In China, Tree Planting Day is on March 12. This special day began in 1979. On that day, people often plant many trees. In different countries, Tree Planting Days are on different days. In India, it is on July 1, and in Australia, it is on the last Sunday in July.
Why do the people plant trees? Because they want to protect（保护） the environment(环境). Trees make our city beautiful and they can cool the air. People also can get fruit and wood from trees. But there are many people cut down trees to earn some money(挣钱). More and more trees are lost. As a result, many birds and animals lost their homes and food.
