1.Learn the sentences with the third single subject.
① What do your parents do? They are both office workers.
② What does your mother do? She is a teacher.
2.Learn the useful expressions:
Glad to meet you.
Please have a seat.
Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Review
1.Encourage the students to make dialogs in groups by competition. E.g.
Glad/Nice to meet/see you.
What’s your name? Where are you from?
How old are you?
Are you in Class One?
Is this a pen?
Do you like English?
Do you have an English book?
Who’s that girl?
Does she have long hair?
2.Learn the new words and phrases with the help of pictures.
E.g. Family members: parent, father, mother,kid
Jobs: doctor, nurse, (office) worker, driver, farmer, cook,
Have a seat = sit down
Glad be glad I’m glad to see you all.
Step 2.Listening and saying
1.Lead-in: Present a short dialog with the students. E.g.
T: I’m new here. Can you introduce some of your classmates to me?
Ask one or two students to give an example of introduction.
2.Talk about the picture. And summarize.
3.Listen. And repeat one by one.
4.Listen to the tape again and answer the question:
How does Kankan introduce his friends to his mother?
5.Discuss the key points:
Be home = be at home
Have a seat = sit down = take a seat
Glad to see you = nice to see you
6.Make more dialogs among the teacher and the students.
Step3.Presentation
1.Present the key sentence pattern by discussing the pictures. e.g.
What do I/you do? You’re / I’m a teacher / student.
What does he do?
He is a driver / student / cook / worker…
What does she do?
She is a teacher / nurse / doctor...
2.Encourage the students to make similar dialogs according to the pictures. in pairs, then ask some pairs to show it out.
3.Sum up the usage and form of the key sentence pattern.
Step4 Reading (Consolidation)
1.Listen and answer the question:
What does Kankan’s mother do?
What does Kankan’s father do?
2.Read and finish.
3.Discuss the key points:
What does your mother / father do?
She / He is a teacher/ doctor.
What do your parents do?
They are both office workers.
= Both of them are office workers.
4.Act it out.
5.Work in pairs: Talk about the students’ own parents’ occupations. And fill in the table, then ask 2-3 students to have a report.
