A
few
years
ago,
when
I
began
writing
about
education,
school
leaders
didn't
worry
much
about
teachers.
They
believed
a
long
line
of
new
teachers
waited.
Not
any
longer,
as
districts
struggle
to
fill
math,
science,
world
language
and
special
education
jobs.
A
2017
Learning
Policy
Institute
study
found
90
percent
of
open
teaching
posts
were
the
result
of
people
leaving
the
profession.
While
retirements
played
a
role,
the
report
noted
two?thirds
of
teachers
departed
for
other
reasons,
most
saying
dissatisfactions
with
the
job.
How
can
districts
support
teachers
and
persuade
new
ones
to
enter
the
field?
Education
professor
Peter
Smagorinsky
said,
“The
best
way
I
know
of
to
support
teachers
is
to
listen
to
them.
Teachers
know
better
than
anyone
how
schools
work,
what
kids
need,
what
teachers
need
to
do
their
best
work.
But
kids
and
teachers
won't
always
agree,
and
you
will
get
opposite
suggestions.
But
at
least
they
feel
recognized,
consulted,
listened
to,
and
respected.”
At
Atlanta's
top?rated
(一流的)
Grady
High
School,
principal
Betsy
Bockman
said,
“What
I
try
to
inform:
Firstly,
everyone's
job
is
to
do
all
we
can
every
day
to
support
students.
Secondly,
for
the
employees
who
are
not
teachers
at
Grady,
our
job
is
to
remove
every
single
barrier
that
keeps
teachers
from
teaching.
Make
the
job
of
teaching
easier.”
Vice?president
Gary
McGiboney
said,
“Teachers
develop
well
in
a
school
with
a
positive
school
climate
where
they
don't
feel
alone,
which
is
what
teachers
desperately
want
and
need.”
My
own
view
is
that
most
want
to
do
their
best
for
their
students,
but
often
feel
attacked
when
told
they
need
to
improve.
To
grow,
develop
and
keep
effective
teachers,
Georgia
schools
must
first
create
a
culture
in
which
teachers
trust
that
leaders
want
them
to
succeed.
这是一篇说明文。面对大量教师离职这个现象,文章分析了其原因,并且介绍了留住教师的方法。
4.Why
do
too
many
teachers
leave
their
profession?
A.The
leaders
don't
care
about
them.
B.There
are
too
many
trained
teachers.
C.Most
aren't
satisfied
with
their
jobs.
D.Many
teachers
have
already
retired.
5.What
does
principal
Betsy
Bockman
try
to
tell
us?
A.The
school's
whole
effort
is
to
make
teaching
easier.
B.Schools
should
listen
to
the
teachers'
suggestions.
C.What
the
teachers
want
should
be
concerned
by
others.
D.School
leaders
must
show
respect
for
the
teachers'
thoughts.
6.What
is
the
purpose
of
the
last
part
of
the
text?
A.To
show
the
author's
concern
for
the
teachers.
B.To
criticize
the
state
of
Georgia's
education.
C.To
ask
the
teachers
to
do
their
best
for
the
students.
D.To
call
on
the
school
to
create
a
culture
for
the
teachers.
7.What
does
the
passage
mainly
talk
about?
A.Why
the
schools
are
short
of
good
teachers.
B.How
to
keep
enough
and
effective
teachers.
C.What
we
should
do
to
teach
the
students
well.
D.How
to
deal
with
teacher?student
relationship.
C
March
3
marks
World
Hearing
Day.
This
year's
theme
is
“Check
your
hearing!”
Many
experts
and
health
organizations,
including
those
who
pay
attention
to
the
hearing?impaired
(听力障碍),
are
working
to
help
people
realize
the
importance
of
protecting
their
hearing
and
avoid
hearing
loss.
When
we
talk
about
music,
what
kind
of
feelings
does
it
bring?
Excitement...and
relaxation.
But
what
if
the
music
lasts
for
hours?
We
interviewed
a
group
of
musicians
based
in
Beijing
during
the
weekend.
They
all
said
that
hours
of
exposure
to
loud
music
can
cause
discomfort.
One
added
that
band
members
like
to
play
at
maximum
volume
(音量)
and
forget
the
harm
that
loud
music
can
cause.
The
same
thing
not
only
occurs
to
musicians.
It's
also
not
rare
for
daily
users
since
listening
to
loud
music
on
loud
sound
equipment
has
become
a
part
of
modern
life.
According
to
the
WHO,
the
practice
has
put
more
than
a
billion
people
around
the
world,
aged
12?35,
at
risk
of
losing
their
hearing.
We
also
interviewed
some
headphone
users
in
the
street,
and
most
of
them
said
that
they
are
not
heavy
users
but
admitted
they
use
headphones
for
hours
on
the
subway
and
in
the
office
or
home.
It's
easy
for
these
people
to
gradually
increase
the
volume
without
awareness,
especially
in
a
noisy
environment.
Often,
headphone
users
fail
to
realize
they're
listening
to
audio
at
unsafe
levels
until
serious
hearing
problems
suddenly
occur.
There
are
many
reasons
for
hearing
loss,
including
loud
acoustic
(听觉的)
sources,
drug
abuse,
and
diseases.
Experts
suggest
frequent
medical
checks
and
prevention
measures.
Whether
congenital
(先天的)
or
acquired,
loss
of
hearing
is
usually
irreversible.
“Once
the
hearing
loss
occurs,
it's
already
too
late
to
be
changed
back
to
what
it
was
before,”
said
Yang
Shiming,
expert
of
the
Chinese
PLA
General
Hospital.
“Early
prevention,
early
identification
and
early
treatment.
If
everyone
could
do
these
things,
hearing
loss
and
its
harm
could
be
kept
to
a
minimum,”
Yang
said.
Of
course,
this
applies
to
every
one
of
us.

medicines.

sound
pollution.

headphones.
9.What
does
Yang
Shiming
advise
people
to
do
about

loss?

of
drug
abuse.

ahead
of
time.
C.Stop
playing
music
in
bands.

music
with

Violette
Childe,
67,
is
a
dining
companion
who
helps
serve
patients
lunches.
The
role
was
introduced
ten
years
ago
by
a
dietitian
concerning
that
some
patients
were
not
eating
their
meals.
“Many
of
our
patients
are
elderly
and
can
be
confused
by
the
noisy,
busy
environment
of
the
hospital
and
so
won't
focus
on
eating.”
explains
Yvonne
Donglas?Morris,
head
of
volunteering,
who
oversees
the
activities
of
all
528
of
the
trusty
volunteers.
“Staff
are
busy
with
the
clinical
side
of
things,
so
the
dining
companions
were
introduced.
They
will
assist
the
patients
and
encourage
them
to
eat.”
Violette,
a
retired
library
manager,
has
been
helping
out
for
six
years.
“It
makes
me
feel
a
bit
more
complete,”
she
says
simply.
“Helping
with
the
meals
frees
up
the
nurses
to
get
on
with
other
things.
I
believe
in
being
a
part
of
the
community
and
this
hospital
is
part
of
my
community.”
Another
key
role
is
played
by
the
discharge
volunteers,
who
offer
support
to
the
elderly,
especially
those
aged
70
and
over—leaving
hospital
to
return
to
an
empty
home.
The
team
has
a
budget
of
£10
per
person
and
will
pop
to
the
shops
and
buy
milk,
bread
and
a
meal
to
tide
them
over
for
the
first
few
hours.
They
then
call
the
patients
regularly,
for
as
long
as
they
need,
to
check
how
they
are
getting
on
and
if
they
need
extra
support.
The
volunteers
in
Kingston
work
from
a
dedicated
office—a
small
room
in
one
of
the
buildings
on
the
hospital
grounds,
where
a
Christmas
tree
decorated
with
baubles
(小饰物)
bearing
the
faces
of
volunteers
sits
in
the
corner.
“All
the
volunteers
come
and
gather
here,
it
gets
very
busy
at
times,”
smiles
Nicola
Hutin,
67,
a
discharge
support
volunteer.
A
mother
of
two,
and
grandmother
of
four,
she
was
a
membership
coordinator
(协调员)
for
a
trade
association
until
she
retired,
and
has
since
volunteered
at
the
hospital
one
morning
a
week
for
18
months.

consider
buying
a
little

and
freezing
them.

there
are
ways
to
stretch
your
dollar
further
without
hurting
your

A.Store
pre?made
items.
B.Skip
the
prepared

C.Shopping
for
groceries
can
be
an
expensive
attempt.
D.Beef
has

past
few
years.
E.The
cost
can
add
up
quickly
if
you're

March

World
Hearing
Day.
This
year's
theme
is
“Check
your
hearing!”
Many
experts
and
health
organizations,
including
those
who
pay
attention
to
the
hearing?impaired
(听力障碍),
are
working
to
help
people
realize
the
importance
of
protecting
their
hearing
and
avoid
hearing
loss.
When
we
talk
about
music,
what
kind
of
feelings
does
it
bring?
Excitement...and
relaxation.
But
what
if
the
music
lasts
for
hours?
We
interviewed
a
group
of
musicians
based
in
Beijing
during
the
weekend.
They
all
said
that
hours
of
exposure
to
loud
music
can
cause
discomfort.
One
added
that
band
members
like
to
play
at
maximum
volume
(音量)
and
forget
the
harm
that
loud
music
can
cause.
The
same
thing
not
only
occurs
to
musicians.
It's
also
not
rare
for
daily
users
since
listening
to
loud
music
on
loud
sound
equipment
has
become
a
part
of
modern
life.
According
to
the
WHO,
the
practice
has
put
more
than
a
billion
people
around
the
world,
aged
12?35,
at
risk
of
losing
their
hearing.
We
also
interviewed
some
headphone
users
in
the
street,
and
most
of
them
said
that
they
are
not
heavy
users
but
admitted
they
use
headphones
for
hours
on
the
subway
and
in
the
office
or
home.
It's
easy
for
these
people
to
gradually
increase
the
volume
without
awareness,
especially
in
a
noisy
environment.
Often,
headphone
users
fail
to
realize
they're
listening
to
audio
at
unsafe
levels
until
serious
hearing
problems
suddenly
occur.
There
are
many
reasons
for
hearing
loss,
including
loud
acoustic
(听觉的)
sources,
drug
abuse,
and
diseases.
Experts
suggest
frequent
medical
checks
and
prevention
measures.
Whether
congenital
(先天的)
or
acquired,
loss
of
hearing
is
usually
irreversible.
“Once
the
hearing
loss
occurs,
it's
already
too
late
to
be
changed
back
to
what
it
was
before,”
said
Yang
Shiming,
expert
of
the
Chinese
PLA
General
Hospital.
“Early
prevention,
early
identification
and
early
treatment.
If
everyone
could
do
these
things,
hearing
loss
and
its
harm
could
be
kept
to
a
minimum,”
Yang
said.
Of
course,
this
applies
to
every
one
of
us.

can
best
explain
“irreversible”
underlined
in
the
last
paragraph?
A.Incurable.
B.Unavailable.

解析:考查现在分词作时间状语。句意:在解释为什么十几岁的女孩如此难以抚养时,父母们谈到了她们多变的情绪。句子主语parents和explain之间是主动关系,是现在分词作时间状语,故答案为explaining。
48.faster
解析:考查比较级。根据than可知句子用比较级,故答案为faster。
49.to_handle
解析:考查动词不定式。句意:这使得女孩更难应付,因为她们更渴望独立。此处是动词不定式作状语,主动表示被动,故答案为to
handle。
50.findings
解析:考查名词复数。句意:如果你不同意这些发现,也许你应该保留你的判断,直到你有自己十几岁的孩子!根据these可知后面用名词复数,故答案为findings。
