In 2003, SARS, a kind of serious disease, broke out in China. 2003年，一种严重的疾病—SARS袭击了中国。

（1）care for意思是“照看，照顾”，相当于take care of，look after。如：
she had to care for her little brother, so she couldn’t go to school.
她不得不照看她的小弟弟，所以她不能去上学。
（2）day and night ＝ night and day 日日夜夜，夜以继日；如：
The machines are kept running day and night. 这些机器夜以继日地运转着。
It’s my duty to save patients. 挽救病人的生命是我的职责。
it 是形式主语，动词不定式短语to save the patients 是真正的主语。如：
It is important for us to learn English. 对我们来说，学习英语是很重要的。
(2) duty (n.) 责任，义务；如：
It’s your duty as a parent to protect your children. 作为家长，你有责任保护你的孩子。
【常用词组】on duty 值班，值日；如： Who is on duty today 今天谁值日？
（3）save (v.) 救，挽救 save one’s life 救某人的命； 如：
A man saved his life a few years ago. 几年前一个人救了他的命。
save 还有“节省”的意思；save money/time/water 节省钱/时间/水
