二、阅读单选
When
it
comes
to
long-distance
space
travel,
the
biggest
problem
is
that
spaceships
can
only
get
as
far
as
the
fuel
onboard
allows.
In
1964,
a
British
writer
Clarke
came
up
with
the
idea
of
“solar
sailing”
in
his
science
fiction.
He
wrote
of
large,
mirror-like
sails
that
collect
power
from
the
sun
and
free
spaceships
from
the
limitation
of
fuel.
This
sci-fi
idea
was
first
successful
brought
to
reality
in
2010
by
Japan’s
IKAROS
satellite.
Ever
since
then,
the
technology
has
improved
mission
by
mission,
with
the
latest
being
NASA’s
Advanced
Composite
Solar
Sail
3(ACS3).
NASA
has
recently
announced
that
it’s
going
to
team
up
with
Lithuania’s
satellite-building
company
NanoAvionics
to
test
its
new
sail
in
Low-Earth
Orbit.
To
many,
a
solar
sail
may
look
like
a
giant
solar
panel,
but
it
actually
works
very
differently.
While
solar
panels
take
in
energy
from
the
sun
and
change
it
into
power,
solar
sails
use
Photons
given
off
by
the
sun
to
create
direct
power.
Besides,
solar
panels
are
big
and
heavy
to
carry,
while
solar
sails
are
just
the
opposite.
According
to
Abbott,
the
CEO
of
NanoAvionics,
the
upcoming
Low-Earth
Orbit
trial
with
NASA,
if
successful,
will
be
followed
with
deep-space
missions
that
involve
larger
solar
sails.
These
are
ideal
for
low-cost
and
long-distance
space
travel
because
fuel
will
no
longer
be
a
problem.
“It
started
as
a
sci-fi
dream,”
Popular
Mechanics
reporter
Jennifer
Leman
wrote.
“Now
it
could
be
the
future
of
space
flight.”
16.What
can
we
say
about
solar
sailing
according
to
the
first
two
paragraphs?
A.It
was
widely
used
in
space
travel.
B.It
was
tried
by
IKAROS
satellite.
C.It
was
from
the
creative
idea
by
Clarke.
17.Which
of
the
following
words
best
describe
solar
sails
compared
with
solar
panels?
A.Big
and
heavy.
B.Small
and
light.
C.Powerful
and
large.
18.What
does
the
underlined
word
These
in
paragraph
4
refer
to?
A.Larger
solar
sails.
B.Deep-space
missions.
C.Long-distance
space
flights.
19.What
is
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.Solar

to
do,
you
have
experienced
procrastination(拖延症).
When
you
procrastinate,
instead
of
working
on
important
meaningful
tasks,
you
find
yourself
performing
meaningless
activities.
If
you
are
a
procrastinator,
perhaps
you
spend
lots
of
time
watching
TV,
playing
video
games,
checking
Facebook,
eating,
cleaning

walking

Procrastinators,
however,

Another
fact
about
procrastination
is
that
it
is
d47.
from
relaxation.
Relaxing
recharges
you
with
energy.
But
procrastination
makes
you
not
energetic.
The
less
energy
you
have,
the
greater
the
chances
of
you
putting
off
your
responsibilities,
and,
once
more,
you
will
achieve
nothing.
My
dad
always
used
to
say,
“Peter,
you
need
to
learn
how
to
give
yourself
orders.”
I
would
always
answer,
“I
tell
myself
what
to
do,
I
just
don’t
listen.”
Most
likely,
failure
of
the
ability
to
listen
to
o48.
is
the
main
reason.
The
scientific
name
of
this
ability
is
self-regulation.
Self-regulation
is
the
ability
to
actively
control
your
emotions.
The
more
developed
this
ability
is,
the
more
often
you
will
do
what
you
tell
yourself
to
do.
Good
news
is
it
is
possible
to
have
self-regulation
by
t49..
You
need
to
begin
by
setting
the
bar
as
low
as
possible.
Creating
habits
isn’t
about
quantity;
it’s
about
small
steps
and
regular
repetition.
Once
you
learn
a
new
habit,
you
can
exercise
your
willpower
muscle(肌肉).
As
you

your
willpower
will

Gradual
changes
are
more
pleasant
than
sudden,
great
changes.
Therefore
bigger
success
can
be
made.
八、回答问题
Can
you
remember
a
time
when
somebody
was
kind
to
you?
Maybe
a
stranger
allowed
you
to
go
in
front
of
him
in
a
queue.
Or
perhaps
a
friend
helped
you
in
a
much
deeper
way.
There
are
a
million
ways
to
offer
kindness.
Why
should
we
be
kind?
Being
kind
is
a
win-win
situation.
It
brings
happiness
to
both
the
receiver
and
the
doer
of
this
kind
action.
Let's
imagine
you
have
a
workmate
who
always
does
a
very
good
job.
How
about
taking
a
moment
to
mention
this
to
him?
Your
workmate
will
be
happy
to
receive
some
praise,and
you
will
probably
feel
good
about
yourself
for
having
spread
a
little
joy.
What
are
"random
acts
of
kindness"?
Many
organizations
encourage
people
to
do
kind
acts
whenever
and
wherever
possible.
Their
idea
is
that
it
doesn't
take
any
plan
to
be
kind,just
a
little
bit
of
effort.
Perhaps
the
strongest
supporters
of
this
idea
are
the
Random
Acts
of
Kindness
(RAK)Foundation,who
work
with
schools
and
companies
to
teach
people
kindness
skills.
They
believe
that
kindness
can
be
taught.
How
can
I
be
kind?
The
RAK
website
suggests
some
ways
to
show
kindness.
Generally,they
fall
into
three
categories(类别).The
first
is
interpersonal
kindness,
like
donating
old
clothes
to
charity
or
writing
a
positive
online
comment
about
a
restaurant.
The
second
is
environmental
kindness,which
could
mean
recycling
or
cleaning
a
local
park.
The
third
category
is
personal
kindness,which
means
treating
yourself
kindly,such
as
taking
a
walk
in
nature
or
treating
yourself
to
a
big
meal.
By
being
kind
to
yourself,you
will
be
kinder
to
the
world
around
you.
What
is
World
Kindness
Day?
World
Kindness
Day
takes
place
on
13November.
People
in
many
countries
celebrate
this
day
by
being
kind
and
having
lots
of
fun.
One
typical
event
is
to
use
“kindness
cards”.You
hand
a
kindness
card
to
somebody
when
you
do
a
kind
act
for
him.
Then
it
is
his
turn
to
pass
on
the
card
by
doing
a
kind
act
for
another
person.
Being
kind
has
a
sort
of
ripple(涟漪)effect.
This
means
that
one
kind
action
leads
to
more
and
more.
So
don't
wait
for
kindness
to
find
you,go
and
start
a
new
ripple!
