第二部分
阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节
(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
The
United
States
has
about
475,000
school
buses
—
all
painted
yellow.
Each
day
they
carry
more
than
25,000,000
children,
half
of
all
schoolchildren
in
the
country.
But
these
buses,
on
average,
use
four
liters
of
diesel
(
柴油)
fuel
to
travel
less
than
sixteen
kilometers.
When
the
school
year
began
last
fall,
diesel
averaged
55
cents
a
liter
nationally.
The
price
nearly
doubled,
to
a
dollar
and
8
cents,
by
the
end
of
school
in
June.
Bob
Riley
speaks
for
the
American
School
Bus
Council.
He
says
fuel
prices
for
schools
are
not
much
lower
than
others
have
to
pay.
As
a
result,
schools
are
looking
for
ways
to
reduce
transportation
costs.
Bus
routes
are
being
redrawn
or,
in
some
cases,
canceled.
Some
areas
are
buying
buses
that
use
natural
gas
or
other
alternative
fuels.
Other
steps
include
fewer
field
trips
and
less
travel
by
sports
teams.
And
some
school
districts
may
end
any
bus
service
not
required
by
law.
Studies
show
that
school
buses
are
the
safest
form
of
transportation
to
and
from
school.
The
American
School
Bus
Council
says
cuts
in
bus
service
are
bad
for
children
and
possibly
the
environment.
It
says
removing
buses
from
the
road
will
mean
an
increase
in
other
vehicles
transporting
students.
Spokesman
Bob
Riley
says
another
concern
is
that
reducing
bus
services
might
reduce
attendance.
But
it
could
also
get
more
children
to
walk
or
bicycle
to
school.
And
that
would
surely
make
people
happy
at
the
National
Center
for
Safe
Routes
to
School.
More
kids
walking
or
biking
safely
to
school
is
the
aim
of
a
three-year-old
federal
program,
part
of
an
international
movement.
The
goal
is
to
increase
physical
activity
and
reduce
air
pollution.
The
United
States
will
celebrate
Walk
to
School
Day
on
October
eighth
this
year.
But
for
some
students,
high
fuel
prices
could
make
every
day
a
walk-to-school
day.
21.What
does
this
passage
mainly
tell
us?
A.High
fuel
prices’
influences
on
school
buses.
B.New
measures
to
transport
school
students.
C.The
safest
form
of
student
transportation.
D.The
origin
of
Walk
to
School
Day.
22.In
order
to
cut
down
transportation
cost,
many
schools
take
the
following
measures
EXCEPT
______
.
A.changing
some
bus
routes
B.stopping
some
bus
routes
C.asking
parents
to
drive
children
to
and
from
school
D.using
other
types
of
fuels
23.The
National
Center
for
Safe
Routes
to
School
encourages
more
children
to
walk
or
bike
to
school
in
order
to
______.
A.save
more
fuels
and
diesel
for
the
country
B.keep
the
children
safe
on
their
way
to
school
C.make
the
children
live
a
simple
life
D.keep
the
children
healthy
and
the

clean

While
out
hunting
for
ducks
near
Perry
Lake,
Kansas,
Jake
Atkins
and
his
friend
accidentally
got
trapped
in
sinking
mud,
which
they
unknowingly
walked
right
into.
"We
were
walking
pretty
much
side-by-side,
and
we
both
sank
to
knee
depth
in
the
mud
and
we
tried
to
wiggle(扭动)ourselves
out
and
it
ended
up
being
waist
deep,"
Atkins
said.
They
realized
that
if
they
struggled
any
more,
they
would
only
sink
further,
so
Atkins
called
911
and
they
tried
to
stay
as
still
as
possible
until
help
arrived.
Atkins'
dog,
Otis,
waited
nearby
but
jumped
to
action
when
firefighters
failed
to
save
his
owner.
"If
they'd
walked
out,
they
would've
sunk
too.
So
there
was
no
way
for
them
to
get
rope
to
us.
So
when
those
firefighters
popped
out
of
the
bushes,
I
said
just
tie
the
rope
onto
Otis,"
Atkins
said.
Otis
bravely
walked
out
onto
the
sinking
mud
three
times
to
rescue
the
gear,
Atkins
friend,
and
finally
Atkins.
By
the
final
trip,
Otis
was
crying
from
exhaustion(精疲力竭)but
refused
to
rest
until
Atkins
was
safe.
"
He
followed
me
as
they
were
pulling
me.
He
kind
of
just
was
walking
right
beside
me
as
they
were
pulling
me
in
on
my
back.
It
was
kind
of
funny,"
Atkins
said.

All
languages
change
over
time,
and
there
can
be
many
different
reasons
for
this.
The
English
language
is
no
different
—
but
why
has
it
changed
over
the
decades?
Some
of
the
main
influences
on
the
evolution
of
languages
include:
The
movement
of
people
across
the
globe…
What
changes
has
the
English
language
seen?
As
the
English
language
has
changed,
it’s
been
easy
to
pick
out
words
that
pass
into
common
usage.
The
rise
in
popularity
of
internet
slang
(俚语)
has
seen
phrases
such
as
“LOL”
(
Laugh
Out
Loud
),
“YOLO”
(
You
Only
Live
Once
)
and
“bae”
(an
abbreviated
form
of
babe
or
baby
)
become
firmly
rooted
in
the
English
language
over
the
past
ten
years.
Every
decade
sees
new
slang
terms
like
these
appearing
in
the
English
language.
And
while
some
words
or
abbreviations
do
come
from
the
Internet
or
text
conversations,
others
may
appear
as
entirely
new
words,
a
new
meaning
for
an
existing
word,
or
a
word
that
becomes
more
generalized
than
its
former
meaning.
Decades
ago,
“blimey”
was
a
new
expression
of
surprise,
but
more
recently”woah”
is
the
word
in
everyday
usage.
Sentence
structure
is
of
course
another
change
to
English
language.
Decades
ago,
it
would
have
been
normal
to
ask
“Have
you
a
moment?”
Now,
you
might
say
“D’you
have
a
sec?”
Similarly,
“How
do
you
do?”
has
become
“How’s
it
going?”
Not
only
have
the
sentences
been
shortened,
but
new
words
have
been
introduced
to
everyday
questions.
Connected
to
this
is
the
replacement
of
certain
words
with
other,
more-modern
versions.
It’s
pretty
noticeable
that
words
like
“shall”
and
“ought”
are
on
the
way
out,
but
“will”,
“should”
and
“can”
are
doing
just
fine.
Other
changes
can
be
more
subtle
(微妙).
A
number
of
verbs
can
be
followed
by
another
verb
in
either
the
“-ing”
form
or
the
“to”
form,
for
example
“they
liked
painting
/
to
paint”,
“he
didn’t
bother
calling
/
to
call”.
Both
of
these
constructions
are
still
used
but
there
has
been
a
steady
shift
over
time
from
the
“to”
to
the
“-ing”.
What
do
the
changes
mean?
Most
language
experts
accept
that
change
in
language,
like
change
in
society,
is
unavoidable.
Some
think
that
is
regrettable,
but
others
recognize
it
as
a
way
to
enrich
the
language,
bringing
alternatives
that
allow
subtle
differences
of
expression.
As
with
everything,
change
isn’t
necessarily
a
bad
thing
and,
as
the
needs
of
English
language
users
continue
to
change,
so
will
the
language
!
28.What
is

has
changed
over
the

English
language
has
seen
the
changes
in___________.
A.Internet
slang
terms
and
new
words’
meanings

structures
C.text

and

questions

verbs

in

because
of__________.

fast-paced
modern
life

worsening
laziness
of
the
youth
C.the
English
influence
on

If
we
planted
a
lot
more
trees
in
just
the
right
places,
they
could
reduce
the
amount
of
carbon
in
the
atmosphere
to
levels
not
seen
since
the
1920s,
said
study
leader
Jean
Francois
Bastin,
an
ecologist
from
the
Swiss
Federal
Institute
of
Technology.
After
examining
more
than
70,000
high-quality
satellite
photos
of
trees
from
all
over
the
planet,
ecologists
concluded
that
the
earth
could
support
900
million
additional
hectares
(公顷)
of
tree
cover.
Bastin
and
his
colleagues
developed
a
computer
program
that
estimates
how
much
forested
land
could
be
restored
both
now
and
in
a
future
warmer
world.
The
team
members
combed
through
78,774
satellite
photos
of
a
variety
of
ecosystems-
everywhere
from
the
thick
Amazon
rainforest
to
the
dry
Sahel
in
Africa-that
had
been
protected
from
human
influence.
They
counted
every
tree
in
every
photo
to
assess
the
current
tree
coverage
in
natural
environments.
The
researchers
combined
that
information
with
data
about
the
climate,
temperature
and
soil
conditions
for
each
ecosystem.
Then
they
taught
their
program
to
put
it
all
together
to
determine
how
much
tree
coverage
a
particular
area
could
support.
The
result
shows
trees
currently
cover
2.8
billion
hectares
of
land-
but
they
have
the
potential
to
populate
as
much
as
4.4
billion
hectares.
Right
now,
much
of
the
additional
1.6
billion
hectares
is
being
used
for
agriculture
or
urban
spaces.
The
researchers
took
those
areas
off
the
table
and
saw
that
the
earth
still
has
900
million
hectares
ready
and
waiting
to
be
restored
with
trees
an
area
roughly
the
size
of
Brazil.
When
those
trees
mature,
they
could
remove
205
gigatonnes
(兆吨)
of
carbon
from
the
atmosphere,
the
study
calculated,
That
represents
about
two-thirds
of
the
roughly
300
gigatonnes
of
atmospheric
carbon
that
can
be
traced
to
human
actions,
they
said.
Even
if
trees
are
planted
in
the
most
mindful
way,
other
actions
are
still
needed
to
fight
climate
change,
Bastin
said.
32.Why
did
Bastin
develop
a
computer
program?
A.To
reduce
air
pollution
in
Africa.
B.To
determine
carbon
dioxide
in
the
air.
C.To
assess
the
potential
forested
land.
D.To
calculate
the
area
of
forest
in
the
world.
33.What
does
the
underlined
phrase
“combed
through”
in
Paragraph
2
refer
to?
A.Looked
into.
B.Put
away.
C.Brought
back.
D.Took
in.
34.What
can
we
infer
from
what
Basin
said
in
the
last
paragraph?
A.Brazil
has
large
areas
to
plant
trees.
B.The
tree
cover
is
not
enough
to
control
greenhouse
gases.
C.Trees
removed
two-thirds
of
carbon
in
the
atmosphere.
D.Other
actions
are
equally
important
compared
to
planting
trees.
35.What
is
the
author’s
attitude
towards
the
research
result?
A.Disapproving.
B.Doubtful.
C.Supportive.
D.Objective.

第一节
(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)
As
the
saying
goes,
roses
given,
fragrance
in
hand.
I
am
always
in
the
41
of
giving
money
to
every
beggar
or
homeless
person
I
pass
by.
My
friends
say
it
is
not
good
to
42
.
We
may
come
across
beggars
or
homeless
people
begging
every
day
and
all
beggars
have
their
ability
to
survive.
It
43
them
that
I
never
listen.
On
a
44
day,
my
friend
and
I
were
walking
to
the
bus
stop
45
I
passed
a
beggar
lady.
I
had
seen
her
several
times
before
and
had
always
given
her
a
few
46
.
That
day,
I
gave
her
2
Euros.
I
was
waiting
for
the
bus
and
reading
a
book
when
I
47
to
see
that
lady
standing
in
front
of
me.
She
48
me
a
piece
of
paper
covered
in
a
plastic
bag
to
prevent
it
from
getting
49
.
She
stood
there,
looking
at
me
50
.
Putting
away
my
book,
I
took
the
paper,
which
51
she
and
her
family
had
to
52
their
country
because
of
floods,
and
she
was
53
to
support
them.
She
had
got
a
bit
of
money,
but
she
needed
five
54
Euros
to
get
home.
I
55
into
my
pockets
and
found
20
cents.
My
friend
56
a
5
Euro
note.
I
asked
her
to
give
it
to
the
lady,
and
said
that
I
would
57
the
next
day.
When
she
got
the
money,
the
lady
hugged
us
and
said
thanks
again
and
again,
and
went
on
her
way.
Later
on
the
bus,
I
wondered
where
her
home
was
and
58
she
had
gotten
to
this
country.
In
her
story,
I
felt
that
my
friend
and
I
would
always
remain
part
of
it
as
the
59
,
who
helped
her
get
home
on
a
rainy
day.
But
for
me,
helping
a
stranger
did
bring
me
happiness,
giving
me
a
pleasant
60
.

Flying
a
kite
is
one
of
the
Chinese
traditional
activity
but
I
didn't
experience
it
until
last
weekend.
It
was
beautiful
Sunday.
My
little
brother
begged
me
to
fly
a
kite
with
him.
We
bought
a
kite
shaping
like
an
eagle
and
went
to
the
Times
Square,
which
many
people
were
flying
their
kites
happily.
Saw
the
lively
scene,we
couldn't
wait
to
join
them.
After
some
attempts,
therefore,
I
found
flying
a
kite
wasn't

imagined.
About
half
an
hour
later,
the
kite
flies
into

slowly.
My

watched
to

cheering.
I
was

I
had
made
it.
