Brenda
Bongos
was
a
girl
with
one
big
ambition─to
play
the
drums
in
a
band.
But
a(n)
21
lay
in
her
way.
To
be
good
enough
to
play
in
a
band,
Brenda
had
to
practice
a
lot,
but
she
lived
next-door
to
lots
of
22
people
in
a
care
home.
The
sound
of
23
drums
would
really
annoy
them.
Brenda
was
24
.
She
always
tried
to
find
a
way
of
practicing
her
drums
without
25
other
people,
but
without
success.
However,
26
to
practice
as
much
as
she
could,
Brenda
tried
all
kinds
of
ways.
One
day,
while
watching
a
science
documentary,
she
heard
that
27
cannot
travel
in
space
without
air.
At
that
moment,
Brenda
Bongos
decided
to
become
a
28
astronaut.
So
Brenda
built
a
space
bubble
29
with
a
machine,
which
drew
out
all
air.
Inside
was
a
set
of
drums.
Once
inside,
Brenda
30
the
machine
and
played
like
mad.
It
wasn’t
long
before
she
had
become
31
.
Many
people
came
to
see
her
play
in
her
space
bubble.
Shortly
afterwards,
she
started
giving
concerts
out
of
the
bubble.
32
Brenda
became
a
real
musical
astronaut
as
the
government
asked
her
to
be
part
of
a
space
journey,
and
had
gone
far
beyond
her
first
33
of
playing
drums
in
a
band.
When
asked
how
she
had
achieved
all
this,
she
said,
“If
those
old
people
next
door
hadn’t
34
so
much
to
me,
I
wouldn’t
have
gone
to
such
lengths
to
find
a(n)
35
,
and
none
of
this
would
have
ever
happened.

B
My
mother
always
said,
“You
young
men
should
explore
your
own
country
before
stepping
out
into
the
world.”
It
seemed
like
a
tough
task.
But
luckily
for
me,
Via
Rail
Canada
offered
youths
between
the
ages
of
18
and
25
the
chance
to
ride
the
train
across
Canada
for
the
month
of
July
in
2020.
I
jumped
at
the
opportunity
and
secured
an
inexpensive
ticket.
Excitement
was
at
its
peak
as
I
approached
the
train
station
on
the
morning
when
my
22-day
adventure
was
to
begin.
I
jumped
on
board
the
passenger
vessel(车厢)
like
it
was
the
train
to
Hogwarts
in
Harry
Potter.
The
train
headed
west
in
search
of
our
first
destination─the
scenic
town
of
Banff,
Alberta.
After
just
an
hour
on
the
train,
desperation
already
came
on
me.
The
thought
of
three
full
days
on
those
tracks
broke
my
spirits.
As
I
gazed
out
towards
Lake
Superior’s
glistening(闪闪发亮)
waves,
I
decided
if
I
was
to
be
stuck
in
here,
I
would
need
to
enjoy
my
time.
Those
three
days
turned
into
a
summer
camp
on
rails.
Real
friendships
with
the
crew
were
born
within
that
train.
Stops
were
made
in
small,
remote
railroad
villages.
A
large
group
of
strangers
would
rush
towards
the
villages
to
reward
our
endless
patience
with
local
cuisine,
and
we
soon
turned
travelling
companions.
At
night,
we
would
walk
to
the
glass-domed(玻璃穹顶)
train
car,
which
gave
us
a
scenic
view
of
the
night
sky,
untouched
by
light
pollution.
After
three
days,
we
arrived
in
Banff.
Before
my
adventure
of
taking
the
train
across
Canada,
if
I
could
have
skipped
the
travel
and
arrived
at
the
destination,
I
would
have.
But
that
is
no
longer
true.
I’ve
learned
that
the
journey
can
be
more
enjoyable
than
the
destination.

Scientists
at
Israel’s
Tel
Aviv
University
say
they
have
created
the
world’s
first
3D-printed
heart
with
human
tissue
and
blood
vessels.
Although
the
organ
is
only
as
big
as
a
rabbit’s
heart,
the
researchers
are
hoping
the
technology
could
one
day
be
developed
enough
to
help
human
patients
in
need
of
a
heart
transplant.
Lead
researcher
Tal
Dvir
said
that
while
other
scientists
have
managed
to
3D-print
the
structure
of
a
heart
in
the
past,
this
is
the
first
time
anyone
has
printed
an
entire
heart.
“Our
results
demonstrate
the
potential
of
our
approach
for
engineering
personalized
tissue
and
organ
replacement
in
the
future,”
Dvir
said
in
a
press
statement.
Scientists
used
fatty
tissue
taken
from
human
patients
to
create
the
heart.
Some
material
in
the
tissue
was
reprogrammed
to
become
stem
cells.
The
remaining
material
was
processed
into
a
hydrogel.
They
used
the
hydrogel
as
a
printing:
“ink”.
This
method
plays
a
key
role
in
removing
the
risk
that
the
implant
will
be
rejected
by
the
patient’s
body.
The
team’s
next
step
is
to
cultivate
the
organs
in
a
lab
and
to
teach
them
how
to
“behave”
like
hearts.
Dvir’s
3D-printed
hearts
can
currently
contract,
but
the
cells
still
need
to
develop
a
pumping
ability.
His
team
eventually
plans
to
test
the
hearts
in
animals.
“Maybe,
in
ten
years,
there
will
be
organ
printers
in
the
finest
hospitals
around
the
world,
and
these
procedures
will
be
conducted
routinely,”
Dvir
said.
Heart
disease
is
the
leading
cause
of
death
for
both
men
and
women,
according
to
the
Centers
for
Disease
Control
and
Prevention.
About
610,000
people
die
of
this
disease
in
America
every
year─amounting
to
about
1
in
every
4
deaths.
There
are
currently
more
than
3,
700
people
waiting
for
a
heart
transplant
in
the
United
States,
according
to
data
from
the
United
States
Department
of
Health
and
Human
Services.
43.
What
is
the
purpose
of
creating
the
3D-printed
heart?
A.
To
develop
3
D-printed
technology.
B.
To
help
patients
receive
a
new
heart.
C.
To
study
the
hearts
of
rabbits.
D.
To
connect
hospitals
with
universities.
44.
What
is
Paragraph
3
mainly
about?
A.
The
procedures
of
the
research.
B.
The
importance
of
the
research.
C.
The
method
of
the
3D-printed
heart.
D.
The
material
of
the
3D-printed
heart.
45.
Why
does
the
author
mention
the
current
situation
of
heart
disease
patients?
A.
To
appeal
to
hospitals
to
reduce
medical
fees.
B.
To
explain
the
main
reason
for
heart
disease.
C.
To
show
the
need
to
advance
the
new
technology.
D.
To
urge
researchers
to
develop
effective
medical
devices.
46.
What
is
Dvir’s
attitude
towards
the
new
technology?
A.
Doubtful.
B.
Positive.
C.
Disapproving.
D.
Indifferent.
D
Hardware
in
general,
and
smartphones
in
particular,
have
become
a
huge
environmental
and
health
problem
in
the
Global
South’s
landfill
sites(垃圾填埋场).
Electronic
waste
(e-waste)
currently
takes
up
5
percent
of
all
global
waste,
and
it
is
set
to
increase
rapidly
as
more
of
us
own
more
than
one
smartphone,
laptop
and
power
bank.
They
end
up
in
places
like
Agbogbloshie
on
the
outskirts
of
Ghana’s
capital,
Accra.
It
is
the
biggest
e-waste
dump
in
the
world,
where
10,000
informal
workers
walk
through
tons
of
abandoned
goods
as
part
of
an
informal
recycling
process.
They
risk
their
health
searching
for
the
precious
metals
that
are
found
in
abandoned
smartphones.
But
Agbogbloshie
legally
should
not
exist.
The
Basel
Convention,
a
1989
treaty,
aims
to
prevent
developed
nations
from
unauthorized
dumping
of
e-waste
in
less
developed
countries.
The
e-waste
industry,
however,
circumvents
regulation
by
exporting
e-waste
labelled
as
“secondhand
goods”
to
poor
countries
like
Ghana,
knowing
full
well
that
it
is
heading
for
a
landfill
site.
A
recent
report
found
Agbogbloshie
contained
some
of
the
most
dangerous
chemicals.
This
is
not
surprising:
smart
phones
contain
chemicals
like
mercury(水银),
lead
and
even
arsenic(砷).
Reportedly,
one
egg
from
a
free-range
chicken
in
Agbogbloshie
contained
a
certain
chemical
which
can
cause
cancer
and
damage
the
immune
system
at
a
level
that’s
about
220
times
greater
than
a
limit
set
by
the
European
Food
Safety
Authority
(EFSA).
Most
worryingly,
these
poisonous
chemicals
are
free
to
pollute
the
broader
soil
and
water
system.
This
should
concern
us
all,
since
some
of
Ghana’s
top
exports
are
cocoa
and
nuts.
Some
governments
have
started
to
take
responsibility
for
their
consumers’
waste.
For
example,
Germany
has
started
a
project
that
includes
a
sustainable
recycling
system
at
Agbogbloshie,
along
with
a
health
clinic
for
workers.
However,
governments
cannot
solve
the
problem
alone,
as
there
is
an
almost
limitless
consumer
demand
for
hardware,
especially
when
governments’
green
policies
are
focused
on
issues
like
climate
change.
Only
the
manufacturers
can
fix
this.
A
more
economically
sustainable
and
politically
possible
solution
is
through
encouraging
hardware
manufacturers
to
make
the
repair,
reuse
and
recycling
of
hardware
profitable,
or
at
least
cost-neutral.
47.
What
can
we
infer
from
Paragraph
2?
A.
Electronic
waste
requires
more
landfill
sites.
B.
Electronic
waste
is
too
complex
to
get
fully
recycled.
C.
Electronic
products
need
to
be
improved
immediately.
D.
Electronic
pollution
is
a
burning
question
in
Agbogbloshie.
48.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“circumvents”
in
Paragraph
3
mean?
A.
Relaxes.
B.
Abolishes.
C.
Avoids.
D.
Tightens.
49.
What
should
be
the
biggest
concern
according
to
the
text?
A.
The
violation
of
EFSA’s
standards.
B.
The
threat
of
polluted
food
worldwide.
C.
The
lack
of
diversity
in
Ghana’s
exports.
D.
The
damage
to
chicken’s
immune
system.
50.
What
does
the
author
think
is
the
best
solution
to
the
e-waste
problem?
A.
Letting
governments
take
on
the
main
responsibility.
B.
Reducing
customers’
demands
for
electronic
products.
C.
Governments
adjusting
their
green
policies
about
e-waste.
D.
Manufacturers’
developing
a
sustainable
hardware
economy.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
How
you
talk
to
yourself
about
events,
experiences
and
people
plays
a
large
role
in
shaping
how
you
interpret
events.
When
you
find
yourself
interpreting
something
in
a
negative
way
or
only
focusing
on
the
bad
aspect
of
the
situation,
look
for
ways
to
talk
about
the
events
in
a
more
positive
light.
51
Instead,
it
simply
means
refocusing
so
that
you
give
fair
and
equal
importance
to
good
events.
When
you
find
yourself
worrying
about
things,
look
for
an
uplifting
activity
to
pull
yourself
out
of
this
negative
mindset(心态)
52
In
this
case,
try
to
turn
your
attention
elsewhere
and
engage
in
an
activity
that
brings
you
joy.
Listening
to
cheerful
music,
going
for
a
walk,
and
reading
a
good
book
are
all
ways
to
get
your
mind
off
negative
thoughts.
53
Therefore,
it
is
important
to
give
extra
attention
to
good
things
that
happen.
Where
negative
things
might
be
quickly
transferred
and
stored
in
your
long-term
memory,
you
need
to
make
more
efforts
to
get
the
same
effect
from
happy
moments.
54
Replay
the
moment
several
times
in
your
memory
and
focus
on
the
wonderful
feelings
the
memory
inspires.
The
negativity
bias
(偏见)
can
have
a
powerful
impact
on
your
behavior,
but
being
aware
of
it
means
you
can
take
steps
to
adopt
a
more
positive
outlook
on
life.
One
of
the
best
ways
to
combat
negative
bias
is
taking
a
more
mindful
approach
involving
being
aware
of
your
own
tendency
toward
negativity
and
consciously
elevating
(使情绪高昂)
happier
thoughts
to
the
forefront
of
awareness.
55
Taking
steps
to
avoid
this
bias
can
play
a
role
in
boosting
your
mental
well-being.
A.
It
refers
to
seeing
things
in
a
new
view.
B.
It
takes
more
for
positive
things
to
be
remembered.
C.
You
probably
don’t
realize
how
often
you
say
negative
things.
D.
Thinking
repeatedly
about
the
negative
can
result
in
a
serious
loss.
E.
So
when
something
great
happens,
take
a
moment
to
really
focus
on
it.
F.
This
doesn’t
mean
ignoring
potential
dangers
or
wearing
rose-colored
glasses.
G.
For
example,
you
may
find
yourself
mentally
reviewing
an
unpleasant
event
or
outcome.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It
was
a
lazy
Sunday
morning,
the
type
of
day
that
getting
out
of
bed
requires
an
effort.
When
Marilyn
and
I
entered
the
kitchen,
Lori
was
already
at
the
table
doing
her
homework.
Seeing
us
coming,
she,
suddenly,
stood
and
faced
me,
“Why
are
there
more
pictures
of
Lisa
than
there
are
of
me?”
she
asked.
Lisa
is
our
older
daughter.
I
stared
back,
not
understanding
the
question.
Lori
turned
and
left
the
room.
Caught
off-guard
by
the
question,
I
looked
at
Marilyn.
“Are
there
more
pictures
of
Lisa
than
of
Lori?”
Marilyn
shrugged
and
raised
her
eyebrows
in
a
motion
of
puzzlement.
“Are
you
aware
that
there
are
more
pictures
of
Lisa
than
Lori?”
I
added.
Marilyn
said,
“I’ve
never
counted
them.
I
don’t
know.”
Marilyn’s
answer
was
the
same
as
my
thoughts,
“I
hadn’t
realized
that
there
was
any
significant
difference.
Now
why
would
Lori
ask
such
a
question?”
I
asked.
Marilyn
just
shook
her
head
and
stared
back
at
me.
After
a
few
minutes
of
thought
she
said,
“When
Lisa
was
born,
you
were
taking
photographs.
You
hardly
went
anywhere
without
a
camera.
When
Lori
was
born,
you
were
involved
in
colored
slides
(幻灯片).
There
must
be
hundreds
of
slides
of
Lori
somewhere
in
the
house
that
Lori
has
never
seen
or
doesn’t
remember.”
After
digesting
Marilyn’s
remarks,
I
agreed.
“After
Lori
leaves,
we’ll
look
for
those
slides.
Who
knows,
we
may
find
more
slides
of
Lori
than
pictures
of
Lisa,”
I
joked.
Later
that
afternoon,
when
we
were
alone,
we
went
into
the
basement
where
we
had
stored
the
boxes
that
we
had
brought
from
our
previous
home.
It
wasn’t
long
before
we
discovered
the
trays
of
slides,
and
for
the
rest
of
the
afternoon
we
looked
at
each
tray,
pointing
out
those
slides
that
highlighted
Lori.
“What
are
you
going
to
do?”
Marilyn
asked.
“It’s
her
birthday
in
a
few
weeks,”
I
said,
“We’ll
select
about
one
hundred
slides
with
Lori
and
convert
(转换,转变)
them
into
pictures,
put
them
into
an
album
and
give
to
her
as
a
gift.
Idon’t
know
if
the
album
will
answer
her
question,
but
at
least
she’ll
know
that
we
care
enough
to
find
her
an
answer.”
注意:
1.
续写词数应为150左右;
2.
请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答

第二节(满分20分)
Over
the
next
few
days,
we
secretly
went
through
all
of
our
slides.
We
kept
on
selecting
and
rejecting
pictures
until
we
were
satisfied.
Those
pictures
brought
back
memories
of
the
early
years
of
our
marriage
and
we
hoped
they
showed
how
we
felt
about
our
daughter.
Marilyn
had
them
converted
into
photographs.
Then,
we
placed
them
into
an
album
with
a
birthday
card
explaining
why
her
mother
and
I
had
put
the
album
together.
When
the
album
was
finally
finished,
we
hid
the
book
until
her
birthday.
On
November
24,
before
leaving
for
work,
I
opened
her
door
and
slipped
the
album
inside.
Then
I
left
the
house
and
drove
to
work.
I
was
about
to
enter
the
office
when
the
telephone
rang.
I
picked
up
the
receiver,
and
on
the
other
end
of
the
receiver,
a
tiny
voice
spoke,
“I
love
you,
Daddy,”
she
said
and
disconnected.
The
receiver
remained
against
my
ear
for
a
few
more
minutes
before
I
placed
it
on
the
telephone.
Our
message
had
been
delivered
and
acknowledged.

want
to
publish
anything.
I
just
want
to
raise
the
standard
of
my
own
writing.
W:
Yes,
it
depends
on
whether
you
want
to,
you
know,
write
creatively
or
for
fun.
We
also
have
fiction
writing
that
includes
writing
children’s
stories.
M:
Well,
I
work
in
an
advertising
agency,
so
I’d
like
to
write
better
so
that
I’d
like
my
salary
to
rise.
W:
OK,
so
we
can
send
you
our
brochure
for
business
writing
and
if
you
think
it’ll
be
right
for
you,
then
you
can
sign
up.
M:
Great.
What
happens
after
that?
W:
Then
we
send
you
the
course
pack.

W:
Jack,
congratulations
on
winning
the
Best
Actor
Award
tonight.
So
what
does
this
award
mean
to
you?
M:
Thanks!
Well,
I
enjoy
being
famous,
but
sometimes
I
struggle
with
it—being
constantly
in
the
public
eye
can
be
difficult.
W:
That’s
understandable.
When
did
you
first
know
you
wanted
to
be
an
actor?
M:
It
was
at
school,
when
I
played
Orsino
in
Shakespeare’s
Twelfth
Night.
W:
Was
that
your
big
break
(重大转机)?
M:
My
first
major
role
was
in
New
York
Summertime.
W:
How
did
your
life
change
after
that?
M:
I
was
suddenly
very
busy.
I
began
to
spend
a
lot
of
time
socializing
and
would
often
end
up
partying
late
into
the
night.
One
night,
while
I
was
filming
High
Seas,
I
had
too
much
to
drink
and
decided
to
drive
home.
I
crashed
a
car
and
badly
injured
my
right
leg.
There
was
a
lot
of
negative
news,
but
the
worst
thing
was
how
I
felt
about
myself.
I
couldn’t
believe
I’d
been
so
stupid!
W:
You
also
lost
your
role
in
High
Seas,
didn’t
you?
M:
Yes.
The
accident
was
a
real
turning
point
in
my
life.
After
that,
I
didn’t
touch
alcohol
again
for
almost
a
year.
Then
I
met
my
wife
Kerri
and
had
two
wonderful
twin
boys.
They
have
really
helped
me
to
accept
and
appreciate
life
on
and
off
stage.

Good
afternoon.
My
name’s
Debbie
Green
and
I’m
going
to
give
you
a
short
but
hopefully
interesting
introduction
to
working
at
this
hospital.
Because
a
hospital
environment
can
be
stressful,
we
always
encourage
our
staff
to
stay
fit
and
have
a
healthy
lifestyle.
So…
just
a
few
tips
first.
When
you
feel
hungry,
it’s
often
too
easy
to
grab
something
quick,
because
you’re
tired
or
busy.
Cooking
a
healthy
meal
takes
longer,
and
this
is
often
why
people
live
on
sandwiches
and
fast
food
instead.
Please
don’t
fall
into
this
unhealthy
trap.
Of
course,
you
have
to
do
a
little
exercise
and
keep
fit
as
well.
I
know
you’ll
have
a
lot
of
work
and
may
not
have
time
to
join
a
gym.
But
consider
how
often
you
take
the
lift,
rather
than
the
stairs,
or
how
often
you
drive
rather
than
walk.
Moving
on
to
health
and
safety,
I
want
to
point
out
that
it’s
quite
OK
to
take
a
break
any
time
that
you’re
not
busy.
We
know
that
when
there’s
an
emergency
you
may
have
to
miss
that
cup
of
tea
or
coffee
in
the
canteen
or
wherever
you
go,
but
generally
you
shouldn’t
work
for
more
than
three
hours
without
a
break,
otherwise
your
attention
levels
will
drop
and
you
could
then
make
a
careless
mistake
