Pingyao,
in
the
centre
of
Shanxi
Province,
is
a
famous
historic
cultural
city
of
China
and
a
world
cultural
heritage
site.
It’s
90
kilometres
south
of
Taiyuan
on
the
Fen
River.
People
lived
in
Pingyao
during
the
New
Stone
Age.
Its
long
period
as
a
county
government
seat
has
left
Pingyao
with
lots
of
historic
buildings
and
sites,
with
a
2,700-year
history.
Ninety-nine
of
them
are
under
government
protection,
including
Zhengguo
Temple,
Shuanglin
Temple
and
Ancient
City
of
Pingyao.
During
the
Ming
and
Qing
Dynasties,
businessmen
organised
commercial(商业的)
groups
that
did
business
nationwide.
Shanxi
Province
had
some
of
the
most
important
ones
and
Pingyao
was
their
centre.
In
1823,
a
store,
known
as
Rishengchang
(Sunrise
Prosperity),
traded
in
bank
checks
rather
than
in
silver
or
gold
coins.
It
was
the
beginning
of
modern
Chinese
banking.
Branch(分支)
banks
were
soon
set
up
in
major
cities
in
China
and
other
parts
of
Asia,
leading
to
great
development
in
Pingyao.
Its
lacquerware(漆器)
became
well
known.
In
Pingyao
Ancient
City
are
many
traditional
houses
and
commercial
buildings,
3,797
of
which
are
protected
and
more
than
400
of
which
are
in
good
condition.
Not
only
do
the
houses
in
Pingyao
show
Shanxi’s
history
and
culture,
but
they
are
also
valuable
for
studying
its
history,
customs,
ancient
buildings
and
art.
Most
of
these
houses
are
still
used
as
homes
and
shops
of
local
people.
In
1997,
Pingyao
Ancient
City
was
listed
in
the
World
Heritage
List
as
a“World
Cultural
Heritage
Site”.
1.
What

Historic
buildings
and
sites.
B.
The
three
temples.
C.
The
county

in
.?
A.
agriculture
B.

答案:C
B
Thousands
of
years
ago,
in
the
south
of
ancient
China,
there
lived
Shennong,
a
man
who
had
an
ox(牛)
head
and
a
human
body.
Seeing
that
local
people
were
suffering
from
disease,
he
built
ladders
and
houses
on
a
high
mountain
to
store
hundreds
of
medical
plants.
To
remember
him,
people
named
the
place
Shennongjia.
The
legend(传说)
makes
Shennongjia
in
Hubei
an
inviting
place
for
tourists.
Travelling
there
is
a
unique
experience,
as
you
can
see
sceneries
of
the
four
seasons
from
different
altitudes.
“When
the
bottom
of
the
mountain
is
summer,
the
top
is
spring
and
while
the
foothill
is
autumn,
the
top
is
covered
with
ice,”
local
people
say
of
the
special
climate
of
Shennongjia.
Shennongjia
is
also
home
to
5,000
species
of
animals
and
plants.
Many
animals
in
danger
live
there,
such
as
the
golden
monkey,
the
clouded
leopard
and
the
Asian
black
bear.
One
interesting
and
mysterious
thing
about
Shennongjia
is
its
legend
of
wild
men.
Some
people
once
claimed
that
they
saw
big
footprints
or
big-foot
creatures.
Yet
so
far,
scientists
haven’t
proved
it
and
some
say
they
are
just
bears.
The
beautiful
place
has
received
a
new
title.
On
July
17,
2016,
Shennongjia
Forestry
District
was
added
to
the
United
Nations
World
Heritage
List
as
a
natural
site.
4.
Which
of
the
following
is
right
about
Shennong?
A.
Shennong
had
an
ox
body.
B.
Shennong
grew
medical
plants
for
people.
C.
Shennong
helped
the
local
people.
D.
Shennong
named
the
place
Shennongjia.
解析:推理判断题。通读原文第一段可知神农有一个牛头,而不是牛身;神农储存了一些给人治病用的植物,而不是种植这些植物;后来的人们为了纪念神农,把这个地方命名为神农架,而不是神农给这个地方起的名字,故A、B和D三项说法都是错误的;只有C项说法“神农帮助当地人”正确。故选C项。
答案:C
5.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“title”
mean
in
Paragraph
5?
A.
标题
B.
景点
C.
称号
D.

解析:词义猜测题。根据第五段中的“Shennongjia
Forestry
District
was
added
to
the
United
Nations
World
Heritage
List
as
a
natural
site”可知,神农架林业区被列入联合国世界自然遗产名录。故判断画线词所在句意为:这个美丽的地方获得了一个新的称号,可猜测画线词意为“称号”。故选C项。
答案:C
6.

Officials
from
Guangxi
in
the
south
of
China
are
looking
for
ways
to
attract
more
tourists
from
Mexico.
Earlier
this
week,
Li
Bin,
vice
chairman
of
Guangxi,
visited
Mexico
City
and
spoke
about
Guangxi’s
growing
tourism
industry
and
the
government’s

natural—found
in
Guangxi,”
Li
said
in
a
presentation
which
was
also
attended

Guangxi’s
rich
natural
attractions
and
cultural
heritage
make
it
a
popular
tourism
place
for
both
Chinese
and
foreigners,
Li
said.
Guangxi’s
top
attractions
include
the
famous
Karst
Mountains
and
Caves
in
the
riverside
city
of
Guilin,
a
UNESCO-listed
World

Ambassador
Qiu
also
praised
the
beauty
of
Guangxi.
“I’ve
been
in
Mexico
five
years.
Many
friends
know
me,
but
very
few
know
that
I
am
from
Guangxi,”
Qiu
said.
“I
am
going
to
do
everything
possible
so
that
my
birthplace
becomes
a
place
that
helps
develop
the
tourism
and
the
human
relations
between
our
two
countries,”
Qiu
added.
In
2017,
520
million
tourists
visited
Guangxi,
including
5
million
foreign
visitors.
7.
What’s
the
Karst
Mountains
and
Caves
known
for?
A.
Its
unique
waterfall.
B.
Its
long
history.
C.

Some
people
describe
American
society
as
a
salad
bowl
while
others
think
of
it
as
a
melting
pot.
In
a
bowl
of
salad,
all
the
ingredients(配料)
are
mixed
together.
10
Together,
however,
the
ingredients
make
up
a
unity.
All
the
ingredients
of
a
salad
contribute
to
the
finished
product.
They
may
be
covered
with
the
same
dressing,
but
the
green
vegetables,
tomatoes
and
cooked
corn
can
all
be
seen
for
what
they
are.?
From
this
point
of
view,
America
is
very
much
like
a
salad
bowl
where
individual
ethnic(种族的)groups
mix
together,
yet
maintain
their
cultural
uniqueness.
People
may
work
together
during
the
day
at
similar
jobs
and
in
the
same
companies,
but
at
night
they
may
return
to
their
ethnic
groups
where
their
own
individual
culture
directs
their
way
of
life.
11 ?
12
Here,
society
is
like
one
large
pot
of
soup.
All
cultural
aspects
are
mixed
together,
sacrificing
their
original
identity
and
keeping
a
bit
of
what
they
were
to
become
a
new
reality.
The
longer
the
soup
is
cooked,
the
better
the
taste
and
the
more
likely
it
will
be
for
the
mixture
to
dissolve.
In
this
sense,
America
can
surely
be
seen
as
a
melting
pot
where
people
from
all
over
the
world
come
to
live
and
work
together
forming
one
nation.
There
are
dozens
of
shared
symbols.
13
In
such
a
culture,
symbols
like
the
flag
and
the
nation’s
official
song
serve
to
break
down
the
walls
which
separate
ethnic
groups.?
Whether
a
salad
bowl
or
a
melting
pot,
America
can
be
best
described
as
a
mixture
of
both.
14 ?
A.
Both
are
correct
depending
on
one’s
point
of
view.
B.
They
never
lose
their
shapes,
colours
or
tastes.
C.
This
is
why
there
is
so
much
diversity
within
America.
D.
In
other
words,
America
is
a
nation
where
there
is
unity
in
diversity.
E.
Thus,
one
needs
to
abandon
one’s
culture
to
be
considered
“American”.
F.
They
serve
to
develop
the
various
ethnic
groups
to
create
a
new
American
culture.
G.
The
other
theory,
which
is
also
used
to
describe
American
society,
is
the
melting
pot.
10.
解析:根据文意可知,在沙拉碗里,各种沙拉的成分混合在一起,但它们都还保持各自的形状、颜色和口味。结合选项可知,与此叙述相关的是B项,同时B项中的代词they即是指上文提到的ingredients。
答案:B
11.
解析:本段主要讲美国被看作沙拉碗的原因:每一个种族都保持着各自的文化独特性。C项是对空前内容的总结和归纳,尤其是句中的diversity是解题的关键。
答案:C
12.
解析:本段主要讲美国被称为“melting
pot”的原因,G项中的melting
pot与空后的pot构成词汇复现。
答案:G
13.
解析:空前提到,美国无疑可以被视为一个大熔炉,来自世界各地的人们来到这里生活和工作,组成一个国家。F项“他们致力于发展不同的民族,创造新的美国文化”承接上文内容。
答案:F
14.
解析:本段是对前面两个段落内容的总结和归纳,讲到“无论是沙拉碗还是大熔炉,美国都可以被描述为两者的混合体”,这与D项的句意完全一致。
答案:D

Scientists
in
Mexico
have
just
begun
a
new
study
of
one
of
the
worlds
biggest
pyramids:
the
Pyramid
of
the
Sun,
north
of
Mexico
City.
They’re
putting
lots
of
small,
high-tech
machines
under
the
pyramid
to
try
to
unlock
some
of
its
secrets.
For
thousands
of
years,
people
have
tried
to
uncover
the
secrets
of
the
pyramids.
The
people
who
built
the
pyramids
made
lots
of
secret
doors
and
rooms
to
stop
robbers
from
finding
the
treasures
inside.
However,
there
always
have
been
some
smart
thieves
in
history.
Now,
almost
all
of
Egypt’s
pyramids
have
been
robbed,
including
the
Great
Pyramid
of
Khufu,
which
is
the
largest
pyramid
in
the
world.
In
AD
820,
an
Arab
king
named
Abdullah
Al
Manum
got
a
group
of
workers
to
dig
their
way
into
the
Great
Pyramid
and
have
a
look.
Inside
the
pyramid,
they
found
three
rooms—the
Queen’s
Chamber,
the
Grand
Gallery
and
the
King’s
Chamber.
But
to
their
surprise,
the
men
didn’t
find
the
treasures
they
wanted.
The
Queen’s
and
King’s
Chambers
were
both
empty!
Had
someone
already
taken
them
away?
The
huge
stone
doors
at
the
pyramid’s
entrance
were
still
closed
when
Al
Manum’s
men
went
inside.
How
had
the
thieves
got
in
and
out?
Since
then,
many
people
have
gone
inside
the
Great
Pyramid
to
have
a
look
or
to
try
to
take
things.
But
still,
no
other
chambers
or
walkways
have
been
found.
In
2002,
an
American
team
made
the
most
recent
visit
to
the
Great
Pyramid.
Scientists
sent
a
robot
into
the
pyramid,
but
they
only
found
a
mysterious
locked
stone
door.

B
Culture
means
any
human
behaviour
that
is
learned
in
human
society.
All
the
meaningful
parts
of
a
culture
are
passed
on
to
different
generations
through
tradition
or
social
learning.
4
Culture
exists
in
agricultural
as
well
as
industrial
societies.?
Culture
is
necessary
for
the
survival
and
existence
of
human
beings.
Practically
everything
human
beings
know,
think,
value,
feel,
and
do
is
learned
through
taking
part
in
a
socio-cultural
system.
5
Here
is
one
of
the
cases
of
children
growing
up
apart
from
human
society.
In
the
province
of
Midnapore
in
India,
the
director
of
a
children’s
home
was
told
by
local
villagers
that
there
were
“ghosts”
in
the
forest.
Upon
looking
into
the
case,
the
director
found
that
two
children,
one
about
eight
years
old
and
the
other
about
six
years
old,
appeared
to
have
been
living
with
a
pack
of
wolves
in
the
forest.
6
In
his
diary,
the
director
describes
his
first
view
of
Kamala
(as
the
older
child
was
named)
and
Amala
(the
name
given
to
the
younger
child):?
Kamala
was
a
terrible-looking
being,
the
head,
a
big
ball
of
something
covering
the
shoulders.
7
Their
eyes
were
bright
and
sharp,
unlike
human
eyes.
They
were
very
fond
of
raw
meat
and
raw
milk.
Gradually,
as
they
got
stronger,
they
began
going
on
all
fours,
and
afterwards
began
to
run
on
all
fours,
just
like
squirrels.?
Children
learn
human
language
in
the
same
way
they
learn
other
kinds
of
human
behaviour—by
taking
part
in
a
cultural
community.

viewpoint,
all
human
groups
have
a
culture.

These
children
were
the

described
by
the
local

Culture
refers
only
to
the
high

of
a

human
abilities
by

at
its
heels

解析:细节理解题。依据◆Days
11-13:

答案:A
B
The
Great
Wall
of
China
is
one
of
Beijing’s
biggest
draws
for
tourists.
Despite
its
fame
and
ubiquity
on
postcards
across
the
world,
it
rarely
fails
to
attract
tourists
at
the
first
proper
sight.
Yet
the
authorities
open
only
certain
sections
of
the
Wall
as
fit
for
viewing,
and
few
get
to
visit
the
unauthorized
sections.
Fewer
still
are
aware
of
the
existence
of
at
least
one
part
of
the
Wall
that
remains
in
almost
original
condition,
nearly
1,500
years
after
construction
of
legendary
fortification
began.
But
there’s
a
good
reason
for
this—it’s
underwater.
American
journalist
Steven
Schwankert
has
been
diving
since
age
10.
It
was
through
his
setting-up
of
a
diving
school
that
Schwankert
came
to
explore
some
of
the
lesser-known
areas
of
China’s
lakes
and
discovered
the
underwater
Wall
under
a
reservoir.
“The
most
fascinating
piece
of
diving
I
ever
did
in
China
must
be
the
Great
Wall.
I
managed
to
find
out
about
it
via
the
Internet.
It
wasn’t
difficult
to
get
to
Panjiakou
in
Hebei
Province,
near
the
Eastern
Qing
Tombs
about
4
hours’
drive
from
Beijing.
Why
do
I
want
to
dive
the
Great
Wall?
Why
do
people
want
to
walk
on
the
Great
Wall?
It’s
the
same
answer.”
There
are,
however,
advantages
of
visiting
the
Great
Wall
in
a
diving
suit
over
being
on
foot.
The
water
acts
as
a
preservative
by
preventing
the
kind
of
mass
tourism
that
has
brought
trouble
on
other
parts
of
the
Wall.“Unlike
the
people
who
walk
on
the
Wall,
we
as
divers
never
need
to
actually
touch
it.
I’ve
dived
twice
there,
the
last
time
in
July.
I
found
that
the
water
then
was
much
deeper
than
it
was
before—13
metres
deep.”
When
he
first
dived,
parts
of
the
Wall
were
visible
above
the
surface.
Now
even
the
guard
tower
is
completely
submerged.
“It’s
better
that
the
Wall
is
deep
under
water,
as
there
are
lots
of
boats
coming
in
and
out
around
that
area.
Their
wave
action
could
potentially
damage
the
brickwork.
So,
the
deeper,
the
better.”
5.
Steven
Schwankert
is
most
interested
in
.?
A.
collecting
photos
of
the
Wall
B.
walking
along
the
Wall
C.
diving
the
underwater
Wall
D.
visiting
some
famous
lakes
解析:细节理解题。根据第二段“The
most
fascinating
piece
of
diving
I
ever
did
in
China
must
be
the
Great
Wall.”可知,Steven
Schwankert最感兴趣的是水下长城潜水。
答案:C
6.

Paragraph
3

probably
mean?
A.
Damaged
by
water.
B.
Washed
by
water.
C.
Preserved
by
water.
D.
Covered
with
water.
解析:词义猜测题。与最后一段中的“visible

答案:D
7.
What
is
the
topic
discussed
in
the
last
paragraph?
A.
Advantages
of
walking
on
the
Great
Wall.
B.
Advantages

the

Wall.
C.
The
reasons
why
the
Wall
is
deep
under
water.
D.
The
reasons
why
the

解析:细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“There
are,
however,
advantages
of
visiting
the
Great
Wall
in
a
diving
suit
over
being
on
foot.”可知,这里作者是在叙述穿潜水衣游览长城的益处。故B项正确。
答案:B
8.
What
can
we
infer
from
the
text?
A.
The
underwater
Wall
will
sink
deeper
year
by
year.
B.
Diving
the
Wall
is
popular
with
divers
all
over
the
world.
C.
Diving
is
a
good
way
to
visit
the
Wall
without
causing
much
damage.
D.
More
and
more
tourists
will
come
to
visit
the
underwater
Wall
in
China.
解析:推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“The
water
acts
as
a
preservative
by
preventing
the
kind
of
mass
tourism
that
has
brought
trouble
on
other
parts
of
the
Wall.”可知,水下长城潜水拥有更好的优势,是游览长城的一种好方式,因为水下游长城可以避免对长城的破坏。故C项正确。
答案:C
C
Culture
means
any
human
behaviour
that
is
learned
in
human
society.
All
of
the
meaningful
parts
of
a
culture
are
passed
on
to
different
generations
through
tradition
or
social
learning.
9
Culture
exists
in
agricultural
as
well
as
industrial
societies.?
Culture
is
necessary
for
the
survival
and
existence
of
human
beings.
Practically
everything
human
beings
know,
think,
value,
feel,
and
do
is
learned
through
taking
part
in
a
sociocultural
system.
10
Here
is
one
of
the
cases
of
children
growing
up
apart
from
human
society.
In
the
province
of
Midnapore
in
India,
the
director
of
a
children’s
home
was
told
by
local
villagers
that
there
were
“ghosts”
in
the
forest.
Upon
looking
into
the
case,
the
director
found
that
two
children,
one
about
eight
years
old
and
the
other
about
six
years
old,
appeared
to
have
been
living
with
a
pack
of
wolves
in
the
forest.
11
In
his
diary,
the
director
describes
his
first
view
of
Kamala
(as
the
older
child
was
named)
and
Amala
(the
name
given
to
the
younger
child):?
Kamala
was
a
terrible-looking
being,
the
head,
a
big
ball
of
something
covering
the
shoulders.
12
Their
eyes
were
bright
and
sharp,
unlike
human
eyes.
They
were
very
fond
of
raw
meat
and
raw
milk.
Gradually,
as
they
got
stronger,
they
began
going
on
all
fours,
and
afterwards
began
to
run
on
all
fours,
just
like
squirrels.?
Children
learn
human
language
in
the
same
way
they
learn
other
kinds
of
human
behaviour—by
taking
part
in
a
cultural
community.
13 ?
A.
This
statement
is
well
supported
by
some
well-written
cases.
B.
From
this
viewpoint,
all
human
groups
have
a
culture.
C.
These
children
were
the
ghosts
described
by
the
local
people.
D.
Culture
refers
only
to
the
high
art
and
classical
music
of
a
particular
society.
E.
Human
beings
can
only
develop
human
abilities
by
the
local
people.
F.
Close
at
its
heels
there
came
another
terrible
creature
exactly
like
the
first,
but
smaller
in
size.
G.
They
learn
a
certain
human
language
as
well
as
certain
kinds
of
human
behaviour
through
their
membership
in
a
certain
cultural
community.
