B
More
students
than
ever
before
are
taking
a
gap
year
(间隔年)
before
going
to
university.
It
used
to
be
called
the
“year
off”
between
school
and
university.
The
gap-year
phenomenon
originated
(起源)
with
the
months
left
over
to
Oxbridge
applicants
between
entrance
exams
in
November
and
the
start
of
the
next
academic
year.
This
year,
25,310
students
who
have
accepted
places
in
higher
education
institutions
have
put
off
their
entry
until
next
year,
according
to
statistics
on
university
entrance
provided
by
the
University
and
College
Admissions
Service
(UCAS).
That
is
a
record
14.7%
increase
in
the
number
of
students
taking
a
gap
year.
Tony
Higgins
from
UCAS
said
that
the
statistics
are
good
news
for
everyone
in
higher
education.
“Students
who
take
a
well-planned
year
out
are
more
likely
to
be
satisfied
with,
and
complete,
their
chosen
courses.
Students
who
take
a
gap
year
are
often
more
mature
and
responsible,”
he
said.
But
not
everyone
is
happy.
Owain
James,
the
president
of
the
National
Union
of
Students
(NUS),
argued
that
the
increase
is
evidence
of
student
hardship—young
people
are
being
forced
into
earning
money
before
finishing
their
education.
“New
students
are
now
aware
that
they
are
likely
to
leave
university
up
to
£15,000
in
debt.
It
is
not
surprising
that
more
and
more
students
are
taking
a
gap
year
to
earn
money
to
support
their
study
for
the
degree.
NUS
statistics
show
that
over
40%
of
students
are
forced
to
work
during
term
time
and
the
figure
increases
to
90%
during
vacation
periods,”
he
said.
本文提到大学的学费高使得很多大学生在上大学前就要先去挣钱然后再上大学学习。这样的好处是让学生更珍惜大学的时光,更成熟并且有责任感。但是也给人们带来了思考。

Every
August,
Spain's
countryside
comes
alive
with
fiestas
(宗教节日).
But
hardly
anyone
actually
lives
here.
People
come
one
week
a
year
to
party
in
the
villages
of
their
ancestors.
During
the
other
51
weeks,
villages
are
deserted.
“There
was
a
time
when
this
place
was
growing!
But
not
anymore,”
says
Felix
Sacristan,
who's
55
and
unemployed,
living
in
his
late
grandfather's
house.
“The
only
ones
left
are
the
elderly.
There
are
lots
of
abandoned
homes.
It
makes
for
cheap
housing,”
he
says.
Like
much
of
Spain's
central
Meseta
Table
Plateau,
this
land
is
dusty
and
the
climate
is
severe.
People
say
it's
like
nine
months
of
winter
and
three
months
of
burning
hell.
“This
land
used
to
be
for
cereals
(谷物),
but
it's
difficult
to
grow
anything
else,”
Sacristan
says.
“And
who
wants
to
be
a
farmer
these
days
now,
anyway?”
In
northern
Europe,
the
Industrial
Revolution
pulled
people
to
big
cities
centuries
ago.
But
in
Spain,
that
migration
happened
much
later.
The
first
wave
occurred
after
the
Spanish
Civil
War
in
the
late
1930s;
the
second,
after
Spain's
military
governing
ended
in
the
late
1970s.
Now
there's
been
a
third
leaving,
during
the
recent
econo?
mic
crisis.
But
it's
not
just
on
Spain's
severe
central
land.
Even
villages
in
the
country's
most
fertile
northwest
region,
Galicia,
are
being
depopulated.
The
Galician
landscape
once
supported
Spain's
highest
population,
and
half
of
all
Spanish
villages
are
located
there.
Now
nearly
half
of
these
villages
are
abandoned.
“Some
of
the
places
I'm
finding
have
been
empty
for
50
or
60
years,”
Adkinson,
a
British-born
real
estate
(房地产)
agent
who
searches
the
countryside
for
abandoned
properties
and
tries
to
match
them
up
with
foreign
buyers,
says.
这是一篇说明文。文章讲了许多人涌入城市,导致西班牙许多农村遭到遗弃,所以,有人想要出售废弃的房产。

rubbish.

is
hard
to

31.Which
of
the
following
can

empty
suddenly
in

moving
to
the

A
day
in
the
life
of
18-year-old
David
Lanster
is
full
of
teenage
activities:
school,
baseball
practice,
homework.
And
then
he
starts
cooking.
“Some
nights
I'm
up
until
1
am
making
pies,
or
even
later
if
we’re
cooking
beef,”
said
the
student
at
Ransom
Everglades
High
School
in
Florida,
US.
For
the
past
year,
Lanster
and
Kelly
Moran,
his
classmate,
have
been
hosting
fancy
dinner
parties
at
Lanster's
parents'
home.
Their
meals
have
17
courses
and
are
all
made
by
themselves.
Their
guests
used
to
give
them
gifts
to
thank
them,
until
the
pair
decided
to
do
something
nice
for
charity.
“We
got
some
really
great
Miami
Heat
tickets,
a
nice
watch,
and
many
kitchen
machines,”
Lanster
said.
“But
we
wanted
to
make
this
something
positive
for
people
rather
than
us.”
Lanster
and
Moran
focused
on
Common
Threads,
a
charity(慈善机构)
that
helps
to
teach
kids
in
poor
neighborhood
to
cook
and
make
healthy
eating
choices.
The
young
cooks
ask
their
guests
to
give
however
much
they
want
as
payment
for
their
meals.
It
all
goes
to
Common
Threads
because
Lanster's
parents
cover
their
food
costs.
After
their
last
12-person
event,
Lanster
and
Moran
gave
$1,600
to
the
charity.
Now,
they're
taking
their
show
out
of
the
kitchen
and
on
the
road.
Lanster
and
Moran
have
started
to
organize
private
dinner
parties
in
a
similar
way:
the
host
pays
for
the
ingredients
(食材),
and
the
guests
make
a
donation
(捐赠)
to
a
charity.
Outside
the
kitchen,
the
two
are
busy
preparing
their
college
applications.
Neither
is
sure
what
they
will
do
in
the
future,
but
they've
promised
their
parents
that
they'll
leave
cooking
alone
until
they
finish
high
school.

Kelly
Moran热衷于厨艺,并以举办私人晚宴的方式来为慈善团体筹款的故事。

第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
For
a
bird,
to
fly
hundreds
or
thousands
of
miles
each
spring
and
fall
is
a
difficult
and
dangerous
journey,
one
that
not
all
birds
can
survive.
__36__
There
is
more
than
one
single
reason
for
different
birds
to
migrate,
but
it
all
comes
down
to
survival.
Birds
are
migrating
for
a
meal.
For
all
birds,
one
of
the
main
driving
forces
behind
migration
is
food.
If
all
birds
were
to
stay
in
the
same
places
year-round,
food
there
would
become
not
enough.
__37__
But
as
the
food
supplies
decrease
in
the
fall,
they
return
to
the
southern
areas.
__38__
Over
millions
of
years,
birds
have
developed
different
migration
patterns,
times
and
destinations.
This
helps
birds
take
advantage
of
a
wide
variety
of
suitable
conditions
to
raise
their
young,
which
increases
the
survival
chances
of
the
young
birds.
Birds
are
migrating
because
of
climate
changes.
Changes
in
climate
can
affect
migration.
Many
birds
leave
the
Arctic
for
example,
when
temperatures
begin
to
fall.
They
need
warmer
habitats.
Similarly,
the
hottest
regions
can
be
an
unpleasant
environment
for
raising
young
birds.
__39__
Birds
are
migrating
because
of
predators.
Habitats
that
have
rich
food
sources
also
attract
a
greater
number
of
predators
who
may
kill
birds.
__40__
Many
birds
even
migrate
to
specialized
habitats
that
are
nearly
inaccessible
to
predators,
such
as
coastal
cliffs
or
rocky
offshore
islands.
A.So
why
do
birds
migrate
(迁徙)?
B.Birds
are
migrating
for
their
young.
C.So
how
do
young
birds
migrate?
D.Birds
are
migrating
because
of
diseases.
E.It
is
beneficial
to
lay
eggs
further
north
in
cooler

Oh,
what

our

M:How

the

for
our
mother's
birthday
party
going?
W:Very
well.
We
started
organizing
everything
early
to
ensure
the
party
run
smoothly.
The
only
thing
that
isn't
ready
yet
is
the
birthday
cake.
M:When
will
that
be
ready?
W:It
will
be
ready
just
on
the
day
of
her
birthday
to
make
sure
it's
fresh.
M:Her
birthday
is
in
two
weeks,
so
that
should
be
OK.
So
everything
has
been
well
prepared.
W:Yes.
What
gift
will
you
buy
for
her?
I've
bought
her
a
coat
and
your
brother
Tom
will
buy
her
some
flowers.
Our
daughter
has
made
a
card.
M:Oh,
I've
collected
all
the
pictures
of
the
family
and
I
plan
to
make
a
photo
album.
W:Wow,
that
will
be
a
big
surprise
for
mother!
M:Yes,
so
which
restaurant
will
the
party
be
held
at?
W:The
Palace
Restaurant.
They'll
take
care
of
everything
including
the
birthday
cake.
I'm
sure
they
will
do
a
good
job.
M:Oh,
yes.
It's
an
excellent
restaurant.
A
friend
of
mine
had
a
wedding
ceremony
there,
and
she
said
it
was
perfect,
though
very
expensive.
W:Yes,
but
we
think
it
will
be
worth
it.
The
people
there
are
all
experienced.
M:I
think
you've
made
the
right
decision.

答案:D
B
More
students
than
ever
before
are
taking
a
gap
year
(间隔年)
before
going
to
university.
It
used
to
be
called
the
“year
off”
between
school
and
university.
The
gap-year
phenomenon
originated
(起源)
with
the
months
left
over
to
Oxbridge
applicants
between
entrance
exams
in
November
and
the
start
of
the
next
academic
year.
This
year,
25,310
students
who
have
accepted
places
in
higher
education
institutions
have
put
off
their
entry
until
next
year,
according
to
statistics
on
university
entrance
provided
by
the
University
and
College
Admissions
Service
(UCAS).
That
is
a
record
14.7%
increase
in
the
number
of
students
taking
a
gap
year.
Tony
Higgins
from
UCAS
said
that
the
statistics
are
good
news
for
everyone
in
higher
education.
“Students
who
take
a
well-planned
year
out
are
more
likely
to
be
satisfied
with,
and
complete,
their
chosen
courses.
Students
who
take
a
gap
year
are
often
more
mature
and
responsible,”
he
said.
But
not
everyone
is
happy.
Owain
James,
the
president
of
the
National
Union
of
Students
(NUS),
argued
that
the
increase
is
evidence
of
student
hardship—young
people
are
being
forced
into
earning
money
before
finishing
their
education.
“New
students
are
now
aware
that
they
are
likely
to
leave
university
up
to
£15,000
in
debt.
It
is
not
surprising
that
more
and
more
students
are
taking
a
gap
year
to
earn
money
to
support
their
study
for
the
degree.
NUS
statistics
show
that
over
40%
of
students
are
forced
to
work
during
term
time
and
the
figure
increases
to
90%
during
vacation
periods,”
he
said.
本文提到大学的学费高使得很多大学生在上大学前就要先去挣钱然后再上大学学习。这样的好处是让学生更珍惜大学的时光,更成熟并且有责任感。但是也给人们带来了思考。

in
length.
B.It
is
a
time
for
relaxation.
C.It
is
increasingly
popular.
D.It
is

their
future
jobs
C.are
more
likely
to
leave
university
in
debt
D.have
a
better
chance
to
enter
top

Owain
James
feel
about
the
gap-year
phenomenon?

Every
August,
Spain's
countryside
comes
alive
with
fiestas

But
hardly
anyone
actually
lives
here.
People

in
the
villages
of
their

During
the
other
51
weeks,
villages
are
deserted.
“There

But
not
anymore,”
says
Felix
Sacristan,
who's
55
and
unemployed,
living
in
his
late
grandfather's
house.
“The
only
ones
left
are
the
elderly.
There
are
lots
of
abandoned
homes.
It
makes

he
says.
Like
much
of
Spain's
central
Meseta
Table
Plateau,
this
land
is
dusty
and
the
climate
is
severe.
People
say
it's

nine

three
months
of
burning
hell.
“This
land
used
to
be
for
cereals
(谷物),
but
it's
difficult
to
grow
anything
else,”
Sacristan
says.
“And
who
wants
to
be
a
farmer
these
days
now,
anyway?”
In
northern
Europe,
the
Industrial
Revolution
pulled
people
to
big
cities
centuries
ago.
But
in
Spain,
that
migration
happened
much
later.
The
first
wave
occurred
after
the
Spanish
Civil
War
in
the
late
1930s;
the
second,
after
Spain's
military
governing
ended
in
the
late
1970s.
Now
there's
been
a
third
leaving,
during
the
recent
econo?
mic
crisis.
But
it's
not
just
on
Spain's
severe
central
land.
Even
villages
in
the
country's
most
fertile
northwest
region,
Galicia,
are
being
depopulated.
The
Galician
landscape
once
supported
Spain's
highest
population,
and
half
of
all
Spanish
villages
are
located
there.
Now
nearly
half
of
these
villages
are
abandoned.
“Some
of
the
places
I'm
finding
have
been
empty
for
50
or
60
years,”
Adkinson,
a
British-born
real
estate
(房地产)
agent
who
searches
the
countryside
for
abandoned
properties
and
tries
to
match
them
up
with
foreign
buyers,
says.

in

A
day
in
the
life
of
18-year-old
David
Lanster
is
full
of
teenage
activities:
school,
baseball
practice,
homework.
And
then
he
starts
cooking.
“Some
nights
I'm
up
until
1
am
making
pies,
or
even
later
if
we’re
cooking
beef,”
said
the
student
at
Ransom
Everglades
High
School
in
Florida,
US.
For

past
year,
Lanster

Moran,
his

Their
guests

give
them
gifts
to
thank
them,

the
pair
decided
to
do
something
nice
for
charity.
“We
got
some
really
great
Miami
Heat

a
nice
watch,
and
many
kitchen
machines,”
Lanster
said.
“But
we
wanted
to
make
this
something
positive
for
people
rather
than
us.”
Lanster
and
Moran
focused
on
Common
Threads,
a
charity(慈善机构)
that
helps
to
teach
kids
in
poor
neighborhood
to
cook
and
make
healthy
eating
choices.
The
young
cooks
ask
their
guests
to
give
however
much
they
want
as
payment
for
their
meals.
It
all
goes
to
Common
Threads
because
Lanster's
parents
cover
their
food
costs.
After
their
last
12-person
event,
Lanster
and
Moran
gave
$1,600

the
charity.
Now,
they're
taking
their

of
the
kitchen
and
on
the
road.
Lanster
and
Moran
have
started

in
a
similar
way:
the
host
pays
for
the
ingredients
(食材),
and
the
guests
make
a
donation
(捐赠)
to
a
charity.
Outside
the
kitchen,
the
two
are
busy
preparing
their
college
applications.
Neither
is
sure
what
they
will
do
in
the
future,
but
they've
promised
their
parents
that
they'll
leave
cooking
alone
until

答案:C
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
For
a
bird,
to
fly
hundreds
or
thousands
of
miles
each
spring
and
fall
is
a
difficult
and
dangerous
journey,
one
that
not
all
birds
can
survive.
__36__
There
is
more
than
one
single
reason
for
different
birds
to
migrate,
but
it
all
comes
down
to
survival.
Birds
are
migrating
for
a
meal.
For
all
birds,
one
of
the
main
driving
forces
behind
migration
is
food.
If
all
birds
were
to
stay
in
the
same
places
year-round,
food
there
would
become
not
enough.
__37__
But
as
the
food
supplies
decrease
in
the
fall,
they
return
to
the
southern
areas.
__38__
Over
millions
of
years,
birds
have
developed
different
migration
patterns,
times
and
destinations.
This
helps
birds
take
advantage
of
a
wide
variety
of
suitable
conditions
to
raise
their
young,
which
increases
the
survival
chances
of
the
young
birds.
Birds
are
migrating
because
of
climate
changes.
Changes
in
climate
can
affect
migration.
Many
birds
leave
the
Arctic
for
example,
when
temperatures
begin
to
fall.
They
need
warmer
habitats.
Similarly,
the
hottest
regions
can
be
an
unpleasant
environment
for
raising
young
birds.
__39__
Birds
are
migrating
because
of
predators.
Habitats
that
have
rich
food
sources
also
attract
a
greater
number
of
predators
who
may
kill
birds.
__40__
Many
birds
even
migrate
to
specialized
habitats
that
are
nearly
inaccessible
to
predators,
such
as
coastal
cliffs
or
rocky
offshore
islands.
A.So
why
do
birds
migrate
(迁徙)?
B.Birds
are
migrating
for
their
young.
C.So
how
do
young
birds
migrate?
D.Birds
are
migrating
because
of
diseases.
E.It
is
beneficial
to
lay
eggs
further
north
in
cooler
areas.
F.Birds
that
migrate
to
different
habitats
can
avoid
being
eaten
by
predators.
G.As
food
sources
are
rich
in
the
north
each
spring,
millions
of
birds
migrate
from
south
to
those

本文为说明文。文章主要叙述了鸟类迁徙的几点原因:为了觅食,为了养育幼鸟、气候原因及避免被捕食。
36.A 解析:根据本空格的上文可知,鸟在春天和秋天要迁徙,在迁徙过程中并非所有的鸟都能生存下来。空后的内容说“鸟类迁徙原因不止一个”可知,此空格是指“鸟类为什么要迁徙?”。分析选项可知A项符合题意,故选A。
37.G 解析:本小题所在小标题为“鸟儿迁徙是为了觅食”。结合空前的内容“对所有鸟类来说,迁徙背后的主要驱动力之一是食物。如果所有的鸟一年到头都待在同一个地方,那里的食物就会变得不足”。以及下句“但是随着秋季食物供应的减少,它们又回到了南部地区”。由句中的转折连词but及the
fall
可知,与fall相反的是春季,每年春天北方的食物丰富,鸟儿从南方迁徙到北方。分析选项可知,G项符合题意,故选G。
38.B 解析:分析选项可知,本空格是下一段的主旨。下一段讲述的是鸟类的迁徙有很多的模式,它们利用各种各样的适宜条件来养育幼鸟,以此增加了幼鸟的生存机会,即为养育幼鸟而迁徙,故选B项。
39.E 解析:本空格前说气候影响鸟的迁徙。在气温下降时,鸟离开北极到温暖的地方栖息。同样,最热的地方也不适宜喂养幼鸟。可知不太冷也不太热的地方即较凉爽的地方适合产卵。分析选项可知E项符合题意,故选E。
40.F 解析:本段的小标题为“鸟类因捕食者而迁徙”。分析选项可知F项(迁徙到不同栖息地的鸟类可以避免被捕食者吃掉)符合题意,故选F。

65.considered
解析:考查谓语动词。句意:20%的人认为在高档餐馆吃饭是他们生活中最好的美食。分析句子结构可知,本空格在句中作谓语,根据前面的语境可知,叙述的是过去的事,因此要用一般过去时,故填considered。

the

70.to_eat
解析:考查固定用法。句意:如果世界上最好的厨师选择吃什么最好,他们会选择麦当劳或肯德基。根据语境可知,本空格是“特殊疑问词+
