grown
indoors.
Palm
trees
in
a
pot
in
the
home
are
watered
to
keep
them
alive,
not
to
make
them
grow
bigger.
24.When
should
palm
seeds
be
planted?
A.
In
spring
B.
In
summer
C.
In
autumn
D.
In
winter
25.The
price
of
a
palm
tree
depends
on
its
___.
A.
age
B.
width
C.
height
D.
weight
26.What
is
Paragraph
3
mainly
about?
A.
Who
likes
to
buy
palm
trees.
B.
How
to
transport
palm
trees.
C.
Why
small
palm
trees
are
not
sold.
D.
What
kind
of
palm
tree
is
popular.
27.An
indoor
palm
tree
_____.
A.
needs
a
lot
of
sunlight
B.
needs
not
much
water
C.
should
be
grown
without
central
heating
D.
should
be
grown
without
air
conditioning
C
We
humans
love
to
stare
into
our
smart
devices.
We
gaze
for
hours—about
10
hours
and
39
minutes
a
day—at
our
computers,
smartphones,
tablets
and
televisions.
Is
all
this
staring
bad
for
us?
It
might
be,
mainly
because
as
we
stare
at
our
devices
we
are
exposing(暴露)
ourselves
to
blue
light.
Blue
light
is
a
type
of
electromagnetic(电磁的)
radiation
with
a
very
short
wavelength
that
produces
a
high
amount
of
energy.
While
it’s
true
that
light
can
damage
our
eyes
under
certain
circumstances,
there’s
no
scientific
evidence
suggesting
that
blue
light
is
harmful
to
our
eyes.
But
many
people
still
think
it
is,
which
is
why
blue?light?blocking
glasses
are
so
popular.
So
do
the
glasses
work?
“Everyone
is
very
concerned
that
blue
light
may
be
causing
damage
to
the
eye,
but
there’s
no
evidence
that
it
may
be
causing
serious
damage,”Dr.
Rahul
Khurana,
clinical
spokesman
for
the
American
Academy
of
Ophthalmology,
told
Business
Insider.
Blue
light
exposure
is
nothing
new.
In
fact,
the
sun
is
the
largest
source
of
blue
light.
Moreover,
blue
light
is
also
present
in
LED
light.
But
if
blue
light
isn’t
harmful,
then
why
are
we
constantly
rubbing
our
eyes
when
we’re
looking
at
our
screens?
The
answer
is
eyestrain(眼疲劳):
More
than
60
percent
of
people
experience
eye
problems
associated
with
digital
eyestrain.
And
blue
light,
it
seems,
isn’t
the
cause.
Instead,
our
eyes
are
so
strained
because
most
of
us
blink
less
when
we
stare
at
our
digital
devices.
So
if
eyestrain
is
the
issue,
blue?light?blocking
glasses
are
probably
of
little
use.
28.What
do
we
know
about
blue
light?
A.It
is
a
kind
of
nuclear
radiation.
B.It
has
the
shortest
wavelength.
C.It
may
come
from
electronic
devices.
D.It
consumes
a
great
deal
of
energy.
29.What
causes
the
popularity
of
blue?light?blocking
glasses?
A.Evidence
of
their
benefits
to
eyes.
B.Belief
in
blue
light’s
harmful
effect.
C.Wide
spread
use
of
smart
devices.
D.Scientific
understanding
of
blue
light.
30.What
can
be
inferred
from
paragraph
4?
A.Blue
light
exposure
is
hardly
avoidable.
B.Eye
problems
are
not
easy
to
deal
with.
C.Blue
light
may
connect
with
tired
eyes.
D.Rubbing
eyes
makes
people
strained.
31.According
to
the
text,
wearing
blue?light?blocking
glasses
may
be
________.
A.tiring
B.harmful
C.useless
D.beneficial
D
Slowly
but
surely,
we’re
moving
closer
and
closer
to
5G
world.
From
smart
home
security
to
self?driving
cars,
all
the
Internet?connected
devices
in
our
life
will
be
able
to
talk
to
each
other
at
lightning?fast
speeds
with
reduced
delay.
Objectively
speaking,
the
fastest
4G
download
speeds
in
the
US
top
out
at
an
average
of
19.42
Mbps.
But
by
comparison,
5G
promises
gigabit(千兆)
speeds.
“5G
is
one
of
those
heralds(预兆),
along
with
artificial
intelligence,
of
this
coming
data
age,”
said
Steve
Koenig,
vice
president
of
market
research
for
the
Consumer
Technology
Association.
“The
self?driving
vehicle
is
a
great
emblem
of
this
data
age,
and
that
is
to
say,
it
is
a
sign
of
time,
because
with
one
single
task,
driving,
you
have
massive
amounts
of
data
coming
from
the
vehicle
itself,
and
a
variety
of
sensors
are
collecting
a
lot
of
information
to
model
its
environment
as
it
moves.
It’s
pulling
in
data
from
other
vehicles
about
road
conditions
down
the
lanes.
It
could
be
weather
information,
or
connected
infrastructure(基础设施)
construction.
There’s
lots
of
data
behind
that
task,
which
is
why
we
need
the
capacity
and
high
speed.”
And
virtual
reality
glasses
and
headsets
haven’t
yet
become
the
mainstream,
but
tech
companies
are
joyfully
betting
that
these
devices
will
eventually
replace
our
smartphones.
With
5G,
that
could
actually
happen.
This
is
notable
because
companies
such
as
Apple
are
reportedly
developing
AR
glasses
to
assist—or
even
replace—smartphones.
Ericsson
stated
at
February’s
Mobile
World
Congress
how
smart
glasses
could
become
faster
and
lighter
with
a
5G
connection,
because
instead
of
being
weighed
down
with
components,
the
glasses
could
rely
on
hardware
for
processing
power.
But
don’t
get
too
excited.
There’s
still
a
lot
of
work
to
be
done
in
the
meantime,
including
various
trials
to
make
sure
the
radios
play
nicely
with
hardware
and
infrastructure
construction,
so
5G
isn’t
concentrated
only
in
big
cities.
32.What
is
the
first
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.The
coming
world
of
5G.
B.The
tight
security
of
5G.
C.The
super
speed
of
5G.
D.A
potential
dream
of
5G.
33.Which
of
the
following
can
replace
the
underlined
word
“emblem”
in
paragraph
2?
A.Exhibition.
B.Success.
C.Symbol.
D.Explanation.
34.What
can
we
learn
from
paragraph
3?
A.5G
world
will
no
longer
work
effectively
without
the
virtual
reality
devices.
B.Apple
and
other
companies
are
creatively
developing
worldwide
AR
glasses.
C.These
virtual
reality
devices
are
properly
opening
up
the
commercial
market
soon.
D.Tech
companies
will
optimistically
face
the
fact
of
smartphones’
being
replaced.
35.What
will
the
author
tell
us
in
the
next
paragraph?
A.How
to
fully
expand
5G
coverage.
B.How
to
effectively
reduce
5G
trials.
C.How
to
nicely
operate
5G
hardware.
D.How
to
widely
construct
5G
in
big
cities.
