B.The

C.The

D.The

B
A
serious
problem
for
today's
society
is
who
should
be
responsible
for
our
elderly
and
how
to
improve
their
lives.
It
is
not
only
a
financial
problem
but
also
a
question
of
the
system
we
want
for
our
society.
I
would
like
to
suggest
several
possible
solutions
to
this
problem.
First,
employers
should
take
the
responsibility
for
their
retired
employees.
To
make
this
possible,
a
percentage
of
profits
should
be
set
aside
for
this
purpose.
But
when
a
company
must
take
life?long
responsibility
for
its
employees,
it
may
suffer
from
a
commercial
disadvantage
due
to
higher
employee
costs.
Another
way
of
solving
the
problem
is
to
return
the
responsibility
to
the
individual.
This
means
each
person
must
save
during
his
working
years
to
pay
for
his
years
of
retirement.
This
does
not
seem
a
very
fair
model
since
some
people
have
enough
trouble
paying
for
their
daily
life
without
trying
to
earn
extra
to
cover
their
retirement
years.
This
means
the
government
might
have
to
step
in
to
care
for
the
poor.
In
addition,the
government
could
take
responsibility
for
the
care
of
the
elderly.
This
could
be
financed
through
government
taxes
to
increase
the
level
of
pensions.
Furthermore,
some
institutions
should
be
created
for
senior
citizens,
which
can
help
provide
a
comfortable
life
for
them.
Unfortunately,
as
the
present
situation
in
our
country
shows,
this
is
not
a
truly
viable
answer.
The
government
can
seldom
afford
to
care
for
the
elderly,
particularly
when
it
is
busy
trying
to
care
for
the
young.
One
further
solution
is
that
the
government
or
social
organizations
establish
some
working
places
especially
for
the
elderly
where
they
are
independent.
To
sum
up,
all
these
options
have
advantages
and
disadvantages.
Therefore,
it
is
reasonable
to
expect
that
some
combination
of
these
options
may
be
needed
to
provide
the
care
we
hope
to
give
to
our
elderly
generations.
4.What
is
the
writer's
main
purpose
in
writing
this
article?
A.To
discuss
some
possible
solutions
to
an
important
social
problem.
B.To
make
general
readers
aware
of
the
problems
of
retired
people.
C.To
point
out
the
need
for
government
support
for
old
people.
D.To
instruct
retired
people
on
how
they
can
have
a
happier
life.
5.What
does
the
underlined
word
“viable”
in
Paragraph
4
most
probably
mean?
A.Impossible.
B.Practical.
C.Useful.
D.Successful.
6.According
to
the
passage,
how
can
the
government
help
to
improve
the
lives
of
retired
people?
A.Set
aside
some
profits
to
help
people
with
problems
after
they
retire.
B.Increase
savings
levels
of
people
during
their
working
years.
C.Increase
the
discounts
for
food
and
transport
for
the
old.
D.Make
available
pensions
for
those
who
have
retired.
7.What
can
be
concluded
from
the
passage?
A.Taking
care
of
the
old
is
mainly
an
issue
of
money.
B.Employers
should
allow
their
workers
to
retire
at
a
later
age.
C.There
is
no
single
solution
to
the
problems
of
the
old.
D.Becoming
independent
should
be
the
goal
of
most
old
people.
Ⅱ.七选五
Music
is
often
targeted
at
teenagers.
Because
teenagers
go
through
big
changes
and
start
making
life?affecting
decisions
in
their
teens,
people
naturally
wonder
what
effects
music
has
on
teenagers.
Does
it
lead
to
violence?
Help
test
scores?
Teach
them
valuable
lessons?
__1__
Music
can
help
students
improve
academic
performance.
Studying
music
involves
math
and
science,
so
students
often
improve
in
these
areas.
__2__
According
to
a
report,
students
who
took
part
in
music
performance
scored
41
points
higher
in
math
than
those
who
did
not
take
part
in
music
performance.
Being
a
teenager
can
be
rough
emotionally.
Music
is
an
especially
emotional
art
form
covering
every
type
of
emotion.
__3__
As
music
is
a
way
to
express
emotions,
many
teenagers
might
try
to
make
their
own
music,
which
can
create
healthy
emotional
expression.
__4__
Thus,
listening
to
music
can
teach
teenagers
a
lot
about
their
own
culture
and
other
cultures.
They
can
learn
musical
traditions,
musical
instruments,
history
lessons
and
more.
Plus,
as
listening
to
music
is
a
fun
activity,
this
can
often
be
a
more
interesting
way
to
learn
about
a
culture,
rather
than
simply
reading
a
textbook.
Music
tastes
and
interests
can
often
bring
people
together,
especially
teenagers.__5__
As
well,
music
is
often
enjoyed
at
concerts
and
dance
clubs
where
teenagers
often
hang
out.
Typically,
the
people
attending
these
concerts
and
dance
clubs
already
share
a
common
interest,
so
a
connection
can
be
easily
made.
A.Music
is
often
related
with
culture.
B.This
improvement
can
benefit
them
in
tests.
C.Music
greatly
improves
teenagers,
learning
abilities.
D.While
there
are
negative
effects,
there
are
many
positive
effects,
too.
E.If
they
can
find
a
song
that
matches
their
mood,
they
will
feel
comfortable.
F.Rap
music
presents
a
new
vocabulary
teenagers
won't
learn
in
an
English
class.
G.Two
teenagers
who
like
the
same
style
of
music
are
easily
to
start
up
a
friendship.

page
to
reply
to
questions
dealing
with
personal
and
moral
questions.”该杂志设置了个人建议专栏,专门用于回复解决读者的个人问题等,即杂志会向读者提供对应的建议。故选D。
3.答案与解析:B 细节理解题。文章倒数第四段提到“but
we
also
know
how
much
they
enjoy
holding
a
printed
magazine
in
their
hands”该杂志社知道读者手里握着纸质版杂志时喜悦的心情,由此判断该杂志是纸质版的,故A项错误。倒数第三段提到“An
annual
subscription
costs
just
£20
and
makes
a
great
gift
for
any
child
aged
eight
to
twelve.”该杂志一年的费用是20英镑而不是一本20英镑,且订阅杂志后会赠送礼物给8~12岁的儿童,由此判断该杂志是供学龄儿童使用的,故C、D项错误。第一段第一句“Pastime
is
a
bi?monthly
magazine
for
curious
young
minds”和subscription部分提到“Pastime
is
published
six
times
a
year.”该杂志一年发行6次,由此判断该杂志是双月刊,即每两个月发行一次。故选B。
B
【语篇解读】 本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了社会养老问题,并就如何提高老人的生活质量提出了一些建议。
4.答案与解析:A 推理判断题。整个文章是总分结构,文章首段提出问题:A
serious
problem
for
today’s
society
is
who
should
be
responsible
for
our
elderly
and
how
to
improve
their
lives.然后后面段落给出一些改善老人生活的建议,故可以推断出,作者写此文目的是为了讨论一些重要社会问题的可能解决办法。故选A。
5.答案与解析:B 词义猜测题。根据第四段最后一句The
government
can
seldom
afford
to
care
for
the
elderly,
particularly
when
it
is
busy
trying
to
care
for
the
young.可知,由政府忙于照顾小的,没有资金照顾老人,所以这措施是行不通的,没有可操作性。从而可以猜测viable为“可行的”之意。故选B。
6.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据文章第四段“...through
government
taxes
to
increase
the
level
of
pensions...which
can
help
provide
a
comfortable
life
for
them.通过政府税收来提高养老金水平……这有助于为他们提供舒适的生活。”可知政府应该通过税收来提高退休人员的养老金,以保障老人们的生活,结合选项,故选D。
7.答案与解析:C 综合归纳题。文章结合四种解决老年人的问题的办法,最后又指出:“Therefore,
it
is
reasonable
to
expect
that
some
combination
of
these
options
may
be
needed
to
provide
the
care
we
hope
to
give
to
our
elderly
generations.因此,我们有理由期望,这些选择可能需要一些组合,以提供我们希望给予老年一代的照顾”由此可推知,没有一种单一的方法能够解决老年人的问题;故选C。

5.________

it's

Ⅱ.阅读理解
There
is
more
of
a
connection
between
food
and
culture
than
you
may
think.
On
an
individual
level,
we
grow
up
eating
the
food
of
our
culture.
It
becomes
a
part
of
who
we
are.
Many
associate
food
from
our
childhood
with
warm
feelings
and
good
memories
and
it
ties
us
to
our
families,
holding
a
special
and
personal
value
for
us.
Food
from
our
family
often
becomes
the
comfort
food
we
seek
as
adults
in
times
of
frustration
and
stress.
On
a
large
scale,
traditional
food
is
an
important
part
of
culture.
It
also
operates
as
an
expression
of
culture
identity.
Immigrants
bring
it
wherever
they
go,
and
it
is
a
symbol
of
pride
for
their
culture
and
means
of
coping
with
homesickness.
Many
immigrants
open
their
own
restaurants
and
serve
traditional
dishes.
However,
the
food
does
not
remain
exactly
the
same.
Some
materials
needed
to
make
traditional
dishes
may
not
be
readily
available,
so
the
taste
and
flavor
can
be
different
from
what
they
would
prepare
in
their
home
countries.
Additionally,
immigrants
do
not
only
sell
dishes
to
people
from
the
same
countries
as
them,
but
to
people
from
different
countries.
Therefore,
they
have
to
make
small
changes
about
the
original
dishes
to
cater
to
a
wider
range
of
customers.
Those
changes
can
create
new
flavors
that
still
keep
the
cultural
significance
of
the
dishes.
We
should
embrace
our
heritage
(传统)
through
our
culture's
food
but
also
become
more
informed
about
other
cultures
by
trying
their
food.
It
is
important
to
remember
that
each
dish
has
a
special
place
in
the
culture
to
which
it
belongs,
and
is
special
to
those
who
prepare
it.
Food
is
a
window
into
culture,
and
it
should
be
treated
as
such.
1.What's
the
function
of
food
mentioned
in
the
article?
A.To
help
motivate
homesickness.
B.To
show
national
identity.
C.To
reflect
a
country's
history.
D.To
show
a
community's
superiority.
2.What
does
the
underlined
“it”in
Paragraph
2
refer
to?
A.The
specific
traditional
food.
B.The
national
culture.
C.A
traditional
expression
of
food.
D.The
old?fashioned
taste.
3.Why
do
some
immigrants
have
to
change
the
original
dishes
in
their
restaurant?
A.To
attach
cultural
importance
to
their
dishes.
B.To
announce
the
beginning
of
their
life
on
foreign
soil.
C.To
make
the
dishes
popular
among
customers.
D.To
present
their
own
food
culture
in
a
new
way.
4.What's
the
author's
attitude
towards
different
food
cultures?
A.Negative.
B.Balanced.
C.Unfair.
D.Unchangeable.

2.答案与解析:B 根据前文On
the
other
hand,
there
are
also
words
that
become
outdated.(另一方面,有些词也会过时。)可推测本句说明一些词过时的结果。结果就是这些单词被从字典中删除。故B选项“结果,单词就从字典中删除了。”符合上下文语境。故选B。
3.答案与解析:D 根据前文Who
decides
which
words
to
delete?(谁来决定删除哪些单词?)上文提出问题,故本空应是对上文谁决定删除那些单词的回答。故D选项“词典的最终决定权在编辑手中。”符合上下文语境。故选D。

Ⅱ.阅读理解
A
According
to
some
researchers,
you
should
not
praise
children
for
everything
that
they
do.
It
does
not
help
them
build
self?confidence.
Most
parents
and
teachers
agree
that
praise
can
help
increase
children's
self?confidence—the
more,
the
better.
However,
according
to
some
researchers,
only
proper
praise
is
good
for
children.
If
adults
praise
everything
children
do,
it
makes
children
look
for
praise
all
the
time,
not
trying
to
do
their
best.
“Teachers
should
not
say
things
like
‘good
job’
or
‘nice
work’
whenever
a
child
does
anything.
They
should
encourage
them
to
continue
to
improve,”
some
researchers
advise.
Another
idea
is
that
children
with
high
self?confidence
are
happier,
and
do
better
at
school.
About
this,
Marshall
Duke,
a
researcher
in
children,
says,
“High
self?confidence
brought
in
by
too
much
praise
does
not
make
children
happier,
get
more,
or
become
able
to
do
more.
Finding
a
child's
advantages
and
developing
them
can
help
build
confidence
more
than
too
much
praise
can.”
Praise
also
loses
its
effect
if
it
is
given
equally
to
all
students.
“It's
important
to
tell
children
the
truth
about
what
they've
done.
Honest
feedback
is
far
better
than
empty
praise,”
Duke
adds.
“People
have
got
into
the
habit
of
not
telling
children
when
they're
wrong.
That
makes
it
hard
for
them
to
deal
with
difficulties
when
they
grow
up.
That's
just
how
the
world
is.”
1.According
to
some
researchers,
if
parents
praise
their
children
too
much,
their
children
will
________.
A.become
strong
B.increase
self?confidence
C.do
better
in
their
studies
D.always
look
for
praise
2.In
order
to
help
children
build
self?confidence,
some
researchers
advise
teachers
to
________.
A.make
them
live
more
happily
B.let
them
do
more
difficult
work
C.encourage
them
to
improve
D.help
them
do
better
in
school
3.Which
of
the
following
is
TRUE,
according
to
the
passage?
A.Praise
makes
children
become
successful.
B.The
same
praise
for
all
children
has
no
meaning.
C.Children
don't
know
what
they're
really
good
at.
D.Duke
thinks
praise
is
more
important
than
finding
children's
strengths.
4.What
is
the
last
paragraph
about?
A.What
children
with
high
self?confidence
are
like.
B.It's
important
to
have
the
habit
of
praising
children.
C.Children
should
know
their
mistakes
as
soon
as
possible.
D.We
should
praise
children

and

their

Two
weeks
ago,
a
5?year?old
girl
named
Sunshine
Oelfke
emptied
out
her
piggy
bank(存钱罐)onto
the
living
room
floor
and
immediately
started
counting.
Her
grandmother,
Jackie
Oelfke,
thought
she
was
playing
as
she
carefully
lined
up
the
coins,
but
then
she
saw
the
girl
put
the
coins
into
a
plastic
bag
and
place
it
in
her
backpack.
“That
aroused
my
curiosity,”
Jackie
told
CBS
News.
“Nobody
messes
with
the
piggy
bank.”
After
observing
Sunshine
at
work
a
few
minutes
longer,
Jackie
decided
to
find
out
why
the
little
girl
broke
into
her
savings.
“What
are
you
doing
with
that
money?”
Jackie
asked
her
granddaughter.
“I'm
taking
it
to
school,”
Sunshine
replied.
The
little
girl
finally
stated
the
real
reason
why
she
needed
the
money.
“I'm
going
to
take
it
for
milk
money.
My
friend
Layla
doesn't
get
milk—her
mom
doesn't
have
milk
money
and
I
do.”
Jackie's
heart
melted
at
Sunshine's
words.
Choked
with
strong
feelings,
Jackie
held
her
sweet
granddaughter
tightly
in
her
arms.
Last
week,
Jackie
and
Sunshine
met
with
her
teacher,
Rita
Hausher,
and
handed
her

There

total
adds

to

After
dropping
Sunshine
off
at
school,
Jackie
posted
a
tearful
video
on
Facebook
to
explain
her
granddaughter's
plan.
To
her
surprise,
dozens
of
people
offered
to
donate
toward
the
cause.
Within
a
week,
Jackie
raised
more
than
﹩1,000.
Now
every
student
in
Sunshine's
class
can
get
free
milk
for
the
rest
of
the
year.
Jackie
said
Sunshine
doesn't
see
her
kind
act
as
a
big
deal.
She
was
just
trying
to
look
out
for
her
friends.
“She

understand

she's

about,”
Jackie
said.
“But
