Take five Chinese teachers, put them in a British classroom with fifty students for four weeks of Chinese-style education and what do you get? You get the BBC TV series Are Our Kids Tough Enough? Chinese School.
The series__33__(design) as a competition between Chinese-style education and British-style education. At the end of the four weeks, the fifty students __34__(teach) by the Chinese teachers were tested against the rest of their 13- and 14-year-old Year 9 classmates at Bohunt, one of the best schools in England, to see __35__ group got the best marks. To almost everyone’s surprise, especially Bohunt’s head teacher’s, the Chinese-taught group scored ten percent higher in all subjects, __36__ (include) Math, Science and Mandarin.
That outcome wasn’t obvious at the beginning of the experiment. __37__ the students liked some parts of the Chinese system, like the outdoor morning exercises, they were not happy with the long school day—five hours longer than the British school day—and, in class, they quickly became bored with the “chalk-and-talk” Chinese style of teaching. British-style education__38__ (involve) more classroom activities and class discussions. As a result, there were discipline problems with some students and the Chinese teachers became frustrated.
But, eventually, the students began to respond to the Chinese teachers. The teachers were clear in their explanations and clear about__39__ they expected from the students. Many students liked the idea __40__ they were being challenged to perform better and they felt they were really learning. At the end of the four weeks, the students expressed their gratitude to the Chinese teachers and many cried _41__ they said their goodbyes.
One thing is certain, though. The TV series proved that Chinese teachers are among the __42__ (qualify) and dedicated in the world. They deserve our admiration and respect.

The most difficult part of a Western-Chinese marriage is the cultural differences. The traditional Chinese culture is established on the Confucian philosophy, while the western culture is based on ancient Greek __41__. Cultural differences exist in almost every aspect and therefore __42__ also on relationships and marriage.
From the traditional Chinese point of view, marriage is a relationship __43__ many aspects such as family, friends and relatives, while from the Western point of view, marriage is a contract signed between two people that is based on trust and love. Furthermore, Westerners’ marriages __44__ more the independence and __45__ of the couple.
That is why Westerners sometimes cannot understand why we Chinese need to support our relatives if we are asked to do so. Chinese need to maintain their “face” and “relations”. Even in a relationship, we are somehow still __46__ to our family and relatives. Our partner has to understand it and at least does not __47__ it.
It is not easy to maintain Chinese-Western relationship. Cultural differences may result in __48__. Young Asian ladies are fond of western men because they believe they are more gentlemanly and in addition their appearances are more attractive. My suggestion for the cross-culture relationship is always trying to put yourself in other’s shoes: accepting rather than changing; always respecting your partner but __49__ your own red lines; showing your interest in his/her different culture and carefully commenting on it and so on.
There are more and more cross-culture marriages __50__ recently. I would like to take this chance to sincerely wish them the very best in their love journeys.

Manners play an important role in making a favorable impression at the dinner table. Here are some general rules:
Napkin (餐巾) use
The meal begins when the host unfolds his or her napkin. This is your signal to do the same, so place your napkin on your lap. Unfold it completely if it is a small napkin, or in half, lengthwise(纵向地), if it is a larger dinner napkin.
If you need to leave the table during the meal, place your napkin on your chair as a signal to your server that you will be returning. Once the meal is over, place your napkin neatly on the table to the right of your dinner plate. Do not refold it.
Use a napkin only for your mouth. Never use it for your nose, face or forehead.
Use of utensils(餐具)
Start with the knife, fork or spoon farthest from your plate, and work your way in, using one utensil for each course.
If soup is served, remember to spoon away from yourself. This helps stop the drips. Do not put the entire soup spoon in your mouth. Instead, fill a soup spoon about 75 percent with soup, and sip it from the side noiselessly.
After finishing dinner, place the knife and fork parellel to one another across the plate with the knife blade facing inward toward the plate.
Using your fingers
Here’s a list of finger foods: sandwiches, cookies, small fruits or berries with stems, French fries and potato chips, and hamburgers.
Chew(咀嚼) with your mouth closed and don’t make noise; don’t talk with your mouth full.
Bread must be broken with your hands. It is never cut with a knife.
Don’t pick something out of your teeth. Instead, excuse yourself to the bathroom.
If possible, try not to cough at the table.
Do not put your elbows(肘)on the table. In France, it is essential to have both hands above the table at the same time.
Do not put bones or anything else on the table. Things that are not eaten should be put on your plate.
