Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Revison
To ask some questions about the text of lesson 22
A: What words did Jenny write in her card
B: What words did Danny write in his card
C: What do they do after writing the birthday cards
To translate some phrases into Chinese
A: I send a flower to my mother.
B: He passes some candies to that child.
C: go into the post office
Step 2: To learn the new words.
Step 3: To lead into the new lesson.
Teacher asks: If you get a birthday gift , how do you feel
What will you do
Students answers: ( discuss with students)
Teacher says: Today Li Ming gets his gift from Canada. He writes a letter to his Canadian friends. Let`s learn what he writes. Let`s feel his feeling.
Step 4: To explain the text one paragraph by one paragraph.
1 The first paragraph—to express his thank
Explain thanks(thank you) for sth./doing sth.
2 The second paragraph—to talk about his gift
Some import words to describe it.
A: be in fashion (be out of fashion)
B: present`s colour—red –his favourite
C: It fits him very well.—Question –How did you know what size to buy
3 The third paragraph—something new—cap –-from Danny
A: difference between cap and hat
hat: 礼帽,一圈都有沿的帽子
cap: 遮阳帽或制服帽, 一部分有沿的帽子
B: think of sb.
Show the small blackboard with some questions. Let students listen to the rest of the text and answer them.
A: Who gave him a Chinese party
B: Who were invited by Li Ming`s parents.
C: What do they eat
D: What about the birthday cake
Check the answers with students
A: His father and mather.
B: His friends, his cousin, his uncles and aunts and his grandparents.
C: They ate noodles.
D: It is delicious one whit thirteen candles.
Step 5 Bet students guess and discuss.
When they eat birthday cake,what do Li Ming and his parents do If it is yours, will your parents do like that
Some tips: turn off the lights
carry the cake into the room
blow out the candles
etc.
Step 6 Sum up
Try to retell the text following the teacher.
Step 7 Hmework
A: Finish the topics on the exercise book.
B: Write a thank—you note to thank you for someone who sends you gift on your birthday.
