Step1. Warming up. 1. Greetings
2. T: In this lesson we’re going to talk about how to have a perfect birthday party. Look. I’ve got an invitation card from my friend Lucy. What’s on it? Let’s read it together.
T: Good. Lucy invites us to her birthday party. Would you like to come to Lucy’s birthday party? You can ask each other.
S: Sure, I’d love to.
(板书)
T: Me, too. What is the date of the party?
S: It’s on Oct. 25th.
T: What time does the party begin?
S: It begins at 5:30 pm.
T: Good, I can come then. Lucy invites us to her birthday party. If you have a birthday party, would you like to invite us? How to say?
S: Would you like to come to my birthday party? (板书)
T: Let’s make a dialogue just like Lesson 13. (Show dialogues in 2 groups)
Step 2. Presentation
1. T: Lucy gave us the invitation card and she also says something about her birthday plan. Let抯 have a look and listen.
T: Ok. First, what would Lucy like to do?
S: She would like invite her friends to her party. (Teach and write invite)
T: If you have a birthday party, would you like to invite your friends to your party? Let抯 ask and answer in chain. (板书invite your friends to your party)
2. T: Next, what would Lucy like to do?
S: She would like to celebrate her birthday with her friends.
T: Would you like to celebrate your birthday with your friends?
(Teach and write celebrate. Ask and answer in chain. 板书celebrate your birthday with your friends)
3. T: At last, what does Lucy want?
S: She wants her friends give birthday cards to her. (Teach and write give)
T: If you join your friend’s party, would you like to give your birthday card to your friend? (Ask and answer in chain. 板书give your birthday card to your friend)
4. T: I’m very happy to go to Lucy’s party. So I want to give her a surprise. Look at this boy. He’s only ten years old, but he’s a singer. He sings very well. Listen, this is his song. In his song, he wants to tell us we don抰 like wars, poor and hungry. The world needs peace and love. Do you like his song? Lucy likes his song very much. So let抯 invite him to Lucy抯 birthday? How to say?
S: Would you like to come to Lucy抯 birthday party?
T: How about his answer? Listen. Would you like to invite some friends to Lucy抯 party? Here are some and they are very popular now. If you want to invite one of them, you can say: I would like to invite to come to Lucy抯 birthday party. ( Have the children say and point to the photos.)
T: Who would like to invite ? ( Have them answer together , then point.)
5. T: So many friends will come to Lucy抯 party, that抯 must be a big party. So where would she celebrate her birthday? Let抯 play a guessing game by use this sentence: Lucy would like to celebrate her birthday .
Step 3. Practice
T: Yes, Lucy would like to celebrate her birthday in the park. I think she must be very happy. That must be a perfect birthday party. Do you like birthdays? But someone not. This grandpa is Mr Wang. He doesn抰 like birthdays. Because he has no children. He lives in the Old People抯 Home. We should care about old people. So, let抯 celebrate his birthday with him. Tomorrow is his birthday. Would you like to invite some friends to Mr Wang抯 birthday party? Let抯 write an invitation card like this. After that, you can give your card to your friend. (Show an invitation card and have them write their own cards.)
T: How to give your card? Can you show us? (Show their dialogue)
T: Lucy also invites Peter to Mr Wang’s party, here’s their dialogue. What are they talking about? Let’s fill in the blanks. ( Have them fill in the blanks on their papers. )
T: I would like to ask two children read the dialogue and the others check your answers. ( Have two children read and the others check.)
T: At Mr Wang’s party, I would like to make a birthday cake for him. What would you like to do for him?
S: I would like to … for him.
T: I have an idea. Let’s say a chant for him. Please open your books, turn to page 28, listen and circle the words with letters ow. ( Have them listen and circle, then check their answers. Read the words and tell him ow in these words pronounced / ??/.)
T: Let’s practice the chant. Clap your hands together.
Step 4. Conclusion
T: Great. Mr Wang must be very happy tomorrow. And we are happy, too.
We care about the old people and we learn more in this lesson. We know if I want to have a perfect party, first …. When I invite my friends, I can say…. Then, I would like to …. How to celebrate? Can you give me some advices?
