W:Tom,
Mike
told
me
that
your
French
dictionary
was
lost
last
week.
M:Mine
wasn't
but
Bill's
was.

W:Are
you
going
to
Chicago
tomorrow?
M:Yes.I
had
thought
I'd
drive
to
fly,
but
I
come
to
think
that
taking
a
bus
is
cheaper
and
more
convenient.
Text

W:Why
were
you
late
for
the
music
class
this
morning?
M:I'm
so
sorry.
I
went
to
bed
too
late
and
didn't
hear
the
alarm
this
morning.
W:Well,
I
hope
it
won't
happen
next
time.
Text
4
M:Excuse
me.
W:Yes.
What
can
I
do
for
you?
M:I'd
like
to
take
those
three
books
out
and
return
these.
W:OK,
but
they
should
have
been
returned
earlier.
I'll
have
to
charge
you
for
two
days.
Text
5
M:What'll
you
do
with
your
cat
when
you
leave
for
vacation?
W:Well,
I'm
having
Ken
take
care
of
it.
M:Oh,
that's
a
good
idea.
Text

W:Here
in
the
middle
with
the
beautiful
white
hair
is
my
grandmother.
We
call
her
Joy.
M:She
looks
energetic.
W:Yeah.
Here
next
to
my
grandmother
on
the
left
is
Andrew,
my
grandfather.
M:With
the
glasses?
W:Yeah.
Isn't
he
handsome?
Actually,
he
looks
pretty
good
for
someone
70
years
old.
Don't
you
think
so?
M:He
surely
does.
And
your
grandmother,
is
she
the
same
age?
W:No.
She's
five
years
younger.
M:Does
your
grandfather
still
work
in
a
company?
W:No.
He's
retired
now.
Text

M:I'm
going
to
a
job
fair
tomorrow.
W:Is
that
with
the
American
company?
M:Yes,
that's
right.
W:So
where
is
the
work
place
of
that
American
company?
M:In
London.
Since
you
are
the
experienced
one,
can
you
give
me
some
suggestions?
W:You'd
better
pay
more
attention
to
your
letter
of
application.
You
should
print
your
application
letter
on
good?quality
white
paper.
M:OK,
I
got
it.
Anything
more?
W:You'd
better
get
someone
to
check
for
spelling
and
grammatical
errors.
M:So,
can
you
help
me
to
do
this
work?
W:Of
course,
with
pleasure.
M:That's
very
kind
of
you.

W:What's
your
favourite
sport?
M:It's
difficult
to
say—I
like
many
sports
but
I
think
I
like
football
best,
because
I
can
play
in
a
team.
How
about
you?
W:I
don't
like
football.
It's
a
boy's
game,
I
think.
Jogging
is
quiet
and
relaxing.
Do
you
like
it?
M:No,
I
seldom
jog.
I
prefer
cycling
to
jogging.
I
enjoy
seeing
the
countryside.
W:I've
heard
that
you
are
also
good
at
swimming.
M:Ah,
yes.
Swimming
is
my
second
favourite.
It
gives
me
a
chance
to
have
fun
with
my
friends,
especially
in
summer.
But
in
winter
I
usually
play
table
tennis.
It's
such
good
exercise.

M:I
was
at
the
Student
Health
Services
yesterday.
They
told
me
that
my
blood
pressure
is
too
high.
W:Then
I
suppose
you
need
a
diet
to
help
bring
your
blood
pressure
down.
M:That's
right!
The
doctor
told
me
to
see
the
university
nutritionist
about
it,
so
here
I
am.
He
gave
me
this
note
for
you.
W:Let
me
see.
This
is
a
list
of
the
content
of
different
foods.
You
should
say
goodbye
to
potato
chips
and
some
meat,
such
as
pork!
M:Oh,
no.
W:Yes,
and
goodbye
to
processed
food
in
general.
But
you
can
have
almost
all
fruits
and
vegetables.
M:That
part
is
OK.
What
worries
me
is
where
to
eat.
Do
I
have
to
eat
at
the
university
hospital?
W:Not
at
all.
I
just
call
the
dining?hall
manager.
He
handles
all
sorts
of
special
menus.
M:What
if
I
want
to
go
to
a
restaurant?
W:Just
use
your
list
and
select
your
food
carefully.
M:Thanks
a
lot.
This
won't
be
nearly
as
bad
as
I'd
thought.

M:I
have
a
lovely
little
daughter.
Her
name
is
Ellen.
She
is
only
ten
years
old,
but
I
always
take
pride
in
her.
She
was
born
with
a
hearing
problem
and
a
slow
response?time
to
sounds.
She
came
home
one
spring
day
to
tell
me
she
had
competed
in
a
sports
meeting,
where
they
had
lots
of
races
and
other
competitive
events.
Because
of
her
listening
disabilities,
I
tried
to
think
of
words
to
encourage
her.
I
didn't
want
to
let
her
down.
I
have
heard
many
famous
coaches
do
so
when
athletes
are
faced
with
defeat.
But
before
I
could
speak,
she
looked
up
and
told
me
she
won
two
of
the
races
and
she
had
an
advantage.
I
couldn't
believe
it.
Ah,
I
knew
it.
She
must
have
been
given
a
head
start.
But
before
I
could
say
anything,
she
said,
“Daddy,
I
didn't
get
a
head
start...my
advantage
was
I
had
to
try
much
harder.”

第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

A
This
summer
I
volunteered
at
the
China
Conservation
and
Research
Center
for
the
Giant
Panda
in
Sichuan
and
had
a
once
in
a
lifetime
chance
to
get
within
three
feet.
Born
and
raised
in
America,
very
rarely
had
I
ever
seen
a
panda.
I
had
expected
this
moment
ever
since
my
mother
told
me
that
we
would
be
volunteering
at
the
Center.
When
my
cousin
and
I
arrived
at
the
Center
and
received
our
uniforms
and
gloves,
any
nervousness
I
had
felt
during
the
car
ride
quickly
faded
and
changed
into
excitement.
Our
first
task
was
to
clean
up
the
panda's
cage.
Although
it
was
a
boring
job,
it
was
interesting
to
be
in
the
panda's
living
area
and
see
how
big
the
animals
really
are.
Pandas
actually
fear
heat,
so
the
Center
provides
each
animal
with
an
ice
block
to
keep
it
comfortable.
When
it
was
time
to
feed
the
pandas,
the
keeper
gave
us
five
pieces
of
food
each,
which
consisted
of
bamboo,
carrots,
or
bread
to
feed
to
a
one?year?old
male.
Never
having
dreamed
of
being
so
close
to
a
panda.
I
was
delighted
by
the
action
and
after
listening
to
it
munch
(用力咀嚼)on
the
food,
hurriedly
offered
a
piece
more.
Next,
we
watched
a
video
on
China's
goal
to
help
giant
pandas
back
into
the
wild.
It
explained
China's
efforts
to
raise
them
to
increase
the
population,
and
detailed
measures
taken
to
train
the
pandas
to
enter
their
nature
reserve
once
again.
The
workers
had
to
spend
lots
of
time
teaching
the
animals
how
to
live
in
nature
and
guaranteeing
their
safety
at
all
times.
I
am
grateful
to
have
been
able
to
volunteer
for
a
day
and
will
treasure
the
experience
for
the
rest
of
my
life.

答案:C
B
I
left
England
for
Sydney
in
September.
It
was
a
career
move
for
my
husband,
and
our
20?year?old
daughter
was
feeling
adventurous
and
decided
to
come,
too.
However,
just
before
leaving
England,
my
79?year?old
mother
suffered
a
stroke
(中风).
Being
strong
and
independent,
she
continues
to
live
at
home
with
the
help
of
social
services.
But
she
couldn't
look
after
the
garden.
I
thought
how
wonderful
it
would
be
if
there
was
an
organization
offering
volunteer
help.
Friends
asked
me
what
I
planned
to
do
in
Australia,
and
I
told
them
I
would
be
looking
for
a
volunteer
position
with
a
gardening
organization.
Imagine
my
surprise
when
I
found
just
the
organization
I
had
been
looking
for—Easy
Care
Gardening
(ECG)!
There
are
several
reasons
why
I
volunteer
for
ECG.
Firstly,
as
a
newcomer
to
Australia
I
meet
many
great
people
who,
like
me,
volunteer
some
of
their
time.
We
cover
a
large
age
range,
but
all
love
gardens
and
helping
others.
Secondly,
through
working
with
ECG
I
have
been
lucky
enough
to
explore
Sydney's
North
Shore
that
I
might
not
have
had
the
opportunity
to
visit
otherwise.
Finally,
there
are
all
those
wonderful
people
who
we
call
“clients
(客户)”,
but
are
more
like
friends
when
we
visit
them
often
and
tend
their
gardens.
What
great
people
I
have
met,
and
stories
they
have
to
tell—the
family
histories,
where
they
come
from
and
the
reasons
for
immigrating
to
Australia.
I
find
it
a
privilege
to
have
access
to
private
gardens
which,
in
many
cases,
have
been
the
joy
of
their
owners
for
many
years.
Each
one
is
individual
and
reflects
the
character,
needs
and
the
history
of
each
family.
Indeed,
the
gardens
reflect
the
multicultural
and
historical
background
of
Sydney.

答案:B
25.What
made
the
author
choose
to
be
a
gardening
volunteer?
A.Her
own
experience.

popularity
of

look
after

I
thought
how
wonderful
it
would

their
owners
for
many
years.”可知,作者觉得能够进入私人花园是一种特权,在许多情况下,私人花园都是花园主人的乐趣所在。根据语境和画线词所在句的前后句子中的“gardens”可知,“one”指的就是“garden”,故选C项。

farming
is
a
major
and
preferred
industry
around
the
world.
Organically
grown
food
products
have
a
huge
market,
with
farmlands
covering
about
10%
of
the
total
world
farmland.
The
hard
work
of
Sir
Albert
Howard,
the
Father
of
Organic
Farming,
has
paid
off.
Advantages
of
Organic
Farming:
(1)
The
economics
of
organic
farming
are
characterized
by
increasing
profits
through
reduced
water
use
and
reduced
soil
erosion(侵蚀).
(2)Organic
farming
produces
the
same
crops
as
those
produced
through
traditional
farming
methods,but
uses
half
the
energy,and
holds
40%
more
top
soil.
(3)Farming
the
organic
way
enables
farmers
to
get
rid
of
weeds
without
the
use
of
any
chemicals.
(4)
The
use
of
green
pesticides
(杀虫剂)
is
environmentally
friendly
and
does
no
harm
to
human's
health.
Disadvantages
of
Organic
Farming:
(1)Organic
methods
of
farming
produce
less,compared
to
traditional
farming
techniques.
(2)Organic
agriculture
does
little
to
fight
global
climate
change.
Though
organic
farming
practices
are
recognized
as
giving
out
less
CO2,
but
not
to
a
significant
degree.
However,though
there
are
some
disadvantages
to
organic
farming,farms
where
organic
methods
for
cropping
have
been
used
have
more
advantages
than
traditional
farms.
Organic
agriculture
is
surely
better
in
the
long
term.

A.the
development
of
agriculture
B.what
kind
of

being
grown
at
present
C.why
organic
farming
is
so
popular
around
the
world
D.what
organic
farming
is
and
its
advantages
and
disadvantages
解析:写作目的题。通读全文,可知作者主要告诉了我们什么是有机农业及其优缺点。故选D项。
答案:D
D
Let
us
consider
what
we
can
do
for
the
food
problem.
The
simple
way
to
increase
food
production,
one
might
suppose,
is
to
bring
more
land
into
farmland
and
put
more
people
to
work
on
it.
But
it
is
proved
in
some
developing
countries
that
this
will
bring
some
problems.
It
will
quickly
make
the
soil
poorer
and
destroy
forest
growth.
What's
more,
the
people
there
will
always
find
they
need
more
people
to
work
on
this
land
to
produce
more
food.
During
the
past
twenty
years,
some
developing
countries
have
increased
a
lot
more
farmland
in
their
countries,
but
meanwhile
their
populations
have
grown
faster;
therefore,
they
are
further
behind
than
before.
And
their
food
increase
has
been
gained
at
the
cost
of
using
up
the
rich
lands.
Many
of
the
lands
have
become
poor
lands
and
are
producing
less
food
now.
Meantime,
farming
in
the
developed
countries
has
produced
much
more
food
through
improved
techno?logy.
Since
1940,
farmland
has
been
reduced
by
7
percent
in
the
United
States
but
grain
production
has
jumped
by
60
percent.
The
increase
in
the
corn
output,
thanks
to
hybrid
corn,
has
been
even
greater.
The
“secret”
is
to
apply
fertilizer,
in
scientific
ways,
of
course.
And
compared
to
the
developing
countries,
the
populations
in
developed
countries
have
increased
just
a
little
larger
than
twenty
years
ago.
On
the
whole,
world
population
today
is
increasing
at
the
speed
higher
than
ever
before.
Every
year
the
population
is
two
percent
larger,
so
that
the
6,000,000,000
people
on
the
earth
today
will
present
another
120,000,000
mouths
to
be
fed
by
the
time
next
year.
It
is
a
terrible
thought
that
this
time
tomorrow
there
will
be
360,000
persons
added
to
this
world
population.
What
can
we
do
about
the
increase
of
population,
or
the
lack
of
food
to
feed
such
a
large,
growing
population?
That's
a
very
important
problem
before
everyone
on
the
earth,
young
or
old,
men
or
women.

B.The
lack
of
food.
C.Poor
farmland.
D.The
increase
of
land.
解析:细节理解题。根据文章最后一段的内容可知,食物短缺是当今摆在世人面前的一大难题。故B项正确。
答案:B
33.What
can
we
conclude
from
the
agriculture
history
in
the
US?

there
is.
B.The
richer
a
country
is,
the
richer
it
will
become.
C.Science
will
be
helpful
in
feeding
the
world
population.
D.Developing
countries
cannot
settle
their
food
problem.
解析:细节理解题。由第五段前两句“Meantime,
farming
in
the
developed
countries...but
grain
production
has
jumped
by
60
percent.”可知先进的技术在增加粮食产量方面作用巨大。
答案:C
34.The

farmland
B.everyone
realizes
how
serious
the
problem
is
C.pollution

D.Science
and
technology
in
food
production
解析:标题归纳题。本文主要讲述了如何解决世界上的食物短缺问题。A项只提出了食物短缺问题,概括不全面;B项离话题太远;D项说明了科技在食物问题上的作用,概括不全面。故C项正确。

本文是一篇说明文,就旅行时如何进行自我保护提出一些建议。
36.F 解析:空处上文提到,夏天是放松的最佳时间,如果你准备去旅行,这里有一些关于如何保护你自己的建议,并且下文是具体的建议。因此F项“它们对于避免旅行后带着大病回来是有必要的”,在这里起到承上启下的作用,符合语境,故选F项。
37.A 解析:本空为段落标题。根据下文可知,本段讲述的是在一些欠发达的国家,制造干净的水的设备比较少,所以你要自己做一些准备,由此可知应选A项。
38.G 解析:根据本段标题Always
protect
your
feet
以及空后的You
should
never
walk
barefoot
可知,本段主要讲述的是在旅途中要保护自己的脚,故G项“寄生虫可以进入你脚部的皮肤,并到达身体的不同部位”符合语境。
39.B 解析:根据本段标题Be
sure
to
eat
safe
fruits
以及空处后一句They
may
have
been
washed
in
the
same
water,

阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
The
Last
Robot?Proof
Job
in
America?
You
can
get
most
food,
such
as
warm
cookies
or
vodka,
to
your
doorstep
in
minutes.
But
try
getting
a
red
snapper
(红鲷鱼).
Until
recently,
if
you
could
obtain
it,
it
would
likely
have
been
pre?frozen
and
shipped
in
from
overseas.
A
new
tech
startup
is
aiming
to
__41__
this
situation.
Based
inside
the
Fulton
Fish
Market,
a
seafood
wholesale
market,
the
startup,
called
FultonFishMarket.com,
allows
customers
across
the
whole
country,
both
restaurants
and
individuals,
to
buy
from
the
market.
The
fish
is
shipped
__42__,
rather
than
frozen,
thanks
to
an
Amazon
advanced
logistics
system.
Mike
Spindler,
the
company's
CEO,
said
recently,
“I
can
get
a
fish
to
Warren
Buffett,
which
is
as
fresh
as
if
he'd
walked
down
to
the
pier
(码头)
and
bought
it
that
morning.”
There
is
one
thing,
__43__,
that
the
sophisticated
logistics
system
cannot
do:
pick
out
a
fish.
If
Warren
Buffett
orders
a
red
snapper,
the
company
needs
to__44__
that
his
fish
is
actually
red
snapper,
and
not
some
other.
According
to
the
ocean?conservation
organization,
more
than
20%
of
the
seafood
in
restaurants
and
grocery
stores
in
America
is
__45__.
For
this
task,
the
company
has
employed
Robert
DiGregorio,
a
forty?seven?year
veteran
of
the
business,
who
possesses
a
blend
of
judgement
and
__46__
knowledge
that,
so
far,
computers
have
yet
to
replicate.
“__47__
the
food?safety
stuff,
our
business
could
be
any
market
from
the
last
three
thousand
years
of
human
history,”
Spindler
told
me.
He
is
experienced
in
the
__48__
business.
When
he
arrived
at
the
fish
market
in
2014,
people
were
cautious.
“They
thought
selling
fish
on
the
Internet
was
__49__.”
DiGregorio
said,
speaking
for
the
fishmongers(鱼贩).
“They
didn't
see
how
it
could
possibly
work.”
Five
years
ago,
DeGregorio
didn't
know
how
to
use
a
computer,
but
when
the
Web
site
people
arrived
at
the
market,
he
sensed
an
opportunity.
Together,
they've
created
a
human?machine
fish?buying
operation.
By
1
am
each
night,
the
company
collects
__50__
from
around
the
country
and
sends
them
to
DiGregorio.
He
heads
into
the
market,
carrying
his
tablet
computer.
The
company's
algorithms(算法)
__51__
data
on
their
sources
and
can
tell
DiGregorio,
for
example,
which
stall
to
go
to
get
the
best
tuna
(金枪鱼).
The
computer
is
a
“learning
system”,
so
if
DiGregorio
makes
a
choice
it
didn't
__52__,
it
asks,
“Was
the
fish
not
available?
Was
it
damaged?”
All
that
information
is
fed
back
in
for
next
time.
Then,
what
can
a
fishmonger
see
that
a
computer
can't?
DeGregorio
showed
me
his
part
of
the
__53__
process.
“I'm
assessing
a
few
things,”
he
said.
First,
__54__.
Fish
should
have
“nice”
slime(粘液).
Then,
smell.
He
sniffed
the
air
above
the
box.
“When
fish
goes
bad,
it
smells
like
ammonia.”
Besides,
to
get
the
best
stuff,
“Fishmongers
have
to
have
a
relationship
with
you.
To
trust
you.”
He
added.
Is
he
ever
__55__
being
replaced
by
the
learning
system
of
computers?
DiGregorio
shrugged.
“By
the
time
they
invent
a
computer
that
can
do
what
I
can
do,”
he
said,
“I'll
be
dead.”

B.process
C.predict
D.value
解析:考查动词词义辨析。句意:所以如果迪格雷戈里奥做出了一个它没有预料到的选择,它会问,“鱼是不是没有了?是损坏了吗?”所有这些信息都将反馈给下一次。A.require要求;B.process处理;C.predict预测;D.value重视。空前说电脑是一个学习系统,所以如果做出了一个它没有预料到的选择,它会问一些问题,故C项正确。
答案:C
53.A.calculation
B.decoding
C.correction
D.selection
解析:考查名词词义辨析。句意:迪雷戈里奥向我展示了他在挑选过程中所扮演的角色。A.calculation计算;B.decoding解码;C.correction改正;D.selection选择。上文说迪格雷戈里奥是负责正确挑出顾客订购的鱼,因此此处指“挑选过程”,故D项正确。
答案:D
54.A.smash
B.touch
C.wipe
D.roll
解析:考查动词词义辨析。句意:首先,触摸,鱼应该有“好”的黏液。A.smash撞击;B.touch触摸;C.wipe擦;D.roll滚动。空后说鱼应该有“好”的黏液,因此此处指“用手摸鱼”,故B项正确。
答案:B
55.A.concerned
about
B.eager
for
C.delighted
with
D.capable
of
解析:考查形容词短语辨析。句意:他担不担心被电脑学习系统取代?
A.concerned
about担心;B.eager
for渴望;C.delighted
with对……感到高兴;D.capable
of能够。空后迪格雷戈里奥耸耸肩说,“当他们发明一台能做我能做的事情的电脑时,我就死定了。”因此此处指“是否担心被电脑学习系统取代”,故A项正确。
答案:A

本文是说明文,论述了全球变暖对气候变化造成的影响。
56.a
解析:a
lot
是固定结构,在此修饰比较级more
likely,意为“……地多”。
57.killed
解析:此处是一个定语从句,且本空是从句的谓语部分,所以用动词形式。由时间状语in
2003可知,谓语动词应用一般过去时态。
58.published
解析:publish
作study
的后置定语,且和study
存在逻辑上的动宾关系,故填其过去分词形式。
59.deaths
解析:extra
为形容词,其后应用名词,再由数字506可知,应填复数形式。
60.so
解析:so...that
意为“如此……以至于”。
61.to_go
解析:it
is
unsafe
to
do
sth.
意为“做某事不安全”。
62.removing
解析:设空处在句中作状语,且和主语Global
warming
是逻辑上的主谓关系,故填其动词?ing
形式。
63.worse
解析:由上下文意思以及前面的修饰词even
可知,应填比较级形式。
64.of
解析:think
of
意为“想一想”。
65.heating
解析:设空处作介词by
的宾语,故填其动词?ing
形式。

第二节:读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
The
walls
of
failure
surrounded
me.
I
saw
my
teacher's
eyes
fixed
on
my
every
move.
My
mom's
blank
expression
betrayed
one
thing:
disappointment.
“He
is
not
giving
his
full
potential,”
I
heard
my
teacher
say.
I
gazed
down,afraid,
ashamed,
and
determined.
My
determination
was
not
to
excel
and
put
my
best
effort
into
improvement;my
determination
told
me
to
give
up.
It
was
my
first
year
in
the
United
States.
I
was
a
fifth
grader,
and
everything
around
me
seemed
alien.
My
native
language
had
been
Spanish,
and
after
coming
to
the
United
States
from
Puerto
Rico
because
of
serious
family
problems,
I
just
felt
like
hiding
inside
my
metaphorical
shell.
The
school
itself
was
bright
and
very
welcoming.
The
bright
walls
with
colored
dinosaurs
and
cartoons
were
appealing,
and
the
distinct
smell
of
crayons,
play
dough,
and
chalks
made
the
place
feel
like
my
home.
Then
why
did
I
have
such
a
negative
attitude?
It
was
not
because
my
teachers
did
not
support
me.
They
were
willing
to
stay
after
school
with
me
to
help
me
learn
the
concepts.
It
was
not
because
my
classmates
did
not
want
me
there.
Most
of
them
invited
me
to
sit
with
them
at
lunch.
It
was
not
because
I
could
not
talk
to
anyone;I
had
a
bilingual
teacher
with
me
all
day,
helping
me.
My
negative
attitude
was
the
result
of
frustration
and
lack
of
interest
in
study.
No
matter
how
hard
I
tried,
the
mysterious
code
known
as
“English”
would
not
take
root
in
my
brain.
I
tried
for
hours
on
end
to
improve
my
grammar,pronunciation,
and
vocabulary,
but
the
unknown
language
“did
not
want
to
be
learned”.
答案
Paragraph
1:
One
afternoon,
my
mother
was
informed
to
attend
a
parent?teacher
conference.Having
learned
my
sudden
lack
of
interest
and
that
I
had
just
given
up,
she
was
not
content.
In
fact,
I
spent
that
whole
afternoon
listening
to
her
telling
me
why
I
should
struggle.
She
told
me,“
You
can
never
achieve
your
set
goal
unless
you
put
your
best
effort
into
it.”
That
simple
statement
stuck
in
my
young
mind.
It
“clicked”
and
inspired
me.
Paragraph
2:
The
next
day,
I
found
myself
understanding
English
words
I
had
thought
I
would
never
know.
A
simple
change
in
attitude
had
made
the
words
slowly
go
from
looking
like
something
alien
to
actually
making
sense.
My
teachers'
welcoming
smile,
patience,
and
bright
attitude,
in
addition
to
my
desire
to
learn,
were
enough
to
make
a
difference.
Within
days,
I
found
myself
starting
to
communicate
with
the
natives
in
English
fluently.
My
mother
helped
me
to
see
where
my
problems
were
lying,
and
I
learn
that
success
in
life
requires
desire,
but
desire
is
not
enough.
One
needs
push
from
someone
and
he
cares
to
achieve
what
seems
to
be
impossible.单元质量检测二(Unit

第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

A
This
summer
I
volunteered
at
the
China
Conservation
and
Research
Center
for
the
Giant
Panda
in
Sichuan
and
had
a
once
in
a
lifetime
chance
to
get
within
three
feet.
Born
and
raised
in
America,
very
rarely
had
I
ever
seen
a
panda.
I
had
expected
this
moment
ever
since
my
mother
told
me
that
we
would
be
volunteering
at
the
Center.
When
my
cousin
and
I
arrived
at
the
Center
and
received
our
uniforms
and
gloves,
any
nervousness
I
had
felt
during
the
car
ride
quickly
faded
and
changed
into
excitement.
Our
first
task
was
to
clean
up
the
panda's
cage.
Although
it
was
a
boring
job,
it
was
interesting
to
be
in
the
panda's
living
area
and
see
how
big
the
animals
really
are.
Pandas
actually
fear
heat,
so
the
Center
provides
each
animal
with
an
ice
block
to
keep
it
comfortable.
When
it
was
time
to
feed
the
pandas,
the
keeper
gave
us
five
pieces
of
food
each,
which
consisted
of
bamboo,
carrots,
or
bread
to
feed
to
a
one?year?old
male.
Never
having
dreamed
of
being
so
close
to
a
panda.
I
was
delighted
by
the
action
and
after
listening
to
it
munch
(用力咀嚼)on
the
food,
hurriedly
offered
a
piece
more.
Next,
we
watched
a
video
on
China's
goal
to
help
giant
pandas
back
into
the
wild.
It
explained
China's
efforts
to
raise
them
to
increase
the
population,
and
detailed
measures
taken
to
train
the
pandas
to
enter
their
nature
reserve
once
again.
The
workers
had
to
spend
lots
of
time
teaching
the
animals
how
to
live
in
nature
and
guaranteeing
their
safety
at
all
times.
I
am
grateful
to
have
been
able
to
volunteer
for
a
day
and
will
treasure
the
experience
for
the
rest
of
my
life.

B
I
left
England
for
Sydney
in
September.
It
was
a
career
move
for
my
husband,
and
our
20?year?old
daughter
was
feeling
adventurous
and
decided
to
come,
too.
However,
just
before
leaving
England,
my
79?year?old
mother
suffered
a
stroke
(中风).
Being
strong
and
independent,
she
continues
to
live
at
home
with
the
help
of
social
services.
But
she
couldn't
look
after
the
garden.
I
thought
how
wonderful
it
would
be
if
there
was
an
organization
offering
volunteer
help.
Friends
asked
me
what
I
planned
to
do
in
Australia,
and
I
told
them
I
would
be
looking
for
a
volunteer
position
with
a
gardening
organization.
Imagine
my
surprise
when
I
found
just
the
organization
I
had
been
looking
for—Easy
Care
Gardening
(ECG)!
There
are
several
reasons
why
I
volunteer
for
ECG.
Firstly,
as
a
newcomer
to
Australia
I
meet
many
great
people
who,
like
me,
volunteer
some
of
their
time.
We
cover
a
large
age
range,
but
all
love
gardens
and
helping
others.
Secondly,
through
working
with
ECG
I
have
been
lucky
enough
to
explore
Sydney's
North
Shore
that
I
might
not
have
had
the
opportunity
to
visit
otherwise.
Finally,
there
are
all
those
wonderful
people
who
we
call
“clients
(客户)”,
but
are
more
like
friends
when
we
visit
them
often
and
tend
their
gardens.
What
great
people
I
have
met,
and
stories
they
have
to
tell—the
family
histories,
where
they
come
from
and
the
reasons
for
immigrating
to
Australia.
I
find
it
a
privilege
to
have
access
to
private
gardens
which,
in
many
cases,
have
been
the
joy
of
their
owners
for
many
years.
Each
one
is
individual
and
reflects
the
character,
needs
and
the
history
of
each
family.
Indeed,
the
gardens
reflect
the
multicultural
and
historical
background
of
Sydney.

Organic(有机的)farming
is
a
type
of
agriculture
that
benefits
from
the
recycling
and
use
of
natural
products.
Use
of
dried
plants
not
only
saves
money,
but
also
ensures
the
growth
of
crops.
The
technique
is
characterized
by
the
use
of
green
manure
(肥料),
biological
pest
control
methods
and
special
farming
techniques
to
keep
soil
productive.
Limiting
the
use
of
man?made
chemicals
or
completely
doing
away
with
them
reduces
the
risk
of
diseases.
Today,
organic
farming
is
a
major
and
preferred
industry
around
the
world.
Organically
grown
food
products
have
a
huge
market,
with
farmlands
covering
about
10%
of
the
total
world
farmland.
The
hard
work
of
Sir
Albert
Howard,
the
Father
of
Organic
Farming,
has
paid
off.
Advantages
of
Organic
Farming:
(1)
The
economics
of
organic
farming
are
characterized
by
increasing
profits
through
reduced
water
use
and
reduced
soil
erosion(侵蚀).
(2)Organic
farming
produces
the
same
crops
as
those
produced
through
traditional
farming
methods,but
uses
half
the
energy,and
holds
40%
more
top
soil.
(3)Farming
the
organic
way
enables
farmers
to
get
rid
of
weeds
without
the
use
of
any
chemicals.
(4)
The
use
of
green
pesticides
(杀虫剂)
is
environmentally
friendly
and
does
no
harm
to
human's
health.
Disadvantages
of
Organic
Farming:
(1)Organic
methods
of
farming
produce
less,compared
to
traditional
farming
techniques.
(2)Organic
agriculture
does
little
to
fight
global
climate
change.
Though
organic
farming
practices
are
recognized
as
giving
out
less
CO2,
but
not
to
a
significant
degree.
However,though
there
are
some
disadvantages
to
organic
farming,farms
where
organic
methods
for
cropping
have
been
used
have
more
advantages
than
traditional
farms.
Organic
agriculture
is
surely
better
in
the
long
term.

this
passage
to
tell
us
________.
A.the
development
of
agriculture
B.what
kind
of
food
is
being
grown
at
present
C.why
organic
farming
is
so
popular
around
the
world
D.what
organic
farming
is
and
its
advantages
and
disadvantages
D
Let
us
consider
what
we
can
do
for
the
food
problem.
The
simple
way
to
increase
food
production,
one
might
suppose,
is
to
bring
more
land
into
farmland
and
put
more
people
to
work
on
it.
But
it
is
proved
in
some
developing
countries
that
this
will
bring
some
problems.
It
will
quickly
make
the
soil
poorer
and
destroy
forest
growth.
What's
more,
the
people
there
will
always
find
they
need
more
people
to
work
on
this
land
to
produce
more
food.
During
the
past
twenty
years,
some
developing
countries
have
increased
a
lot
more
farmland
in
their
countries,
but
meanwhile
their
populations
have
grown
faster;
therefore,
they
are
further
behind
than
before.
And
their
food
increase
has
been
gained
at
the
cost
of
using
up
the
rich
lands.
Many
of
the
lands
have
become
poor
lands
and
are
producing
less
food
now.
Meantime,
farming
in
the
developed
countries
has
produced
much
more
food
through
improved
techno?logy.
Since
1940,
farmland
has
been
reduced
by
7
percent
in
the
United
States
but
grain
production
has
jumped
by
60
percent.
The
increase
in
the
corn
output,
thanks
to
hybrid
corn,
has
been
even
greater.
The
“secret”
is
to
apply
fertilizer,
in
scientific
ways,
of
course.
And
compared
to
the
developing
countries,
the
populations
in
developed
countries
have
increased
just
a
little
larger
than
twenty
years
ago.
On
the
whole,
world
population
today
is
increasing
at
the
speed
higher
than
ever
before.
Every
year
the
population
is
two
percent
larger,
so
that
the
6,000,000,000
people
on
the
earth
today
will
present
another
120,000,000
mouths
to
be
fed
by
the
time
next
year.
It
is
a
terrible
thought
that
this
time
tomorrow
there
will
be
360,000
persons
added
to
this
world
population.
What
can
we
do
about
the
increase
of
population,
or
the
lack
of
food
to
feed
such
a
large,
growing
population?
That's
a
very
important
problem
before
everyone
on
the
earth,
young
or
old,
men
or
women.

today
in
the
author's
opinion?
A.Pollution.
B.The
lack
of
food.
C.Poor
farmland.
D.The
increase
of
land.
33.What
can
we
conclude
from
the
agriculture
history
in
the
US?
A.The
more
people
there
are,
the
less
food
there
is.
B.The
richer
a
country
is,
the
richer
it
will
become.
C.Science
will
be
helpful
in
feeding
the

to

________.
A.we

The
Last
Robot?Proof
Job
in
America?
You
can
get
most
food,
such
as
warm
cookies
or
vodka,
to
your
doorstep
in
minutes.
But
try
getting
a
red
snapper
(红鲷鱼).
Until
recently,
if
you
could
obtain
it,
it
would
likely
have
been
pre?frozen
and
shipped
in
from
overseas.
A
new
tech
startup
is
aiming
to
__41__
this
situation.
Based
inside
the
Fulton
Fish
Market,
a
seafood
wholesale
market,
the
startup,
called
FultonFishMarket.com,
allows
customers
across
the
whole
country,
both
restaurants
and
individuals,
to
buy
from
the
market.
The
fish
is
shipped
__42__,
rather
than
frozen,
thanks
to
an
Amazon
advanced
logistics
system.
Mike
Spindler,
the
company's
CEO,
said
recently,
“I
can
get
a
fish
to
Warren
Buffett,
which
is
as
fresh
as
if
he'd
walked
down
to
the
pier
(码头)
and
bought
it
that
morning.”
There
is
one
thing,
__43__,
that
the
sophisticated
logistics
system
cannot
do:
pick
out
a
fish.
If
Warren
Buffett
orders
a
red
snapper,
the
company
needs
to__44__
that
his
fish
is
actually
red
snapper,
and
not
some
other.
According
to
the
ocean?conservation
organization,
more
than
20%
of
the
seafood
in
restaurants
and
grocery
stores
in
America
is
__45__.
For
this
task,
the
company
has
employed
Robert
DiGregorio,
a
forty?seven?year
veteran
of
the
business,
who
possesses
a
blend
of
judgement
and
__46__
knowledge
that,
so
far,
computers
have
yet
to
replicate.
“__47__
the
food?safety
stuff,
our
business
could
be
any
market
from
the
last
three
thousand
years
of
human
history,”
Spindler
told
me.
He
is
experienced
in
the
__48__
business.
When
he
arrived
at
the
fish
market
in
2014,
people
were
cautious.
“They
thought
selling
fish
on
the
Internet
was
__49__.”
DiGregorio
said,
speaking
for
the
fishmongers(鱼贩).
“They
didn't
see
how
it
could
possibly
work.”
Five
years
ago,
DeGregorio
didn't
know
how
to
use
a
computer,
but
when
the
Web
site
people
arrived
at
the
market,
he
sensed
an
opportunity.
Together,
they've
created
a
human?machine
fish?buying
operation.
By
1
am
each
night,
the
company
collects
__50__
from
around
the
country
and
sends
them
to
DiGregorio.
He
heads
into
the
market,
carrying
his
tablet
computer.
The
company's
algorithms(算法)
__51__
data
on
their
sources
and
can
tell
DiGregorio,
for
example,
which
stall
to
go
to
get
the
best
tuna
(金枪鱼).
The
computer
is
a
“learning
system”,
so
if
DiGregorio
makes
a
choice
it
didn't
__52__,
it
asks,
“Was
the
fish
not
available?
Was
it
damaged?”
All
that
information
is
fed
back
in
for
next
time.
Then,
what
can
a
fishmonger
see
that
a
computer
can't?
DeGregorio
showed
me
his
part
of
the
__53__
process.
“I'm
assessing
a
few
things,”
he
said.
First,
__54__.
Fish
should
have
“nice”
slime(粘液).
Then,
smell.
He
sniffed
the
air
above
the
box.
“When
fish
goes
bad,
it
smells
like
ammonia.”
Besides,
to
get
the
best
stuff,
“Fishmongers
have
to
have
a
relationship
with
you.
To
trust
you.”
He
added.
Is
he
ever
__55__
being
replaced
by
the
learning
system
of
computers?
DiGregorio
shrugged.
“By
the
time
they
invent
a
computer
that
can
do
what
I
can
do,”
he
said,
“I'll
be
dead.”

The
walls
of
failure
surrounded
me.
I
saw
my
teacher's
eyes
fixed
on
my
every
move.
My
mom's
blank
expression
betrayed
one
thing:
disappointment.
“He
is
not
giving
his
full
potential,”
I
heard
my
teacher
say.
I
gazed
down,afraid,
ashamed,
and
determined.
My
determination
was
not
to
excel
and
put
my
best
effort
into
improvement;my
determination
told
me
to
give

It
was
my

in
the
United

I
was
a
fifth

and
everything
around
me
seemed
alien.
My
native

had
been
Spanish,
and
after
coming
to
the
United

from
Puerto

because
of
serious

I
just
felt

my
metaphorical
shell.
The
school
itself
was
bright

The
bright
walls
with
colored

cartoons
were
appealing,
and
the
distinct
smell
of
crayons,
play
dough,
and
chalks
made
the
place
feel
like
my
home.
Then
why
did
I
have
such
a
negative
attitude?
It
was
not
because
my
teachers
did
not
support
me.
They
were
willing
to
stay
after
school
with
me
to
help
me
learn
the
concepts.
It
was
not
because
my
classmates
did
not
want
me
there.
Most
of
them
invited
me
to
sit
with
them
at
lunch.
It
was
not
because
I
could
not
talk
to
anyone;I
had
a
bilingual
teacher
with
me
all
day,
helping
me.
My
negative
attitude
was
the
result
of
frustration
and
lack
of
interest
in
study.
No
matter
how
hard
I
tried,
the
mysterious
code
known
as
“English”
would
not
take
root
in
my
brain.
I
tried
for
hours
on
end
to
improve
my
grammar,pronunciation,
and
vocabulary,
but
the
unknown
language
“did
not
want
to
be
learned”.
