I remember that I used to rebel(反抗)against many dos and don’ts my parents told me. For example, when I kept on listening to jazz on the record player, my father used to consider it noise and replace it with classical music, which I always felt dull. My mom and dad were also very particular about the friends I made with, and always quoted the well-known sentence—one rotten apple could ruin a whole barrel of apples. These wre just a few examples of the things I thought my parents were unreasonable about.
Today, however, I am the father of a boy of 15, and I find that I am pressuring my son with a lot of rules and regulations that he seems to find hard to follow too. One day, I noticed that my son’s hair was too long, so I told him to go to the barber’s and get it cut short. Ordinarily, he will do what he is told to, but this time he put his foot down. “What’s wrong with my long hair ” he said. “Most of my friends have long hair. And besides, it’s my own hair, isn’t it I don’t think you have the right to order me to cut it short, even if you’re my father!”
When I was a boy, if I had spoken to my father in that way, he would have taught me a lesson. But I suddenly realize that we are now living in a more liberal world, and my son’s insistence on wearing his hair long is merely an instance of the generation gap that exists between us. Finally, I agree to it, so he still wears his hair long.

【1】We're increasingly living in a world where physical activity has stopped being a day-to-day part of our lives. We have domestic appliances to wash and dry for us and cars to get us around, and with the decline in manual labour many of us spend our working day sitting at desks.
【2】 In fact, there's a well-established theory that moderate physical activity is, for most people, the best way to better health. If you start off doing too much too soon, you'll get fed up and stop, get injured or even make yourself ill. So what's the right amount of exercise to get fit and healthy without injuring yourself in the process

【5】You don't have to do the whole 30 minutes in one go. Your half-hour could be made up of three ten-minute bursts of activity spread through the day, if you prefer.
【6】The activity can be a 'lifestyle activity' (in other words, walking to the shops or taking the dog out) or structured exercise or sport, or a combination of these. But it does need to be of at least moderate intensity.
【7】People who are at specific risk from obesity, or who need to manage their weight because of a medical condition, need 45-60 minutes of exercise at least five times a week.

One day, after school was over, Li Ming and Wang Ping were walking in the street when they suddenly saw an old man fall off his bucycle. One of the old man’s legs was injuried and it was bleeding. Many people crowded around him. Someone suggested the old man be taken somewhere in the shade of trees. But Li Ming strongly disagreed. He had learned some knowledge about first aid before. He said that they ought to leave the old man where he was and check him.
Now the old man was not breathing. Li Ming asked Wang Ping to telephone the First Aid Centre and he tried to start the old man’s breathing using the mouth-to-mouth way. Another young worker helped to stop the bleeding. Within ten minutes, the old man began to move a little and the doctors and nurses from the First Aid Centre arrived. They all said what Ling Mi ng did was right.
