Prince
Henry
was
born
on
June
28th
in
Greenwich.
Unlike
his
sickly
older
brother
Arthur,
Henry
was
a
healthy
and
athletic
boy.
He
loved
to
play
sports
and
ride
horses.
However,
it
was
Arthur
who,
as
the
oldest
son,
was
being
raised
to
be
king.
Henry
was
being
raised
to
enter
the
church.
He
received
an
excellent
education
and
learned
how
to
speak
Latin,
French,
Spanish,
and
Greek.
When
Henry
was
ten
years
old,
his
life
was
greatly
changed.
His
older
brother
Arthur
died
and
Henry
was
named
the
crown
prince
(皇储).
He
would
be
the
next
king
of
England.
In
1509,
when
Henry
was
seventeen
years
old,
his
father
Henry

died.
Henry
decided
at
that
point
to
marry
his
brother's
former
wife,
Catherine.
They
quickly
married
and
then
were
crowned
king
and
queen
of
England.
Catherine
only
gave
birth
to
one
healthy
baby,
Princess
Mary.
Henry
became
worried
that
he
would
never
have
a
male
heir
(继承人).
Later,
he
fell
in
love
with
another
woman,
Anne
Boleyn.
Henry
was
determined
to
marry
her
and
did
so
in
1533.
He
was
also
determined
to
have
a
male
heir.
But
Anne
Boleyn
did
not
have
a
son.
Then
he
married
Jane
Seymour.
Henry
finally
got
what
he
wanted
and
had
a
son
named
Edward.
HenryⅧ
is
often
described
as
a
true
Renaissance
Man.
He
was
athletic,
good
looking,
intelligent,
and
educated.
He
was
also
an
accomplished
musician
and
he
played
instruments
and
wrote
his
own
songs.
He
spoke
many
languages
fluently
and
loved
to
read
and
study.
Henry
loved
art
and
culture
and
brought
many
of
the
top
artists,
writers,
and
philosophers
from
mainland
Europe
to
his
court.
Henry
suffered
a
leg
wound
in
an
accident
in
1536.
As
a
result,
he
found
it
difficult
to
move
about.
He
became
extremely
overweight
and
his
skin
was
covered
with
painful
infections.
He
died
at
the
age
of
55
in
1547
and
was
succeeded
by
his
son
Edward
who
became
King
Edward
Ⅵ.
24.Why
was
Henry
named
the
crown
prince?
A.Because
he
was
the
eldest
son.
B.Because
the
king
lost
the
crown
prince.
C.Because
he
was
considered
a
better
choice.
D.Because
he
received
an
excellent
education.
25.What
most
probably
caused
Henry

to
marry
Jane
Seymour?
A.Having
no
child
of
his
own.
B.Madly
falling
in
love
with
her.
C.Wanting
a
son
to
be
the
next
king.
D.Not
being
allowed
to
marry
Anne
Boleyn.
26.What
does
Paragraph
4
mainly
tell
us
about
Henry
Ⅷ?
A.He
loved
learning
languages.
B.He
wasn't
interested
in
being
king.
C.He
can
really
be
called
a
Renaissance
Man.
D.He
had
many
accomplishments
because
of
the
Renaissance.
27.What
do
we
know
about
Henry
Ⅷ?
A.He
suffered
a
lot
in
his
last
years.
B.He
wasn't
considered
a
good
king.
C.He
just
loved
one
woman
in
his
life.
D.He
was

Seining
for
Minnows
There
was
a
time
when
hot
summer
days
brought
children
outdoors
to
local
rivers
and
streambeds
to
seine
(拖拉大网围)
for
minnows.
Catching
the
small,
silver
fish
was
a
fun,
refreshing
opportunity
to
walk
in
cool,
rushing
water
on
a
hot
summer's
day.
Girls
as
well
as
boys
loved
this
outdoor
activity.
The
joy
of
seining
for
minnows
is
that,
once
caught,
the
fish
are
thrown
back
into
the
water
to
continue
their
natural
lives,
perhaps
to
be
scooped_up
by
other
children
and
then
returned
again
to
their
watery
home.
So
the
net
is
swiftly
lowered
back
into
the
stream,
and
the
small
fish
swim
off.
Then
the
whole
process
is
repeated
once
more
as
more
minnows
are
gathered
and
then
released.
The
small
silver
fish
that
children
call
minnows
are
really
any
small
fish,
regardless
of
species.
Fish
called
minnows
actually
belong
to
the
cyprinidae
family
(鲤科)
of
fish.
Members
of
the
cyprinidae
family
can
be
found
in
lakes
and
streams
throughout
the
United
States
and
much
of
the
world.
Minnows
often
serve
as
primary
consumers
in
a
streambed,
sometimes
as
bottom
feeders
to
eat
algae
(藻类植物).
Others,
as
secondary
consumers,
take
in
zooplankton,
crustaceans,
insects,
worms,
and
other
minnows.
Some
become
food
for
other
consumers,
being
the
prey
(被猎食者)
of
birds,
mammals,
and
other
fish.
Those
of
a
larger
size
are
used
as
bait
(饵)
for
sport
fishing.
Still
others
are
used
as
food
additives
in
livestock
feeds.
Their
role
as
prey
and
their
use
as
bait
and
food
additives
are
not
the
only
dangers
that
minnows
face
in
the
world
today.
The
child
who
goes
out
to
seine
for
minnows
on
a
summer's
day
now
will
find
fewer
shining
fish
in
the
net
when
it
is
lifted
out
of
the
stream.
The
destruction
(破坏)
and
change
of
minnows'
habitat
due
to
land
treatment
and
watercourse
alteration
threaten
the
future
of
this
beautiful,
strong
family
of
fish.
If
the
children
of
tomorrow
are
to
have
the
joy
of
seining
for
minnows
on
a
hot
summer's
day,
the
natural
habitats
of
our
lakes
and
streams
must
be
preserved.
28.Which
of
the
following

up”
in
Paragraph
2?
A.Caught.

can
we
infer
from
the
fourth
paragraph?
A.Minnows
have
little
commercial
value.

are
mainly
used
as
livestock
food.
C.Minnows
consume
lots
of
other
fish
each
day.
D.Minnows
play
an
important
role
in
the
food
chain.

loss.

give
an
introduction
to
minnows.

The
British
Government
has
decided
to
spend£1.5
million
translating
the
complete
works
of
Shakespeare
into
Chinese.
The
project
will
be
delivered
by
the
Royal
Shakespeare
Company,
who
has
also
received
government
funding
for
a
tour
of
China.
The
plays
and
poetry
of
William
Shakespeare
are
arguably
England's
greatest
cultural
treasure.
Every
schoolchild
studies
his
work,
and
he
is
considered
to
be
the
greatest
Englishman
to
ever
use
a
pen.
Until
the
20th
century
though,
Shakespeare
was
almost
unknown
in
China.
The
new
translations
and
accompanying
tour
will
bring
Shakespeare
to
a
wider
audience
in
China.
What,
though,
do
those
from
the
land
of
Shakespeare's
birth
feel
about
their
government
sponsoring
this
project?
Only
a
very
few
were
angry
about
this
use
of
taxpayers'
money,
with
most
expressing
pride
that“their”
playwright
(剧作家)
was
to
be
presented
again
in
the
world's
most
spoken
language.
However,
there
are
some
huge
challenges
involved
in
translating
Shakespeare
into
Chinese.
The
first
translations
of
Shakespeare
into
Chinese
were
by
Lin
Shu
(1852~1924).
They
were
not
direct
translations,
but
taken
from
a
children's
book
of
prose
(散文)
adaptations
of
Shakespeare's
stories.
The
first
Chinese
encounters
(相遇)
with
Shakespeare
were
therefore
not
with
the
verse
(韵文)
of
his
plays
but
the
stories
and
characters
in
a
simplified
format.
The
influence
of
Shakespeare's
storylines
has
definitely
been
greater
than
that
of
his
language.
Shakespeare's
language
does
not
easily
submit
to
translation.
Many
of
the
words,
figures
of
speech
and
references
are
too
archaic
(古体的)
to
be
understood
even
by
native
English
speakers.
Much
of
Shakespeare
is
written
in
verse
limited
by
rhythm
and
rhyme.
This
is
particularly
difficult
when
translating
into
Chinese.
Besides,
Shakespeare's“History
Plays”
present
a
different
challenge
to
the
Chinese
translator.
As
dramatizations
of
real
historical
events,
these
plays
require
the
translator
to
have
a
thorough
knowledge
of
British
history.
Meanwhile,
Shakespeare's
comedic
moments
are
often
based
on
puns
(双关语).
These
are
really
difficult
to
translate
directly.
32.What
can
we
learn
about
the
complete
works
of
Shakespeare?
A.They
mainly
focus
on
British
history.
B.They
are
worth
about
£1.5
million.
C.They
will
all
be
adapted
for
plays.
D.They
will
be
shared
more
widely.
33.How
do
most
people
from
Shakespeare's
homeland
feel
about
the
government's
decision?
A.Upset.
B.Worried.
C.Uncaring.
D.Favorable.
34.What
were
the
first
Chinese
translations
of
Shakespeare
based
on?
A.Original
plays.
B.Incomplete
editions.
C.Simplified
stories.
D.Orally
told
stories.
35.The
last
two
paragraphs
mainly
tell
us
translating
Shakespeare
into
Chinese
________.
A.is
no
easy
task
B.is
a
waste
of

C.is

It's

Let's

That's
as
cheap
as
it

W:
All

I'll

Can

W:
All

Would
you

anything

M:
No,
thanks.
We've

M:
That's

M:
Here's
twenty

Keep

W:

Text

M:
So,
are
you
enjoying
the
performance?
W:
Well,
the
costumes
and
the
sets
are
splendid,
but
the
acting
is
a
bit
stiff.
What
do
you
think?
M:
I
think
you
are
being
a
little
critical.
The
actor
in
the
lead
role
is
fantastic.
I
suppose
the
chorus
could
be
a
little
better,
though.
W:
Do
you
know
anyone
in
the
play?
M:
Actually,
the
woman
playing
Ophelia
is
a
past
classmate
of
mine.
W:
Really?
Is
that
why
you
wanted
to
come
to
the
play?
M:
That's
only
part
of
it.
I
absolutely
adore
the
director.
Every
play
he
works
on
turns
out
great.
W:
So
you've
seen
other
plays
that
he's
directed?
M:
Quite
a
few
actually.
By
the
way,
after
the
play,
there's
always
a
big
party
for
the
cast
and
their
friends.
My
friend

us.
Do
you
want

W:
Sure,
I'd
love

W:

many

go

Yunnan
Nationalities
Villages
at
first
when
they
come
to
Yunnan
for
the
first
time.
W:
Why
do
they
go
there?
M:
Because
26
kinds
of
minority
peoples
live
there,
and
the
arts
and
handicrafts
of
minority
peoples
are
splendid
indeed.
W:
I
think
that
will
be
interesting.
M:
And
you
can
buy
some
souvenirs
there.
W:
Which
is
the
second
place
we
should

M:
It'll
be
the
Dian

Western

We
can
go

on
the
Dian

by
boat,
and
at

we
can

the

to
the

some

M:
Of

if
I

W:
Well,
last

W:
Well,
some

of

my

my

and
some

M:
Well,
if
I
were
you,
I'd
go
to
the
police
station
straight
away
and

W:
Yes,
I've
already
done
that,
and
they
said
they'd
look
for

But
we're
leaving
soon
and
I
need
my
visa
and
identity
card
badly.
M:
Oh
dear!What
a
pity!Are
you
sure
you
lost
the
wallet
in
the
theatre?
W:
Yes,quite
sure.
M:
I
think
you
should
put
an
advertisement
in
a
newspaper,saying
when
and
where
you
lost
it.
W:
But
that
takes
too
long.
M:
Wait
a
minute!
My
uncle
lives
in
Beijing
and
he
lives
very
close
to
the
theatre.
I'll
telephone
him
and
ask
him
to
go
there
to
inquire
about
it.
You'd
better
have
breakfast
now
and
I'll
meet
you
later.
W:
Oh,
thank
you.
I
hope
he
will
find
it.

When
Jackie
Robinson
walked
onto
Ebbets
Field
in
Brooklyn,
New
York,
on
April
15,
1947,
he
changed
baseball
forever.
As
the
first
African
American
to
play
in
the
Major
League
in
modern
times,
many
believe
he
changed
the
country
forever.
Robinson
was
born
in
1919.
He
lived
in
a
time
when
rules
controlled
what
African
Americans
could
do.
He
was
a
top
athlete,
playing
football,
basketball
and
baseball.
But
playing
for
a
Major
League
team
was
off
limits
to
Robinson
because
of
his
race.
Branch
Rickey,
president
and
manager
of
the
Brooklyn
Dodgers,
signed
Robinson
in
1947.
He
believed
that
Robinson
not
only
had
the
skills,
but
the
courage
to
face
the
challenge
of
becoming
modern
baseball's
first
black
player.
It
wasn't
easy.
Robinson
sometimes
faced
shouts
of
laugh
and
disapproval
from
fans.
But
he
became
a
star,
anyway.
In
1962,
he
became
the
first
African?American
player
chosen
to
enter
the
Baseball
Hall
of
Fame.
In
2005,
he
was
awarded
a
Congressional
Gold
Medal,
the
highest
award
Congress
can
give
to
an
American.
By
breaking
baseball's
color
barrier,
Robinson
opened
the
door
for
many
to
follow
his
footsteps,
not
only
in
baseball,
but
in
other
areas
of
life
as
well.
After
he
stopped
playing
the
game,
Robinson
worked
as
a
manager
for
a
coffee
company.
He
wrote
a
newspaper
column.
He
also
started
a
bank.
