第二部分
阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
??Science
fiction
paints
a
future
where
robots
play
an
important
part
in
everyday
life.
A
technology
firm
is
trying
to
make
that
future
a
reality
today
with
an
affordable
robot
called
Artibo.
Artibo
is
small.
Its
brain,
or
AI
block,
is
a
cube
(立方体)that
fits
in
your
hand.
That
block
connects
to
a
motor
block
and
two
silicon
wheels.
Assembled,
it's
about
four
inches
tall.
Artibo
is
much
more
than
just
a
robot
that
you
program
to
move
around.
Artibo’s
designers
want
it
to
provide
companionship
and
be
a
resource
for
learning
coding.
With
its
camera,
microphone
and
connection
to
a
cloud-based
AI,
it
can
respond
to
voice
commands
or
function
like
a
walkie-talkie(对讲?机).It
talks
like
a
chatbot
and
can
tell
bedtime
stories.
It
can
even
help
you
learn
other
languages!
Artibo
isn’t
quite
ready
for
stores
yet,
though.
It’s
part
of
a
crowdfunding
project.
Crowdfunding
is
a
program
where
you
put
a
request
online
to
a
crowd
of
people.
Supporters
can
then
pay
large
or
small
amounts
to
help
you
finish
a
project.
Artibo
will
first
be
available
to
people
who
have
paid
to
help
bring
it
into
production.
Using
computer
code
to
program
your
own
toys
is
nothing
new.
LEGO
first
released
a
robot
kit
in
1998.
Since
then,
programmable
robots
have
become
one
of
the
best-selling
units
in
the
LEGO
product
line.
Programming
robots
might
sound
comparable
to
rocket
science,
but
anyone
can
program
one
using
nothing
more
than
a
tablet
or
a
smartphone
and
code
blocks.
Code
blocks
allow
you
to
program
simple
or
complex
commands
by
assembling
visual
blocks
of
code
on
the
canvas
(?画?布?)of
a
computer
screen.
Just
drag
and
drop
a
variety
of
code
blocks
from
a
programming
menu,
link
them
together,
and
watch
how
your
robot
responds.
In
Artibo’s
case
coding
doesn’t
stop
there.
Unlike
other
similar
programmable
toys,
Artibo
will
also
allow
you
to
write
your
own
code.
So
as
your
familiarity
with
coding
increases,
you
won’t
lose
interest
in
Artibo.
21.According
to
the
passage,
the
purpose
of
developing
Artibo
is???
.
A.helping
people
learn
anything
they
want
and
providing
companionship
B.providing
a
robot
that
can
move,
accompany
and
help
people
learn
coding
C.chatting
with
people,
telling
bedtime
stories
and
supplying
languages
D.helping
people
raise
money
on
line
and
creating
programmable
robots
22.What
can
be
concluded
from
the
passage?
A.Programming
robots
is
not
really
complicated.
B.Programming
robots
is
advanced
like
a
rocket.
C.Programming
robots
can
be
used
in
smartphones.
D.Programming
robots
used
in
toys
is
not
new
at
all.
23.The
passage
implies
that
_______.
A.People
can
program
various
orders
even
without
code
blocks.
B.Anyone
can
control
Artibo
freely
unlike
other
programming
toys.
C.The
more
familiar
you’re
with
coding,
the
more
you’ll
like
Artibo.
D.Artibo
is
popular
in
the
world
especially
among
young
people.
B
Pinocchio
may
be
just
a
children’s
fairy
tale,
but
Spanish
scientists
at
the
University
of
Granada
recently
investigated
this
so-called
“Pinocchio
effect”
and
found
that
our
noses
don’t
grow
when
we
tell
a
lie,
but
actually
shrink
a
bit.
Dr.
Gómez
Milán
and
his
team
developed
a
lie
detector
test
that
used
thermography(体温计)to
tell
if
people
were
lying,
and
found
that
whenever
participants
in
their
research
were
being
untruthful,
the
temperature
of
the
tip
of
their
nose
dropped
up
to
1.2℃,
while
the
temperature
of
their
forehead
increased
up
to
1.5℃.
Scientist
also
found
that
drop
in
temperature
at
nose
level
actually
caused
it
to
slightly
shrink,
although
the
difference
is
undetected
by
the
human
eye.
“One
has
to
think
in
order
to
lie,
which
rises
the
temperature
of
the
forehead,”
Dr.
Gómez
Milán
explained
the
findings.
“At
the
same
time
we
feel
anxious,
which
lowers
the
temperature
of
the
nose.”
For
this
study,
researchers
asked
a
number
of
60
students
to
perform
various
tasks
while
their
temperature
is
scanned
by
technology.
One
of
these
tasks
required
making
a
3
to
4
minutes
call
to
their
parents
or
a
friend
and
telling
a
significant
lie.
Participants
had
to
make
up
the
lie
themselves
during
the
call.
Interestingly,
this
lie
detector
picked
up
the
“Pinocchio
effect”
temperature
difference
in
80
percent
of
the
test
subjects,
which
is
a
better
rate
of
success
than
that
of
any
modern
lie
detector.
“With
this
method
we
have
achieved
to
increase
accuracy”,
said
Dr.
Gómez
Milán,
who
added
that
law
enforcement
interviewers
could
one
day
combine
other
lie
detection
technology
with
thermal
imaging
to
achieve
better
results.
24.Why
does
the
writer
talk
about
Pinocchio
in
the
first
paragraph?
A.To
tell
a
fairy
tale.?B.To
give
an
example.
C.To
talk
about
a
scientist.?D.To
introduce
the
topic.
25.What
is
“Pinocchio
effect”?
A.Our
noses
will
grow
when
we
tell
a
lie.
B.Our
noses
will
shrink
when
we
tell
a
lie.
C.The
temperature
of
the
forehead
falls
if
we
lie.
D.The
temperature
of
the
student
rises
for
anxiety.
26.How
did
Dr.
Gómez
Milán
feel
about
the
lie
detector?
A.Doubtful.?B.Surprised.
C.Confident.?D.Puzzled.
27.What
lesson
can
we
learn
from
the
text?
A.A
lie
will
travel
very
hard.?B.Many
ways
to
bring
a
liar
to
light.
C.A
lie
never
lives
to
be
old.?D.Once
a
liar
always
a
liar.
C
Everyone
knows
that
death
is
natural,
but
do
you
have
any
idea
of
the
process
of
dying?
Modern
scientists
divide
the
process
of
dying
into
two
phases---clinical
or
temporary
death
and
biological
death.
Clinical
death
occurs
when
the
vital
organs,
such
as
the
heart
or
lungs,
have
ceased
to
function,
but
have
not
suffered
permanent
damage.
The
organism
can
still
be
revived(复活).
Biological
death
occurs
when
changes
in
the
organism
lead
to
the
“breaking
up”
of
vital
cells
and
tissues.
Death
is
then
unchangeable
and
final.
Scientists?have?been?seeking?a?way?to?prolong?the?period?of?clinical?death?so?that?the?organism?can?remain?alive?before?biological?death?occurs.?The?best?method?developed?so?far?involves?cooling?of?the?organism,?combined?with?narcotic?sleep.?By?slowing?down?the?body’s?metabolism(新陈代谢),?cooling?delays?the?processes?leading?to?biological?death.
To
illustrate
how
this
works,
scientists
performed
an
experiment
on
a
six-year-old
female
monkey
called
Keta.
The
scientist
put
Keta
to
sleep
with
a
narcotic.
Then
they
surrounded
her
body
with
ice-bags
and
began
checking
her
body
temperature.
When
it
had
dropped
to
28
degrees
the
scientists
began
draining
blood
from
an
artery.
The
monkey’s
blood
pressure
decreased
and
an
hour
later
both
the
heart
and
breathing
stopped:
clinical
death
set
in.
For
twenty
minutes
Keta
remained
in
this
state.
Her
temperature
dropped
to
22
degrees.
At
this
point
the
scientists
pumped
blood
into
an
artery
in
the
direction
of
the
heart
and
started
artificial
breathing.
After
two
minutes
Keta’s
heart
became
active
once
more.
After
fifteen
minutes,
spontaneous(自发的)breathing
began,
and
after
four
hours
Keta
opened
her
eyes
and
lifted
her
head.
After
six
hours,
when
the
scientists
tried
to
give
her
a
penicillin
injection,
Keta
seized
the
syringe
and
ran
with
it
around
the
room.
Her
behavior
differed
little
from
that
of
a
healthy
animal.
28.For
a
person
who
suffers
from
the
clinical
death
_________
A.he?is?still?very?much?alive.
B.?he?can?not?avoid?final?death.
C.??his?most?important?organs?are?damaged.
D.
he
still
has
the
possibility
of
getting
back
to
life.
29.
Scientists
try
to
make
the
time
of
clinical
death
longer
in
order
to
_________
A.cool?the?organism.
B.delay?the?coming?of?biological?death.
C.?slow?down?the?body’s?metabolism.
D.
bring
vital
cells
and
tissues
back
to
active
life.
30.?How?did?the?scientists?put?Keta?into?clinical?death?
A.By?putting?her?to?sleep,?lowering?her?temperature?and?draining?her?blood.
B.By?surrounding?her?body?with?ice-bags?and?draining?her?blood.
C.By?lowing?her?blood?pressure?and?stopping?her?heart?from?beating.
D.By
draining
her
blood,
lowering
her
blood
pressure
and
stopping
her
breathing.
31.All
of
the
following
indicate
that
the
monkey
has
almost
restored
to
her
original
physical
state?except
the
fact
that
_________
A.her?heart?beat?again.
B.she?rejected?a?penicillin?injection.
C.?she?regained?her?normal?breath.
D.she?acted?as?lively?as?a?healthy?monkey.

The
news
one
day
reached
Gabriel
that
Bathsheba
had
left
the
neighbourhood.
Her
abrupt
departure
is
more
emphatic
than
her
verbal
refusal
of
his
offer.
It
may
have
been
observed
that
there
is
no
regular
path
for
getting
out
of
love
as
there
is
for
getting
in.
All
that
Gabriel
learnt
of
Bathsheba’s
movements
was
done
indirectly.
It
appeared
that
she
had
gone
to
a
place
called
Weatherbury,
which,
whether
as
a
visitor
or
permanently,
he
could
not
discover.
Gabriel
had
two
dogs.
George,
the
elder,
had
originally
belonged
to
a
shepherd
(牧羊人)
of
inferior
morals
and
dreadful
temper.
Long
experience
had
so
precisely
taught
the
animal
the
difference
between
different
orders.
Though
old,
he
was
clever
and
trustworthy
still.
The
young
dog,
George’s
son,
might
possibly
have
been
the
image
of
his
mother,
for
there
was
not
much
resemblance
between
him
and
George.
He
was
learning
the
sheep-keeping
business.
So
earnest
and
yet
so
wrongheaded
was
this
young
dog
that
if
sent
behind
he
did
it
so
thoroughly
that
he
would
have
chased
them
across
the
whole
country
with
the
greatest
pleasure
if
not
called
off.
One
night,
when
Gabriel
had
returned
to
his
house,
he
called
as
usual
to
the
dogs,
previously
shutting
them
up
in
the
outhouse
till
next
morning.
Only
one
responded—old
George;
the
other
could
not
be
found.???
①???
Gabriel
then
concluded
that
the
young
one
had
not
finished
his
meal,
and
he
went
indoors
to
the
luxury
of
a
bed.
It
was
a
still
and
wet
night.
Just
before
dawn
he
was
woken
by
the
abnormal
reverberation
of
familiar
music.
To
the
shepherd,
the
note
of
the
sheep-bell
is
beating
with
unusual
violence
and
rapidity.
The
experienced
ear
of
Gabriel
knew
the
sound
was
caused
by
the
running
of
the
flock
with
great
speed.???
②???
He
jumped
out
of
bed
and
ascended
the
hill.
These
two
hundred
ewes
(female
sheep)
seemed
to
have
absolutely
vanished
from
the
hill.
Gabriel
called
at
the
top
of
his
voice:
‘Ovey,
ovey,
ovey!’
He
called
again:
the
valleys
and
furthest
hills
resounded
but
no
sheep.
He
passed
through
the
trees
and
along
the
ridge
of
the
hill.???
③???
He
advanced:
at
one
point
the
rails
were
broken
through,
and
there
he
saw
the
footprints
of
his
ewes.
The
dog
came
up,
licked
his
hand,
and
made
signs
implying
that
he
expected
some
great
reward.
Gabriel
looked
over
the
side
of
the
mountain.
The
ewes
lay
dead—a
pile
of
two
hundred
dead
bodies.?
As
far
as
could
be
learnt,
it
appeared
that
the
poor
young
dog,
still
under
the
impression
that
since
he
was
kept
for
running
after
sheep,
the
more
he
ran
after
them
the
better,
had
at
the
end
of
his
meal
off
the
dead
lamb,
which
may
have
given
him
additional
energy
and
spirits,
collected
all
the
ewes
into
a
corner
and
driven
the
timid
creatures
through
the
hedge,
breaking
down
a
portion
of
the
rotten
railing.???
④??
Gabriel
was
an
intensely
humane
man;
his
first
feeling
now
was
one
of
pity
for
the
untimely
fate
of
these
gentle
ewes
and
their
unborn
lambs.
It
was
a
second
to
remember
another
stage
of
the
matter.
All
the
savings
had
been
gone
at
a
blow;
his
hopes
of
being
an
independent
farmer
were
laid
low.
Gabriel’s
energies,
patience,
and
industry
had

coming
upon
me!”

clothes
he
stood
up
in,
and
nothing
more.
Two
months
later,
Gabriel
was
discovered

Managing
your
personal
finances
isn't
as
easy
as
it
seems.Rising
prices
and
an
uncertain
economic
climate
make
the
challenges
even
greater,
which
is
why
it's
important

simply
not
necessary,and

adjustments
to
ensure
that
your
money
coming
in
Is
not
overshadowed
by
the
money

goes
out
over
the
course

personal
financial
advisor
is
essential
if

is
essential
when
it
comes

a
final
decision
between

larger
the
cost
value,the
more
important
that
decision
becomes.
The
most
important
thing
is
being
honest
with
yourself
about
your
current
situation.
40
?And
then
you'll
stand
a
much
better
chance
of
being
able
to
build
a
comfortable
bank
balance
that
will
protect
your
future.
A.Look
for
specialists
in
your
area
of
interest.
B.That's
where
your
initial
cost
analysis
will
come
in
handy.

can
be
very
tricky
to
weigh
up
the
cost
benefits
of
either

or
buying
goods
and

be
a
complicated

you
are
spending
your
money
can

hugely
beneficial

all
of
your
decisions
much
easier.

Bob
started
to
stand
up
and
knocked
into
the
table,
spilling
his
coffee
over
his
notes.
''How
embarrassing!
I
am

clumsy(笨拙的)
in
my

''
Everyone
had
a
good
laugh,
and
soon
we
were
all
telling
stories
of
our
most
embarrassing
moments.
It
came
around
to
Frank,
who
sat
quietly
listening
to
the
others.
Someone
said,
''Come
on,
Frank.
Tell
us
your
most
embarrassing
moment.
''
Frank
laughed
and
began
to
tell
us
of
his
childhood.
''I
grew
up
in
San
Pedro.
My
Dad
was
a
fisherman.
He
had
his
own
boat,
but
it
was
hard
making
a

on
the
sea.
He
worked
hard
and
would
stay
out
until
he
caught
enough
to

a

Not
just
enough
for
our
family,
but
also
for
his
Mom
and
Dad
and
the
other
kids
that
were
still
at
home.
''
He
looked
at
us
and
said,
''I
wish
you
could
have
met
my
Dad.
He
was
strong
from
pulling
the
nets
and
fighting
the
seas
for
his
catch.
When
you
got
close
to
him,
he
smelled
like
the
ocean.
No
matter
how
much
my
mother
washed
his
clothes,
they
would
still
smell
of
the
sea
and
of
fish.
''
Frank's
voice
dropped
a
bit.
''When
the
weather
was
bad,
he
would
drive
me
to
school.
He
had
this
old

that
he

in
his

That

of

He
would
pull
right
up
in

and
it
seemed
like
everybody
would

Then
he
would
lean
over
and
give
me
a
goodbye
kiss
on
the

and
tell
me
to
be
a
good
boy.
It
was
so
embarrassing
for
me.
Here,
I
was
twelve
years
old.
I
was
a
big
boy
and
my
Dad
would
lean
over
and

He
paused
and
then
went
on,
''I

When
