动词不定式的基本结构为:to+do(动词原形),否定式为:not

do。本单元我们主要学习动词不定式作宾语、宾语补足语和目的状语的用法。
1.
作宾语:
(1)我们将to
do(动词不定式)放在动词(如choose,
hope,
offer,
want,
decide,
learn,
plan,
wish,
agree,
dare,
expect,
fail,
help,
manage,
prepare,
pretend,
promise,
refuse
等)后面作宾语。

(2)在使役动词和感官动词后面需要省略to,常见的此类动词可用口诀“一感二听三让五看半帮助”来归纳,

at/notice/observe;半帮助——help(to可以省略,也可以不省略)。

作目的状语:
(1)我们可以用to
do来表目的,通常在译成中文时可用“为了”来表示。
(2)不定式用作目的状语有两个可能的位置,一是在句首,二是在句末。一般说来,用于句首属于强调性用法,即强调动词的目的。有时为了特别强调目的状语,可以在不定式之前加上in
