Ⅰ.阅读理解
A
Reading
books
and
looking
at
pictures
are
great,
but
nothing
facilitates(促进)
learning
like
travel,
especially
for
teenagers.
Not
only
do
they
get
to
see
a
world
beyond
their
neighborhood,
but
they
get
to
experience
it,
feel
it,
taste
it,
hear
it
and
better
understand
the
world
around
them.
After
nearly
four
decades
in
the
classroom
and
traveling
the
world,
Phyllis
Duvall
Bailey
knew
this
perhaps
better
than
anyone
else.
Becoming
engaged
in
the
work
in
AKA
Sorority
Inc.
in
the
US,
she
worked
to
educate
children
on
the
United
Nations.
There
was
no
doubt
in
Bailey's
mind
that
the
lessons
would
mean
so
much
more
if
the
students
could
see
these
things
for
themselves.
Starting
in
2015,
Bailey,
82,
set
out
to
take
her
students
to
the
UN
headquarters
in
New
York
City
to
give
them
a
“Window
Seat
to
the
World”,
and
thus
transformed
them
into
global
citizens.
Indeed,
it
is
a
great
opportunity
to
give
students
national
and
international
exposure.
Since
Bailey
saw
the
students
as
future
leaders,
she
was
desperate
to
expose
them
to
the
UN,
its
mission,
its
agendas
(议程)
and
its
supporting
organizations.
She
decided
to
give
$10,
000
of
her
own
money
to
pay
for
the
late
June
trip,
enough
to
take
10
students
aged
14-17
on
a
four?night
stay
in
New
York.
There,
they
had
guided
tours
of
the
UN
headquarters
and
the
New
York
City
harbor.
It
was
Quenyaun
Payne's
first
trip
to
the
city
and
Taylor
Sappington's
second.
Payne,
17,
is
a
senior
at
Mceachem
High
School
in
the
state
of
Georgia,
the
US.
Sappington,
15,
is
a
junior
at
Therrell
High
School
in
Atlanta,
Georgia,
the
US.
Both
said
their
visit
to
the
UN
was
inspiring.
“I
like
not
only
how
countries
are
working
together
but
they're
focused
on
common
goals
like
global
warming
and
keeping
peace,”Sappington
said.
Payne
commented,
“The
trip
was
amazing.
I'm
so
thankful
Mrs.
Bailey
made
it
possible.”
Actually,
there
are
a
lot
of
people
grateful
for
the
retired
teacher's
effort.
The
United
Nations
Association
of
Atlanta
recently
gave
Bailey
its
Humanitarian
Award,
and
the
United
Nations
Association
of
the
US
awarded
her
with
the
National
Education
Award.
But
Bailey
wasn't
looking
for
recognition
or
even
gratitude.
Over
those
four
days
in
New
York,
she'd
already
felt
it
and
seen
it
in
the
eyes
of
those
10
teenagers,
Payne
and
Sappington
included,
who
made
the
trip.
“It
has
been
a
real
joy
to
get
to
see
their
reaction
to
new
experiences,”
she
said.

in
the
future.
B.He

no
interest
in

City
once
again.
4.What

Bailey
most
joyful
according
to
the
passage?

B
Aging
brings
wrinkles,
sagging
bodies
and
frustrating
forgetfulness.
But
getting
older
is
not
bad
for
many
people.Mounting
evidence
suggests
aging
may
be
a
key
to
happiness.
There
is
conflicting
research
on
the
subject,
however,
and
experts
say
it
may
all
boil
down
to
this:
The
attitude
is
everything.
Older
adults
tend
to
be
more
optimistic
and
have
a
more
positive
outlook
on
life.
The
big
question
is
why
seniors
are
happier.
A
recent
study
suggests
one
reason:Older
adults
remember
the
past
through
happy
memories.
Aging
can
bring
more
cheer
as
people
become
more
comfortable
with
themselves
and
their
roles
in
society.
The
older
adults
said
they
were
enjoying
more
time
with
their
family,
spending
more
time
on
hobbies
and
having
greater
financial
security
and
did
not
have
to
work.
But
others
are
doubtful
about
the
link
between
happiness
and
growing
older.
“The
notion
that
those
in
old
age
are
happier
is
misleading,”
said
Richard
Easterlin,
a
professor
of
economics
at
the
University
of
Southern
California.
“It
is
based
on
comparing
people
of
different
ages
who
are
the
same
in
terms
of
income,
health
and
family
life.”
Easterlin
added,
“
When
you
take
account
of
the
fact
that
older
people
who
have
lower
income
than
the
younger
are
less
healthy,
and
more
likely
to
be
living
alone,
then
you
will
find
it
hard
to
accept
that
they
are
happier.”
In
fact,
scientists
have
found
that
as
people
age,
their
health
declines
and
social
networks
disappear
as
their
friends
die,
which
can
make
the
elderly
less
happy.
Even
if
one
does
give
in
to
age's
dark
side,
health
and
happiness
don't
always
go
hand?in?hand.
It's
all
about
the
attitude.
Research
by
the
University
of
Chicago's
Yang
suggests
that
the
attitude
to
life
and
happiness
is
partly
shaped
by
the
era
in
which
a
person
was
born.
It
turns
out
that
individuals
who
adapt
the
best
to
changes
also
have
the
highest
expected
levels
of
happiness.
Despite
the
conflicting
findings
about
aging
and
happiness,
the
good
news
is
that
there
doesn't
appear
to
be
a
limit
to
how
much
happiness
one
can
achieve
in
one's
life.
“Most
people
desire
happiness,”
Easterlin
said.
“To
my
knowledge,
no
one
has
identified
a
limit
to
attainable
happiness.”
5.What
does
the
last
paragraph
mainly
tell
us?
A.The
key
factor
in
older
adults'
happiness.
B.There
is
a
conflict
between
aging
and
happiness.
C.No
one
can
define
the
limit
to
happiness.
D.The
relationship
between
health
and
happiness.
6.Why
are
some
seniors
happier
according
to
some
experts?
A.They
focus
on
what
makes
them
feel
good.
B.They
have
their
own
circle
of
friends.
C.They
have
better
income
after
retirement.
D.They
can
enjoy
social
welfare
services.
7.What
can
we
learn
from
the
passage?
A.People
of
the
same
age
have
the
same
sense
of
happiness.
B.The
attitude
may
play
a
very
important
role
in
happiness.
C.People
who
adapt
the
best
to
changes
are
more
likely
to
be
unhappy.
D.Older
adults
who
have
more
valuable
life
experience
are
more
optimistic.
8.What's
the
topic
discussed
in
the
passage?
A.Whether
aging
or
the
attitude
brings
happiness.
B.Why
seniors
adapt
the
best
to
changes
in
society.
C.What
the
limit
to
an
elder
person's
happiness
is.
D.How
older
people
feel
compared
with
younger
people.

Ⅱ.完形填空
【语篇解读】 文章讲述了作者想要实现能够进入学生会的梦想,并最终赢得了选举,顺利地进入了学生会,实现了儿时的梦想。同时也收获了很多。
1.答案与解析:A 考查动词辨析。根据“So
I
dreamed
of
being
a
leader.”可知,作者梦想成为一名领导者,作者总是钦佩学校的领导们对所有学生负责。admire“钦佩;仰慕”符合句意。
2.答案与解析:A 考查动词辨析。pray“祈祷”,符合作者想赢得选举的心情。plan“计划”,calculate“计算”,judge“判断”。
3.答案与解析:B 考查形容词辨析。根据语境可知,作者不知道拿什么来赢得选举,所以感到沮丧。depressed“沮丧的”,符合作者的心情。concerned“担心的”,surprised“惊讶的”,confused“困惑的”。
4.答案与解析:C 考查副词辨析。句意:……我突然做了一个深呼吸并决定不放弃梦想。suddenly符合作者坚定的态度。gradually“渐渐地”,immediately“立即”,impatiently“不耐烦地”。
5.答案与解析:A 考查名词辨析。由语境可知,该空指的是下文提到的作者的竞争对手们,也就是competitor“竞争对手”。companion“同伴”,enemy“敌人”,schoolmate“同学”,均不符合语境。
6.答案与解析:B 考查名词辨析。由上文的“in
their

A
American
researchers
say
drinking
tea
may
help
strengthen
the
body's
defense
system
against
infection.
Doctors
at
Brigham
and
Women's
Hospital
in
Boston,
Massachusetts,
did
the
study.
The
team
studied
a
chemical
found
in
black,
green,
oolong
and
pekoe
tea.
This
chemical
is
an
amino
acid(氨基酸)
called
L?theanine.
The
scientists
say
it
may
increase
the
strength
of
gamma
delta
T
cells.
That's
the
letter
T,
not
the
drink.
Gamma
delta
T
cells
are
part
of
the
body's
defense.
First,
the
researchers
mixed
some
of
these
cells
with
antigens
(抗原)
found
in
the
amino
acid.
Antigens
help
the
body
react
to
infection.
Then
the
scientists
added
some
bacteria.
Within
twenty?four
hours,
the
cells
produced
a
lot
of
interferon
(干扰素),
a
substance
that
fights
infection.
Cells
not
mixed
with
the
antigens
did
not
produce
interferon.
In
the
second
part
of
the
study,
eleven
people
drank
five
to
six
cups
of
black
tea
every
day.
Ten
other
people
drank
the
same
amount
of
instant
coffee.
That
is
dried
coffee
mixed
with
hot
water.
Two
weeks
later,
and
again
two
weeks
after
that,
the
researchers
tested
the
blood
of
all
twenty?one
people.
They
also
looked
at
what
happened
when
they
added
bacteria
to
the
blood
cells.
They
found
that
the
tea
drinkers
produced
five
times
more
interferon
after
they
started
drinking
tea.
The
coffee
drinkers
did
not
produce
interferon.
Doctor
Jack
Bukowski
led
the
study.
He
said
the
antigens
added
to
the
gamma
delta
T
cells
were
responsible
for
the

to
the
bacteria.
He
said
that
the

also
showed
that
the
cells
were
able
to

the
bacteria
and
fight
them
again
next
time.

A
John
Otway
John
Otway
has
been
playing
music
and
making
records
in
the
UK
for
more
than
40
years.
Over
the
years
he
has
released
more
than
ten
albums.
He
has
played
at
hundreds
of
concerts.
He
has
written
two
autobiographies.
He
has
worked
with
some
of
the
country's
best
musicians
and
he
has
even
made
a
film
about
his
life.
But
despite
all
of
this,
most
people
have
never
heard
of
him.
Otway
released
his
first
record
in
1972,
but
it
was
the
punk
movement
a
few
years
later
that
really
gave
him
his
big
chance.
Otway
wasn't
the
greatest
musician
but
his
songs
were
always
fun,
and
his
performances
on
stage
were
always
entertaining—there
was
a
good
chance
he
would
fall
off
the
stage
at
least
once
in
each
show.
The
punks
liked
him,
and
in
1977
he
had
a
small
hit
when
his
single

the
charts
in
the
UK.
Otway
really
enjoyed
his
success
but
unfortunately,
no
more
came.
Not
one
of
his
records
over
the
next
30
years
was
a
hit.
Although
he
never
had
much
commercial
success,
Otway
had
a
lot
of
very
loyal
fans.
When
someone
asked
him
what
he
would
like
for
his
50th
birthday,
his
reply
was:
“A
second
hit.”
His
fans
went
out
and
bought
as
many
copies
of
the
new
single
Bunsen
Burner
as
they
could.
And
in
October
2002,
Otway
finally
saw
his
wish
come
true.
In
the
charts
that
featured
international
superstars
like
Will
Young
and
Oasis,
Bunsen
Burner
made
it
to
No.
9.Many
high
street
shops
refused
to
sell
the
record,
saying
that
Otway
was
too
old
and
unattractive
for
the
teenage
market.
Otway
didn't
care.
He
celebrated
his
success
with
an
appearance
on
TV's
biggest
music
show
Top
of
the
Pops.
These
days
John
Otway
continues
to
play
his
music
around
the
country,
and
there
are
always
plenty
of
people
who
are
happy
to
go
and
watch
him
perform.
He's
a
great
example
to
anyone
who
loves
making
music.
You
don't
have
to
be
young,
good?looking
(or
even
very
talented)
to
enjoy
a
long
career
in
the
music
business.
1.From
Paragraph

________.
A.John
Otway
has
released
hundreds
of
albums
B.John
Otway
never
worked
with
best
musicians
C.John
Otway
has
written
hundreds
of
autobiographies
D.John
Otway
is
not
well?known
in
the
UK
as
a
musician
2.John
Otway
saw
his
wish
come
true
when
he
released
________.
A.Really
Free
B.Bunsen
Burner
C.Top
of
the
Pops
D.his
first
record
3.Why
were
some
street
shops
unwilling
to
sell
his
single
Bunsen
Burner?
A.They
thought
it
was
terrible.
B.It
wasn't
a
very
big
hit.
C.John
Otway
didn't
want
them
to
have
it.
D.They
thought
teenagers
would
not
like
to
buy
it.
4.What
can
we
learn
from
the
passage?
A.Musicians
have
to
be
young
and
attractive.
B.Success
isn't
important
in
our
life.
C.We
should
be
determined
to
do
what
we
love.
D.Musicians

as
they

B
I
decided
to
apply
to
the
Nottingham
Summer
School
in
Food
and
Crop
Science
because
I
thought
it
could
help
me
expand
my
knowledge
of
the
industry
and
determine
my
career
path.
Arriving
at
Sutton
Bonington,
despite
being
nervous
I
was
excited
to
involve
myself
in
the
events
organised
and
make
new
friends.
We
were
welcomed
with
lunch
and
team?building
activities
helping
me
feel
instantly
comfortable.
The
first
activity
took
place
in
the
“
superlab”,
an
impressive,
brand?new
laboratory
full
of
modern
equipment
which
we
were
able
to
use
in
experiments.
For
people
planning
to
study
food
science
at
university
it
was
the
perfect
introduction,
providing
continuous
tasters
of
what
the
course
offered.
We
learnt
about
sensory
analysis
and
its
importance
in
food
manufacturing.
Using
specialized
equipment,
we
tested
the
smell
of
an
Oreo
in
relation
to
the
taste
of
it.
Interestingly,
the
taste
and
smell
of
food
was
strengthened
when
it
was
put
into
the
liquid,
so
we
repeated
the
experiment
with
an
Oreo
dunked(浸一浸)
in
milk.
That
day
we
also
took
part
in
the
ice
cream
tasting,
deciding
on
our
favorite
product
and
packaging,
then
the
Skittles
tasting,
attempting
to
establish
flavors
by
looking
at
their
color,
then
using
the
limited
edition
white
Skittles
and
seeing
if
they
were
harder.
One
of
my
favorite
activities
was
the
talk
given
on
insects
and
their
potential
role
in
sustaining
an
alternative
global
protein
source
for
the
future.
We
were
given
the
chance
to
try
some
energy/protein
bars
made
with
“Jimminy's”,
a
new
product,
inspiring
us
to
then
create
our
own
product
and
pitch
our
idea
and
brand
to
the
group.
And
the
best
part
of
the
three
days
was
the
lecture
in
which
a
representative
from
the
Food
and
Drink
Federation
spoke
about
the
food
industry,
followed
by
a
formal
dinner.
I
would
definitely
recommend
attending
if
you
are
considering
it.
I
am
now
certain
I
want
to
pursue
a
nutrition
course
at
university
and
follow
a
career
in
this
industry.
It
has
been
an
enriching
experience
strengthening
my
long?term
goal.

Otway虽然在英国演奏音乐和制作唱片超过40年,但是却没什么名气。John
Otway从事音乐事业以来,虽然名气不大,但是他忠于自己喜爱的事业,并且没有放弃。
1.答案与解析:D 推理判断题。根据第一段中“But
despite
all
of
this,most
people
have
never
heard
of
him.”可知尽管如此,大多数人从未听说过他。由此可知,John
Otway作为音乐家在英国并不出名。故选D。
2.答案与解析:B
细节理解题。根据第三段中“His
fans
went
out
and
bought
as
many
copies
of
the
new
single
Bunsen
Burner
as
they
could.
And
in
October
2002,Otway
finally
saw
his
wish
come
true.”可知他的粉丝们尽可能去多买Bunsen
Burner唱片。2002年10月,Otway的愿望终于实现了。由此可知,当John
Otway发布Bunsen
Burner唱片后,他的愿望实现了。故选B。
3.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Many
high
street
shops
refused
to
sell
the
record,
saying
that
Otway
was
too
old
and
unattractive
for
the
teenage
market.”可知许多商业街的商店拒绝出售这张唱片,说他太老了,对青少年市场没有吸引力。由此可知,一些街头商店不愿意卖他的Bunsen
Burner唱片,是因为他们认为青少年不会愿意买。故选D。

the
three
days
was
