Unit
9 单元检测
一、完形填空(30分)
My
parents
always
told
me
that
I
couldn't
dance,
because
it
was
a
girl's
sport.
But
I
never
gave
up
my
dream
of
becoming
a
dancing
star.
I
practiced
secretly,
learning
from
books,
movies,
and
shows.
However,
without
my
parents'
support,
that
__1__
seemed
all
but
impossible
to
reach.
One
summer,
my
little
sister
Maggie
was
going
to
dance
lessons.
I
immediately
asked
__2__
parents
for
permission(允许)
to
take
her
to
the
lessons.
What
a
__3__
chance
to
learn
dancing!
One
afternoon,
I
was
practicing
a
new
dance
in
my
room
when
Maggie
walked
__4__.
“What's
the
matter,
Maggie?”
I
stopped
__5__.
“Denis,
you
are
a
great
dancer!
Can
you
help
me?”
“What
is
it?”
I
wondered.
“There'll
be
a
dancing
performance
in
my
school,
__6__
the
boys
think
I'm
slow,
and
none
of
them
wants
to
be
my
partner.
__7__
you
dance
with
me
for
it?”
She
looked
at
me
anxiously.
“You
can
be
a
good
dancer!”
I
encouraged
her.“Let's
show
those
people
that
they
have
been
__8__
all
along.”
In
the
following
months,
we
__9__
every
evening,
hiding
from
my
parents.
I
was
having
a
fantastic
time
and
__10__
Maggie
improved
a
lot.
Finally
came
the
big
day.I
became
__11__
when
I
heard
my
parents
would
come
to
watch
the
performance.
As
the
__12__
began,
I
took
a
deep
breath
and
tried
to
calm
down.
We
moved
perfectly,
shining
with
pride.
From
the
cheering
of
the
crowd,
I
was
sure
we
had
__13__.
My
heart
was
beating
wildly
when
I
saw
my
__14__
coming
towards
me.
He
put
his
hand
on
my
shoulder.“Well
done,
Son.
Though
it
is
hard
for
me
to
admit
it,
you
really
looked
like
you
__15__
this
stage(舞台).Go
for
it
and
make
us
proud.”
I'd
been
waiting
for
this
moment
for
so
long.
I
knew
that
the
road
ahead
wasn't
going
to
be
easy,
but
I
wouldn't
give
up.I
wanted
nothing
more
in
life
than
to
dance.

二、阅读理解(20分)
Do
you
like
listening
to
music?
Do
you
often
turn
up
the
music
when
you're
using
earphones?
If
so,
your
hearing
may
have
been
damaged(损坏).
The
World
Health
Organization(WHO)
is
worried
that
1.1
billion
children
and
young
people
are
damaging
their
hearing
by
listening
to
loud
music.
Nearly
half
the
young
people
in
developed
countries
may
lose
their
hearing
because
of
the
“unsafe
use”
of
music
players,
including
smartphones.
Loud
music
in
nightclubs,
parties
and
at
sports
also
make
it
worse.
The
WHO
advises
young
people
to
listen
to
music
for
just
one
hour
a
day.
Dr.Etienne
Krug
told
BBC,“What
we're
trying
to
do
is
to
draw
people's
attention
to
a
problem
that
is
not
talked
about
enough.”
He
said
it's
easy
to
solve
this
problem.
Dr.
Krug
said
keeping
the
music
down
and
limiting(限制)
the
listening
time
to
less
than
one
hour
a
day
would
save
a
lot
of
people's
hearing.
However,
he
also
said,“Even
an
hour
can
be
too
much
if
the
music
is
too
loud.”
Ralph
Holme,
a
researcher,
explained
how
loud
noise
can
damage
ears.
He
said,“Loud
sounds
damage
your
hearing
by
killing
off
thousands
of
little
hair
cells(细胞)
in
the
inner
ear.
The
cells
can
tell
different
sounds
through
vibration(振动).
But
they
are
very
fragile—they
get
damaged
easily
and
even
die
if
they
vibrate
too
much
because
of
loud
sounds
for
too
long.”
He
warned,“The
bigger
problem
is:
They
don't
grow
back
and
the
ear
can
no
longer
get
sound.”
No
one
wants
to
lose
their
hearing!
Therefore,
next
time
when
you
listen
to
music,
make
sure
it's
not
too
loud
and
to
only
listen
for
less
than
an
hour.
You
can
enjoy
your
music
much
better
in
this
way.
( )16.How
are

and

going
to
the

C.By
listening
to
loud
music.
D.By
talking
with
friends.
( )17.How
long
does
WHO
advise
young
people
to
listen
to
music
a
day?
A.For
a
long
time.
B.For
just
one
hour.
C.For
half
of
the
day.
D.For
more
than
one
hour.
( )18.What
does
the
word
“fragile”
in
Paragraph
3
probably
mean?
A.Weak.
B.Clever.

( )19.What
can
little

cells
be
used
for?
