Unit 5 I like music that I can dance to.
Language Goals: Express preferences with relative clauses.
Teaching aims:
Aim I. Use the following sentences:
What kind of music/movies do you like
I like …that/which….
Aim II. Show their pointviews about anything.
Class interactivities:
I. Conversation (Pair work):
Teaching principle: Practice the basic drills freely.
What kind of music/movies do you like … like that/which…
II. Debate: (pros--cons)
Teaching principle: Cultivate students’ ability
Pros: My friend, Amy likes cell phones that can help her contact me easily.
Cons: But I don’t like cell phones that always interrupt me.
Teaching steps:
Step I: Lead –in:
Show a MV about a band.
Lead the students into the situation by watching a MV about favorite band.
Step II: Presentation:
Show different kinds of music/movies.
While showing the names, the students say them in English .The teacher asks the students many questions such as “Do you like jazz , “You like jazz that …”and so on.
Show different kinds of music/movies so that the students can answer them easily according to their experience.
Step III: Pairwork
This activity is to train the students’ oral English with the relative clauses.
Step IV: Introduce a band called “Wild and Windy”
After reading and understanding with the help of teachers ,instruct students to finish the main content and try to use the knowledge by the students themselves.
Step V: Learning the rest of two reviews by listening and questions.
Students read them, underline the answer and find the difficult knowledge in the limited time.
This part is to let the students learn by themselves how to get information while readying.
Step VI: Assignment
Divide students to two sides, one is pros, the other cons. Using the different topic to show their point views
