A high school in the southern US is offering students eight dollars an hour to go to study hall if they are weak in Math and Science.
"We started last Tuesday. The kids are very interested in it," Mike Robinson, the headmaster of Creekside High School in Fairburn, said.
Forty students--20 from middle school and 20 from high school--were chosen because of their poor grades in Math and Science. They are invited to have two-hour remedial classes twice a week. A private foundation will offer money to these students.
At the end of the 15-week experiment, if a student goes to every class, he will be given 480 dollars. If he gets a "B" grade or better in Math or Science after finishing the class, he will get another 125 dollars. So he will get 605 dollars in all.
"You know, in our school, you have to be really creative to get some students interested," said Robinson.
Now, there are 2,500 students in this school. The headmaster of the school thought this plan was helpful for improving students' grades in Math and Science.
