An English Christmas
Christmas is a winter festival. It celebrates the birth of Christ(耶稣基督) but many people who are not Christians (基督徒) like to celebrate Christmas too.
Christmas Day is on the 25th of December. In England, Christmas Day is a public holiday (公共假日) and many people have the day off work. Most people like to spend Christmas with their family.
At Christmas time we send cards to our friends and families. We shop for presents and get ready for Christmas. We decorate our houses with Christmas cards, coloured lights and Christmas trees.
The Christmas tree is a very important part of the celebrations. Most families have a tree and we decorate (装饰) it with tinsel (金属线) ,
lights and candy. Green and red are
the traditional Christmas colours.
On the morning of Christmas Day, we give and receive(收到) Christmas presents. Most families have a special Christmas meal. We eat turkey with potatoes and Christmas pudding.
