I have returned to my home town of Wilson Creek after an absence (缺席) of 10 years. So many things have changed around here. When I left Wilson Creek, there was a small lake in the southeast of the town. They have filled in the lake and built a large shopping centre and a swimming pool (游泳池) there. They have also built a new post office just across from my old school.

When I was little, my grandma often told me I was “flexin' in my complexion” when I smiled. I think it was a way of saying that she was happy I was comfortable in my skin (皮肤). Once when I was in first grade, my teacher asked all the kids in the class to draw ourselves. She handed me a black crayon, but I asked her if I could have a brown one. The kids laughed.
