What
do
the
following
places
have
in
common:
the
Serengeti
Desert,
Edinburgh's
Old
Town
and
the
Monarch
Butterfly
Biosphere
Reserve?
The
Serengeti
Desert
is
in
Tanzania
and
Kenya,
Africa.
It
contains
(包含)
thousands
of
kilometers
of
dry
grasslands
and
many
rare
kinds
of
animals.
Edinburgh's
Old
Town
is
in
the
capital
city
of
Scotland.
It
has
many
old
buildings
and
streets.
There
are
very
few
new
buildings
in
Edinburgh's
Old
Town.
The
Monarch
Butterfly
Biosphere
Reserve
is
near
Mexico
City
in
Mexico.
It
has
beautiful
flowers
and
forests.
It
is
also
the
home
of
millions
of
butterflies
in
the
winter.
These
three
places
are
very
different.
But
they
are
all
under
special
protection
by
UNESCO
(联合国教科文组织).
They
are
World
Heritage
Sites.
The
story
of
World
Heritage
Sites
began
more
than
3,000
years
ago.
At
that
time,
the
great
king
of
Egypt
built
many
temples.
But
after
thousands
of
years,
sand
covered
them.
Stories
tell
of
a
young
boy
named
Abu
Simbel
who
found
the
temples.
One
day,
Abu
Simbel
saw
something
under
the
sand.
Soon,
the
ancient
temples
of
Ramses
Ⅱ
were
officially
rediscovered.
But
they
were
not
safe.
The
government
of
Egypt
planned
to
build
a
dam
on
the
Nile
River.
It
would
create
a
large
lake,
which
would
cover
the
temples
in
water.
Many
people
did
not
want
the
temples
destroyed.
UNESCO
agreed
and
raised
40
million
dollars
from
around
the
world
to
save
the
temples.
From
1964
to
1968,
engineers
took
the
temples
apart
in
many
pieces
and
rebuilt
them
hundreds
of
meters
back
from
the
Nile
River.
Today,
they
are
called
the
Abu
Simbel
Temples,
in
memory
of
the
young
boy
who
first
found
them.
The
effort
to
save
the
Abu
Simbel
Temples
was
a
success.
So
in
1972,
UNESCO
formed
the
World
Heritage
Committee,
which
protects
places
on
the
earth
that
are
of
great
cultural
or
natural
value.
Any
country
in
the
world
can
ask
for
protection
from
UNESCO.
The
countries
send
a
list
of
places
to
the
World
Heritage
Committee.
Once
a
year,
the
World
Heritage
Committee
meets
and
votes
on
which
places
to
protect.
When
they
choose
a
place,
it
officially
becomes
a
World
Heritage
Site.

Even
famous

According
to
researchers
many
people
tattoo
themselves
as
a
sign
of
individuality
(个性).
They
want
to
express
themselves
and
show
others
who
they
are.
Other
forms

art
are
also
on
the
rise.
Today,
tattoos
are
widely
accepted
in
society.
That

case.
Tattoos
used
to
be
connected
with
criminals
(罪犯),
lower

people
or
certain
groups
like
sailors
and
motorcycle
gangs.
While
tattooing
was
once
only
for
men,
more
and
more
women
are
now
getting
tattoos.
Tattooing
goes
way
back
in
history.
In
many
parts
of
the
world,
people
used
tattoos
for
different
purposes.
The
ancient
Romans
tattooed
their
slaves.
Native
Americans
tattooed
themselves
as
a
sign
of
bravery.
In
Nazi
Germany
Jews
were
marked

a

tell
who
they
were.
Not
only
has
tattooing
itself
become
a
big
industry,
but
removing
them
is
also
on
the
increase.
Many
people
just
don't
realize
that
a
tattoo
lasts
forever,
and
at
some
time
in
their
lives
they
may
want
to
get
rid
of
it.
The
cost
of
tattooing
yourself
usually
depends
on
how
large
the
tattoo
is
or
how
complex
(复杂的)
it
is.
Prices
are
usually
from
a
hundred
to
over
a
thousand
dollars.

答案与解析
1.第一句:exciting→excited。句意:他要来中国,我感到很兴奋。excited“感到兴奋”。
2.第二句:free前加was。free在此为形容词,需和谓语动词be构成系表结构,根据时态应加was。
3.第二句:去掉a。plenty
of“大量的”,是固定短语。
4.第三句:you→we。句意:我在机场接他,然后我们一起乘8路公交车回家。
5.第三句:for→to。take...
to
someplace“坐……到某地”。
6.第四句:worries→worried。句意:在他的邮件中他担心这儿的天气。时间是过去,所以用一般过去时。
7.第六句:but→and/so。句意:我告诉他这儿并不是太冷,因此他不必带那么多的衣服。前后形成因果关系或顺承关系,故用and/so。
8.第七句:interests→interest。places
of
interest“名胜古迹”,是固定搭配。
9.第八句:well→good。句意:我们一起玩得很愉快。修饰名词用形容词good。

Ⅰ.阅读理解
Many
people
believe
that
language
belongs
to
human
beings.
However,
cats
have
developed
a
language
not
for
each
other,
but
for
the
human
beings
who
have
them
as
pets.
When
communicating
with
each
other,cats
“talk”
with
a
system
of
signals.
Their
tails,
rather
than
any
kind
of
“speech”,
act
as
an
important
way
to
express
themselves.
They
also
touch
each
other
to
express
their
feelings.
With
other
cats,
they
will
use
their
voices
only
to
express
pain.
Unbelievable,
all
of
that
changes
when
a
human
walks
into
the
room.
Cats
use
many
different
kinds
of
vocal
(声音的)expressions
when
they
communicate
with
a
person.Since
these
vocal
expressions
are
not
used
to
communicate
with
other
cats,
it
seems
that
cats
developed
this
“language”
to
communicate
with
their
human
owners.
This
fact
is
shown
more
clearly
when
watching
rooms
that
have
only
one
cat
and
those
with
several
cats.
An
only
cat
is
usually
very
vocal,
since
the
only
creature
(动物)
around
with
whom
the
cat
can
communicate
is
its
owner.
Cats
with
other
cats,though,
are
much
quieter.
If
they
want
to
have
a
conversation,
they
only
need
go
to
other
cats
and
communicate
in
their
natural
way.
Since
cats
learned
to
meow(喵喵叫)for
the
only
purpose
of
communicating
with
human,owners
should
take
the
time
to
learn
what
their
different
meows
mean.If
an
owner
knows,to
name
just
a
few
examples,
which
meow
means
the
cat
is
hungry,which
means
the
cat
wants
to
be
petted,
and
which
means
the
cat
wants
to
have
a
little
“conversation”,the
relationship
between
cat
and
owner
will
be
closer.
许多人认为,语言属于人类。然而,宠物猫已经演变出一种不是为了彼此,而是与主人交流的语言。猫的主人应花时间了解喵喵叫的含义,多和自己的猫沟通,增加彼此的感情。
1.If
a
cat
among
other
cats
finds
part
of
its
body
hurts,
it
may
express
its
pain
with
its________.
A.tail
B.eyes
C.voice
D.head
答案:C
