My
husband
and
I
used
to
think
we
had
all
we
had
ever
wanted.
A
beautiful
house,
three
healthy
children
and
one
more
on
the
way,
two
cars,a
couple
of
four?wheelers
for
entertainment—We
really
had
it
all
and
we
loved
it.
Then,
the
market
turned
and
my
husband's
job
at
a
construction
company
was
gone.
The
company
was
closing
down
forever.
We
both
started
looking
for
jobs
right
away,
but
there
weren't
any
to
be
found.
With
each
passing
day
we
were
getting
increasingly
worried
and
we
continued
to
work
together
in
order
to
pull
our
family
through.
The_more_we_pulled_together,the_closer_we_got.
I
felt
feelings
of
admiration
for
my
husband
that
I
hadn't
felt
for
years.
That's
why
it
was
so
hard
for
me
to
watch
him
blame
himself
for
our
present
situation.
I
continually
asked
him
to
stop
but
he
seemed
to
want
to
punish
himself
for
not
having
a
job.
Finally,
one
afternoon
I
pulled
him
aside
and
said,
“We
have
four
healthy
children
and
each
other.
That's
what's
important.That
makes
you
a
rich
man.”
“But
what
if
we
lose
the
house?
They
will
hate
me—you'll
hate
me.”
he
replied.
I
smiled
at
him
and
put
my
hands
on
both
sides
of
his
face
to
make
him
look
me
in
the
eye.
“No
matter
where
we
live
I
will
be
happy—as
long
as
I
have
you,”
I
smiled
again
as
I
realized
that
I
wasn't
just
saying
that.
In
all
the
struggling
together
I
had
found
that
deep
love
for
him
that
I
had
on
the
day
we
said
“I
do”.
I
could
see
his
shoulders
and
neck
relaxed.
He
held
me
close
and
we
were
able
to
talk
and
plan
and
dream
together
in
a
way
that
we
hadn't
for
quite
some
time.
It
was
a
turning
point
for
us
as
a
couple
and
a
family.
We
are
still
struggling
for
our
better
life,
but
I
consider
us
well?off
because
we
have
something
that
money
can't
buy
and
no
one
can
take
away
from
us.
24.We

The
future
of
written
English
will
owe
more
to
Hollywood
films
than
Dickens
or
Shakespeare,
if
the
findings
of
a
study
into
children's
writing
are
anything
to
go
by.
Researchers
who
looked
at
the
entries
to
a
national
competition
found
they
were
increasingly
using
American
words
such
as
garbage,
trash
can,
sidewalk,
candy,
sneakers,
soda,
and
flashlight.
The
stories,
written
by
pupils
aged
7
to
13,
show
how
fairy
cakes
are
referred
to
as
cupcakes
and
a
dinner
jacket
has
become
a
tuxedo.
“Smart”
is
now
often
used
for
“clever”
and
“cranky”
for
“irritable”.
Television
also
has
a
powerful
influence
on
children's
work,
with
Lady
Gaga
and
Argentinean
footballer
Lionel
Messi
among
the
famous
names
from
TV
cropping
up
repeatedly.
But
pupils
are
let
down
by
basic
spelling,
punctuation
and
grammar,
according
to
the
study
by
Oxford
University
Press
(OUP),
which
looked
at
the
entries
to
BBC
Radio
Two's
“500
Words”
competition.
Children
struggled
to
correctly
spell
simple
words
such
as
“does”
and
“clothes”
and
often
failed
to
use
the
past
tense
correctly,
frequently
writing
“rised”
instead
of
“rose”
or
“thinked”
instead
of
“thought”.
Researchers
also
found
that
punctuation
was
underused,
especially
semi?colons
and
speech
marks.
Some
did
not
know
how
to
use
capital
letters.
However,
exclamation
marks
were
overused.
Researchers
found
35,171
examples
in
total,
with
some
young
writers
using
five
at
a
time!
Popular
US
fiction
such
as
the
Twilight
novels
and
films
is
thought
to
be
fueling
the
increasing
use
of
American
vocabulary
and
spelling.
Meanwhile,
fears
that
texting
was
corrupting
children's
written
work
were
unfounded,_they
said,
with
youngsters
only
using
text
language
when
they
were
referring
to
a
text
message.
Samantha
Armstrong
from
OUP
said:“Perhaps
we
are
catching
a
glimpse
of
the
language
of
the
future.”
Chris
Evans,
whose
radio
show
runs
the
competition,
said
the
results
were
“fascinating”,
adding:
“Who'd
have
thought
that
Messi
and
Gaga
would
be
some
of
the
most
used
names?”

was
NOT
frequently
found
in
the
pupils'
stories?

variety
of
Americanisms.
C.Overuse
of
exclamation
marks.
D.Names
of
famous
TV
stars.

can
we
infer
from
the
passage?

Messi
is

the

famous
footballer
in
Britain.

The

The
boys

The

The

Oliver.
He

went
to
the

The

a

he
went

“What?”
said
the

at

in
a
quiet
voice.
“Please,

replied
Oliver,
“I

The
master
hit
Oliver

his

then
seized
him

cried
for
help.
Mr.

rushed
into
the
room,
and
the

told
him
what
Oliver
had
said.“
He

Mr.
Bumble
cried.
“I

it.
One
day
they

took
Oliver
away
and
shut
him
in

Since
I
was
a
kid,
I've
considered
different
job
I
would
like
to
do.
First,
I
wanted
to
be
a
fireman,
whose
uniform
looked
so
coolly.
Then,
when
I
was
in
the
five
grade,
I
wanted
to
be
a
teacher
because
I
liked
my
English
teacher
too
much.
When
I
studied
chemistry
high
school,
I
reconsidered
my
goal
or
decided
to
be
a
doctor.
They
were
two
reasons
for
the
decision.
One
was
that
I
was
amazing
at
the
fact
that
a
sick
person
could
feel
much
more
better
after
seeing
a
doctor.
And
the
other
is
that
I
wanted
to
help
people
in
need.

1.应适当罚款;2.一般来说,人们会从教训中学会遵守规则;3.违章者通常是“惯犯”,提醒他们通常已不再起作用。
注意:
1.信件须包括所有内容要点,可适当增加细节以使行文连贯;
2.词数:不少于100词。
参考词汇:吐痰spit;罚款

I've
considered
different
I
would
like
to
do.
First,
I
wanted
to
be
a
fireman,
whose
uniform
looked
so
.
Then,
when
I
was
in
the
grade,
I
wanted
to
be
a
teacher
because
I
liked
my
English
teacher
much.
When
I
studied
chemistry
high
school,
I
reconsidered
my
goal
decided
to
be
a
doctor.
were
two
reasons
for
the
decision.
One
was
that
I
was
at
the
fact
that
a
sick
person
could
feel
much
better
after
seeing
a
doctor.
And
the
other
that
I
wanted
to
help
people
in
need.
第二节
参考范文:
Dear
Editor,
I'm
writing
to
tell
you
about
the
discussion
we
recently
had
about
how
to
deal
with
bad
behaviors
in
public,
like
smoking
and
spitting.
This
is,
to
remind
or
to
fine.
The
majority
of
us
are
for
reminders.
They
think
that
those
who
have
done
something
wrong
may
not
have
noticed
the
warning
signs.
And
reminders
will
surely
help
them
to
realize
their
mistakes
and
correct
them
willingly.
However,
the
others
think
these
people
should
be
fined
because,
generally
speaking,
people
will
not
learn
to
obey
rules
unless
they
are
taught
a
lesson.
What's
more,
those
who
go
against
the
rules
are
usually
frequent
wrong?doers.
Reminders
won't
work
on
them
any
longer.
Meanwhile
they
suggest
these
people
should
be
fined
properly.
