Analysis of the Teaching Material Status and Function
This is the fifth lesson of Unit 3. It is a listening and speaking lesson.The lesson is focused on the topic of seeing a doctor.It is helpful for the students to express the sickness and learn about talking to a doctor.This lesson is very important in Unit3 and also very essential in oral English. So helping students master the key points in this lesson is critical.
Analysis of the students For the students of Grade 7, they are active,curious and interested in new things .By learning unit1 and unit 2, they get familiar with some simple English words and they can use English to describe their own feelings. So in this lesson ,the teacher should attract their attention by doing some interesting activities and also praise the students more often.Thus the students will be interested in learning English.
Teaching Aims
Knowledge Aims :
1. Master the new Words : matter, headache,medicine, rest ,stay.
Phrases: see a doctor,have a stomachache, had better, take this medicine,stay home,have a goog rest .
3. Sentence structures: How do you feel? What抯 the matter? I have a headache.
二、Ability Aims:
The students are able to talk about their sicknesses in English when seeing a doctor.
三、Moral Aims :
Key and difficult points: 一、Key points:
1).Be able to express new words, phrases and sentences in English.
(2). Be able to talk about their sickness when seeing a doctor.

How to talk with a doctor in English when they are ill .

Step1 Lead-in Ask the students “how do you feel today?”Ask some students to talk about their feelings and tell me the reason.And then let the students guess 揌ow do I feel ? And then do some actions to help them revise the new words .
(headache,stomachache,toothache,My arm hurts.)
Teach the new sentence structure:
What抯 wrong with you ?/What抯 the matter with you?
Step2. Revise new words by having a word competition . (Give them some new words that are not in order,let them spell the new words correctly)

Step3. After the competition, let them have a relax .Watch a short video about 揗r. Bean to lead them to the topic about this lesson.
Step 4. I show them some pictures to talk about :What抯 wrong with her/him? And explain some language points:
And at last have a conclusion about illnesses.
step5. Listening practice
Students listen to the tape and write True or False.
1. Jim抯 leg hurts. ( )
2. Wang Mei has a headache. ( )
3. Li Ming tells Wang Mei to go and see a doctor.
Step6:watch the video and read follow the radio.And then read the dialogues in roles:(boys and girls).And at last ask the students two questions:What抯 wrong with Jim ?What does Jenny advise him to do ?What抯 wrong with Wang Mei?
Students answer my questions with the books closed.
Step 7:Listening practice(part 2)
Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks. After checking the answers ,let the students read the dialogue again.
Dr.Green: Hi,Danny. What’s the ______________?
Danny: I feel sick.I have a ____________.
Dr. Green: Do you feel cold ?
Danny : Yes ! I feel very cold . Aachoo !
Dr.Green: Well ,let me see...You have a cold . Take this __________. ___________home and have a good rest .
Danny: OK. Thank you , Doctor Green .
Step8:Read part 1 and part2 by themselves and then match the phrases

Step9: According to the picture ,do some exercises.
Step10:Guessing game: There are three doors for them to choose ,and guess “What’s wrong with him /her ? what should he/she do?
Step11:Show time:Work in pairs. What’s the matter? Make up a dialogue.
The doctor may ask: What’s wrong?/What’s the matter?/
Are you OK?
You may tell the doctor:I hurt my…/I have a …/I feel sick/cold.
The doctor may say:Take this medicine. /Have a good rest. Stay home.
Step12: Consolidation:
Do some exercises:1. I have too much ice cream and I have a s___________.

Step13: Summary and Homework
Homework: Remember the words and phrases in this lesson. Try to make up your own dialogues.
Summary: Ask the students what we have learned today?
Then tell them,after learning this lesson,I think you have known something about health. Health is very important for us. If you want to study well,or if you want to live a happy life, or if you want to be successful, you must have a healthy body. So how to stay healthy?First, having a goo living habit is very necessary.We should go to sleep early and get up early. Second, doing sports is very important.Third, we should eat more fruit and vegetables. I hope all of us can have healthy bodies. Let’s take action from now on.That’s all .Thank you!

I use gestures to attract the students’ attention and let them
remember the words and sentence structures deeply .
Proper competition can arouse the Ss’ interests in English learning and they can remember the new words better.
The video will attract students’ attention , and it is related to the text . Then I can lead them to the text easily.
The pictures are vivid and they can understand the sentence structure easily.
It can practice their listening skills.
I use the Audio-visal teaching method . Video can make the material vivid,they will watch and listen carefully .And students can have a chance to practice their listening ability.
Design different kinds of listening exercises,from easy to difficult to train their listening skills.
Consolidate the language points.
Proper game can arouse the students interests in learning English,and consolidate what we have learned.
This step trains the students' abilities of using the knowledge we have learned today.
To consolidate what we have learned today.
Consolidate what they have learned, and practice how to talk about the illnesses in their daily life.
To help the students conclude the main contents. And help them to know the importance of keeping healthy and the ways to stay healthy.
